Farming is incredibly expensive to get into, so if he gets to use somebody else's equipment, you all live in somebody else's house as part of compensation, 2400 is actually maybe still a little low but not that bad depending on how much he's farming. Do you want to pay 1000+ dollars per month in housing?
That was my immediate thought. Dave was about to give her sympathy about being a victim of a horrible accident, meanwhile it was her that caused it because of drinking problems. Which she might still have.
The 11 year old child should go to a public school not homeschooled. This will free up time to enable her to financially help the household. She can work online or bake cakes, cookies, and bread to sell or work somewhere. Dave was too hard on her husband. There is an incomplete picture of what is truly going on. Free house. Free food from the land. Wow, I sure wish I have some of that. No one gave me a free house or free food.
So they are entirely dependent on the husband’s father for both the husband’s meager income which barely covers the costs and the roof over their head.
@@prakash.srn.17Yeah, but if you cannot afford home schooling, then it is option. Otherwise she has to accept the sacrifice of having very little money when doing the home schooling.

The problem is parents who treat the schools that way and then complain about their kids without putting the time in to see what they are doing. Just attending school is not enough. She sounds a bit naive. Even if her husband’s father gave them more money, what about retirement, medicare, social security.? You have to pay into this for a future or get yourself an IRA.
"I don't want to go there, let's not go there" I'm pretty sure means her accident was likely a drunk driving accident or drug related. She went from crying to defensive on a dime. She's not giving the entire picture.
Dave and his employees always blame the men in every situation. They never have the women take accountability for anything. She didn’t want to go into the accident because it was a herself getting a DUI. That’s why she lost her car and license.
The real discussion needs to happen between him and his father. At 84 it’s time for his father to give over the reins of the farm to him. The same thing happened to my brother. My dad saw him as a cheap farm hand, and it didn’t change until my dad was unable to farm anymore and my brother finally took it over. Those old farmers know they have total control, because their sons would give anything to farm. There’s an old saying that goes you can take the boy off the farm, but you can’t take the farm out of the boy, and it’s very true.
It’s not adding up. $2,400 is good monthly income in rural areas. I suspect addiction issues…. Shopping too much to keep up with Jones’s, alcohol or something else.
A rural area AND they have no housing expense. Maybe that is why the father doesn't pay the husband more because he knows it will go up their noses. Pops has figured out the salary accounting for the "free" rent.
If I’m the only person in the house working, I’m not going to react well to someone telling me they’re not going to be the only adult in the room anymore. If you can push a button, you can do something.
I live in the SF area its do-able to live on less here. People just have to stop wasting money on going out, partying, alcohol, restaurants, and new iphones 😂
They are both to blame. They go from $10k a month to 1/4 of that and they don't have a plan to get the income back up? Did it really take Dave Ramsey to tell them they need more money?
I'm very concerned that the caller didn't divulge the cause of her accident. I don't know if there is addiction, or abuse, or something, but it's enough that she's being evasive. It's possible that she's just embarrassed about what happened, as I was about my injury, but there's a whole lot wrong even without taking the accident into account. I hope they agree to counseling, because I don't think either spouse will be listening to the other in any meaningful way without it.
I feel sorry for the husband. I can’t believe she wrote to his dad, that is awful. He loves farming, he has been beat up in the past already. My guess is he doesn’t trust women much anymore. This is a mess. Hope they make it through. She need some counselling.
I'm confused. If she didn't homeschool, she could work like most Americans and earn a living. At least part time. I disagree, it is her. Homeschooling only works with a husband who provides
Dave screwed this one up. Dudes being taken advantage of by a wife who is “unable” to work. Get off your ass and work if you want more. This didn’t add up.
If she can homeschool her child, she could be a virtual teacher or tutor. A lot of places have programs where you can earn your credintials while you work due to shortages. Some private schools don’t have degree requirements at all. Or she could get a phone job. They really didn’t have any solutions for this other than talk to your husband again and I don’t know what she wanted other than to make her husband earn more.
"I don't want to go there ... Let's not go there": there's a reason she doesn't want to specify the nature of her accident. She and her husband make their own misfortune.
We've had a number of callers like that. Did you hear the girl who kept saying she needed 20k to repair her house but she lived with her mom and grandma?
I live in Los Angeles, California, I always worked hard in my twenties and worked 7 days a week. I teach my Nieces now, work hard in your 20's and save every penny. The oldest one is a Manager at Panera. My father always told me when you are young and able, work 2 jobs and save every penny. That way when your older you will not have to struggle. Amen!
You sound like you love and care for your nieces, that's great. What do you think of those on here that will insult, denigrate, demean and otherwise look down on your nieces just because they are women?

@thomasfranco5997 Absolutely. And, if they're 18 or in their early 20s, the financial planner Suze Orman recommends getting an account at a discount broker, like Charles Schwab, investing $100/mo in something like Vanguard Total Stock Index. You never touch it til retirement. You would have over $1 million to pay off a home mortgage. I wish I had known this when I was younger.

