lmfao, "40 series complete disappointment" as it is single handedly the largest jump per generation for raster gaming ever...love ya'll but seriously who wrote this garbage?
So true. My PHILIPS has four USBs that pass through a USBC to my laptop, and I have two occupied by a webcam and a speaker. I use the other two for connecting to debugging tools for microcontrollers and usually I keep them occupied with a type-C cable for newer boards and my phone, a type-B cable for older boards and my DSLR camera. When something uses a micro-B, I would rather unplug my USB speaker and use its cable than unplug anything from the monitor because it's such a nightmare. I like how this monitor has the two USB ports down there so it's way easier to reach.
Mac Address is fine, I watch it (usually). But I think I actually like Horst's cameos better. I like seeing the way he imposes his strong opinions on others.
I feel like it's a 100 percent certainty that Horst has at least one older sibling. He just has that knack for being annoying. Not overtly annoying mind you; I rather like him as a personality on LMG. But his version of annoying is not one that someone can be born with. It's an acquired skill :)
Outside of QD OLED, it doesn’t seem like the monitor space is making leaps and bounds. These lcd monitors need local dimming of some sort to make that next jump
I have the older AW2721D, and it's glorious. For the older one, you must use non-gaming mode with the slowest response time setting of "Fast" to keep the image crisp and not overdrive/overshoot. I suspect you using the middle setting is why you're seeing the overdrive issues. Response time should still be decent with the lowest setting.
Great to hear that you like it. Right now it's my top choice to buy, also above this one in the video because of the G-Sync module; I heard the software implementation is not always as good with some monitors compared to those with a module. Thanks for sharing the settings tip!
I have the same monitor as well! Very happy with mine, the jump from 60 to 240hz was so jarring (in a good way). 1440p is honestly the sweet spot for resolution as well, I'd rather have more frames than play at 4k anyway.
@@friedrich1277 The S2721DGF is not the same panel as the AW2721D based on everything on Rtings. The RGB subpixels are even shaped differently. Compared to the AW2721D, the S2721DGF does not support HDR, has lower brightness, worse viewing angles, and doesn't have a G-Sync module. Not sure if you can OC the S2721DGF to 240hz, but it is missing a whole lot of hz, which makes it cheaper. Based on the features, the AW2723DF seems more like a AW2721D panel without G-Sync Ultimate.

I have the monitor for a few weeks and can confirm that it's amazing. I just hate myself a bit for not doing enough research before buying this one because I just realized that the first 1440p, 360hz monitor is about to launch.
I use portrait mode every single day because I use it to read comics, articles and stuff. So you get so much more of the page on one screen. Its nice being able to rotate it easily. Although I do have a vesa mount so it doesn't really matter to me if the stand is capable of it.
Portrait capable stands (especially both directions) are amazing to have even if you intend to use it landscape, as: a) they tend to be quite sturdy, well built and can be adjusted for if the surface isn't totally flat.. and b) it is infinitely easier to access the plugs on the back in portrait.. No need to shove your face under the screen to try and see which plug goes where followed by stabbing blindly and hoping you get the right one
The point of the video was not that vertical is not useful but that this specific monitor with high refresh is probably too expensive to use as a (secondary) vertical monitor. There are plenty other options that have less features but that are a lot cheaper and might be a better bang for buck as a vertical monitor.

3:20 The click it amd pull out screen is the way samsung recommends it for every single monitor I bought. The 24 inch gaming monitor and the M5 32 inch did the same thing just with different stand design for obvious weight differences. For any other screen I strongly recommend doing it as close to this as possible. Leave it in the foam and protective sleave in the box and take the BACK foam off and install whatever stand you decide to rock. For wall mount its the same but the plate needs to attach to the wall bracket or arm. Leave MORE cable for adjustment on any PC peripheral not just screens. I had to rip my setup appart because of short cables and it wasnt FUN. Happy building gamers!
Yeah on big curved monitors keeping the big ass Box around is actually really handy if you have to take it of the wall. Just plop it back into the packaging face down and it's nicely protected and supported through out the entire display.
I recently purchased this on Black Friday sales and no regret. I had purchased a 27” LG oled and returned it for this. Half the price, not as good colour clarity but with all the issues LG oleds have with Gsync issues / burn in I think I’ll wait until the tech gets better. For now this is half the price and no buyer regret.

