Hey LTT some feedback: I'd suggest to study the manual of the products before shooting the video. Plouffe misunderstood the "clamp" part of the light bar. In 6:19 he thinks he's showing the "clamp", but that's actually just the tension adjustment for the clamp, you're not supposed to put anything between the circular parts like he implies in 6:52. The actual clamp is just between the rubberized circular dome thing, and the little L-part close to the light. When you adjust the tension like shown in 6:19, the hinge's spring will put more force between that L-part and the rubber dome.
4:07, they're supposed to be handles; the foam sleeve you remove the display from has two hand pictures with arrows pointing to the sides, indicating that's how you remove it from the box.
I'll give my 2cents about this monitor, I have it and it has one of the worst HDR implementation out there. SDR content looks washed out if you enable HDR mode, and the color banding is crazy, and can't adjust color settings in monitor if HDR mode is on. My AW3423DW has a much better implementation than this.
What firmware and settings? I have one too, and while it certainly has it's flaws, I perceive the SDR content to be only very slightly washed out. Still looks better than the SDR IPS screens I have next to it. I had to change the SDR content brightness settings in windows, though. But that probably applies for all HDR displays.
You're not supposed to enable HDR while viewing SDR content Rec709 color graded content is for SDR mode only, you're trying to force HDR, which is BT2020, into a rec709 container Turn off AUTO HDR on your console or computer and don't use HDR unless the game natively supports it.
@@wodensthrone5215 theoretically SDR in an HDR container should not be an issue. Rec709 fits into bt2020 without any clipping. In practise you are right though, as most HDR displays including this one have to aggressively tonemap bt2020 and are needlessly applying that on the SDR in HDR container as well. In case of my display I find the result to be acceptable, but native SDR is better. With a perfect display there would be no difference though. Except for maybe barely visible quantization errors.
@davidruppelt Anyone from the ISF (Image Science Foundation) would tell you not to force REC709 content into a bt2020 container and vice versa, you got people on here who buy these expensive displays and don't even know what the fuck they're talking about. Not every game implements HDR the same way, some do it really good, like Horizon Zero Dawn, some do it really bad, like Starfield, on the games that do it really bad, the image will always look bad, so turn off the HDR. Auto HDR isn't native support, you're trying to force Bt2020 onto an image that was coded/mastered in rec709, which as i mentioned, anyone from the Image Science Foundation will tell that doing that is stupid.
@@caluhu But you can't remove the bump. If you don't want to put something underneath the monitor, it is fine. I actually like how it makes it very easy to find the menu controls. I got the Gigabyte FO32U2 a few months ago (it was $999 at the time) which is the exact same panel. The MSI MAG321UPX is also the same panel, but their OLED pixel cleaning is not customizable and was shutting off the monitor every 4 hours! Only the LG is a different panel (WOLED vs QDOLED) , so my personal choice was to avoid the ROG tax. Keep in mind qd oled has some advantages but the main disadvantage is it does not have good black levels in a room with any ambient light in it. If the room is lit enough qdoled can have worse black levels than lcd even.
The lightbar is awful, it looks terrible on top of the monitor. And everytime some component gets "gamified", it signals to other manufacturers that they can jack prices up. It happened with headsets, chairs, and now it's gonna happen to monitor arms. Great. Just fucking great.
Why do tech manufacturers always make sure to make their products as ugly as possible? Like it's not that hard to just copy the most expensive company ever - apple. I just want a high refresh rate Oled glossy monitor in normal design. Why would I want to see this bs rog logo underneath the screen?
Absolutely. Ive been trying to find for a decent 120hz 30/32” monitor that doesn’t look like something out of an early 2000’s movie about hackers. Why cant we just have a clean design that doesn’t cost the earth?
This monitor arm is sick! However, I didn't notice if there is an option to fix it on the wall. I say this because some desks cannot withstand the pressure or weight of such a monitor, even cracking over time. I use a 34 21.9 monitor and it was necessary to fix it on the wall.
Love ya ASUS but pushing a light bar with a monitor that does not have a polarizing layer is legitimately hilarious. Background light/ low room light pretty much the only thing acceptable with QD-OLED screens currently.
