  • The Porsche 911 Targa was originally introduced for the American market because rumours of safety regulations prohibiting the sale of convertible cars were floating around. These rumours of course never came true. Watch my review to see why I think its the ultimate retro 911!
    I borrowed this car from Club9 in Cape Town. They are a classic and-sports car dealership and stock a wide range of cars. They also offer various car services and have their own in-house restaurant called Dapper. You can find their details below.

    hilarious line at about 4:30. "okay...this seat's forward... umpf...oof..ah...okay, so this space looked a little bit bigger from the outside...". :)

    Nice review. The ignition is on the right hand side because the car is a right hand sided driverscar. So the intention is just the same as it would be in a left hand sided driverscar. Meaning, jump in fire up and shift gear asap.

    I had a 1986 exactly the same White/Burg. I still miss that car to this day.

    Nice job. I watched until the end, thought there might end with a Doug Score.

    What a great car in a most unique scenery - I like South Africa and classic Porsches.

    Original Fuch wheels are high quality aircraft grade aluminum , lessens un-sprung weight.
    The wheels you conveyed are “steel”, are likely aluminum if original factory . I’ve a black/ black 83 911 sc targa turbo tail all original Porsche. Last offer was $350k USD.
    I’d might consider $1.3 M USD. I’m second owner since 1984. 110k miles . Its a Beverly Hills CA Porsche hence no rust.
    Essentially it’s not really for sale. ❤😅

    Great content man. The key is on the door side of the steering column on the Porsche 911 so that you can jump in, crank the engine and put the car in gear as quickly as possible. Since youre driving a rhd example the key is in the usual position.. however for someone driving a lhd 911 for the first time it might cause some confusion because the key would be on the opposite side to a normal car. Looking forward to more videos!

      Sir Alfred Powell Thanks for the feedback! For some reason I thought that Porsche continued to put the key on the left side, even for their RHD models...

    I have a 82 911 sc and the 915 gearbox takes a while to get used to, it needs warming up and you can’t rush it. Great review

    The ignition key slot is on the right because it’s a RHD car. The idea is that the ignition is started with your right hand and your left is on the gear knob. In reverse for LHD cars. Same principle!

    Nice review. Too bad these air-cooled prices have gone absolutely BONKERS. You can buy three decent Porsche 997's for the price of a low mileage air cooled (911, 964 and 993). They are as expensive as old Ferraris now.

      Hey bro is the 1985 targa air cooled , it seems you would know

    MORE RESEARCH needed. Many "features" and "options" of the Targa in the 1980's are unique ... Impact bumpers "mandated" by the U.S. for crash protection, part of the design were the accordion-type trim....

    What a car! What a review! - Really thorough and some beautiful shots. It does help having a Classic 911 Targa in frame! 😍 Man, that car! I LOVE the rear glass - totally unique and distinctive. Great work, sir! Keep 'em coming! 👍
    By the way, can the roof be stored in the 'frunk'? 👍

    • @takeitforadrive
      @takeitforadrive  4 года назад +2

      Mr Jean Deaux Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it! And yes, it can be stored in the “frunk”! Unfortunately it was full of camera gear at the time so did not film it 😂

      @5amH45lam 4 года назад +1

      @@takeitforadrive you're welcome, thanks for the reply! Yep, I'm guessing a roof AND camera gear is a liitle too much on the stowage front for a RWD sports car! Even one as practical as a Porsche!
      I really enjoy your reviews - thanks for taking the time, and for sharing your work, too. I was going to thank you for putting the effort in, also, but it's hardly a chore driving a classic open top sports car around on a hot and sunny day! 😂 I look forward to the next one. All the best! 👍😎☀️