I would without a doubt use this in portrait mode for my secondary display if I have two of these. I can look at my PDFs and and technical documents in full 240Hz goodness.
I think being able to rotate the display’s quite an underrated feature! I mean, I get the monitor’s still quite expensive but in the future, I might get two of these to put as a dual monitor (one horizontal, one vertical) and have them set to the same settings so it’s more consistent! much better than having the Studio Display from Apple as a second display considering the price XD
Agreed I have 3 studio displays on VESA mounts, connected to a Mac Studio. LOOKS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. I switch between displaying the Mac and switch to the PC frequently. My PC is mainly a server, but I still run games on it. Mac is the daily powerhouse. I would for sure setup another desk in another room and buy 2 or 3 of these on VESA mounts and have a dedicated gaming rig. Someday🤞
Its a very good Display., I have been using Shamesung LG and Gigabyte and now have an Asuss. But when i got this beast for my main gaming this blows everything out. The HDR is speechless and and amazing panel. You have to switch it to Game HDR for a good HDR for game.

I tried this out as a replacement to my AW 360Hz 1080p Monitor (from 2020), but ended up returning it and staying with the 360Hz. On extreme response time this 1440p monitor has 3x the inverse ghosting as the 360hz. Really makes a difference if all you plan to play is FPS games, so for stuff like VALORANT I'd pass on this one. For almost every other game though, the 1440p 280hz beats out last gen's 360hz.
Most of the time the fastest option on response time is not useable, normally you have to check out the 2. fastest option (which adds 1-2ms input lag which makes no difference).
I recently got my first OLED monitor that was on my laptop. Liked it so much. We upgraded our living room TV from LED to OLED. My pixel 7 is also OLED. Oleds looks so much better as someone who's picky. I will never use another traditional LED monitor. Maybe would make an exception if there was a really really good 1440p micro LED out there, but I haven't looked yet. The reason the prices are dropping is because OLED prices are dropping an IPS glow is s***.
I understand this is for the hard-core gamers, but I got a gigabyte m32qc on Newegg for $200. 32 inch 1440p 170hz curved monitor, and don't let people tell you a VA panel is bad. For content watching if your up close it's not crazy good but for gaming it's so good. I get no ghosting and none of the Ips glow that I had before. Plus my Ips panel before I could never get bright enough, with my VA panel that's not the case.. in some cases it's a bit to bright. All I'm really getting at is you don't always need a $600 monitor to have a great experience. Love the videos though!!
Second note, because I can't tell based on the resolution I watch at if you're playing Halo: Infinite but the motion blur you see is called object motion blur and you cant turn it off. There are games where they have this weird basic (admittedly what motion blur SHOULD HAVE BEEN) semi-decent implementation that you can't turn off most of the time even if actual motion blue and post processing is off.
Labs Do monitors Which monitors ACTUALLY are close to real colours? What does DCI-P3 and sRGB and Adobe mean? Do indepth videos on that too please and thank you.
If only there were a drop down menu to specify that the reason I unsubscribed from all LTT channels is due to the shear volume of non-descript clickbait video titles irritatingly filling up my subscription feed. It's an irritant, bye.
I have the older version of this monitor. I don't care about the way it looks but the thing that grinds my gears is it working with windows to install the disease of Alienware Control Center. The fact that I have to go deep into windows just to click f off with the automatic updates for things like this is insane.
12:24 That was the BEST ufo test filmed that I have ever seen! Thanks to the panning shot I could actually pause the vid and compare the 3 UFOs by myself, props to that!
I can understand the lack of DisplayPort 2.0, but no HDMI 2.1? Sure, it’s 1440p. But there are still situations where having full 2.1 would be beneficial at that resolution. But hey, at least the price is somewhat reasonable.
@@riba2233 I am not missing the point. I know it’s a gaming monitor. I also know that devices aren’t 100 percent used for their core purpose. I feel that in 2022 USB-C/Thunderbolt should be an ecosystem option on a device at this price for any accessory that might conceivably come along while USB-C is the “current” connection spec. In my particular case, if I have a gaming computer and also a locked down work laptop with pure USB-C for power and video (which I do), being able to connect in and out simply for both usage cases would have been nice.
I have a single 34 ultrawide and I routinely turn it portrait for articles, code, and a few mobile ports. I like the option of turning it 90 degrees on demand
I’m pushing a 60fps-limited Dell U3818DW (i.e. 38” from 2018, and only an office-oriented monitor) with a 3080 Ti. It’s kind of ridiculous to not be seeing the full capability of the GPU, but I’ve been so used to uber-slow fps before now that I’m really happy with the locked 60fps.
