BMPCC is the clear winner here. You can make a 50 million dollar budget movie with a BMPCC6K and you automatically spend a few million bucks less cause most Red Cameras are being rented at such crazy prizes, when you buy the gear for the BMPCC6K you can spend the rest of the money on more shooting days or as a security cussion for something else. Of course dynamic range does a lot. And there is a huge difference but this is why most high budget production use Arri instead of even the Red cause it s not even on par with the Arri. I do not like the red dragon it is bulky, it is user unfriendly and actually you cannot shoot with it at 50K cause only the body. With BMPCC you spend a max of 4K for the body and a few lenses and you are good to go as a camera operator. for low and even some higher budget productions. Fuck the Red Camera.
4:36 - Technically the BMPCC6K should win on the monitor because the Red doesn't have a built-in LCD, you had to buy it separately. You could also buy a monitor separately for the BMPCC6K that is much better than the Red's.
The new Blackmagic Video Assist is the best monitor. They also forgot the pocket 6k comes with the best video editing software Davinci Resolve Studio FREE.
It's his camera, ain't no WAY he would let the bmpcc win. BMPCC definitely wins. The price, it comes with the editing program when you buy the camera, and it competes with Hollywood cameras. I understand that the RED is your camera but, it lost. People ain't walking around with $80,000. You said $50,000 in video, but I know all the attachments that comes with it and it isn't no $50,000 in total. That is just for the BODY! No screen, no, nothing!
Just a little personal notation (for the record i love watching parker). RED doesnt have a monitor so RED wins the monitor point. BMPCC can survive being dropped but RED cant so RED gets the durability point. BRAW cant be used in premiere out of the box (but it can). Post and Grading were equal but personal habits made RED workflow easier so RED gets a point. BRAW file sizes are smaller but call it a draw. Can buy 20 bpmcc 6ks for the price of 1 red. Gentlemen, based on this video it looks like blackmagic destroys red in value.
Agree. It was stupid how they add score. How this camera can win over all if u have to pay so much money? Are we talking about budget? So person with BMPC6K can buy full set of sound, lights and probably ronin for it. Common ; =)
I see three people deluding themselves here... finding justification for why they spent $47,500 for a negligible image quality increase which is totally lost in RUclips compression. They could've bought a brand new RAM Power Wagon with the difference. But what do I know, I'm just a businessman.
I actually felt confident in buying a bmpcc 6k thanks to this vid. I have a long way to go to get better at using it and color grading (1st time ever using a real camera) but it has been great for my needs.
The fact that the image coming from the BMPCC 6K is so close to the RED that you could barely tell the difference, apart from the dynamic range, is super impressive! It awesome to see how fast technology is progressing and benefiting the consumer
@PRIVATE This is beyond spot on. The review like many is great, but that you can use the BMPCC4K/6K for making movies, corporate videos, weddings, etc.. and many are, is a testament to the way the industry is moving. While it is always awesome seeing Red/Arri/Sony/Canon and so on release their $10K to $100K or more cameras, the fact is, the mass majority of people are able to afford BMPCC cameras and for the vast majority of projects it will be on par with high end cinema cameras for a fraction of the price. Many movies even purchase several BM cameras as B roll for things like mounting to cars, etc now since on large budgets they can be considered disposable. For me, I would shoot on BM all day over paying the ridiculous prices RED and others cost. Like you said, that is the old way of charging 100x more than the camera needs to cost for a few minor advantages that in the end, when viewed by us consumers on youtube or netflix.. is almost no discernible difference. Hell, most people today are watching content on their tiny ass phones.
@@MisterWealth Simple, Who noticed when Captain Marvel switched from their 8k Red's and 6k Alexa's to the footage from the tiny 1080p Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera? Answer: next to nobody. The same was true of Age of Ultron and dozens of other movies that incorporated the original 2k pocket cinema camera. The pocket4k and pocket 6k will be even less noticeable.
Hold up hold up. You compared the black Magic’s built in screen with a screen that you need to purchase separate with the red? The clear winner is the bmpcc in that category. And you do know black magic design have their own external monitors for these cameras?
The same can be said with the Reds battery. That is an addon and correct me if I am wrong but the side control mount for the red has a small battery that only last about 20-30 minutes if that. You most always have to use a v-mount battery (brick) or REd XL
Basil Lewis yeah I didn’t think the red came out of the box with a battery. But you can’t expect too much out of a review that’s done by youtubers, they usually butcher the reviews when they pick up cameras designed for film. And colour grading in premier was cringeworthy They need to stick too mirrorless and DSLR reviews.
