you should look into this github paage i found by a guy named dylan raga. called windows hdr srgb to gamma 2.2 or something. I don't hear windows terrible tone mapping being talked about enough, and this fixes that.
@@drunkhusband6257 the heck are you on about? Contrast and max brightness plays a roles. Theres also dimming zones, back light alg and additional input lag (if youre not using oled)
Every time I'm about to hit the purchase button on this monitor, I remember, "Oh yeah. My computer is 20 years old. I don't need to see my graphics card struggling in vivid clarity."
I saw a post for a 48" OLED TV on craigslist and just for giggles shot the guy a message asking if he'd take $200 and he said yes, so I accidentally bought a $800 tv for $200. Actually works fine too. Even just for movies the image quality is fantastic.
One thing with the image that people dont seem to notice is the absolute uniforminity of the image, every single edge of the screen just displays content without any bleeding backlights, no contrast shifts. It's not really something you think much about until you see it live. I personally am spoiled by just how great the 100% screen image quality is. As for HDR, due to the contrast i think it looks significantly better than mini led. The only thing i liked about mini led was its peak sdr brightness, but bleeding that brightness into HDR(RTX and auto) kind of ruins the effect. ABL on the other hand can be a bother in some instances, but those were rare for me. Shit just blows me away, when the HDR really kicks in. Sime scenes in elden ring, the scenes with proper black levels, or the intro stage in gears 5 when your wakking through a pitch black cave and the brightness of your armors "hey im a friendly" just pop in ways they just cant in sdr.
MSI is going for 900-950 Alienware goes for 999(sometimes) Msi also sells one for 4k165hz for 800 rn (this is US pricing) Same panel for all of these as the Asus, don't scam yourself Also the MSI 27' 1440p360hz are 800 as well
Asus is like 1600-1700$ here in Europe in my region, either Msi or gigabyte 1200-1300 $Alienware is 1000$ for the same panel😂 I picked Aw its really good.
These are in high demand. The fact that he got the full warranty I'd say it's worth it. Although this doesn't change that I think this specific model is overpriced.
@@googlewolly A month ago people were on waiting lists for 32" 4k OLEDs. He didn't mention if stock was why he got his open box, but no doubt that was going to get snatched up quick.
130 bucks less, one of the best OLEDs, 3-year warranty still on it (let's assume Asus will honor it) and its only open box, meaning there's a high likelihood that the previous owner just opened it and return it for any reason besides the monitor itself? Yeah, 130 bucks is enough for the majority. I think that would only apply to LCDs since OLED monitors are in high demand.
Any IPS has IPS glow, it's just a function of view point. Move yourself further or use longer focal length camera and it disappears. While bleed is manufacturing problem that doesn't change with viewing position.
Yeah, I would never go IPS again because of the glow. My current monitor is absolutely unusable without the lights and a lamp on or all i can see is the glow at the bottom left lol.
The problem with HDR is that the _games_ often don't implement it well - in fact sometimes games implement it really poorly. RUclips channels like GamingTech do a lot of game testing and can tell you which games are worth playing in HDR and which can be skipped - and which will look good if you use the settings they found.
Windows also freaks out if you have more than one display in HDR mode. Moving windows to ither virtual desktop workspaces is just flat out broken on all but the main display. It’s such a headache I have decided it’s not worth turning on at all.
This is why you just use RTX HDR and why I wouldn't consider anything but Nvidia with these new panels. I effectively end up with "pretty well done hdr" on all games and all videos.
The 3 big cons of OLED: 1. Expensive. 2. Burn-in risk. 3. Dimmer full screen brightness, might not look as nice as LCD in day time scenes depending on preference. Outside of the above, OLED is literally better in everything else.