Imo, the monitor is the most important thing in a gaming rig, you 100% should've upgraded it first. It doesn't matter with what graphical settings and at how many FPS you play, if the game cant look great on the panel and the panel cant refresh fast enough
There is a tool that lets you create new monitor profiles and test them out. My old Dell 21.5 IPS was able to run at 72hz with no frame tearing or flickers after 15ish minutes of fiddling. It's totally worth it
Ur basically waisting that 3080ti, if ur happy with that performance sell it and just get a 3060. But Isnt that like a $1k monitor? (On amazon for $1200) like why would u buy that with all the better options? Sell that shit and upgrade, u can get a 49" 1440p 144hz Samasung G9 for less than u prob paid for that thing lol
@@verakoo6187 right?? I have a 3080ti paired with a 5900x and I'd rather sell my computer than go back to a 60hz display 😬 he's leaving like double the performance on the table. Dude needs to upgrade and is trying to justify it to himself 😂 if he won't upgrade, sell that 3080ti. Get a 3060, you're wasting all of that extra juice man I just can't fathom why the hell you'd do that to yourself 😅
There'd have to be some kinda miracle for QD-OLED 1080p screens to ever be manufactured to any degree. Drawing pads aren't offering a lot of options for even QLED. In fact that detail is left pretty vague on a lot of products. Not that it matters for me specifically cause I found the only drawing pad in the world that supports full fat HDMI/Displayport TOGETHER (Kamvas 24 Pro 2.5K), I'll accept that as it is QLED or not.
Man, back when Alienware was good and not owned by Dell, I use to spend hours specing out crazy sick rigs on their website that I still wouldn’t be able to afford 15 years later
240 should be about as perfect as it gets. It's super fast for games and divides perfectly by 24, 30 and 60. So I would absolutely not overclock this display.
guys, please do at least like hand smartphone highfps capture on UFO test or something cause it really tells everything about panels, noone buys 240hz honestly for DCI P3 coverage or HDR, mostly for motion clarity and this is where IPS usually suck
after using the AW3423DW and the LG C2 42” on a daily basis, I cannot possibly downgrade to anything that isn’t OLED tech….not even the best mini LED in the market
I like Plouffe. He has a very relatable nature. Like he's not some professional actor reading a script but just a regular guy who's knowledgeable about his passions and hobbies. He's very low key and just seems like a good dude. Keep up the good work!
this plus only a single display port and two hdmi ports?? what about people who use the same monitor for more than one computer? pc + laptop setups are very common especially since corona hit
I gotta give it to Dell/AW for all the crap they push out, they've been really good on the monitor side of things. Other than a few packaging issues with the AW3423dw, they provide a good range of stuff at really good sale prices.
I got the aw3423dw and I did not put that cover on. I didn't remember that I didn't until it was mentioned in this video. There is no angle in my room where you could possibly see it
I agree with your coworker for one reason: You are doing a review for people that might buy it and place it in the middle of the room, so not putting the cover on for a review is pretty lazy considering some viewers might want to see it with for their use-case. But I also fully agree that for non-reviewers why bother with the cover, if you put it against the wall.
I'm spoiled by 32" curved now. If this was 32"/34", oled/qd oled, curved(1000r to 1500r is perfect, 1800r is too aggressive for 30-40 inches), 280hz, 1440p/1600p, and hdr600 certified, I'd buy it, no matter the price. 10-bit is a nice cherry on top, but not necessary.
Good things are good, of course. But "in my day" we played Quake, Doom 1&2, Wolfenshtain 3d, .... on 14 inch electron tube monitors. We reduced the active part to 10 cm in diameter so that we could play on the first 486. And everything was great. Queues took several hours to be able to play like that. "The good old days when the grass was greener". ;)
My Gigabyte M32U has really bad inverse ghosting when pixel overdrive mode is on. Had to turn that off. It didn't look any worse in terms of motion smoothness with it off so it was really no loss for a major image quality boost. It was expensive, but it's the best monitor I've had so far. It's only 90% DCI-P3, but it's far better than my 7 year old acer IPS screen. I think it's just 100% sRGB. It's not terrible though which is why it's now my secondary monitor. Can't wait for the next wave of tech to upgrade in another few years. Eagerly awaiting inexpensive high color gamut OLED type displays.
But what's the best, cheapest, >144Hz (because 144 really doesn't make alot of difference compared to 75Hz imo), 1440p, 27", optionally curved hdr monitor?
How do you feel about the stand? Is it too big or wide? Or does it all depend on the size of our table? Using the Usb Hub on the screen, how do I connect the cable to use it?

