I have this monitor and love it. Never had the fan turn on ever. I run it in HDR dark mode tho. I can't handle the super brights the dark HDR is ideal for me
Now that Alienware have ditched the G-SYNC ultimate module in their QD-OLED monitors there's basically no fan noise. It was the fan in the module that was the main culprit and I've never heard the fan in my AW3423DWF over ambient noise.
Recently got this monitor. Is it normal that the power connector isn't straight but a little tilted? At around 4:44 I think I can see it a little bit in the video as well. Just wanted to make sure that it's normal?
The one downside for all QD-Oled monitors is they don't have true HDR 1000 only at 10% apl. A full white screen you get less than 200 nits. For SDR content, there's nothing better but not bright enough for HDR.
@@Superdazzu2 I agree but I watch a lot of HDR content using MPC and Madvr. Dark scenes look fantastic but as soon as a daytime scene appears or a snow scene it looks noticeably bad. On the “bright” side when I get flash banged in a game it’s not harsh. At this point I keep the monitor at true black and raise the gama slightly and these scenes are slightly brighter at full apl. I don’t get the amazing highlights that 1000nit provides but it’s a good trade off for bright scenes not looking horrific and the Abl being super distracting.
@@xPhantomxify Yeah I'm noticing lots of TV's are good lately. I had a chance to use a s95c playing doom eternal and the hdr was ridiculously eyeball burning.
@An_Enraged_Pig The hole point of waiting is to get an offer. Don't want to wait for next years and pay full price. Plus, next year's models won't be much of a difference.
I agree my LG 34gn850 was a pile of f'ing crap. I had to replace it 3 times within a year. Then the terrible typical blacklight bleed on top of it.... Been on my Alienware 34" dwf for a year and a half now and I can't kill this thing. Over 8 hours a day and it only does one pixel refresh a day "when I shut it down" And have done 5 panel refresh's already and I even removed the anti reflection coating and it still works like a brand new unit right out of the box and have absolutely zero burn in even with my lack of oled care maintenance. These monitors are tanks and I cant wait for Alienware to eventually release a 39" or 45" 4k ultrawide like lg is doing later this year or early next year.. I love my 34" dwf but I'm ready for an upgrade to a bigger oled ultrawide.
You didn’t mention how the text looked on this new Alienware. I own the original 34” Alienware OLED AW3423DW that came out last year and I hate the text on it. Is the text on this new monitor better? Thank you!
@@PcCentric can you make a video on proper and optimal settings for users of the oled alienwarer monitor or any monitor for beta color accuracy for the type of games they like to play?
I have this monitor - I don’t think ABL is enabled at all in SDR mode, I could be wrong though but I’ve never noticed the brightness level change like that (I keep hdr disabled in desktop mode)
I bought this one and it's cousin the 1440p 27 inch one at the same time and tested both of them for a couple weeks. I just couldn't send this one back. I already own a decent 1440p IPS panel for a secondary, and the 32 inch 4k is so gorgeous I just couldn't part with it. Felt like a REAL upgrade. Looks perfect sat on my desk. And even with a mix of FSR/XeSS/Super Resolution/Frame Gen etc on more difficult to run games like Stalker 2 / Cyberpunk where I want over 60 FPS minimum still, it looks and feels better than native on the 1440p OLED / 1440p IPS panel, so it was a no brainer to keep. Plus consuming content generally is much better 4k and I never had an issue with reading text (something I hear happens with OLEDs) Think I found my endgame monitor for 5+ years now, and the warranty is so good they'll cover burn in as well, so abuse it as much as you want!
I was lucky to purchase this monitor from Amazon for 829£ ''Used as New'' condition but when arrive I did not spot a single defect/scratch. Really good monitor. Great colors, great responsive, great sharpness. Only ''whites'' are not as I would expect but this is possibly a nature of Oled panel. One thing I can complain so far is that I cannot update a firmware, even I used a cable provided by manufacturer. Ps. If You are moving from a good IPS 2k (approx 240hz) monitor do not expect a miracle. It will be better but not as good as expected, in my opinion.