I get the best of both worlds by having a decent 4k 32" monitor for productivity, and a 65" LG C4 as a secondary monitor. Works perfectly for the games I enjoy since I'm no longer super interested in competitive shooters and such. Helldivers 2, Alan Wake, Dead Space have all been a blast and looked amazing on the big screen. All the caveats are kind of expected when you're at the bleeding edge of tech. That being said I fully expect to get at least 5 years of life out of the C4 since my old 55" C7 lasted the same amount of time before it started to show burn in - and today's panels are much more resilient than before.
@@ThisisCitrus Nope. Rting and Hardware Unboxed are both conducting accelerated burn-in tests. They are still present. While Rtings focuses on TVs and often older models, Hardware Unboxed sees burn-in as quickly as 3 months of worse case scenario type stress test on more modern OLED monitors. It is still a risk and care still need to be taken if you want your OLED to last.
@@SashimiSteak Their tests prove its not an issue. They are running the display 24/7 on a static screen without using pixel cleaning and it took years of watch time for burn in to show. Its a non issue.
@@ThisisCitrusThe way I interpret it is if it happens at all, it is a risk. To have to adjust the way you use the screen to minimise that risk, it is still a con.
Great review and very honest! But, ugh, I hate that every monitor/TV review channel says Oled has near perfect response time … not blaming you of course. Look, I know people get angry every time I say we have regressed in motion clarity technology, but here are the numbers. LCD black to white response time: 18ms OLED black to white response time: 0,6ms CRT and Plasma black to white response time: 0,002ms I know people are sharpening their pitchforks for me saying it, but the old phosphor based screens had perfect motion clarity to a point you couldn’t tell if a photo of the UFO test was from a standstill or in motion, regardless of the fps. Sigh … 😞
One aspect often overlooked in the LCD vs. OLED debate is the parallax effect that occurs near the edges of an LCD panel due to its polarization layer. While this issue is mainly noticeable on larger (32"+) flat panels, it can become quite irritating, especially if you use software with very thin or narrow scroll bars. OLEDs don't have this issue at all, next to the pure blacks and insane pixel response times, it's something that instantly stood out to me.
@engjds Bro just stop with nonsense, I've had an oled tv for 6 years no burn in. And a oled monitor for 2 years no burn in. Yes both will eventually go out like any electronic. Guess if your poor it's an issue , if you want the best a 6 or 7 years oled is perfect.
got my 1440p 240hz IPS for 280$ (koorui 27e3qk from amazon) a couple months ago, i aint complaining, cant go wrong with IPS at that price, OLED is such a big price jump, LCD is still best value by far.
i play on a 65" Samsung QN90A QLED......looks very close to OLED, brighter, and peace of mind that ten years from now there will still be no burn in on my expensive display. I can live with the little blooming I get from time to time.
Yeah 43 inch QN90B is working great. It's around 100ppi so text is nice and sharp sitting at the desk and I have a sofa close to it for use as a tv/gamepad games
One thing to note that a lot of people miss is that low fps content looks worse on OLED. If you’re in the 30fps range it almost looks like a shutter door since the frames are displayed so quickly, you lose that blur between frames that traditional led monitors produce. I have a hard time playing console titles or on switch in 30fps on my OLED’s even when using motion smoothing features. Just some food for thought.
If you're playing ANYTHING in the 30 fps range when you can afford an OLED monitor, your priorities are messed up and should probably have bought a better graphics card
@@mikaeo23 Yeah I’ll be sure to get a better graphics card for my Switch and PS5 exclusives 🤣 I play on all platforms and don’t limit myself to PC only. My comment is there to educate those who aren’t aware of those cons. I’d be willing to bet I have more experience with OLED and better hardware in my PC than you do.
