    as always your hilarious and yes you are literally the first reviewer that even has the brains to understand hdmi 2.1 bandwidth has lower input latency and feels much better . DSc is an algorithm that compresses the hell out of all that data and people think that is for free? There is no penalty? Give me a break , feels night and day better native . Keep doing you man , channel is going # 1

      Any source to confirm the higher latency and lower quality? I wanna see numbers or I ain't sweating it. With modern hardware lossless compression can be done at unnoticeable delays if the implementation is good.

    The majority of games are created in the sRGB space so if you don’t want the gamut clamp use Gamer 1 with gain set to 98/99/100. This gives you the saturated colors without green tint.

    Great video. Love that you're trying to track down these issues to help us better understand the newer edge technologies that are coming out for these monitors. Mine is about 5 years old and I had no idea about DLDSR, the diff between DCI and HDMI, etc. Hopefully they can figure out the eye strain issue on the monitor. You were mentioning the ASUS and how great the colors are - that highly saturated coloring looks off to me. I liked some of the color settings you showed on the Dell better actually. I probably won't touch any of this though unless it comes down to $400-600 or something in that range. I like seeing what you can get for more but don't think it would be worth it for just normal Call of Duty or random survival gaming.

      SWING! My man! Asus colors are medicore considering its not an OLED but given the 360 hz and the feel of it AND the ULMB they are damn good. Nothing really is amazing just yet unless you can get the asus 360 for a good price, or get the 165 oled 34 inch for a good price.

      @ZorzGaming can you clarify why because most reviews state OLEDs have lower refresh times and input lag than most fast TNs and IPs monitors. Besides don't they say 360hz would be the equivalent of 480hz on an LCD panel?? Of course you might have marginally better motion clarity with Dyac/ULMB2 but responsiveness and clarity in game should balance the playing field??

    • @ZorzGaming

      Its not even close In my opinion. I come from the CRT days so motion blur is a nono. You buy OLED for gorgeous not to win. Winning still involves faster and less motion blur for me but it also depends on the game you play. For more modern machine gun games like Apex it might not be as big of a deal but for flick shot 1 shot head shot games like CS or Valorant its not close. Personally I cant stand motion blur. @@themetamind9305

    If I understand correctly the problem is eyes strain because of glossy surfaces coating of the screen and and it magnifies the light from screen directly into your eyes - *the same shit happening when you accidentally watch on welding (please never watch on welding without eyes safety mask or glasses).*
    And as I understand you don’t have this issue with a 21:9 QD-OLED monitor where is added more layer that gives you additional to horizontal and vertical also diagonal refractors - *buy 3M company’s matte film for cover your display for $30* - may be it will be helpful.

    the dumb decision of alienware to limit the HDMI 2.1 bandwidth is a deal breaker, you could run 240hz 1440p without DSC now the monitor is limited to 144hz due that crippled HDMI. QD OLED I believe uses the blue led to increase the brightness of any color, if the coating is reflecting back that light it might cause the issues with the blue light being too strong and hence eye strain, I found my Nano IPS LG panel to cause me eye strain due the backlight looking light a flashlight on my monitor, I don't like it either. so I guess it's just a try thing, everyone is different. I would also try the LG OLED which uses MLA to mitigate the light reflected back to the monitor to increase the brightness efficiently.

    So I tried all the previous generation oleds including the LG C3. The eye strain was present on the older models as well, I think it's worse on these generations because more people are noticing that weren't sensitive enough previously. The LG C3 had the least amount of eye strain and it also had the best coating. The LG panels didn't have as much eye strain as the QD-OLEDs so it makes me curious to see if they keep the coating the same on the new 4k models later this year.
    In conclusion I ended up keeping my AW2721D because it just wasn't worth it. Almost kept an Asus PG32UQX but even on a huge discount it was still too much for not enough improvement. However, the PG32UQX was the best HDR monitor by far. Whatever Asus has done with newer firmware, the blooming is extremely controlled and the HDR brightness is unlike anything else in the monitor market. The monitor hit nits that my 85" X95K miniLED does, except it's two feet away from you and hits you like a brick wall. lol.
    Oh, and no eye strain on the miniled monitors. So I'm waiting for more miniLED options to become available.

      I'm back on a CRT. Fuck it.