The numbers on the side of the monitor's arm are coordinates to Asus in Taiwan. This would have been the perfect opportunity for ASUS to provide an adapter to install the light bar to the monitor using a hand tightening screw. Even if it means you may need to buy separately. Even better, include it with the light bar.
Interesting that it has S/PDIF. I suppose that would be handy for running an HDMI from your PC to the monitor, then a S/PDIF to an external dac and headphone amp, but that's a pretty darn specific use case. I wonder what else it would be useful for. I'm stoked with the Dell monitor I picked up at the start of the summer. It has a 2.5GbE port which allows me to hard wire my laptop. One USB-C cable 90W power, video and network connectivity. Best part of all is it only cost $400 since I bought an open-box unit.
I bought the PG32UCDM when it first released and it died on me with a simple click and puff of smoke during normal use. OK, no big deal, I'll use the advanced replacement RMA on the warranty. NOPE. Took a month to get a replacement and that was only after making a big stink about it. AND they wanted to send me a 3 year old IPS as a replacement... Be wary, ASUS product support is all but disappeared.
So I have this light bar on my setup, and in all honesty there aren't really any complaints minus one specific issue that may or may not be a deciding factor for some people: Depending on your monitor, the giant circular weight on the back that keeps it in place makes it a little difficult to keep the light bar itself leveled on the monitor. I have to readjust it constantly, otherwise I have the bar slightly slopes downward to the right, and it kills me looking at it lmao Not a horrible issue, and it does work as it should, but for someone like me who is a bit of a perfectionist, it's hard to not notice it :L
What do you mean buyer's regret...? You have gotten to experience your monitor for over 2 years now. I also preordered the AW3423DW and even though I could get basically the same monitor for half the price now I still do not regret it and I never thought I would spend that much on a monitor. It is the single most substantial upgrade I have ever done to my PC and it is not even close. OLED is the way to go. I think everyone should except for the very most budget conscious buyers should own one.
PG32UCDP is a better buy. especially for those with any light in the room. more features, a half matte screen and one that doesnt pick up any ounce of light in the room and makes the oled blacks grey and gross. QD may have better saturation but the WOLED variant has brighter, 1080 480hz, and a more enjoyable experience in a much greater range of viewing environments.
Light bar with a QD Oled seems a bit weird with the whole nature of the lack of polarizing layer and becoming less contrasty! Seems like a lot of the other reviews have not had great color accuracy compared to the other QD Oled monitors.
I dont get how Linus can say they dont shill and then they take a sponsorship to review products like these that are unreasonably expensive. The only people buying these are making 6 figures or their employer is paying for it. consumers need to stop buying products at these price points and reviewers need to stop selling them.
Love my PG48UQ, and now I can't imagine having any smaller. Works perfect with my 4090 I9-13900k custom water cooled setup. CAD work is a dream on it, but I'm not sure on gaming performance since I only ever play Minecraft and never play any other games.
@@tarakivu8861 the entire issue is it should be cheaper with its limited lifespan. I shouldn't have to pay 1200 bucks for a 32 inch 4k monitor, give me a 1440p oled display that's 165hz that's less than 600
I actually hate my ROG OLED. I hate the fact that the automatic dimming happens. Anyone know if this can be disabled? Does it shorten the monitor lifespan?
1: dimming probably in service menu. How to enter you need to Google for your model. 2: everything, except switching it off, shortening Oled lifespan. If you planning to use it more than 5 years than just don't touch anything. Especially monitor. Or buy ips.
So...we just watched an 11 minute ad, right? There was no critical analysis of this monitor, how's the text on the new subpixel layout, what other features does it offer, ulmb etc? This whole channel should be renamed to "LTT - Advertising"
You do realize that's the literal exact reason why LTT created ShortCircuit, right? The videos on this channel are specifically for showcasing sponsored products (most, if not all?), and are ONLY meant to be unboxing/first impression-type videos, nothing else. You will never find in-depth or "techy" reviews on ShortCircuit because they do those on LTT. It's actually a very worthwhile distinction that I greatly appreciate: I watch LTT for the techy stuff, ShortCircuit for unboxings, TechQuickie for news...I consistently know what general type of content to expect before ever even clicking on the video just because of which channel they posted it to
@@FO0TMinecraftPVP so, i want you to critically think about what you just said and try to explain why that would even be the case. Here is a small tip, the answer is no.