Il say it straight if you work that much on your PC don't get oled that simple oled r made for mainly entertainment so gaming etc and casual browsing soif you mainly work on it for 8 hrs you will get get burn in with in a year because on the channel monitor unboxed he tried to use a oled monitor for work only so 8 hrs a day so after 3 months or so he all ready got signs of burn in so my guess before he hits 1 year he will get burn in since he uses the monitor for only work so in your case 8 to 10 hrs work is a no go so get a mini LED instead better for what you do until micro OLED comes but that's far away than it's no burn in risk
@@3borsresistance551 yes but it depends how much you work because Tim from monitor unboxed worked on his pc 8 hrs a day for 3 months and he got sign of burn in so you need to be specific because if you don't than your comment has 0 value because some work 3 some less some alot more so you need to be specific but my guess you don't work 8 hrs a day on your OLED if you did you would have signs of burn in all ready that simple since Tim all ready did a 3 months testing
I've gone from 1440p tn to 1440p OLED and it is amazing. I've used HDR twice in almost a year though. HDR... is impressive gimmick for now. There is no better SDR monitor than OLED.
Contrast is normally factory set at a default value and does not require an adjustment on modern monitors. If you adjust it in any direction, clipping happens and you get blown out whites and crushed blacks. If you don't know the default position, reset the monitor to factory settings. If you need better contrast, calibrate your monitor with a good colorimeter to BT.2020.
The biggest thing when looking for oled monitors is sales. All these monitors that are well over a $1000 are constantly on sale. The one I got which is a $1500 one I got on sale for $800 and at that price I think it's absolutely worth getting an OLED and I've even seen some OLEDs as low as just under $600
I've had the Alienware AW3423DW since 2022, paid approximately $1300 for it, and I can say with absolute certainty that it is definitely one of the most significant upgrades I've made, and HDR is no joke.
nice, got the dwf ( revised model) for 650 for black friday, omg is it amazing, imo this video shouldve shown a more mid range ips monitor for more relatable examples though, because my previous monitor was nowhere near as close to this thing as his was

love the trend that people move to TVs as monitors! (why place 25" monitors side by side when you can just place a 50" TV on the table, haha) There are little to no drawbacks imo since multiple screens and wider screens became the norm for gaming focused setups. I use my 50" TV often in 21:9 for games like Cyberpunk and it's just plain awesome^^
You can clean the pixels on your older LCD . My tv is 17 years old and the view really pops now after cleaning the pixels. Make sure your clean device or youtube cleaner matches your type monitor or you might damage the monitor.
I think you should buy tv like 42"-48" LG c4. They are cheaper and 42"-48" is better suited for 4k resolution. 32" is super small for 4k. I have 48" LG c1 and it was best thing i have done.
After using First Gen qd oled, in terms of HDR, the problem is that 1000 nits mode, decreases average picture brightness by half when u reach specific scene brightness (it does it to keep that nit difference), making HDR 450 true black overall brighter minus highlights (as it doesn't dim nearly as much). Still if overall picture is super bright youre so close to it's 250 nits limit, that even SDR at around 100% will look the same. Monitor is just unable to make anything pop when overall scene is too bright. MLA WOLED is better for HDR now for like 1-15% highlights, but... there is no glossy finish which I grew to like. Keep that in mind folks. Can't wait for next gen WOLED but without matte finish, possibly 300 nits at fullscreen white.
I went with 3rd gen QD-OLED because I found the MLA WOLED to look washed out, the white subpixel just seems to wash out the colours unlike the quantum dots.
I only care about input lag, Response time, and FPS for Rocket League. I currently have a 280hz IPS LCD from asus abojt 3 years old. How drastic will it be to move to a 360hz 1440p OLED on rocket league?
@@signedupfordoconly4275 I have the 360hz oled, and I would say it's not much of a difference in RL (I play a ton of RL), but in other games like Overwatch, or Valorant, etc where you are whipping your mouse around and snapping on people you can definitely tell a difference.
@@signedupfordoconly4275 I switched from 144hz IPS to 240hz OLED and the difference is amazing. I've heard that the jump from 240hz to 360hz is small but definitely noticeable, but I think in your case the biggest improvement would be the switch to OLED. The quick response times of OLEDs have very little to do with input lag, its just how quickly a pixel can switch from one color to another. Faster response times result in better motion clarity, with less ghosting and motion blur. High refresh rate OLEDs feel so nice to game on because you can see everything clearly, even in fast motion. I will say the longer you can wait, the cheaper and better OLEDs will become. 280hz IPS is still a great monitor and I wouldn't really feel the need to upgrade to a $1000+ monitor right now unless you have the money to spend, and really care about the better motion clarity and contrast ratios.