Especially the DUI wreck she caused. Lol! She can't handle the bills...well she doesn't work, so yeah. Everything this lady says, the opposite is likely true.
“God is providing, we are so thankful.” Really, then why are you calling a radio show in tears having sold all of your possessions? It’s just sad that people have to say things as if they think god is listening and will throw them down the stairs again if he is displeased.
The husband could be stuck in an inheritance hostage situation with his father. The farm could be worth millions. I can imagine his father saying “If you don’t help me with the farm, “I’m leaving you out of my will!” Probably a possible reason he keeps coming back to this farm thing.
I am from Nebraska. Farmers and people who think they are farmers oft times think that the normal rules of finance, debt, and income shouldn't apply to them. It's like they think it's a calling, not a job or profession. That's fine if they aren't going broke.
Sounds like she tried to off herself and is in deep severe depression. She needs to go to counseling, maybe take medicine, get her kid back in school- it’s not healthy for the child to be with her full time, and she needs to get a job. It will take time but she needs to make steps or she will stay where she’s at
Dave called it out. She said, "I'M out of savings, I'M out of money completely, I'M barely making MY bills." but I don't think the reason is simply because the husband is not involved. There's something else going on. She is being subversive about her accident and why she can't (or won't) work. If she's not getting disability payments, then she CAN work. She was quick to point out that she homeschools her 11-year-old and there are a lot of parents that use homeschooling as an excuse to _not_ work. My money is on the "accident" being her fault due to DUI. It would also be the reason she doesn't have a car, and the real reason she "can't" work is because she also no longer has a driver's license.
If his dad is 84 years old, the discussion they should be having is when is his dad going to retire and let him run the farm. I am from a farm family in Iowa, and the same thing happened to my brother. Luckily he was also a CPA. And once my dad finally gave over the reins, then my brother could start making decisions for himself for the farm. at 84 the guy has been hanging on too long. He expects basically a low paid farm hand from his son, and it’s not gonna change until the sun takes over complete complete control of the farm.
The minute I realize a call isn’t adding up and we are being taken for an emotional, manipulative ride I move to the next video. I’m done wasting my time on liars and manipulators playing the “woe is me” card.
Maybe she wants $10,000 a month but that is a want and not a need. I doubt that electric, water and internet is running $2,400 a month. Food is getting more expensive but not that much more expensive. It seems that Dave decided to latch on to a neat, tidy, easy to pigeon hole narrative, which I believe is a huge mistake. Dave should have asked the husband his side of the story. I would delve a lot deeper into what else "the bills" entails. I have trouble believing that "she" is the only one making adult decisions in their house.
I couldn't understand why she kept saying, "I can't pay MY bills" when she's married. How are they only be HER bills when she's talking about things like utilities?
I side with the husband on this. If this woman wants more money, she needs to get a job! Her husband has been able to provide the family with a free place to live and $2400 per month doing something he loves. She’s using that accident as an excuse. Husband is taking care of her and his aging father and she wants to complain because she no longer has her $10,000 per month lifestyle? She needs a reality check.
I think they have credit card 💳 debt and they want their old life back. What is the accident? She must have been at fault, because she doesn’t want to talk about it!

Farming is incredibly expensive to get into, so if he gets to use somebody else's equipment, you all live in somebody else's house as part of compensation, 2400 is actually maybe still a little low but not that bad depending on how much he's farming. Do you want to pay 1000+ dollars per month in housing?
Would love to hear the husbands side of the story.
Yeah..i have a strong suspicion we'd get the actual, real story.
Accident = DUI 100%
Gangbang.
Maybe, but she had 8 surgeries. So she still needs to survive.
That was my immediate thought. Dave was about to give her sympathy about being a victim of a horrible accident, meanwhile it was her that caused it because of drinking problems. Which she might still have.
Bingo
It's related to her obesity
I don’t understand how this call kept coming back to the husband being delusional and lazy.
I can’t feel sorry for someone who is struggling by choice. She can work and he can make more money.
Bingo. She’s strong and independent. She can get a job sitting at a computer
Public schools are glorified dat care centers. Mostly crap. I'd rather have the kid home schooled
@@prakash.srn.17Yeah, but if you cannot afford home schooling, then it is option. Otherwise she has to accept the sacrifice of having very little money when doing the home schooling.
@@prakash.srn.17 They actually are not day care centers. The problem is parents who treat the schools that way and then complain about their kids without putting the time in to see what they are doing. Just attending school is not enough. You have to know what their assignments are and make sure they do them unless you have a miracle kid who is the perfect student.
She sounds a bit naive. Even if her husband’s father gave them more money, what about retirement, medicare, social security.? You have to pay into this for a future or get yourself an IRA.
Is she having a glass of wine while on this call???
Yeah with a Percocet
"I don't want to go there, let's not go there" I'm pretty sure means her accident was likely a drunk driving accident or drug related. She went from crying to defensive on a dime. She's not giving the entire picture.
my first thought
Why are you guys writing off any accountability for her? She can physically work
Because she’s a woman. That’s what they do now. They must have gotten that the demographics of people who watch this show are bitter middle aged women
@FrankS111 then you haven't been listening. Ken literally told her to start working
Dave and his employees always blame the men in every situation. They never have the women take accountability for anything. She didn’t want to go into the accident because it was a herself getting a DUI. That’s why she lost her car and license.
@@AuschwitzMyPantsdoubt it. You are biased and hear what you want to hear.
Food and obesity
Especially if it is 1983.
Something does not add up about this lady and the whole situation.
Not adding up at all.
$2,400 is good income especially in rural America. I smell an addiction?
@larose6551 that's what I was thinking, and manipulation
She's lying. We need the husband's side
If I’m the only person in the house working, I’m not going to react well to someone telling me they’re not going to be the only adult in the room anymore. If you can push a button, you can do something.