Not have 3.5mm or optical ports is so dumb I cant believe they did that. But its aggressive right now in the USA for$800 so gonna return the MSI for this cant beat that pricepoint
Nothing from windows supports Dolby except for Battlefield 1 and Mass Effect Andromeda. Until games starting coming out mastered in Dolby just turn it off and never think about it again
Windows only sends HDR in DV. Difference is, DV is mastered for 1000 nits and has a different color curve than just HDR10. (Spoiler: The Alienware clips everything above 500 nits on Peak 1000 and DV, therefore actually is either dim or doesn’t support DV.)
I am sitting in front of a window with indirect light (monitor right behind the window) it is facing away from the window, how does the monitor perform in this scenario? Thanks :)
Is there is a noticeable light source you want to stay away from OLED. Gen 3 panels handle it better but still are far too dark for it to be a reasonable choice.
i wish theyd do non oled ultrawides again tbh too. I already have the dwf qd oled ulttawide but had to buy a dell va ultrawide to use as a daily so I dont get burn in. Could't find their 34" or 38" ips one anywhere
I just bought this monitor it’s absolutely gorgeous, I got it on sale also at Best Buy for $750. I got the replacement i insurance for both monitor and desktop. Not a single compliant
I have a fairly bright room with windows and the glossy panel and matte panel of my two monitors are basically indistinguishable. The only thing tell them a part is that the IPS has backlight bleed times a billion and the OLED has better blacks and inferior whites. The OLEDs colors are so much better though. It is hard to put my finger on how the colors are better, they just are. Both monitors are dope af though. One is my work monitor for all the static windows, the other is for gaming and content or looking at pretty things.
I really love your videos! Thanks so much for taking your time :) I just ordered this monitor :) I am new to gaming, have no idea about numbers or settings or brightness lol I’m a 40+ yo woman! Never had a console in my life and now I’m able to afford one and have the time to play with my nephew. So I’m learning for him! I’m just not sure what setting I should use with this monitor? Should I juts use it for games? Also… if I may suggest, could you add the name of the games you are playing when you do your demos :( I want to buy them sometimes, but I can’t find them anywhere. I remember you made a video about another Alienware monitor and I wanted that game but I have no idea what game it is! Thanks everyone!! :)
Got one last week with discount from Dell. Can easily work around the lack of audio interface and lack of kvm. Curve is not an issue, just.. different. Once you start playing all worries disappear. This is a gorgeous display, oled panels are a major leap forward in pc gaming display fidelity. Long anticipated for good reason. The high refresh is the icing on the cake. Aside from increnental improvements in refresh rate and brightness, I dont see a major generational movement like this until micro LED tech arrives in this segment. Could be another decade away.
I was wondering if there is a way or method to have 2 displays, 1st display as in my case a standard TV to use for work use on the desktop i.e. word documents, excel etc (thus allowing me to work all day) and the 2nd Display to be an OLED monitor (the monitor he is showing in the video) just for watching movies and playing games (thus no burn in). Like having 2 monitors being used for different things.
The deal breaker for me with this monitor is that it didn't have a 3.5mm audio jack. I like to connect my speakers to my monitor so I can have sound output for both my PC and PS5. Because of this, and the fact that I prefer flat over curved, I did pay the $100 extra price tag on the ASUS PG32UCDM. However, at the current discount of the Alienware right now of $999, If I was in the market now, I would prob get the alienware for $300 less, and just get a cheap ARC soundbar for the PS5 and pocket the rest.