Can you swivel the BM screen? If not, that would seem to be a hindrance in certain shots as well as a nightmare with glare in some situations. I'd rather versatile positioning with my monitors. Also, if you add an additional monitor to BM then your battery will last probably 6 minutes.
All I see is bias towards the $50k camera. For its price the BMPCC 6K punches WAY ABOVE ITS WEIGHT. All the BMPCC 6K's 'loses' are easily remedied bar the dynamic range and frame rates. Battery - everyone in their right mind is going to hook it up to a vmount or external source, the LP-E6 is a bonus imo Crop factor - LucAdapter turning it near full frame soon. (optional i know) Post workflow - Davinci resolve is a recognised color grading software used by professionals comes free with Black Magic. BRAW now supported in Adobe Premiere Pro natively, runs smooth af. looks more like a 8-8 draw to me at least. I just think it doesn't sit well with people's egos that a camera so small and affordable is so close to the RED, hence why the unfair bias. Dynamic range and frame rates isn't enough to call it a 'clear winner' or the $47k plus price difference. But hey, maybe i'm wrong, just my two cents
Q For weddings there is a need for a fast and reliable autofocus which blackmagic unfortunately does not have. I was using for the most part Sony a6300 but now it's a bit outdated so you should maybe consider Sony a6400 (or Sony a7iii). It has one of the best autofocus and if you go with a7iii you have also one of the best low light capabilities. I would also say that Canon could be good but in this price point I can't really recommend any of their cameras. But if you were using manual focus for weddings before and it worked blackmagic should be amazing due to image quality but honestly I would go with something with worse IQ but great af cuz IQ and sharpness doesn't matter if the subject is out of focus. Hope it helped a little bit ;) have a nice day
I agree with a lot the points you made! Genuinely super impressed with the BM.. absolutely nothing against it. Just a fun comparison, you can't take it too seriously! Thanks for your input, man!
You guys are pushing it. Blackmagic wins by a mile for the price. Only way people would use the RED is for proper budget film crews where I would personally go with an Alexa instead of the overpriced RED 😁
alexa is more expensive than RED and there isn't a better camera they just have different color science. BMPCC6k def wins for price but do not ignorantly say the red is overpriced and the alexa is more quality because that just isn't true. its all about perspective and what your filming.
I agree completely. Why do you think the best movies of our modern day use Alexa ARRI, like the movie, "1917." Still, the Blackmagic is more within MY price range, lol. I can only dream of the Alexa ARRI, and could only wish I had a RED.
- First drop the red and then we'll talk, that point goes to blackmagic - Monitor comes built-in, another point - Comes with Free DaVinci resolve, +1 Moreover, blackmagic released support for Premiere - Shoots right out of the box, red doesn't, +1 Blackmagic wins, Red is dead.
@@raksh9 I own both a Mini Ursa 4.6 and a Pro and they are amazing. However the design is terrible. Ugly as hell. Amazing but if we could get a camera without looking at the price it wouldn't be the Mini Ursa Pro.
@@mindmeldlearning8497 Red cameras aren't as good as many people believe. The BMPCC6K perform much better, even the depth of field is much nicer than the red one. THe only things that makes Red a better camera for outdoor daylight shoots is due to it's dynamic range and yet the BMPCC is amazing at that too. Now that said I totally knew the B shots were Blackmagic cause I knew was looking at the dynamic range more than the quality of the shots. And it's on the hand of a dynamic range that you can recegnize some cameras and also their color science. But this I have no clue and don't care as we colorgrade anyways.
I don't see why you gave the LCD screen point to the RED. It's an external monitor worth thousands ! You could also plug a similar screen on the BlackMagic for the price. The BlackMagic should have the point for having an included monitor VS no monitor at all. Which brings the final result : RED 8 Vs BlackMagic 7. (Also I would give the image quality to both, so more 8 to 8 xD) Anyway, I don't have the money for the BM so... XD
I think it’s more fair to say “Adobe requires you to buy/download.... in order to edit the the BlackMagic” you could always edit in BlackMagic’s own software Davinci Resolve.
Also, the plug-in is free, and takes a whole 60 seconds to download and install. It's a non-issue. I sold my RED Epic MX for Blackmagic and I would never buy RED again. RED just charges you for their name.