You can't live on $2,400/mo.?! I'm living in Los Angeles on $1,200/mo. Someone's pissing funds away somewhere. Time to grow up people!

They are both to blame. They go from $10k a month to 1/4 of that and they don't have a plan to get the income back up? Did it really take Dave Ramsey to tell them they need more money?
Lol
Tears that can be turned on and off like with a switch.
Let's not go there??? They don't communicate about money.
"Let's not go there (explain The Accident) = I was drunk at the time...
Dave screwed this one up. Dudes being taken advantage of by a wife who is “unable” to work. Get off your ass and work if you want more. This didn’t add up.
"Let's not go there" when asked about the accident. She seems to be hiding something and is so scattered in her conversation.
“Let’s not go there” was covering for a damn lie.
Lets not go there means she scammed someone and got a settlement and cant talk about it
Or she was drunk and ran into something or someone.
Oh Ken.. the husband isnt playing farmer.. stop it.
So they have no mortgage and made a budget last night that showed they could pay all the bills.
"I don't want to go there ... Let's not go there": there's a reason she doesn't want to specify the nature of her accident. She and her husband make their own misfortune.
Sounds like she was looking for a donation not help lol
That’s what I thought too
They don't give out donations ever on the air

$2,050.00 pre tax a month here. SS on Medicare. I'm elderly and get by fine on it because I have no debt. What's wrong with people ??
the husband checked out because the wife doesn't work. husband is like "we got no money because you don't work!"
I live in Los Angeles, California, I always worked hard in my twenties and worked 7 days a week. I teach my Nieces now, work hard in your 20's and save every penny. Now all 4 have 2 jobs. first the youngest ones are twins, one does nails, and the other is a party planner. The two older ones, one works in Fast Food and then works at a clothing store in the mall.

I laughed when Ken told her to get self-sufficient. That lady don’t have a tough bone in her body.

Seriously, wtf? She contradicts herself in the first 2-3 mins, "i can't work because of the accident....don't go there" and then when pressed by dave if she's physically incapable of working "no"
We dont know the other side of the story (like what's really going on), but im going to assume the caller is mostly at fault for everything that's wrong. Especially the DUI wreck she caused.
Lol! She can't handle the bills...well she doesn't work, so yeah. Everything this lady says, the opposite is likely true.
Wife CAN work... Refuses to acknowledge that. This whole call is a lie.
She speaks in the singular about the bills.
“God is providing, we are so thankful.”
Really, then why are you calling a radio show in tears having sold all of your possessions?
It’s just sad that people have to say things as if they think god is listening and will throw them down the stairs again if he is displeased.
The husband could be stuck in an inheritance hostage situation with his father. The farm could be worth millions. I can imagine his father saying “If you don’t help me with the farm, “I’m leaving you out of my will!” Probably a possible reason he keeps coming back to this farm thing.
Much more likely that they're just trashy drug addicts
Farm kid from Nebraska. There is a reason why we have a saying, "behind every successful farmer is a wife who works in town."
10k a month and they have nothing now. The importance of saving and investing and prepare for when things change.
Can the kid go to public school while she works customer service from home in addition to him getting a job?
She sounds like she’s had a few beers 🍺
*pain pills
I am from Nebraska. Farmers and people who think they are farmers oft times think that the normal rules of finance, debt, and income shouldn't apply to them. It's like they think it's a calling, not a job or profession. That's fine if they aren't going broke.
Definitely a DUI…also, sounds drunk on the call
Girl is cappin lol
Made up story. Crocodile tears. Just want Dave to feel pity to write her a check.
AA is a good program if you take it seriously lady.
Something is very off here
I side with the husband on this.
As my grandmother would say “something’s rotten in the cotton” 😮
Such a great phrase.
I think they have credit card 💳 debt and they want their old life back. What is the accident? She must have been at fault, because she doesn’t want to talk about it!