Why then not just plug in a soundbar??! This Monitor uses EARC that will Pump Audio Into that and just plug Headphones into that.., I'm sure there's loads of Soundbars with 3.5mm Audio Jack Audio Passthrough!! Then anything you've connected to this Display.., PS5 & or PC will Push Audio to your headphones.., you could even just use a standard Analog Mixer.., or PC Audio DAC..., the latest Wireless Steel Series Headphones come with a solid ESS Sabre Processor Chip.. ((One that's been held in high esteem within the Audiophile / Tech Community!!)) Just do your research and check reviews.. a TON of the older headsets even just a few years ago have bad quality plastic that cracks and breaks.., better opt for the one's known to not have a bad reputation for breakage!! You can also just purchase a Steel Series DAC individually and pipe Audio out from your Optical Out on PS5 & PC into that!! It's kinda sucky to use HDMI for Quality Audio.., when you've the option for Low Latency SPDIF Digital Optical Outputs!! IT's Literally Light Speed Fiber Optics.., and no radio / WiFi-magnetic interference you'll always get using wired outputs on thick long cables such as HDMI..,. and extended wires going from your Consoles into headphones!! You'll ALWAYS have Analogue at the END of you Chain.., NO Headphones are PURELY Digital Afterall! That's precisely why you need a DAC ((Digital-To-Analogue-Converter)) So you'd still have a 3.5mm cable going from your DAC into INCLUDED or WHATEVER Headphones you've plugged into ANY DAC you've got piped into your AUDIO Pipe-Line.., either that.., or if you've a DAC that includes a pair of Wireless Headphones.., then you'd skip that 3.5mm entirely!! I don't understand why you'd want to piggy-back the Standard Audio that comes LOADED with HDMI Signal Processing Delay and such.., from your PC & Console to Headphones UNLESS your planning to JSUT plug in a Soundbar to this Alienware Monitor's EARC.., which is what that's for.., since It's NOT critical to get PERFECT Sound using External Speakers like a Sound Bar.., and you'd MOST-CERTAINLY wouldn't have a need for EARC for a Headphone-Focused Setup!! UNLESS monitors grow major legs and Feature Creep in a TON of extra's like a NICE DAC Processor Natively built in.., your expecting WAY too much out of what's meant to be a DISPlay-FoCUSED-Periphery!! That'd just Jack up the Price and Put off potential Customers.., thus.., it's STANDARD usually for folks to separate their Display Chain from their Home Theater Audio-Receivers.., especially for your specific use case needs!! If you've just a Home Television and you plug in other devices like a Laptop and or a Console and plan to just use a Soundbar.., then.., BOTH this Monitor & the MAJORITY of TV's these days out there already have all you'd need for that without any additional hardware pucrases necessary! Though it does seem your looking at a Headphone setup.., THUS.., use a DAC plugged into the SPDIF out of your PC's Motherboard.., and the Included Drivers / Realtek Digital Sound Software that your Motherboard either came with.., or supports to download from your Motherboard Manufacturer's Driver Download Support Page!! Me personally.., I've an ASUS board.., so Sonic Studio 3 works Wonders with this OLD 2012 DAC I still had laying around from an "Old Turtle Beach Headset I used a way DeCADE ago..., and it suits me Just Fine.., even have a mini small desk-friendly Analog Digital Mixer plugged in my Chain at the END.., so I can Mix in other inputs.., such as my phone.., and such.. and It even mixes in Wireless Bluetooth to Wired or Wireless Outputs!! ..., ~ Over-&-Out!!~
This was my deal breaker but i tried the USB C to 3.5mm adapter and plugged it in and I have sound. 1 strange thing Is now on youtube videos the PC pauses and unpauses the whole time. in gaming no problems so I need to figure out why its doing that
Sent back my pg32ucdm after I got this almost brand new for $700 on Facebook marketplace 😎 Asus is a nicer build quality but I definitely prefer the slight curve over flat….asus is not $700 better than this
How are you finding the brightness on the dell? I was thinking about doing the same but the dell doesn't have the uniform brightness toggle so it's very dim compared to my Asus.
I just upgraded my curved VA MSI G27C6 to a 1440p Dell S2724D which is flat and now my eyes are playing tricks on me and the flat monitor looks like it's curving backwards lol.
I have a 3080 TI and I was thinking about getting a 5090 when it comes out but seeing you work that monitor with a 38 he gives me hope that I might just need to upgrade from my 1440 P Ultra Wide to one of these 4K 240 panels As my next upgrade
Save up until you can afford a good monitor and you don't have to pay more important expenses like rent and other bills. Budget monitors will break down easily and make u pay more in the end. Think before you buy.
This looks way cooler than studio display. I am going to grab the new Mac mini and going to be mostly creating videos and editing artwork. Is this just good for gaming?
Hello there, been reading the comments about OLED prone to burn ins and comments stating otherwise and have 2 questions: 1 - I am currently on a mini led, will the picture quality upgrade be worth the change? 2 - I play games where you always have a HUD at the same spot (Diablo, PoE …) should this worry me? Thanks
This may be considered a silly question to some people, but my group of friends have been having the whole display port vs hdmi debate, what would you consider the optimal cable to use
Just got it today. Any tips for calibrating for Mac? I just go with everything default (standard desktop picture mode) for the time being. I am connecting it through Displayport.