I've got an older OLED monitor and one of the things I can not stand about it is the auto dimm feature that I have no control over... aka i can't tune it to fit my needs and I can't turn it off.... So before I invest in this monitor quick question: Is there an auto dimming feature on this monitor and if so can you control/disable it in the menu if you wanted? Watched a few reviews on tihs now and it's mentioned but haven't gotten the definitive answer yet. Thanks!
After tax, I paid just shy of $2000 for my LG 40WP95C-W 40” UltraWide. I have ZERO regrets. I bought it for productivity with a macbook pro but it still has a 75hz refresh rate so it's got a smoother look and feel than any other 60hz screen. The screen itself though is absolutely incredible.
0:45 i know i have it but its still awesome , its 2 1440p oleds mashed together so you can game while having youtube or a guide on the side , but ive never used it this way cause i baby it scared of burn in but yet i know play one game so im making it vulnerable to burn in
1440p looks sharp on a 27" monitor, if 32" go for 4k would be better. Plus, it also depends on the quality of your 1440p monitor display like panel, color gamut, contrast, etc... Some 1440p IPS panel does comes with low contrast but some looks fine. Of course, it also depends on the "budget"...
@@strider029 👍 I found that those I mentioned above is ideal inches for different resolution, but not super bad. It is because I found that a lot of users said that 1080p is lousy, pixelated, blur, etc. End up they were talking about 27" 1080p😅😅 For 1080p, it looks sharp if go for 23.8" / 24". Same scenario for 27" 1440p and 32" 4k, ideal perception.
You can't argue OLED is a massive step up. I just today got a budget 1440p 32" MSI oled on sale for $699, and there is no contest how amazing it is compared side by side with my mid-range $550 IPS 1440p monitor.
Fun fact for HDR video recording, if you record with the windows game bar, or take screenshots with it, it will save a SDR tone map version alongside the HDR version
Well yeah once you experience something better that what you're used to you will not want to go back. It's like switching from 720p square screen from 15 years ago to 4K UW this year, ain't no way someone's going back with that.
Depends on how much you value the image quality. I have an LG OLED and IPS panels side-by-side by I mainly use the IPS. I leave the OLED for movies and such. Doesn't really matter in most games, I don't play them for visuals anyways. And text looks sharper on 1440p ips compared to 4k OLED thanks to Microsoft not implementing cleartype for WRGB subpixel layout.
Any comment on the QD OLED panel washing out in bright environments? I can (and do) keep my room fairly dark, but how dark is dark enough? I don't wanna spend 1300 to find out, and looking at the screen in a brightly lit showroom probably won't help much.
what screen exactly? look on rtings and see how much brighter it'll be and then you can turn your current screen to the max and see if you got "brightness issues". (can't get bright enough to fight glare, blacks get elevated without darkening the room) If yes I'd say that it might not be the right choice. if you don't get the issue it's worth the try imo, especially if you get them somewhere with a good return policy.
It's noticeable to me in office environments. Wait for a second gen version to get a filter/coating on it to reduce that issue or go with an LG panel. But not those $500 1440p 27in panels. Those aren't very good. Sharpness leaves a lot to be desired. I got one and returned it almost immediately. Too blurry. If you're not in a bright environment then you're fine.
use mine during the day, you will be fine as long as you are not having direct light on the front of it, i even have my blinds completely open, while there is indeed slight black raise that happens, its nowhere near as bad as people make out to be, it could also be how my room is setup as well tho
My room is pretty bright, but unless I play really dark games or watch such movies (like horrors or sth) it's not noticeable at all. And the "washing out" apply only to blacks, because they get slight purple tint - other colors are untouched.