That feeling when you compare a $2.5k 'Pocket' camera to a $50k RED and it holds up just fine. Black Magic is doing amazing things for the videography world.
$50k is what they charge, its not worth $50k. The cost of making the camera are probably significantly lower like $5k and they are making crazy margins just cause they can.
@@sadworldwide yea but manufacturing isn't the only cost. It's a niche product that isn't going to move millions of units but you still have to pay support staff, marketing teams, and R&D teams. Also their quality control is top notch . Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the margins are high but I'm not sure if they are as ludicrous as you'd imagine.
Blackmagic 6k is by far the better camera. Because of the price. The viewer of your content will not notice any difference anyways. When you say, that you need to spend 1-2 thousand dollar for additional equipment, you are showing a CFast card. You could just use an external hard drive for way less money. (The only thing that will not record, is the lowest Blackmagic RAW compression. As far as I know.)
I am making adverts, music videos, wedding films for couple of years and I can clearly say: "you don't need expensive gear to make some good stuff." Even my very first cam EOSM, now giving outstanding image quality on MLRAW. You just need good lighting, good concept, a good eye and vision, knowing filmmaking techniques and... professional editing & color grading. Congrats! you are budget filmmaker.
Blackmagic releases one insanely-spect camera after another. This Image Quality for the price point of 2,5k was just never seen since now. Really love this company! Also thanks for the awesome vid!
That would be a mistake if you are delivering professionally or do real shoots with sync boxes...smart slates... Wireless setups. Etc. Though the Ursa Mini G2 may be okay.
@@mikehoffman1820 The P4k and P6k cameras write file timecode via the minijack input... so sync generators and smart slates work just fine with these devices :-)
@@mikehoffman1820 you can deliver professionally with pretty much any camera.. you don't need a $50,000 to shoot a professional video. On that same point, you can have a $50,000 camera and shoot horrible videos. It's about how you shoot, not what you're using.
On the software issues: my understanding is that the black magic comes with a free license of their own editing software. Shouldn't that be looked at and if good software the point go to Black? And what about all the other softwares?
Fantastic video, thank you!! I have to say, before I knew which was which, I preferred the Pocket 6K footage more often than the RED. Very much appreciated!
Auto focus? That would mean they would need to develop it... which will increase the cost which will mean more development better hardware more software more interface more more more... then after three versions of refining it people will be happy about the auto focus but not the cost of the camera... ha
Guys this was so helpful! My uni have been appalling during lockdown and have given us ZERO lessons or guidance on home revision so content like yours is IDEAL for film students who want to expand their knowledge. Thank you for such insightful, useful content
But why wouldn’t you shoot in B-Raw? I simply do not understand why 1 would not take advantage of the speed and versatility of BRaw. Prores is great, I have used it for years but BRaw smokes it in file size and imagery.
I get that this is supposed to be a fun thing, but I really think you glossed over the ease of use. With the P6K you can double tap to enter 2x zoom, use your finger to move around the frame then pop out all in a matter of seconds. Even with assigning hot keys, doing something like that on a Red is hella clunky, and the delay can be super frustrating. There's tons of little things like that that certainly make it a more enjoyable experience. Also just curious why you choose to use Red Volts? The vast majority of Red owners I know only use em if they plan on hotswapping Vmounts. Just so pricey for the battery life.
Apart from the external screen point, the Blackmagic's carbon-fibre reinforced material is not only strong, it absorbs impact better. So it keeps your internals better protected. The RED transfers those impacts. CF reinforced materials are incredibly strong. I 3D printed some parts and had it tested... it's incredible. BM is the winner for me.
The Black Magic is not - ass it is carbon fibre. I dropped mine off a tripod on the first day I got it and there was not a scratch on it or any damage . Try that with the Red and see how you go.
Thanks for this review! Although, i wouldn’t recommend the Atomos Ninja V as the perfect monitor choice to pair with it. The Atomos Shinobi is way better suited to the Pocket camera since it doesn’t need the recording capability that the Ninja V provides. It is way lighter (with better weight distribution), way cheaper, and very silent (compared to the Ninja V that has noisy fans)
Truly an a great time to be living in! Now truly professional quality filming is the reach of the masses, which mean we'll see the emergence of more interesting Indy filming, and bring in more interesting non mainstream stuff to watch!
