      @@clmfilms8103 great. Started in the morning with fresh snow. Held edge well , carving was smooth and fast . On flats I was much faster and stable compared to my old board. Biggest problem for me is it's my biggest board ( 165w) and I had to get used to the heel toe with it. Also I used factory wax and edge. Next time I go it will be fresh wax and edge. I had a problem in the late afternoon with icy runs and edge hold... also most of the people did 😅.

    Another accurate review. I have the 21 JMT, couldn't agree more on the board being loose on harder carves off the tail. Being accustomed to the carves on my other board - 21 Capita BSOD, when I first rode the JMT I committed the same way, the snow was slushy and when I was exiting the turn I realized I had zero control, this thing just washed out on me. Other than that it’s a great board, you can play with it, you can slash some pow as Angry mentioned. It’s also good for those who want to progress with their switch riding as the 3d shaping makes it more forgiving.

    • @jizzsawpuzzle
      @jizzsawpuzzle 2 года назад +1

      Agreed. I caught my edge twice now exiting from a hard toe side carve into heel due to the tail being loose on the exit. The first time on perfect groomers and second time was on slush.

    I got this board last year as a park/fuck around on board. This is definitely softest board I got, but it’s nice for buttering and messing around on mountain as I go down with the family. I like it in the park, easy to lock in on nibs and I think it’s jumps ok but it’s so flexy if you land tail heavy can be a bit hard to land as it’s can flex like crazy. That said I like messing around in it, plenty of other boards if you want to go nuts carving or hit big jumps. Good for jumping over the skiers falling down in front of you though!

    • @gpaull2
      @gpaull2 9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes I own both. Once I got the optimal stance figured out on the Shadowban it became a much better board for me than it was at first. The Mntn Twin is better at hard charging and laying trenches, but the Shadowban holds its own. Either one is fine in the park but the Mntn Twin wants to hit things bigger and harder. It also allows you to be less precise on the landings. The Shadowban is softer and won’t allow your center of gravity to be off as much on the landing. Shadowban is a nice middle of the road playful board, geared more towards a medium pace and having fun. Mntn Twin is for aggressively attacking the whole mntn, but doesn’t wear you out if you want to relax. I’d take the Twin to keep up with my aggressive skier buddies, and the Shadowban with my fellow snowboarders just hitting every little side hit.

    Man… i love watching your videos. Props man. Your Ducking jokes dude. I just wanted to add something to this. I bought the 17/18 Jones mt. It seems like almost night and day watching the reviews from then to the reviews of it now. They have changed it so much. My older model seems to fit right between the newer mt and ultra mt. Almost like they made the mt directed for more of a playful freestyle board and the ultra mt for more deep pow, cliff dropping all mountain. I love my mt for when I’m out west In the Rocky’s shredding some mountains and pow and still able to goof around a bit. Now, I’m trying to find something for here in Ontarible that’s a little Softer and playful as we don’t exactly have mountains or that much snow :(. Lol. So we hit a lot park. This newer Jones mt almost seems to be what I’m looking for now. Are there any boards that you would recommend for park but also for those days you just hit some rollies or Side hits ? I was looking at the capita doa or the Salomon huck knife. What’s your thoughts? You probably get annoyed being asked this sh*t all the time but I was just wondering cause I’m pretty much the same weight and height as you and ride the same board lengths ? Thanks. Appreciate it . Anything helps.

Keep up the great work! But that is my all mountain hard charger. I want to add one more to the quiver. More of a fun playful twin. But something that isn't a total noodle but noodle-ish and playful. Something I can ride switch, hit some small on mountain features and jumps, side hits and rollers, flatland buttering and just playing around on the mountain. Especially with a friend of mine who is a beginner this year, so I want something to mess around on and play with. Need a new board for all mountain freestyle riding - mainly for smaller resorts so no stiff planks or sidecuts thats only good for long drawn out carves! Prefered riding is exploring the mountain, trees, smallerish amount of pow, messing around on mostly natural stuff - jibbing is not my thing. Park is not a must, but should be capable for a sucky rider (trying to improve a bit). Prefer cam rocker for ease of entry and not catching edges and dying (never tried 3bt but wouldnt say no to it)