Can someone read the fine print policy? Surely says a few dead pixels they do not cover. What are the warranty like from different brands and who has the best.
That's why I went with a VA panel. Really high contrast, almost pitch black. No ghosting on my particular model at 240hz. It is 1080p but it was 1/10th of the price of this oled monitor. It's also more vibrant than the ips monitors I've used.
No black ghosting i doubt it. Unless va's have gotten that much better. Which 240hz va are you talking about genuinely curious to see rtings review on it.

I ended up getting this. - Awesome colors without tuning (in my opinion) - 240 hz. Latency and motion clarity feels just like the 27" AQDM, but in 4K! - Very, very decent HDR. Not MiniLED level, but generally adequate and feels much brighter than AQDM and Samsuing G8 OLED. All in all, if the AQDM is a 7/10, this is a 9/10. But too bad it doesn't have 480 hz. Text looks GOOD!
The TestUFO image duplication problem is because you're using a static camera position, but those parts of the test updated to a new monitor refresh mid-way through your capture. To avoid this you need to either carefully test using a persuit camera (moving on rails at the same speed as the UFO, so that both images stack on top of each other) or you need a shorter shutter speed.
I bought the first round of 1440p 240hz OLEDs. They are overrated. Is it nice? Yes, but these RUclips channels sold them like the second coming of christ and it is disingenuous. Hell, most game's implementation of HDR is ASS. Get a quality IPS for half the price.
There is a significant difference between OLED monitors and TVs. Usually TVs are brighter and larger which again makes it seem even brighter. To me HDR is a HUGE selling point, and really does make a massive difference in movies and games. The colors, shadows and highlights just stand out so much.
Bought the PG32UCDM last week for £900. Its my first 4k monitor and OLED monitor. I am blown away the IQ is insane i geniunly cant get over how it makes my games look. I have been building computers for year and the last time anything that i would consider a night and day difference as this monitor compared to my 1440p monitor was going from HDD to a SSD.
I got the LG 1440p 240hz W-OLED, open box for 800 in 2023, back when it was 1k. I am so glad I did, it's easily the best thing I ever did. Say, if you have a 3080/3070, and you were looking to upgrade your monitor to a 4070ti/4080... don't. Just get the monitor instead. Such an amazing upgrade. Clarity and color is just so good.
When I was deciding on the last monitor I bought, it was between 4k/no HDR VS 1440p/HDR. I couldn't justify having less pixels just to have HDR that was such a hit and miss with the games back then. The issue with HDR is that many games just throw it in there to have it as option and don't really take advantage of it by optimizing it.
The change from lcd to oled is the same as going from 60hz to 144hz because the moment you try it you don't want to ever go back (at least in my opinion)
i see all these oled fans justifying their purchase to themselves by hyping it up by calling it "worth it" ... tell me when it gets below 500 usd... it happened with 240hz ips monitors.
how can I see any difference if I watch this video on IPS monitor, if I was watching on OLED maybe I could see difference but how it's possible to see difference on IPS?

I picked up the Alienware QD OLED ultrawide during Black Friday last year. Peior to BF, it was $1200. I got it for $800 and its been tbe biggest upgrade I've made to my setup in a long time. It's just completely better than even my high end mini-LED display or anything I've seen since plasma back in the day. It's truly a game changer for gaming on.
"1300 and still compromises is crazy" OLED is still very much an early-adopter type of panel tech for PC users, they're making fantastic strides with each generation, but you're going to be paying early-adopter prices for it. Also, in the real world, very few things truly do not have compromises. Life in general is all about comparing the benefits with the downsides and choosing what is worth it...10 years down the road there may be a point where OLED panels are mature enough that the prices come down, but just due to the nature of the design, I imagine that for example image-retention will always be more of a weakness for OLED's, compared with other panel types such as IPS, VA, or TN.
i baught a LG oled 40 inch c17 with an evo panel...4k hdr 120hz gsync! what do you need more? and for arround 1200€ new but was going for the used market and got one for 800€. best monitor ever!!!