PRIVATE i definitely agree with what ure saying, but I guess I am also directing it at those who are talented but somehow can’t afford to buy something better to improve on the final production quality (not tht it is as important as the narative, but it would be nice to see better quality visuals too supported by great story telling) 😊
Shot with a videographer at a music festival this weekend who used the BMPCC4K on a Mova Air 2 gimbal. He wore his backpack when getting sizzle B Roll and mounted a large battery to his backpack strap with bongo ties and used that to power his camera all night with no problem. Mounting it to his body meant no added weight to the gimbal setup. Genius.
Blackmagic provides an update recently that allows you to edit BRAW footage natively in premiere and avid studio with no plugins needed. Specially nothing 3rd party anymore
I know I'm late, but how does Red win in the screen department when it doesn't even have a screen? 🤷🏽♂️ I am confusion. 😅 And like you said the external RED screen cost more than the whole black magic camera. That counts as a win? 🤔
@@whipkeymedia I totally understand that the Red screen is much better than the built in one. I'm asking how that is considered a win when comparing a camera that doesn't have a screen to one that does. I'm not really thinking about affordability, I just believe it would be fair to at least give the point to the camera with the screen but mention that the other one has the option for much better screen from the manufacturer.
I really enjoyed this video and all three of you guys are very good on camera. I appreciate all the hard work you did in shooting, and editing to compare these two amazing cameras. RUclips is nothing without excellent content like this. Please keep up the awesome work. Even if you spend an extra $10k to compensate what the BMPCC6K lacks to the RED, you still save a lot in costs, plus going with Blackmagic gives you the dexterity and flexibility. It sounds like not only does Blackmagic win here, but it's becoming a game changer in the industry. I can't think of any other way yhat RED and ARRI can answer to this, while keeping their current price tags.
What’s so awesome about this video is it was very educational. As someone trying to learn videography this video taught me a lot about terms and what everything means. Great video guys and thank you!
i dont think i ever seen someone match cameras so well. the footage was virtually identical. job well done. ill save my self $15000 an go with the bmpcc6k
Great Review guys but I feel like you kind of robbed the BMPCC6k on the Monitor portion of the comparison. Black magic comes with its monitor built in while the Red is a separate package purchase. The Red brain alone does not come with a monitor so the winner by default should have been the Pocket 6K. 2ndly on the workflow The Pocket comes with its own post production work horse of a now industry standard software Resolve for free. Simply because Premier uses Black Magic’s “FREE” BRAW plug in (Which I love by the way😁) should not be a determining factor especially when you take into account that the Pocket 6k shoots prores. Thanks for posting guys. Great Comparison!
It is great to demonstrate that the Blackmagic camera can compete with the Red camera for a fraction of the price but many people think the Blackmagic is the end and be all camera. I like that you stated why your camera of choice is the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II.
@@jakejames1591 So is this the only feature you need to make quality films? So let me give you the pocket and I take the 1D and that means you will come back the winner? Is that what you are saying? Think you missing a lot about what this thing is about. Dynamic range is just what Bokeh was a few years ago. Something novice talk too damn much about.
AHS Society calm down, bro. I’m just making a statement. He clearly says “it’s the same as 1DX II” in the video and I’m just disagreeing. Geez. Lol. For me, the p4k/p6k is the superior camera for video for tons of reasons.
What was this video? The footage from these cameras was so close to each other that I originally thought B camera was the Red. Your scoring was bogus finding ways to give it to the red that it simply didn't deserve, probably because Parker didn't want to feel like he wasted $50K on a camera that can be beaten by a $2500 one. I mean, why even have a scoring system and try to declare a winner? What's the point to that in a comparison video like this if your aim is genuinely to so what the BBMP6K can do? This was a truly weird video
Wow!!! I truly watched the first minute and 38 enjoying the B footage way more and thinking that's gotta be the Red footage but surprisingly it was the Black Magic! This video definitely reinforces my thoughts on getting one.
@@b3owu1f and will use the pro Hollywood level software that is included for free which can edit, color grade, and handle audio and final rendering production
I ended up buying 2 BMPCC 6K for studio work. If you're debating buying this camera, just go and do it. It's worth the $2500. I've used them so much already and holy cow they are incredible workhorses for the price. The color reproduction is top notch and makes coloring in post easy. Plus it's got 4 flavors of ProRes if BRAW isn't your thing. Like Parker said though, it costed another $1000 for a cage and all the cage riggings for each camera. I end up using AC power or v-mount batteries for power since the LP-E6 are such small batteries.
