No. Not at all the Focus ST is perfectly capable of fighting the likes of i30N, GTi TCR and Megane RS..maybe not the Trophy. Infact in most race tracks the Focus ST is faster than TCR and Megane RS and i30N.
@@1989rs500 of course but that not the reason why it's not in the comparo. Listen the video carefully from the start you will understand... If not I will explain
@@1989rs500 the st is not an upgrade of an upgrade, if Ford makes an st s or an st r or an st something with upgrades it would be in the test. They just testing upgrade models. Tcr, trophy, n perf and not the basic one. The st is the basic form of the model not an amélioration. So it s not here
I don’t see why people think the golf’s interior is so good, the seats look ugly with their weird pattern imo, the i30 is the best I reckon
it's not the design they're talking about, but the quality. as in fit and finish and materials.
They look ugly but feel nice, the Hyundai 's look ugly and feels cheep.
@@mistreku Plenty of time to sit look at it, no point in racing anymore while one ponders the extra 7k spent.
Cos they'll resort to talking about that when beaten on the track. Anything than admit it's inferior, in any way. Die hard fanboys, the fact that VWs still sell even after the emissions scandal tells you all you need to know,
@@robinmarples5198 It's a personal thing, but I tend to agree. Lets face it though, people buy those cars to race on the road to smoke others from the lights etc, as well as the track.......If your mate beats you to the next roundabout on the bypass you gonna sound a bit lame saying your gear lever feels cheaper than mine, and I don't like seats the're too hard. That's something Goldilocks would say lol
You guys needed the Veloster version not the I30. And get the 275 hp upgrade.
I’ll spend my cash on the VW, I don’t drive to work on a race track!
get a GTD instead
I don't think I'd spring for the TCR. A regular GTI would be just fine, especially with the performance pack.
ARentz07 I agree, the 7.5 performance pack is a great car for the road and I’d go for that over the TCR, the Megane would be best on the track which leaves the TCR nowhere
Dépends on the roads you have to go to work, I ve got a megane 3 265 cup, and even when I arrive at work brakes and engine are smoking hot
Robin Marples that’s a good point, do you have any vacancies where you work?
mk7 Golfs are already failing MOT's because of completely rotten sills xD
What?
Everybody: Nothing
Everybody Else: Nothing at all
Jason Plato: "Ooooh ya fightah!"
They need to get a group together and do their test, 1 by all drivers rotating, 2 separate, no cars doing laps at the same time. In the end set all times, and prices, where they can compare abilities and prices. So, one may be better, but is it x% better 1 on road (technology, ride, seats, etc) and on track (same), for x% price difference.
Golf for me.. to drive and to polish!
I'd go for quality, AWD and class over speed.. VW Golf R. (Same price as the TCR).
Also no chance in corners the chassis is not good
Did it loose?
@@milo6507 Did it loose?
@@robv1139 what are you talking about ? Yes the golf lose Renault nr1
@@milo6507 I was referring to the N and Golf.
god, I wish renault was sold in the USA, RENAULT YOU HAVE FANS HERE
For 41 grand that Golf, it would need to nosh me off every time I got in it.
Props to Hyundai for challenging and defeating one of the world's biggest auto manufacturer
defeating? that car is disqusting slow.
It 'whipped' that 12 grand more golf.....burn 🤣🤣🤣
@@BalkanBoyBiH It did defeat the Golf GTI's Time on the track
Atharva Date Hyundai hired a top gun from BMW in order to make the i30 N, as with much of the success at Hyundai is by hiring Germans
@@joebloggs9709 Oh I didn't know about that!
You could make the i30N even a better performer and you wouldn't reach the horendous price tag of that VW. It's just the image that makes them so expensive. Sadly.
Have the French ever lost a hot hatch battle?
The new Type R maybe.
i30N with an ecu tune and you have the better more powerful car...and money to spare for a set of nice wheels. The new Megane is a disappointment to drive. If you want a Renault, get a Megane III RS Trophy. It’s still the better and more fun chassis.
This i30N is terrific! Brand snobs for boring overated golf
Can’t wait for my i30N to be delivered now
These comparisons with a slight differences wouldnt or shouldnt change anyones choices. Most people I know will rather make personal and irrational and emotional choices when chosing a car. Like its colour wheels sound system or 0-100km as if they keep dragging their cars 24/7...
The real performance golf that could be in the test in the léon cupra with perf pack. Cheeper and quicker than this marketing product
The Cupra Leon is 245 is 25-30k the 300hp wil be 30k plus.......against the Golf R, is that what you meant?
Megan vs type R now that would be a race
Type r wins
@@upbeatmantis86 The Megane beats the Type R on track. So nah!
Why dont you take also the GTI top Model the clubsport s?
This is the correct matchup the top model of the Megane is the Trophy-R that one can be compared with the clubsport s. Hyundai doesn't have a track focus car like the R and S models of Renault and VW.
If I30N in my country(SA) had a fair price would sell like hot cakes, unfortunately it's too expensive because of its 7yr warranty, it sell on price of mk7 R, though it looks like rigid car that can endure hard driving compared to golfs and meganes, Ford st
And in UK 130N is cheaper than these cars, it's very strange. Megane is the best track car.
Starting to wonder why Renault RS 300 are never reviewed with their EDC Autobox. Oh no wait, I don't, because it's horrendous.
£41k for a Golf.... No!
The golf is soo expensive tho
The i30n is $41000 in South africa , how come is it much cheaper than the golf everywhere else.
And the new Golf does not even have an independent rear suspension...
Not sure where you read that. But it does have it. Only basic models don't have it, same as all other cars here.
Yellow beast is the hottest car here
French ingeneering at it's finest.
So it will break down.

Golf is probably losing
In the real world, id get an N over the Megane much better build quality or save 10k and get a golf R which in Britain will be faster than everything here all year round.
this golf 41k Kia Stinger 3.3 V6 is 43k
True but it kills you in petrol costs
In North America, VW is dead in the water, lying about emissions, Lame SUV's, non competitive pricing. The only thing they had going was the GTI, but sales have been dead for the past 4-5 years due to reasons seen in this video, ugly bland looks with poor performances.
the golf is an old model. wait till the mk8... thats the real fair comparison they have been making the mk7 since 2014.
Yes was thinking same... comparing new and near new competitors vs the now retiring Golf.
I like all the cars but quality on VW does it for me... still the essence of a true hot hatch it needs to be a high quality comfortable daily. That is why I drive one. Though will be replacing with upcoming mk8 Golf R
Shiu Gen same here on all fronts! can’t wait to get myself a MK8 golf R
Its actually been around since 2013
TheFlyingPLiner right 😅 forgot about that since im in the USA
Mk7 wasnt sold until 2015 in the us
It would have been interesting if there had been a third driver and all three cars had raced on-track.
Hyundai's facelifted i30N hands down over these other two shitters. Better looking, more fun, cheaper and less likely to shit itself.
The VW has to go cause its £12000 more than the Hyundai
Bro why don't you use the N mode fo Hyundai in the race

Sean Armstrong ...that’s not a real hot hatch, isn’t it?
jogu123 and neither is the A45. More a hyper hatch along with the likes of the RS3. Mercedes don’t have a competitor unless you look at something like an A250 in this price range.