I went from a 4k 60fps TN panel to 1440p 165hz IPS, massive difference in quality, input lag, and overall smoothness, could be placebo but I swear I got slightly better at games. I now have a samsung G6 360hz 1440p OLED and it's crazy how smooth motion is, I noticed the IPS had slight trails and motion blur on fast moving objects. Color and contrast is also a massive improvement. Pretty similar upgrade path for me as well, so I thought that was cool.
I still have a Samsung FHD 240hz VA monitor and have often thought about whether I should make the jump to OLED. There are really very good IPS monitors, but depending on the feature you can also go straight back to OLED. I know Samsung panels because I own Samsung monitors and cell phones myself. How do you find the G6 in the OLED version when it comes to gaming, watching movies and generally reading text?
Hey. I have that exact LG model too. I am also extremely pleased with the purchase. One problem I have with it is that sometimes, the USB hub just DOESN'T WANT TO F***ING WORK!!! Biggest improvement to it was peeling off the obnoxiously well glued on g-sync sticker.
I bought a LG 3440x1440 45" OLED monitor and I love it. Where you were showing 4 k with upscaling at 150ish max. I can get 220-240 in Horizon Forbidden West. Granted I am using a RX 7900 XTX card. Now part of why I wanted such a large monitor is that I keep my eyes over 5 feet away from the monitor.
Thinking of upgrading my 4k60hz ips monitor to a 1440p OLED 360hz samsung one. The 4k ips was originally a 1440p monitor that broke and i got sent a replacement, i bought two of those 1440p monitors so i still have the other. At first i was excited to get a pretty much free upgrade to 4k but over time i realised that having monitors of different resolutions, and habing a 4k monitor in general had some problems. I can definitely tell the difference between the two resolutions but I'd have to be pixel peeping. Text scaling when switching between monitors is annoying. Getting stuff to run at 4k isn't too difficult for 60hz but it would be impossible for 240hz with my system for most games, but when i had an older GPU I'd have ro set the resolution to 1440p which looked awful due to scaling and just using my 1440p monitor at native looked better. Overall i think going back to 1440p is the best choice tbh and the panel quality is far more important to me. I've been an OLED glazer for a decade now and i told myself I'd only upgrade from my very nice IPS if i could get a high refresh rate OLED 1440p+ monitor for a decent price and it mihht be happening soon :P
Disagree with the cost spiel. 10 years ago I got a dell U3014 it was $1400 monitor but a 1440p 30 inch 10 years ago. I still use it all the time for work. Monitors are meant to outlast many generations of PC. Select a monitor you think will last you at least 5 years and pick a price based on that.
That side by side is huge. I’ve had an oled ultrawide but I’ve never done a side by side like that. Has made me wonder how much better it really is. Seeing it like this I feel validated. That’s side by side is a game changer.
2:20 Correction, OLED is generally lit at a sub-pixel level, so a 4K TV might have over 8 million pixels, but it will have at least 24 million individually lit sub pixels, many TVs use multiple sub pixels of the same color to have better control over the brightness of each color so a 4K OLED with only ~8 million pixels, might have as many as 100 million OLEDs AKA individual dimming zones.
I bought the GLOSSY !!! 32" Dell AW3225QF. $899 on sale. Incredible. The best picture I have ever seen on my computer, and I have a 32" LG32GQ950 ATW Nano IPS too. Night and day. Love this Dell. The curve is SOOOO slight, you hardly notice it, but it also adds just a little something to games. Very happy. The M28105 Firmware fixes everything from Old reviews.
The black equlizer on your monitor will help more than HDR mode and games arent really using HDR much if at all. Its mostly for your blu-ray disks while having super resolution enabled where it shines. From my experience!!
Bought the LG 45 inch OLED monitor. It’s been amazing for ultra wide 1440p and got it open box from Best Buy for 950 bucks. Almost half off msrp. Replaced my LG C2. To me, I love the dark darks. Had the C2 for a few years and no burn after 1000s of hours.
