      I haven't driven that car but having driven a few modern cars, they are increasingly being dominated by pointless, complicated technology. Everything is "automatic" or "haptic" etc, there are touchscreens where basic functions that could be done with one button require three presses, there are suspension modes, gearbox modes etc etc, it's horrific compared to a sports car of the 90s and early 2000s in particular.

    • @theashenfox
      @theashenfox Год назад

      I agree they should have practiced it better, and put the clio in race mode, but the point they were trying to make is valid, it's a fat overweight car with too many silly electronics, and should have been manual. Period. Auto or paddle hot hatch is no hot hatch at all. Does it even need three modes? No, no it doesn't. It's a stupid car and they exaggerated that. All car journalists felt the same way.

    • @Average_Bruh
      @Average_Bruh Год назад +2

      @theashenfox are you kidding me? 🤣🤣🤣
      Since when was manual transmission a requirement to be a hot hatch? So your telling me that a DCT Golf GTI and R, Hyundai I40N, Mini John Cooper Works, Megane RS, etc. are not hot hatches? That's an opinion only you hold.
      Agreed that a more retro approach would have bit for fun. But it is the 21rst century and not everyone, sadly, can drive a manual or want to drive a manual. So should the automakers lose sales because of the few that wants a manual gearbox? I think not.

      @@skylined5534 only because the 208 gti and fiesta st had stick shifts.
      Tbh though they should have known that you can't pull J-turns/reverse entry with automatics. It was really pointless testing that on the Clio.
      It's actually a quick car on racetracks though, that is where that dual-clutch gearbox works well.

      Totally agreed. Wasn't it Chris Harris who was a fair fan of the mk4 Clio RS? Could be wrong but I'm pretty sure he liked it.

      @@skylined5534 yes I think he was the only one who actually liked the Clio for what it had.
      I think the real problem was this gen Clio came too early with the _4 door & dual-clutch auto only_ hot hatch that is now super common today. If this Clio was made today, people would honestly love it.
      I personally don't care that it has no manual or 2 door version because it still is a very fun and fast car, it was simply more grown up and easier to live with, much like the ones today like the VW Golf R and Mercedes-AMG A 45 S. Both of these cars have the same 2 things the Clio introduced back then, 4 doors only and dual-clutch in a hot hatch.

    crazy. people hating again on renault there. why did they take so long to get in the car? they stupid and needed too long, keyless entry, keyless start, had to drive one and it was like my Renaults before. so defenately nothing that could take that long.
    about the sports mode - i am not sure if it takes so long, it could, but still, there is hate about the Renault.
    Also about the mph to reach first:
    - a car that has better traction at the beginning has a better time to come across the line, not the highest speed.
    - the peugeot had spinning wheels, so he had a worse start, but of course a higher speed at the end.
    - you cant compare that