I mean, I currently have dual 32 inch 60 Hz refresh HD monitor for my set up. Yes it is a 1080P monitor and it’s a big 32 inch display so you could see the pixels. Definitely thinking about upgrading to a better monitor and this one was perfect because I did not want to compromise on the size of the display but at the same time I want a good quality display with high refresh rate. And this monitor fits everything 32 inches, 4K, 240 so high refresh rate. But the cherry on top is the fact that it’s an OLED which is a big deal because I can’t get over the fact that my main monitors for my main gaming PC set up are not sharp. And for other people, maybe they don’t really care or can’t even tell the difference but I could tell the difference due to the fact that I do daily drive a 15 ProMax, 23 M3 Max MacBook Pro 16in, 24 iPad Pro 13in, and an Ultra Watch. All these have OLED displays and definitely there’s a big difference between OLED and a regular non OLED display. But the price might be a little steep, but I’ll probably just buy one out of the two monitors and it will be my main monitor out of the 2. This would also tied to the fact why I want a curved gaming monitor because my dual monitors right now are curved monitors and it would look weird if one of them is flat and the other ones curved. 😅😊
That's a tough one on these Samsung panels. I had to remove the anti reflection coating on my Alienware 34dwf oled due to scratches and hazing from just looking at it wrong. It wasn't too hard to do just time consuming but I don't regret it at all. It made the colors pop like you couldn't believe. And now it's stupid easy to clean being its just like glass now. Can't scratch it anymore and smudges comes right off now with just a microfiber cloth. Don't even need any liquids. Been a year and a half now like this and have zero burn in still and use it over 8 hours a day for work / gaming. These Alienware panels I'm very impressed with. They just need to hurry up and make a bigger oled ultrawide at a higher resolution already... I'm itching for an monitor upgrade.
@@SVT_LIGHTNINGStop using these monitors for work, they are not intended for that. Enjoy burn-in anytime within 2 years from now. Oh you're gonna get a new one because of your warranty you say? @@xPhantomxify Oh well I replace monitors about every 2 years anyways so with your 2 year educated burn in guess I’ll be due for a new one anyways. I’m at a year and a half already and use it over 8 hours a day for work and gaming and absolutely zero burn in. I only do one pixel refresh a day “when I shut my system down” and it’s supposed to do it every 4 hours and have done multiple panel refresh’s also. People worry way to much about burn in. I’m the worst when it comes to oled panel maintenance and have zero burn in. Ips can burn in. Va can burn in also. Every single panel tech can get burn in if you’re dead strung and scared of burn in possibility’s. And I could give a flying f*** about warranty’s. I gladly threw my warranty right out the window when I took a razer blade to the anti reflecting coating and removed it. And yes they do send you a remanufacture panel if you use the warranty. Same goes for gpu company’s and motherboards and most electronics. Not all but a lot work that way. So in other words I won’t complain because I could care less. I was going to throw away my Alienware dwf anyways and buy another one when the lousy anti reflecting screen got scratched from just cleaning it and I tried to rub it out and but made it worse. Razer blade and some time fixed that right up and made the colors pop even more and it’s gorgeous. Easier to clean also. Looking to get the lg 45” and take the lousy ugly matte coating off as well and use that monitor for work and gaming and get so much burn in. My goal is to get burn in on my dwf before it goes into the trash can. Hasn’t happened yet and I doubt it even will. But don’t worry I won’t complain if it ever does happens.
Oh and since you mentioned auto brightness control. On my previous Gigabyte monitor that was SUPER annoying. Like it would keep abruptly dimming the screen druing bright scenes and brightening it during dark scenes. Especially on Yoututbe that was incredbily annoying.
I’m getting mixed messages about OLEDs in general. I would like one, but I keep hearing about burn in after 3-5 years of use. Is this true? I would hate to spend money on something only to have a burn issue come up in the future. Monitor would be for general purpose use and gaming.
I need this monitor in 45"-49" Ultrawide @ 240Hz. Unfortunately the only one on the market is the Samsung Neo G9 but it's massive at 57". Stuck with the Samsung OLED G9 for now, but I might go back to this monitor for the time being.