For content watching if your up close it's not crazy good but for gaming it's so good. I get no ghosting and none of the Ips glow that I had before. Plus my Ips panel before I could never get bright enough, with my VA panel that's not the case.. in some cases it's a bit to bright. All I'm really getting at is you don't always need a $600 monitor to have a great experience. Love the videos though!!
I wish they went more in-depth with the BlurBusters test. You can't just tell someone it looks good without showing them exactly what it looks like
Second note, because I can't tell based on the resolution I watch at if you're playing Halo: Infinite but the motion blur you see is called object motion blur and you cant turn it off. There are games where they have this weird basic (admittedly what motion blur SHOULD HAVE BEEN) semi-decent implementation that you can't turn off most of the time even if actual motion blue and post processing is off.

Do monitors
Which monitors ACTUALLY are close to real colours?
What does DCI-P3 and sRGB and Adobe mean? Do indepth videos on that too please and thank you.
THE ONE PIECE....THE ONE PIECE IS REAL!!
Got one of those 2nd hand, mint condition this week for just around 200GBP on local marketplace website. Absolute banger :D
Oh no. Alienware Venereal Disease? A monitor shouldn’t even have the ability to install stuff on your PC.
Insane thumbnail, you out did yourselves!
This was genuinely one of the most generic thumbnails I've ever seen

Thanks to the panning shot I could actually pause the vid and compare the 3 UFOs by myself, props to that!
I'am not going to lie as soon as you go above 800 nits on below 34 inches it no longer becomes about the white point and more so that it's just a sun.
portrait mode for me will be good in the future, lets say, 10 years from now, this could become a second monitor and portrait rules for that
I can understand the lack of DisplayPort 2.0, but no HDMI 2.1? Sure, it’s 1440p. But there are still situations where having full 2.1 would be beneficial at that resolution. But hey, at least the price is somewhat reasonable.
It is a 240hz monitor, no reason to use it with consoles and all pcs have display port.
Also, for 650 dollars I'd like a Thunderbolt 4 port.
@@HuginMunin why, to connect it to what? Zero gpus that can drive games at 1440p240 have tb4 port. You are totally missing the point of this monitor
@@HuginMunin you know that usb-s to dp cables exist right? Dp over usb-c standard and all... So again, not an issue.
Change the gpu to 3080 and I think you might be me.
Portrait is amazing for Schmups and for DS/3DS emulation. You can stack the screens and have a gigantic 3DS in front of you
Say what you will about Alienware, but they make fantastic monitors.
I have the AW2721D (still IPS 1440p 240Hz) and its absolutely amazing. I'm ALWAYS GPU limited in everything but esports titles, even on an RTX 3070.
This one isn’t the same panel tho and many features are shaved off.
240 should be about as perfect as it gets. It's super fast for games and divides perfectly by 24, 30 and 60. So I would absolutely not overclock this display.
guys, please do at least like hand smartphone highfps capture on UFO test or something cause it really tells everything about panels, noone buys 240hz honestly for DCI P3 coverage or HDR, mostly for motion clarity and this is where IPS usually suck
why it doesn't have HDMI 2.1? I want to be able to swtich between a PS5 / XSX and my PC at 120hz. HDMI 2.0 no buy

after using the AW3423DW and the LG C2 42” on a daily basis, I cannot possibly downgrade to anything that isn’t OLED tech….not even the best mini LED in the market
reallly? is it the colors? how does it work for competitive fps games?
Do you have the AW3423DW as your second monitor?
I like Plouffe. He has a very relatable nature. Like he's not some professional actor reading a script but just a regular guy who's knowledgeable about his passions and hobbies. He's very low key and just seems like a good dude. Keep up the good work!
I just want a 24-27 inch oled