I never seen content so clear when i got my monitor for christmas. the image looks so clean when i booted it up. I normally played fortnite at 1080p. I could go on and on about the imagine being clean.
Is that really the price? Early this year I bought the ASUS ROG Swift 41.5” 4K OLED Gaming Monitor (PG42UQ) on Amazon for $1199. It’s 138 MHz refresh rate not a 240 but I can live with that. It’s been an incredible monitor. The best thing about it is I used to need a separate pair of reading glasses but for some reason with this monitor I don’t.
I bought the same screen. It’s one of the first screens that combines 4K + 240Hz + 1000 nits (peak) HDR. And is OLED for deep backs and per pixel HDR. Two years ago you had to pay 3000$ for a 1000 zone local dimming over 1000 nits 32” 144Hz 4K monitor. That monitor had a loud fan. And it had a wobbling halo around your mouse cursor due to too coarse local dimming. It also lacked HDMI 2.1 ports (for consoles). So I wouldn’t be complaining about the price. It’s half the price of a similar two years older monitor and has fixed the haloing issue, no loud fan and higher refresh rate and faster pixels too. Two years ago I said that I buy a monitor like this if the price halves. And I did. And I got even better monitor too :)
Go for a 1440p oled....You can actually push the frames natively and get the full benefit of having a high refresh rate monitor, and they don't cost $1300. Gaming at 4K is at least a decade away from becoming common place.
It's crazy how i can see the difference between an OLED and an LCD on an older LCD-TN panel through a compressed video uploaded on youtube further compressing it.
You can also get a 4k 43" LG C4 for $900 (great option if you have the space to add a bit of distance between the screen and your seating position, i.e. wallmount and move the table off the wall) or a 34" 1440p 21:9 ultrawide OLED for $800 or less. If you can't really drive 4k at 100+ fps, you don't need to push to buy a 200hz+ monitor. OLED will still look great at lower refresh rates and the low response time will make the higher input lag from the low frame rate more bearable since the panel responds a little faster than IPS would. Single player titles don't need ultra fast refresh rates either, since due to consoles being kinda slow, gameplay is designed around 30fps framerate most of the time. Just avoid OLED alltogether if your room is super bright and you have a lot of light coming from behind you, get a mini-led screen in that case instead - they can get way brighter and have no risk of burn in. Same if you want to use the screen to show static images or some bright UI (i.e. Google Sheets) for hours at a time since that stuff will degrade the OLED much faster. Mini-led cost is also comparable to OLED.
One important factor is also that LG's qc has gone down the drain lately. It's very hard to get even acceptable IPS panel from them anymore brand new. I tried 3 before I lost hope and now saving for an OLED

It basically how we we initially thought that pixels work. That they’re little light bulbs

130 bucks less, one of the best OLEDs, 3-year warranty still on it (let's assume Asus will honor it) and its only open box, meaning there's a high likelihood that the previous owner just opened it and return it for any reason besides the monitor itself? Your ips monitor, old one, has absolutely zero ips bleed/glow. It is insane. Mine lg 27gl850 is full on the edges.
Mine with almost 1300 hours and that I bought used at 11225 has very few to none bleed or glow. It got kinda blurry recently though.
Any IPS has IPS glow, it's just a function of view point. Move yourself further or use longer focal length camera and it disappears.
While bleed is manufacturing problem that doesn't change with viewing position.
That's very rare and expensive OR just recorded right.

The 3 big cons of OLED:
1. Expensive.
Burn-in is vastly over estimated, it's basically not an issue anymore.

OLED black to white response time: 0,6ms

One aspect often overlooked in the LCD vs. OLED debate is the parallax effect that occurs near the edges of an LCD panel due to its polarization layer. While this issue is mainly noticeable on larger (32"+) flat panels, it can become quite irritating, especially if you use software with very thin or narrow scroll bars. OLEDs don't have this issue at all, next to the pure blacks and insane pixel response times, it's something that instantly stood out to me.