Ok, I might be dumb on this. Why not buy a 4k 120 TV and put it in game mode? I mean, you get HDR, and most TVs have Vesa. You can look up response time on rtings. It's much cheaper and seems better on paper. I must be missing something. Is there even a reason to buy a"monitor" over a TV when they are now basically the same but different shells?
Unboxing and evaluate ASUS tech, yes, I can see that. But seriously, after all of what's been happening with ASUS, you still receive sponsor from this untrusty brand ?
Since when did LTT start doing ASUS sponsorships again? They said back in January that they stopped all their 2024 contracts because ASUS had failed to improve their customer support. Have ASUS actually improved their support now?
Any amount of flicker bothers me, and RTings review says it has noticeable VRR flicker. Kind of makes me want to just wait on any new OLED panel purchase. My non-OLED Ultrawide has some flicker and it bothers me now, and I would definitely notice VRR flicker.
The reason that the 90w via USB-C is not turned on, is because it lowers the peak brightness (not by much tho) we are talking like 5-10 nits. But ye, why bother testing for those things 🤷♂🙄
Yeah really. I also find it humorous they include a light bar with a QD-OLED monitor. You know the panel tech that produces washed out blacks if any external light hits it. And they came up with the "brilliant" idea of mounting a light bar to shine down on it at all times. Facepalm moment right there. Anyone seriously looking at external lights should research "bias lighting". It's far more useful than this dingy light bar on top of the monitor.
@@Raivo_K If you have your lightbar setup correctly you get basically zero direct light on the monitor itself because they angle the LEDs. You do get some backsplash from your desk if its light colored and you can see a reflection if you put your head really low. It also doesn't shine directly into your eyes either if you get it set to the right height. It helps a ton with eye strain.
@@stephencoakley So you can actually see things. When your room lights are off. Because your room lights wash out the blacks on OLED monitors especially.
At 32" it's not a monitor it's a TV. At that size your face needs to be at around 1.2 meters away from it. So with the stand your desk should be 1.3 meters wide? I have a 28 and sometimes I'm not sure if it isn't too big for gaming on my standard 160x80 desk.
I'd be disappointed if it's not dead on arrival and with filled of quality control issues, by know I expect Asus to live up to the news, the expectations, the legend and shit's so bad with this fucking brand that it got to the point that I can sadly say I expect Asus to live up to the selling broken shit memes... lets watch the video and see how it goes, they should at least have been careful enough send something that works when they are sponsoring and need to look good like if nothing fishy was going on. Edit: and it uses another piece of asus bloatware lol because like having a pc full of components that dont work properly, work worse or don't work because of their intended software wasn't bad enough (armory not getting fixed for 6 years for top of the line components), now you also need peripherals that will have you fighting them before you can fight in the game, ROG is so no gamer, with all the shit that doesn't work as intended and are not properly accessible to the final customer at the end they are somehow becoming the Apple of custom pcs, overpriced and underspecced. At least they were careful enough to send a working sample... I'd expected the pr people again handling the fires while the incompetents in control hide behind time zone differences and made up bullshit *BTW* I went full rog on my pc when they Asus "was good"(or at least not at bad) thinking it would be cool, it made me hate rgb, I almost wanted to move into consoles, I wish I didn't use any rog nor rgb shit, don't go rog guys, I don't know if other brands have working software but asus definitely doesn't, its a bet whether their shitware works or no and with what combination of pieces, specially on the mobos, their high end overclocking features not worth it unless you are kingpin and they are not exclusive anyways so you can look for quality somewhere else and you don't wan't everything's drivers, not even crashing, directly not working and receiving updates that wont fix anything or will somehow break it even worse even if it was so bad that seemed impossible
The thread mount on the top of the stand seems a useful feature, but in reality.......who mounts a webcam or ring light that far down from the top edge of their monitor? They'd have to get an extension rod to do so, and I'm not sure all models of webcams and ring lights come together with an extension rod. If I'm going to have to buy another product and fiddle with it and hopefully it matches two things from probably two different manufacturers in order to use that thread mount, I think I'd rather just put the webcam or ring light on the top edge of my monitor. Just too many variables in between in order to use that thread mount.