12:33 there is a rustling noise, i almost thought there is someone behind me o.O :D nice, good job for scaring tf outa me :D
Honestly crazy to not see hdmi 2.1 on any new monitor. Personally kinda unacceptable at that price point.
this plus only a single display port and two hdmi ports?? what about people who use the same monitor for more than one computer? pc + laptop setups are very common especially since corona hit
I gotta give it to Dell/AW for all the crap they push out, they've been really good on the monitor side of things. Other than a few packaging issues with the AW3423dw, they provide a good range of stuff at really good sale prices.
Would you say this is the best monitor money can buy?
When it comes to non-oled monitors, id say this or the Samsung odyssey g7 are the best 1440p 240hz monitors out rn.
This doesn't have hdmi 2.1
@@kevinportu Because it is 1440p so it does not need the 2.1 bandwidth (like 2160p (4K) would need for 120Hz),, 2.0 is enough.
It needs for a ps5
@@kevinportu Wasn't the problem with PS5 that it does not do 1440p, or 1440p with everything enabled (HDR, 4:4:4, VRR...)?
Dell’s monitor naming is fairly straightforward…
[Series] AW [Size] 27 [Model Year] 23 [Features] DF (D = 1440p / F = FreeSync Support)
I hate the titles of LTT channels. Completely useless clickbait
its amazing how they are advertising 1ms resposne times for 10 years now but its always something different
The back cover incident might be the perfect encapsulation of the difference between PC gamers and Mac users.

Yes current PC monitors are what making life such an interesting time to be alive.
i honestly dont care about HDR unless its on a monitor that has dimming zones on every pixel like OLED and better
0:33... Linus: "You stole that from the office..." 😅
I had 1, sent it back. Had very bad back-light bleed. Bought aw3423dw instead, miles better
I got the aw3423dw and I did not put that cover on. I didn't remember that I didn't until it was mentioned in this video. There is no angle in my room where you could possibly see it
"David and I" ... who edited this video, I love you!!!
Cable Management Jesus is giving plouffe a stern look....
Ring me when QD Oled panels get down to 27". What a glorious day that'll be.

"You are not going to use this in portrait" - Vertical shmups would like a word with you
This monitor is so fucking good! The best for 1440p gaming + 240/280 Hz. It is my favourite by far
Do u use hdr and which hdr do u use if you do.

I know the 40 Series from NVidia is expensive as all hell but the performance is far from disappointing from what I’ve seen.
Why is the older model the 2721D more expensive? For competitive gaming which one would you recommend? Thanks for the video!
i like that some random employee just comes and chips in to the episode
Who wants to tell him that Destiny has motion blur on by default? 😅
Outrageous idea, 3 of them portrait mode for a "different" style of a Curved multi-display.
I just want to say I noticed the wrong availability date that was said 6 October, but it should be November 6 on 13:08.
Pretty sure asus had this 280 panel since 5years now. I have it and its literally exactly the same in the menu expect the fancy rgb and hdr
I'm with you I remember the before dell.. gives me a bit of nostalgia that makes me just like them...
would you recommend this one over the AW2721D?
Is this an updated 2721d? Sweet that they changed the swivel stand. Still running the 2721d and it's just a great display
How is the noise of the built-in fan?
4:50 Temple run 240Hz RTX on that beast
But what's the best, cheapest, >144Hz (because 144 really doesn't make alot of difference compared to 75Hz imo), 1440p, 27", optionally curved hdr monitor?
Because coming from my Samsung Odyssey a 24" 144Hz curved 1080p, non hdr monitor which cost
How do you feel about the stand? Is it too big or wide? Or does it all depend on the size of our table?
Using the Usb Hub on the screen, how do I connect the cable to use it?
@ShortCircuit Did you turn motion blurr off in Destiny 2 before testing? If not, that is the motion blur built-in to D2!