I want to know if you have the following problems and if you do, how you've fixed them. I am seriously considering getting the BMPCC6k so I downloaded some footage from the BlackMagic site to get a feel.of the workflow on DAVINCI resolve. Each time I tried to render the files after grading (or even Render color cache) Davinci resolve crashes. Always. My laptop is the HP Omen 15, 8GB Ram, 1tb HDD +128gb SSD, 4GB Nvidia 1050ti graphics card, and core i5 8th Gen processor. Note that this laptop handled the BMPCC4K raw files smoothly.
@@SamuelObafemi I can't help you out since I'm a Premiere Pro user :/ sorry man! I have no crashes in Premiere with the 6K footage if that helps at all.
If we set the same price for both, here it is the real winner RED : 9 and for the card, monitor and battery capacity should minus 3, total : 6 BMPC6K : 6, + 20 for the price, + 19 for Crash Cam, + 1 memory type, + 1 for battery/price/capacity, + 20 for 20 Live Multicam Camera ? :) ), + 20 for Matrix Visual Effect, etc...lot of more.... so the total is : 20+19+1+1+20+20 = 81...... the conclusion is BMPC6K got 81....and the RED only 6....
Thanks guys. Quality content, info and production as always! As someone who has allowed themselves to dream and scheme towards feature film making. This camera and what's to come next really excite me! Love your work 😀🕺🏽🎥🏖🇦🇺
The BMPCC is a professional camera and not prosumer, Grant petty said this over and over again. Monitoring, the bmpcc monitor is ver color accurate even better that Small HD and Atomos. Wasn’t a balanced comparison. But nice try.
I was shocked at how similar these two look, if it wasn't for fire shot at 1:24 where you can clearly see the smoother highlight roll off from the RED, I was stumped for the majority of this A & B test. Hats off to Black Magic, I am still grabbing for the RED though 😜
We'll soon have insane cinema cameras for less then 5k, tech is just getting better! What is most important thing is lighting, that's what makes it cinematic!
I have the BMPCC 4k and I love it so much! It’s easy, fun and small. I think it would be really cool if RED came out with a more “budget” type of camera that works out kind of like the BMPCC. One day I hope to own a RED but that’s a ways down the road.
I own a Red Gemini and Blackmagic 6k, I use the Red as gimbal camera nearly every time I shoot. Just need the right gimbal - I use a Ronin MX or a Movi Pro, and it is possible to even get it on the Ronin-S (although I don't know why anyone would want to do that).
I own the BMPCC 6K. Tilta Cage with Power Handle and 2 Terabyte SSD drive. 3 1/2 hours at 5:1 compression. ($290 each) (Sony big batteries, last about 3 hours.) I have dropped camera! Cage took scratches. Works great. I have Canon Pro lenses which makes it easy to swap lens as I carry a Canon 5Dsr at the same time. Shot in Israel, Egypt, walking miles and hours of carrying. Run and Gun filming. BMPCC 6K + BRAW + DaVinci Resolve a perfect storm! (Adobe Premier, really?) Awesome. Autofoucs is slow, but crisp.
lol, i know right? Honestly, if this video was a fully decked out BMPCC 6k vs that decked out RED camera they have... it should have gone a different way. Also the addition of Resolve is a pretty big deal. The camera files haven't been optimized fully yet, I mean, it just came out! So yeah...
@@definitionxmk plus... nobody actually quite realizes that the BMPCC is just a fucking prototype. They are only startign with and seeing what people say about it and can do with it. If they listen to their clients and keep improving things as they usually do, Black Magic might overrun the market very soon. It is actually amazing what they have done. Only thing I am not sure it will perform great and no one is talking about is how well it performs in differetn weather and harsh temperature conditions. I say this cause even the Camcorders aren't really a thing anymore, they are built to last longer on shoots and on high as well as low temperatures which no one talks about. Whereas mirorrless cameras don't perform very well, they overheat fast and stop. and at very low temperatures they stop reacting. Which obviously what high end pro cameras are for in the end. Hence the price and the production. BMPCC and mirrorles and dslrs are more meant for the most normal environments.
By the time the video was at 1:29 I could see there is no justification for the crazy higher price, image quality wise. Good video. Thank for the comparison.

