I'm the guy at 15:08! The laptop is actually mounted with thick double-sided tape, not just masking tape. Thought it made it look extra sh*tty so I kept it on there. Thanks for featuring me!
LTT should do a new series called, "Battlestation Duels". Two LTT employees are randomly chosen to compete with each other to create the best battlestation room setup in their homes. They are each given the same amount of money and a specific amount of time to finish their room setup. Linus and two other judges get to nitpick and critique their setups and the new room decor that complements their battlestations. The winner is chosen by the LTT audience. The player with the most votes gets to keep their battlestation. The loser has to tear theirs down and gets nothing.
I realize it's a joke, but the "remortgage your house for RGB lighting" joke actually trends in the opposite direction: at this point, it's so built-in that when I'm weighing options, the one RGB can end up being the cheaper one.
Stumbled across this absurd reality recently while looking at CPU coolers, same model, only difference being RGB vs no RGB. The latter was more expensive.
RGB adjacent... I was literally unable to find a reasonable case without a glass side panel in my area in a pinch. They are very rare. You either need to get it delivered from afar, or lower your standards (foil thin metal, unpainted insides, inconvenient mounting layout, sharp metal edges) or overpay for the "privilege" of no glass.
6:03 Wow, that's a cool set of classic speakers. Recognized them immediately as a pair of B&W DM620i speakers from the early 90s (I have the floorstanding bigger brother DM630i that I would still be using today if not for lack of space in my apartment). They still look great 30 years later, and I bet they sound excellent as well.
Recently, a little too many react to user stuff. Don’t get me wrong, it is entertaining content but it’s not quality content that teaches about tech in a fun way, which is kinda why I subscribe and watch. 🤷🏻♂
Reaction videos are the lowest form of content on RUclips and I typically block all channels that regularly post them. Only reason I am still subscribed to LTT is I am a longtime viewer and like a lot of their other videos. Wish they would create a separate LTT Reacts channel or something.
It was proven to be a render. In addition, the OP was marketing "TRYX" products, albeit in a very indirect manner. The post(s) ended up getting removed because of this.
Regarding the first setup, as a physicist coding with the keyboard on my lap would be a special kind of nightmare. I need a proper desk and chair to be able to keep my sanity.
@21:40: Linus, roasting a desk for it's literal purpose, providing a space to put things down on. (And then, presumably, removing it, instead eternally gathering random crap like junk mail.)
Watching all these LTT reactions to other people's setups, I now realise that my setup is a mix between cool, interesting, a hoarder's den and absolute insanity.
And sometimes you can even talk to your IT department, because they can have too much of older monitors they had as spares or "just in case" that went "obsolete" when they upgraded the company's fleet, or if they "loaned" them to remote workers for the pandemic.
27:02 i miss LANs so much man, everyone i use to game with as a child went their separate ways in life. We sort of did the same thing for borderlands 3 but it was over discord and it just didn't have the same vibe. I would do a SFF build if LANs came back in popularity in my area; i don't know how i would fit a 7900xtx in a SFF case but i'm sure i could figure something out hahaha [
I’m a new Electrical Engineer in the PCB design space and work provides 2 monitors + a laptop. 2 monitors for Altium, 1 for data sheets and I wish I had an addition for MS teams/more data sheets. You can never have enough monitors.
21:07 That's a Last of Us quote. Ellie says that as she's getting her first view of the city after leaving the quarantine zone. Makes sense considering the art at the top of the photo.
Don't know how it is in Canada. but here in the USA, a unfinished space, like the garage in the second to last setup, or a basement don't count towards living spaces, and so aren't taxed. so buddy should totally not paint his walls XD
I almost threw up laughing when Elijah started assigning different brain rot content to each of the first ultimate battle station’s monitors. Now I can’t stop hiccuping, and I haven’t had hiccups in years.
20:56 Which is why I got a basic stand so I can see my Phone's AOD Clock, granted I can still see if there are missed messages but I usually wait till like between rounds or something to reply.
Luke I used to have two monitors but switched to a single ultrawide and honestly don't miss it much. I used to struggle with speaker placement with two monitors but now it is very easy
I use a LG 72 inch oled tv as my monitor and I love it, my games look good on it and I never really got into competitive games so I don’t even notice any input lag or whatever it’s called. I have the big tv for games and computer use and then I have a cheap 32 inch Roku tv that’s got my security camera dvr hooked up to so I got a constant view around my property while playing games
15:00 Always store your guns in a locked safe, also never keep the gun loaded! In the event of an emergency you want to make sure you have absolutely no time to grab your lifeline.
Just wanted to touch on the monitor lamp. While I don’t like it, for color grading spaces you typically want to have a lamp that faces behind monitor to the wall (50% grey color) that is color accurate so you have a neutral point for reference during the grade. You can find this at many color grading houses in LA. That being said I have no idea what these people are doing pointing the lamp on the monitor that’s wild.
Elijah was at most 9 (assuming he is 26 now) when the "Night Elf Mohawk" commercial with Mr. T was released, I think he can be excused for not knowing it.
I would just like to confirm that there are truck drivers with *checks steam* 148 hours in American Truck Sim. Sometimes it's nice to do my job without all the BS.
I use to the do the dual monitor setup but found that it made me less productive, sure for a gaming system its no big deal but when I started working from home the extra real estate was just being used for things not work related and causing distractions. Went back to just a single 32 mon and I get things done faster.
Luke you are wrong I got a second monitor and I never use it. I have it on my monitor arm but it is always off. It is distracting and hurts my eyes because of the extra light. So yes you can go back after you used 2 monitors
Like Linus points out- multimonitors is not that opulant anymore. I have 8 monitors. Two of them are 24" monitors attached to a laptop- those three $0 because they belong to work. Two of them are 22" monitors that I was given by a friend who wanted 24" monitors and when he upgraded, just wanted them gone. Two of them are 24" monitors that I bought used as a pair on ebay for $120, I had to replace one of them (after five years) for $40. ($160 total so far) One of them is a 40" TV that I bought at Goodwill for $25 and then spent $10 on a power cord + remote on. Almost all of them run through cables that were found at Goodwill or the bottom end cables from Amazon 15 years ago this would have been like $2,000 worth of monitors.
Linus, you are still still wrong about the monitor lamp. The DO NOT SHINE ON YOU MONITOR. They illuminate the space in front of it. They are literally the same, if not better than a normal desk lamp. Also ROCK AND STONE
13:00 When you buy a $150 mouse used it turns into a more reasonable $60 mouse. Or even less if it had a problem and you fix it, like replacing double clicking switches
To go against Luke's point, I've used 2 monitors, then 3, then back to 2... Now I only have 1, and it's not even ultrawide, just a regular big 16:9. At some point I figured that multitasking only made me absolutely not have focus on anything, now I only multitask when strictly necessary by splitting the screen. If you know yourself, you should make your environment work for you 😄

True lol. So many cases with RGB fans are cheaper than the counterpart with high performance non-rgb fans
Stumbled across this absurd reality recently while looking at CPU coolers, same model, only difference being RGB vs no RGB. The latter was more expensive.