Does it have any annoying status lights when it's in sleep mode or something? Reviewers always skip over asking "what's the experience once the computer is turned off and I'm trying to sleep in the same room?" I bought a Samsung G5 based on an LTT review and now I have a VERY BRIGHT blue LED flashing all night long. Nothing says "lack of foresight" quite like having to permanently add electrical tape to an expensive pice of electronics day 1 😡
Disappointing they still stuck with the 2 HDMI and 1 DP like most companies do, really don't get that since for a computer monitor you're much more likely to be using DP, the dual DP plus 1 HDMI on my Alienware AW3423DWF is something I love since I work from home so my monitor does double duty as my gaming PC monitor plus my work PC monitor, and both can be connected via the preferable DP connection.
They should make pins (like ipad smart connector) to connect the lightbar to the monitor and save the cable clutter… same pins could be use for webcams etc. and usb and power from the monitor itself.
I have this monitor. It is amazing. By far the most I have ever spent on a monitor and I do not regret it. Such an incredible picture and experience in general.
Should make a note of what size/aspect ratio monitors will match the monitors you review. Like is this the same width as a 34" ultrawide or the same height as the width of a 24" 1080p monitor?
Returned my Asus QD-Oled G32UCDM because of the purple tint and because of the bracket one has to use in order to wall mount it. I now have two Samsung 32 G80SDs instead as the matte coating does lessen the purple tint quite a lot.
Not a fan of a lightbar on a QD-OLED panel, adding extra ambient light to a QD panel is not the play.... I think some nice ambient lighting is the way to go on something like that
32 is too big. 24_27 is just right, depending on desk size. They're just pushing size to fit in more with panel supply chains. Check viewsonic for real world performance for buck ratio. Clearly this is a good panel but pricey
I don't quite understand the odd way the light bar mounts when there is a screw hole on top of the monitor. Also I'm not sure if I'm the only one but I'd prefer to have a light bar under my monitor rather than on top

So I have this light bar on my setup, and in all honesty there aren't really any complaints minus one specific issue that may or may not be a deciding factor for some people:
Depending on your monitor, the giant circular weight on the back that keeps it in place makes it a little difficult to keep the light bar itself leveled on the monitor. I have to readjust it constantly, otherwise I have the bar slightly slopes downward to the right, and it kills me looking at it lmao
Not a horrible issue, and it does work as it should, but for someone like me who is a bit of a perfectionist, it's hard to not notice it :L
QD may have better saturation but the WOLED variant has brighter, 1080 480hz, and a more enjoyable experience in a much greater range of viewing environments.
Yeah there should be more than just a one letter difference between products with two different panel types, very easy to confuse customers this way.
1: dimming probably in service menu. How to enter you need to Google for your model.

It's actually a very worthwhile distinction that I greatly appreciate: I watch LTT for the techy stuff, ShortCircuit for unboxings, TechQuickie for news...I consistently know what general type of content to expect before ever even clicking on the video just because of which channel they posted it to
They tested the color accuracy, better than most ads.

Asus... Thanks but no thanks.
The reason that the 90w via USB-C is not turned on, is because it lowers the peak brightness (not by much tho) we are talking like 5-10 nits.
But ye, why bother testing for those things 🤷♂🙄
STOP WITH THE LIGHT BARS!
Na, I Like them
Yeah really.
I'd expected the pr people again handling the fires while the incompetents in control hide behind time zone differences and made up bullshit
*BTW* I went full rog on my pc when they Asus "was good"(or at least not at bad) thinking it would be cool, it made me hate rgb, I almost wanted to move into consoles, I wish I didn't use any rog nor rgb shit, don't go rog guys, I don't know if other brands have working software but asus definitely doesn't, its a bet whether their shitware works or no and with what combination of pieces, specially on the mobos, their high end overclocking features not worth it unless you are kingpin and they are not exclusive anyways so you can look for quality somewhere else and you don't wan't everything's drivers, not even crashing, directly not working and receiving updates that wont fix anything or will somehow break it even worse even if it was so bad that seemed impossible
Probably would have been better to design the lightbar to attach/power via magnetic connectors on the top of the monitor. Less cables, less clutter.