His Red set up is years old at this point and they don't even make a DSMC2 6k Dragon anymore. The equivalent brain (DSMC2 Dragon-X 5k) is $14,500, or you could go with a Helium 8k for $24,500, and there's about $10k of accessories on there if you were to buy today. So your total to buy that Red today is half of what he's claiming. Still not cheap, but nowhere near $50k or $80k
So you gave red a point for battery life when comparing the XL battery?? What about the regular battery? And the XL battery costs $350 but the LP-E6 costs about $60? Hmmm
I like the review, great work! Really handy to see the footage side by side. I own a Gemini and need a B camera for capturing on the gimbal so I think the BMD 6K is what I'll go for after seeing this. However, high end productions will always choose ARRI or RED (or Sony Venice or Panavision) over BMD because that's what they're geared for. PL mounts, industry standard grip etc. The Pocket 4K and 6K are amazing cameras and will absolutely be used as C or D cams or crash cams in high end productions but that's it. So at the lower end, of course the BMD should win on value. You shouldn't even be considering a RED if you're shooting on smaller budgets tbf. Spend the money you save on lenses, grip, lights or whatever. So to compare the two is cool and illustrates the point that you don't need a £30k camera to cap nice footage but in reality they occupy two completely different spaces in the market. I've been a freelance filmmaker for 15+ years and have procrastinated over a RED so many times and always backed off until recently when a production came along that required and paid for it. My go to cameras for years have been Sony FS7 and their mirrorless range. Actually my favourite camera to use is my A6500 with SLR Magic Micro Primes. The image quality from such a tiny rig is insane - I use it for so loads of work. So don't feel bad because you can't afford a RED. If you can't afford one, this review proves you don't need one anyway. Interestingly, due to Coronavirus, loads of people are selling their Geminis because they can't afford the repayments. So be careful when spending so much money. Don't be fooled by the RED hype that is so prevalent among the filmmaking community.
Sweet, been waiting to see one of these comparisons. Looks like Premiere recently became compatible within BRAW based on a free download from Blackmagic’s site. You can manipulate all the parameters for the BRAW right inside Premiere now - which makes things way easier
I feel like giving red the point for being more of a professional camera opposed to the prosumer camera isn't quite fair especially considering that historically reds have been pretty unreliable, at Least up until recently when the standardized the brain and made the sensor the only difference. Just a thought
It took a while for me to discern which was the Red, I ended up guessing correctly.. but that itself shows how good this camera is. BTW I'm a URSA Pro and Pocket4k owner. Totally amazed but not at all shocked!
The Blackmagic being lighter, you can guess which one is which with the camera shakes, but that's really mindblowing how they look the same, just buy the BM you'll have way more bangs for the bucks.
On the machine price and image quality, I personally feel that BMPCC6K is completely successful, even if you buy more accessories to make BMPCC6K further perfect. Late software can't be ignored: Adobe Premiere is very, very difficult to use! BMPCC's DaVinci Resolve software is much faster than PR, and there are fewer bugs, and the editing is really fast. I really admire Parker for using pr. There is no harm without comparison.
Thanks for the video guys! Really wish the footage was graded though. Blackmagic naturally produces a flatter image. They would look even closer if the contrast was pushed just a little.
The fact that both these cameras are being compared head on concidering their price difference is already a very big compliment for Blackmagic!
Yup. The price alone should get blackmagic 5 points.
I was about to write this. The fact that you can get within probably 90% at that price, is ridiculous.
If you are an amatuer or film student then the cheaper Camera would be a great options but for a full scale film production it is a different matter.

GamerPoets yes!
Agree. It was stupid how they add score. How this camera can win over all if u have to pay so much money? Are we talking about budget? So person with BMPC6K can buy full set of sound, lights and probably ronin for it. Common ; =)
These people are not pros; but they'd like to think they are.
@@b3owu1f True, if we no longer notice differences like in a pc, imagine in a cellphone.
How does it look on a Cinema screen in comparison though
Until u rmb the dragon 6k sensor was introduced in 2012 or smtg like that
@@MisterWealth Simple, Who noticed when Captain Marvel switched from their 8k Red's and 6k Alexa's to the footage from the tiny 1080p Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera?
You're so right. That was a stupid comparison, or at least stupid to give the point to the Red in that category.
Basil Lewis yeah I didn’t think the red came out of the box with a battery. But you can’t expect too much out of a review that’s done by youtubers, they usually butcher the reviews when they pick up cameras designed for film.