    • @DrakonR
      @DrakonR 6 месяцев назад

      @@ZorzGaming I think you're onto something with how the coatings refract light and how that could lead to eye strain.
      48" LG C1 = 4
      AW2721D = 6
      55" Samsung QLED = 8
      85" X95K MiniLED = 8
      The LG definitely causes me the most eye strain over time. I had quite a bit of it on the AW3423dwf even though it had more refractions. Could still be apart of the equation. No eye strain on my flicker free AW2721D/Samsung QLED or PWM miniled display. While I had the PG32UQX, I had no eye strain with that either even though it was also PWM.
      So I guess some of us have to lean into the miniLED department because OLED for whatever reason is causing eye issues.
      If / when you do another monitor, you should include your findings of refractions and see if there's a pattern.
      Thanks for the video.

    On the eyestrain issue I had to return the AW3432dw because it would flicker with VRR enabled not enough to see with the naked eye but it was still affecting me. Interestingly you can see the flicker clearly on camera in fact you can see it in your video at 17:48-17:52. If some one has access to a high speed camera or photosensor they could test if there is PWM dimming of the pixels I know Samsung's LCD TVS use 960HZ strobing to dim the backlight so it could be the oled is doing something similar.

    • @elvnmagi9048
      @elvnmagi9048 7 месяцев назад

      It could be what you are saying, VRR flicker, but the flickering during that part of the video is more likely due to the refresh rate of the screen not matching the recording rate of the camera from when he started recording that segment of the video. It happens all of the time on the news and in youtube videos that show screens. Even some room lights do it because the frequency of the lights is out of step with the recording rate.

    I think the eye strain issue might be the pixel dimming scheme. It can make things constantly go from ultra bright to not so bright, and that will constantly make your iris have to open and close, which will cause eye strain. Probably why he was getting spots in the eyes, because it's dimmer one second, so his iris's are more open, then it's brighter the next, so you get slammed with that extra light while your iris's are more open. I don't think PWM would be an issue with such a high refresh rate. It isn't even really PWM on OLED, because PWM is an LCD backlight thing, not OLED. Since OLED is the backlight, the "PWM" is the refresh rate.

    The streets have been waiting for the review to drop zorz, best most in depth one yet. I got impatient and got this monitor upgrading from a 180hz lg ips and I’m blown away. One thing I heard in another review is the guy fixed his eye strain by turning brightness up over 85 percent in sdr. I keep it brightness at about 85 percent (something about pwm dimming on this panel) and I don’t notice any eye strain using this thing but it’s important to bring up. I was also wondering what settings you use in SDR for the best visibility in fps titles? Do you keep g sync on or off?

    • @ZorzGaming
      @ZorzGaming  7 месяцев назад +1

      I think you're one of the lucky ones! no brightness setting ( I tried 85 in sdr) did much of anything. I always keep G Sync off, especially for this testing. I really appreciate your words. If you're not having eyestrain. Don't use DLDSR and dont use DCI-P3 its fucking great...

  • @platefork
    @platefork 3 месяца назад +3

    Got the monitor, and yea it's pretty Zorz. But one thing I would like to add is that DSC also disables Integer Scaling, which is pretty useful for older games that dont support higher resolutions.
    These new OLED monitors are amazing, but I feel they're not quite ready yet because we can only take full advantage of them with DP 2.1 or HDMI 2.1.
    No eyestrain issues here btw. Cant wait for your next video dude!

    Oled are not flicker free. Maybe the combination of the magenta tint, sub pixel structure and pulse on 360hz. i have qd led panel and i do not have the magenta reflection when light shine on the monitor. So maybe the layer, sub-pixel and the pulse of 360hz is the problem.

      The "flicker" OLED's have is very, very minimal (see Rtings tests). It's nothing like the full/near on-off cycle of other panel types with PWM. It's just a slight variance @ Hz. Some mobile amoleds do have a bad flicker though.

    Unfortunately I think the problem is just the PWM flicker, which is abominable on this screen. Maybe you're more sensitive to the 360hz PWM than to the 175hz PWM of the ultra-wide... Have you tried playing at 144hz to see if it's better? On Oled, the PWM frequency changes according to the Hz used and normally the higher the hz, the less visible it is, but normally for it to be really invisible for 95% of people, the PWM has to be over 1000hz... Lol Anyway, thanks to you, I know I shouldn't buy it because I'm extremely sensitive to flicker... The Alienware QD-Oled ultra wide was already hurting my eyes...