In other words I feel very competent, but I'm not a young buck hucking off 30-footers. I'd been looking at the Mercury, but the MT and Ultra MT *seem* to be a bigger hit with riders in my range. Hey Avran, I have a question for you. My lady is learning to snowboard this season, and we are looking at getting her a board of her own (she is currently borrowing/renting). I want to get her on something that she can progress with. I learned a few years ago. I skipped the "beginner" boards, and feel like that was ultimately the right move. Kinda want to do the same for her. She also wants to love her board as a piece of art. She really likes Jones' line, specifically the twin sister and dreamcatcher, in terms of style/graphic. I think it is important to fall in love with your first board, so I am trying to help her pick one that she feels is beautiful, while also getting the right functionality. I highly doubt she will get into freestyle, so after watching this video, I wonder if the twin sister would be the wrong move. However, it also might be a decent board to learn on, given the softer flex?
    TL;DR got any reccomendations on the dreamcatcher, twin sister, or similarly asthetic boards, suitable for a beginner who wants something to progress on, and who is unlikely to get into much freestyle?
    PS we are in Ontario (pray for me), but might spend some time in BC this year, and plan to move there in the next two years.
    PPS maybe you could just yell at her about asthetics not being that important? idk.

    I've been looking at this and the Frontier
    I'm an intermediate rider. I like carving on piste and going fast plus doing skidded turns down steep blacks. I enjoy powder when I can get it. No interest in park but might try buttering.
    Im 6ft 210lbs. Size 12 feet.
    Is frontier or mountain twin better for me? Or maybe a totally different board?

      Did you get the Frontier? I picked one up 3 months and love it. I pretty much fit your riding description except 165 lbs and size 10 boots. This board rips in powder (if you can't have a dedicated pow deck). I've recently learned to butter and it's a hell of a lot of fun. Icy hold is all that lacks, IMHO, but some of that is my technique

    Thank you for the review. I have a question.
    Little bit of backstory. I started snowboarding 4 years ago, but progressed quite fast due to prior skateboarding exprerience. I skipped the "beginner" flat / soft boards and bought a "Jones Aviator 2014/2015" with camber and 7/10 stiffness (oh well... didn't know).
    I actually loved the board feeling, but soon realised it was too aggresive for me. Going really fast was ok, i had good control, and carving was beautiful, but going slower felt like the board was controlling me and i had to push really hard to make turns. It was like the board was trying to fight me and resist.
    Would you say Jones Mountain Twin would give me that more playful feeling the Aviator lacks ? Nowdays I mostly ride piste, hitting some small jumps of kickers etc... i would definitely prefer a more relaxed and forgiving ride.

  • @BlackMarketHoney
    @BlackMarketHoney 2 года назад

    Is it possible for an experienced rider to go from full camber to 3D shaped tips? Do you have to ride them differently, or learn to ride differently? I have riden camber since 1990 and my first 3D shape was the Arbor Iguchi pro camber with the uprise fenders. I really didn't get on with it. I felt like I lost that bite at the end of my turns. I was washing out on carves when I least expected it. Don't get me wrong, I am not hating on the 3D stuff, but am I doing something wrong, or is it just not for me?
    I had the 2015 Mountain Twin LTD 160 and it has been one of my favourites. I really rate the cam rock set up, and their magne traction, but that was before they introduced 3D tips.
    All the best. Rich in Sweden.

      Seriously. All the chatter in the comments about why people would pass on this board because of characteristics Jones intentionally gave it and that are readily available on other boards. Makes me chuckle. Watch the video with Jeremy Jones “the Mountain Twin is best in the casual 10-35 mph range. When I want to ride a twin I ride the mountain twin because when I want to carve or charge I’m on the Flagship or another directional board.”

    • @anah9288
      @anah9288 Год назад

      @@XzoltronX Definitely agree. Although I do wish it went just a *little* faster cause I can tell when I hit 40mph that I'm pushing it. I do love the board though. The playfulness makes it feel like a 5 til I load it up, then I can tell it's stiff in the middle. I actually wanted the Airheart 2.0, but even though they say I'm in the weight range (by 10ish lbs), I don't usually like riding boards that I barely weight into. It's a lot of work to ride a board that large when not charging steeps above tree line. I keep looking at the Flagship, but same problem. I'm on the 140 TW now and typically ride 138-142/3. Maybe I just need to gain 15 lbs.