And colour grading in premier was cringeworthy
They need to stick too mirrorless and DSLR reviews.
@@backlightmedia1628 Truth!
Battery - everyone in their right mind is going to hook it up to a vmount or external source, the LP-E6 is a bonus imo
Crop factor - LucAdapter turning it near full frame soon. (optional i know)
Post workflow - Davinci resolve is a recognised color grading software used by professionals comes free with Black Magic.
Jude Okun Do you think the Blackmagic will be fair for Wedding Videography?
Totally agree, this video is totally bias for the Red camera... I don´t know why....
Jude Okun totally agree!
Conclusion: You don't need a $50k camera to make a good film!
But you also dont need a 2.5k camera to make a great movie :)
Big facts!
All you need is a brain and the tools to make a good film. Cheap or not.
You can do it with any camera!
you can do great videos with your phone ;)
You guys are pushing it. Blackmagic wins by a mile for the price. Only way people would use the RED is for proper budget film crews where I would personally go with an Alexa instead of the overpriced RED 😁
Hollywood would seem to agree with you on that.
alexa is more expensive than RED and there isn't a better camera they just have different color science. BMPCC6k def wins for price but do not ignorantly say the red is overpriced and the alexa is more quality because that just isn't true. its all about perspective and what your filming.
Meh... both paid Netflix enough to be approved??? What a crock...
I agree completely. Why do you think the best movies of our modern day use Alexa ARRI, like the movie, "1917." Still, the Blackmagic is more within MY price range, lol. I can only dream of the Alexa ARRI, and could only wish I had a RED.
Alexa is more costly than red
- First drop the red and then we'll talk, that point goes to blackmagic
- Monitor comes built-in, another point
- Comes with Free DaVinci resolve, +1 Moreover, blackmagic released support for Premiere
- Shoots right out of the box, red doesn't, +1
Blackmagic wins, Red is dead.
I feel a strong bias idea about the red. Technically in multiple categories the black magic wins literally
Yup! :D
my god... imagine if blackmagic put their mind to making a 50k camera... red should be worried
I think they would charge the same camera but... for 10k and making a profit...

Marco Barron me too
I thought the red was B
Black magic for the win

Me Too! I thought for sure B was from the RED
XD
Thirteen minutes and twenty two seconds of trying to feel better about dropping $47.5K unnecessarily.
So truth
Precisely!
Nailed it.
😂😂😂
Hhahaha you nailed it bro
@OLDSKOOL978 thanks for correcting me. I've never personally used one I just know people that gush about them constantly
Better doesnt mean cheaper. Better is how advanced, better sensor, image overall.

you're funny

@@whipkeymedia definitely. But how is it a win for the screen when it doesn't have a screen. The win is for the potential of the screen you can buy?
@@whipkeymedia I totally understand that the Red screen is much better than the built in one.
Not gonna lie, I liked the bottom clip more and therefore thought it was the Red. I was then astonished to find out it was actually the Black Magic.
Every draw should be a point for the bmpcc6k imo, considering the price
It is great to demonstrate that the Blackmagic camera can compete with the Red camera for a fraction of the price but many people think the Blackmagic is the end and be all camera. I like that you stated why your camera of choice is the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II.
You should put the 1dx mark ii up against the Pocket cinema 6k

To be honest when you asked which footage I like best I picked B. The blackmagic camera is awesome.

People never read things properly. They just post to sound important.

Thank you guys so much for all your time and efforts!
So you gave red a point for battery life when comparing the XL battery?? What about the regular battery? And the XL battery costs $350 but the LP-E6 costs about $60? Hmmm
Good bit of information. I really enjoyed your comparison and definitely like the format you all used.
next up: "RED 8K monstrous vs canon rebel sl2"
I dont even know why im watching this with 10$ in my pocket😐
Because you want to make billion dollar grossing film buddy. 😊👍
1:20 in and im calling it for Red (B).
1:47 I was wrong Black Magic was (B)
😭I feel so dirty
The Blackmagic being lighter, you can guess which one is which with the camera shakes, but that's really mindblowing how they look the same, just buy the BM you'll have way more bangs for the bucks.
It is killing me seeing those sensors exposed...
Black magic cinema camera 6k master Prime lens use please video
Thanks for the video guys! Really wish the footage was graded though. Blackmagic naturally produces a flatter image. They would look even closer if the contrast was pushed just a little.
