Hmm, everyone tells me im stupid to crank out of the engine only 350bhp with turbo, exhaustsystem, cooling, mapping, pistons etc..but it survived till now 45k km on the nordschleife. I wonder if this build would run safe 2 hours straight on a track. Does anyone know how much bhp for track use are fine for this engine?

90k for 750 BHP is pretty costly per HP especially consider the weight of the R. If he enjoys the car though then that's up to him -- It wouldn't be my path.

No human born of a woman can rationally justify splurging £90k on mods for a hatch back that is a depreciating liability, however some petrol heads do it. Considering that we are in an era of cheap credit fuelled by years of low interest rates most people can source the funds. People use flashy cars to disguise all sort and create a fake impression of being rich to the gullible. I am making a general point on your comment. £90k for my kitchen extension, that how mare mortals spend.

Think you could probably get 750 bhp out of a 2 litre 4 cylinder turbo for 90k in 2011, but the incremental increases in tuning capability since the early 00's is serious impressive.

Puts it into perspective when a guy turns up to a show with 750hp RS6 5.0lt V10 and everyone is like jesus wtf what a beast.. until another guy turns up with a piddly 2.0lt with the same 750hp! The mind boggles. It's the impossible made possible! Cant believe how much potential these small engines have just incredible.
The v10 should have a humongous torque level compared, otherwise yea, thats odd..

I think you knocked the nail on the head Jamie. I don't doubt it does the numbers. But looking at how it puts the power down its been tuned in such a way that the boost comes in very gradually to save the stock engine.
Seems abit crazy you spend 50k on a build and not forge it and go full ham..
But still credit where its due. Still a fast car.

Its not about saving money, but I would say its rather a challenge to see how much power you can get out of these engines stock while still being reliable

This is an AMAZING car, an absolute dream for me. The way it looks, the yellow accents, the seats, the infotainment upgrades, the rear diffuser, aw man I could go on forever and that's before even talking about that INSANE tune. This is 100% money well spent, if I ever get fortunate enough I would most definitely have a nearly identical setup, with maybe a few color changes. Whoever won this car is beyond lucky. Great video!

This is really interesting. Especially owning a car with this engine (Audi S1). This kind of power is unheard of, my car at 360bhp is incredibly fast, making the likes of standard m140s, s3s etc look slow. I cannot even begin to imagine how fast this thing is.

Remember driving behind this car a few years back and thinking wow one of best golf R's I've seen on person. The number plate is very memorable
thats the same way, the 5,2 with stock internals are mapped. they run up to 1200 hp.
its less stressfull for the engine when the boost rises in balance with the rev.
Coming from sombody whos forged a golf r been through an engine and a gearbox aint no stock engine and gearbox taking 750bhp and with figures given 680ftlb 😅
That was my thought exactly surely 30-50% over stock power and torque would be around the limit of the engine they don’t have forged rods from the factory!
I believe it’s possible with some unconventional tuning , im pretty sure he was managing thermals and ended up there, stock bottom end is pretty strong in the 3rd gen ea888
@@mou1998ssa unfortunately torque wise the bottom end is running very big risks past 450ftlb the gearbox limit is 520ftlb and the stock clutch will cope aswelp as the gearbox on that limit
This guys claiming 680ftlb aint no stock engine or stock gearbox wven with an uprated clutch taking these numbers
@@mou1998ssa with that sort of power I would want to be belt and braces with everything don’t really fancy wondering every time you jump on the loud pedal if it’s going to shit itself!
Any thing is possible when you have that sort of control over heat and fuel with a trick ecu. Like he said it’s the egts that kill these engines. plus shitty hybrid turbos don’t help it’s a gimmick, full frame or stay at stage 2.