Still if overall picture is super bright youre so close to it's 250 nits limit, that even SDR at around 100% will look the same.
And the "washing out" apply only to blacks, because they get slight purple tint - other colors are untouched.
the msi 1440p, 240hz, 27inch IPS is PLENTY for me

Can someone read the fine print policy? Surely says a few dead pixels they do not cover. What are the warranty like from different brands and who has the best.
Does it have a glossy or matte finish?
That's why I went with a VA panel. Really high contrast, almost pitch black. No ghosting on my particular model at 240hz. It is 1080p but it was 1/10th of the price of this oled monitor. It's also more vibrant than the ips monitors I've used.
No black ghosting i doubt it. Unless va's have gotten that much better. Which 240hz va are you talking about genuinely curious to see rtings review on it.

- Awesome colors without tuning (in my opinion)
- 240 hz.
I want more mini-led monitors on the market
Led is ded, piss of kid
LG 42” C4 OLED = $1289AUD, 32” OLED = $2200, scratching head…oh it says gaming. Gaming tax = $1000

@@KingKogarasumaru
Yes, it does. And 1440p resolution too.
The change from lcd to oled is the same as going from 60hz to 144hz because the moment you try it you don't want to ever go back (at least in my opinion)
i see all these oled fans justifying their purchase to themselves by hyping it up by calling it "worth it" ... tell me when it gets below 500 usd... it happened with 240hz ips monitors.

i mean who pays 1300$ for a monitor without having 4090 gpu, you should have tested it with 4090

And still doesn't use dp 2.1 lmao
These people are consoomer NPCs, that do the latest thing the influencer on the screen tells them to. Absolutely wild...
Oled is the best forget everything else.
i baught a LG oled 40 inch c17 with an evo panel...4k hdr 120hz gsync! what do you need more? and for arround 1200€ new but was going for the used market and got one for 800€. best monitor ever!!!
Ok, but how at 2:24 am I supposed to tell the difference between QD-OLED, VA, WOLED and Mini LED on an IPS monitor?
Watched the video for a unique take on the ASUS 4K OLED monitor. Stayed for the cat at the end. Well done!
Don't tell him how far $1400 would have gotten you for a monitor 20 years ago lol
Monitors plural xD
Had the C2 for a few years and no burn after 1000s of hours.
ive been rocking the lg c2 for like 2 years now, probably buy a second one down the road.
I never seen content so clear when i got my monitor for christmas. the image looks so clean when i booted it up. I normally played fortnite at 1080p. I could go on and on about the imagine being clean.
At what hz do you lose 4:4:4 chroma in 4k?
Is that really the price? Early this year I bought the ASUS ROG Swift 41.5” 4K OLED Gaming Monitor (PG42UQ) on Amazon for $1199. It’s 138 MHz refresh rate not a 240 but I can live with that. It’s been an incredible monitor.
The best thing about it is I used to need a separate pair of reading glasses but for some reason with this monitor I don’t.
I appreciate that you're directly comparing the monitor I currently have, to the monitor I want.
I bought this same PG32UCDM, absolute game changer, never going anything lower than 4k.
Has HDMI 2.1 and has 95W charging over fast USB-C port capable of 4K 240Hz signal for laptop use. And KVM switch for laptop + desktop seamless use.
This is the first no-compromise monitor for me. Two years ago I said that I buy a monitor like this if the price halves. And I did. And I got even better monitor too :)
I expect us to get even better monitor two years later at half the price. But this is the cheapest monitor with these specs today.
Go for a 1440p oled....You can actually push the frames natively and get the full benefit of having a high refresh rate monitor, and they don't cost $1300. Gaming at 4K is at least a decade away from becoming common place.
@natefiet4961 Very true. That and the jump isn't as noticable as going from 1080 to 2k. Really not worth the extra money.