Hi! I'm thinking of building a new PC based on this monitor. May I know if 4080 is able to fully maximize this monitor's potential? Or do I need to get a 4090?
4080 is enough for 4K, but if you want 240Hz as well, low settings is the only option. Only in games like Overwatch 2, Valorant, PUBG and Apex Legends.
I bought one on sale for $849usd i been using a 34 wide monitor switching to this 32 inch does feel weird for the first week but after a while i got used to it dell got rip of the 34 inch so i think they’re coming with a new 34 wide 4k oled monitor
Fellas, 16:9 is still king. You can always create a custom 21:9 resolution with CRU for your 16:9 34" and that'll still be pretty awesome. You cant create a 21:9 res on your 16:9 monitor though.
Ok...silly question perhaps but... I need a new monitor now, old one is craping out on me. I really like this monitor but know that my 6 year old desktop will need to be replaced as well in order to fully appreciate all this monitor can do. That said, would my current GTX 1080 gpu be able to run this monitor at at lower settings for a few months until I can use my tax refund to buy a more appropriate rig?

The one downside for all QD-Oled monitors is they don't have true HDR 1000 only at 10% apl. A full white screen you get less than 200 nits. For SDR content, there's nothing better but not bright enough for HDR.
Depends on the game and content, very bright apl scenes suffer but mid and low apl scenes look amazing. (fyi it's around 500 nits at 10% window)
Get a LG G3 if you want much better brightness than these OLED monitors. It costs around $1400 now.
@@xPhantomxify Yeah I'm noticing lots of TV's are good lately. I had a chance to use a s95c playing doom eternal and the hdr was ridiculously eyeball burning.
Yes that's true but the upside is when some games cut to a full white screen it won't burn my eyes out of my skull.
Im going to hold out until black friday for a good discount. Love the monitor
At that point you might as well wait until next years models
I’m waiting for one to fall off the back of the freight truck.
@An_Enraged_Pig The hole point of waiting is to get an offer. Don't want to wait for next years and pay full price. Plus, next year's models won't be much of a difference.
That's what I'm doing im getting it this weekend it's 900$
@@SparkzMusiiikjust noticed it’s $900 now definitely will be picking one up today, upgrading from a acer predator 1080p monitor🤣
But is it better than the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM you also tested? Here you highlighted different aspects.
Coming from an LG Ultragear in 2020 to this is completely worth it. I get excited to use it every day 😂
I agree my LG 34gn850 was a pile of f'ing crap.
When you were gaming on the monitor, did you plug it into a tower or not?
Can it be mounted with a monitor arm? 🤔
Yes
14:44 Well, did you change back to the HDR 1000 calibration profile you did in Windows as well?
You didn’t mention how the text looked on this new Alienware. I own the original 34” Alienware OLED AW3423DW that came out last year and I hate the text on it. Is the text on this new monitor better? Thank you!
Any speaker recommendations for this monitor? I’m having a hard time trying to find a decent one.
Sonos Ray is a decent all in 1 solution if you have an optical port, or an amp and stereo speakers
@@PcCentric can you make a video on proper and optimal settings for users of the oled alienwarer monitor or any monitor for beta color accuracy for the type of games they like to play?
Does it come with the VESA adapter so you can mount on others desk arms?
100x100 compatible. Then it depends on your arm.
When you ran the HDR calibration tool, which setting did you use for saturation?
There is no way to calibrate hdr....there is no standard it is different in every piece of content.
Plus consuming content generally is much better 4k and I never had an issue with reading text (something I hear happens with OLEDs)
Think I found my endgame monitor for 5+ years now, and the warranty is so good they'll cover burn in as well, so abuse it as much as you want!
Just picked this up today and WOW!
Ive paired it with a 4070 Ti Super and it’s just beautiful
I was lucky to purchase this monitor from Amazon for 829£ ''Used as New'' condition but when arrive I did not spot a single defect/scratch. Really good monitor. Great colors, great responsive, great sharpness. Only ''whites'' are not as I would expect but this is possibly a nature of Oled panel. One thing I can complain so far is that I cannot update a firmware, even I used a cable provided by manufacturer.
Ps. If You are moving from a good IPS 2k (approx 240hz) monitor do not expect a miracle. It will be better but not as good as expected, in my opinion.
did you check for scratches with your phone flashlight tho? Don't if you haven't lol
@@1984Captive Sorry for late answer. Yes there is a Dell 3 year warranty attached for this monitor. I believe it is threat as new product.
This monitor is nuts. The issue of fringing, or unclear text is uh....not a issue?? Its amazing. I struggle to find a flaw.
Is this an all in one monitor?
Do you know what other 32" 4k gaming monitors have ARC or eARC?
Only one i could find was made by benQ
Not have 3.5mm or optical ports is so dumb I cant believe they did that. But its aggressive right now in the USA for$800 so gonna return the MSI for this cant beat that pricepoint

Can you talk about how & when to enable Dolby vision. Sometimes it is unclear when content supports DV. Thanks!
Nothing from windows supports Dolby except for Battlefield 1 and Mass Effect Andromeda. Until games starting coming out mastered in Dolby just turn it off and never think about it again
If you use this monitor as an entertainment screen you could use DV. I'm thinking Netflix etc. Of course the media has to be encoded in DV.
Windows only sends HDR in DV. Difference is, DV is mastered for 1000 nits and has a different color curve than just HDR10. (Spoiler: The Alienware clips everything above 500 nits on Peak 1000 and DV, therefore actually is either dim or doesn’t support DV.)
would rtx 4070 ti super be enough for this ?
I am sitting in front of a window with indirect light (monitor right behind the window) it is facing away from the window, how does the monitor perform in this scenario? Thanks :)
Is there is a noticeable light source you want to stay away from OLED. Gen 3 panels handle it better but still are far too dark for it to be a reasonable choice.
is this worth more the price difference than the 34" Oled?
Great review ! Is this monitor considered as an ultrawide monitor ?
No,its a 16:9 with very minimal slight curve.
Does it have internal speakers? How are you supposed to get sound from it? Connect it to a soundbar?
I Got the 27 Non Oled Aw2723df and i love it got it in a sale too awesome monitor

Why is the picture so dark in HDR 1000?
Is this a good purchase if I have an Xbox series x? How do I get max performance
Yes. You put it in console mode. That’s it.

If your GPU supports it, yes. For example 4090s can support 4 screens.
This guy does superb reviews
Love your videos buddy keep up the good works
The deal breaker for me with this monitor is that it didn't have a 3.5mm audio jack. I like to connect my speakers to my monitor so I can have sound output for both my PC and PS5. Because of this, and the fact that I prefer flat over curved, I did pay the $100 extra price tag on the ASUS PG32UCDM. However, at the current discount of the Alienware right now of $999, If I was in the market now, I would prob get the alienware for $300 less, and just get a cheap ARC soundbar for the PS5 and pocket the rest.
Yes here in Norway the Alienware is 1400$ and the Asus is 1800$ but is the Asus worth 400$ more is my question

You can return it 1 time unlimited times.
Stop being sissy scared about burn in ffs, its a thing of the past
Hello there, been reading the comments about OLED prone to burn ins and comments stating otherwise and have 2 questions: 1 - I am currently on a mini led, will the picture quality upgrade be worth the change? 2 - I play games where you always have a HUD at the same spot (Diablo, PoE …) should this worry me? Thanks

I could not figure out the sound for my monitor using arc/earc which is kind of annoying for myself using this as a console monitor for now
This may be considered a silly question to some people, but my group of friends have been having the whole display port vs hdmi debate, what would you consider the optimal cable to use
Hdmi is like capped at 144 hz so display port is better.
Can you only hook up audio through hdmi ? Can i do it with BT

Can you do a video for PC and screen cleaning?
Micro Fibre cloth and distilled water for your screen & a rechargeable air duster for your pc... least that's what I do 😂😂😂😂
That's a tough one on these Samsung panels.
Whats wrong with the coating on the ASUS? It looks damaged already.
Oh and since you mentioned auto brightness control. On my previous Gigabyte monitor that was SUPER annoying. Like it would keep abruptly dimming the screen druing bright scenes and brightening it during dark scenes. Especially on Yoututbe that was incredbily annoying.

Does this monitore have problems with burn in?
I’m getting mixed messages about OLEDs in general. I would like one, but I keep hearing about burn in after 3-5 years of use. Is this true?
I would hate to spend money on something only to have a burn issue come up in the future. Monitor would be for general purpose use and gaming.
