    The Jones Mountain Twin is probably the most versatile board in the Jones line, that does everything pretty well. It has the camrock profile, so there is camber between your feet, rocker on the nose and tail and it gets a good mix between stability, float and still having a solid feeling riding it.
    It has traction tech (magne-traction) or whatever you want to call it, a sintered base and is made with a bunch of recycled materials.
    I like it because it is pretty similar to my Capita Mercury, and is just a bit more forgiving.

    I don’t know how to explain it but every time I watch your video I feel that I fall in love with snowboarding a little more! It’s the way you snowboard~ so smooth and calm! You are so good at it! Much to learn for me, I just started three years ago and at my age it’s pretty hard to still be as good as those who started at much younger age, but just watching your video makes me wana go out there, to the mountain and snowboard~ lol 😂 thanks for sharing your videos and comments on the snowboards! @@clmfilms8103 for me personally, the board felt much heavier than I expected so it wasn’t as nimble in the air as I expected it to be. It’s got more swing weight than I expected. The pop also wasn’t as good as I had hoped it to be either, but that honestly could be my technique and not the board itself. The board is still legit, don’t get me wrong. Great for exploring the mountain and really stable in choppy conditions. I was just expecting something different, but I still have it in my quiver.

    I currently have a 2016 NITRO team (Exposure) pos camber 155 with NITRO Zero bindings. It’s the only board I’ve ever owned, but have tested a few others (at the time of purchase) and realised I preferred something more controlled than a board flapping under my feet when picking up a bit of speed. In my research I’ve discovered that my board is a bit aggressive and what I feel is fairly stiff. I literally cannot butter on it. I’m 43, 5’10, UK 9.5 (US10) boot and 85kg (hopefully a downward trend here!) which is too heavy for this board. I do love it though.
    However after watching your video of the Jones MT I am now in love with that. I love your style of riding and I aspire to it. Given the chance I would take exactly the line you did, hitting the sides, looking for kickers, going through some trees, pow etc. I’m not really hitting the park (literally 2% of my time on the smaller jumps and maybe a box. No rails or anything). I’m mainly riding groomed pistes in Austria, trying to butter, 180’s, ollies, bit of switch. Standard basic stuff but also trying to keep up with my 12 year old son who is lighting fast and jumping over everything and buttering like there’s no tomorrow. So I’m looking at either a Jones MT160 or the Salomon Assassin 159. I have both in my possession and need to send one back to the shop. My local store recommended the Assassin as it would suit me best (a little less stiff than the MT), but my understanding is the MT is not as stiff as the official rating suggests? The MT graphic and red base is also amazing (though I’m trying not to let graphics be a factor here!) As somebody who has ridden both boards and also the Nitro Team and my style of riding would be to ride how you did in the MT video (I can only dream), what would you suggest? Would the slightly softer flex in the Assassin be better or is there not really that much between them? Really appreciate any guidance here. Thanks

    • @SnowboardRobot
      @SnowboardRobot  3 года назад +1

      That's a tough choice, I found that both the Assassin and the Mountain Twin felt softer to me than they describe, but overall they share so many of the same features, that you could almost pick by looks/price.
      There is nothing that stands out to me about either board that would make it an easy choice to choose one or the other, the only difference would be if you are looking at the 2021 Mountain Twin with spoon in the nose and tail, you might find that one a bit easier or smoother to learn butters on - but it would only be a small change. It does sounds like you want the Mountain Twin though!

      @@dz4sp3r No I haven't at all (and I used to work in a snowboard shop and it wasn't a problem there at all). Maybe I've just been lucky, but I've owned a Horrorscope, Slush Slasher, Mercury and Outsiders, and have ridden all of them for well over 50 days each (except for the Outsiders) without anything happening to any of them. The Kazu I rode definitely had a broken in feel, but the camber profile was still there. It seems that the quality of all boards made at the mothership seem quite high, but I am also mainly riding the nicer stuff, not much of the budget/entry level models.

    Hi. Thanks for the review. I’m advanced rider, have been shredding with a quite stiff full camber for the last then years. Now its the time for a new board with a little more “playfulness”. I’m undecided between the mercury and the MT. In the review of angysnowboarder he sais that they made the MT in the 2020 Version softer than the 2019. Is that right? Is it still a board that’s good for an pretty aggressive, advanced riding style? And if i decide to get it... I’m 184cm, 78kg, what would you recommend? Thought about the 160... Thanks!

    • @SnowboardRobot
      @SnowboardRobot  4 года назад

      I found the Mountain Twin to be a bit more playful and flexible than my Mercury, though it still had a good flex that I never found too soft or stiff. I am not sure about the difference in flex between the 2020 and 2019 versions, but I do remember the 2020 feeling softer to me than the 2018 model. The 2021 model has quite a few changes, so that might feel different again. It's an easy board to recommend, it sounds like it would be a good fit for your riding style. Either the 160 or 157 would work, I'd go for the 160 if you want to ride fast more often or have a bit more float in powder, or the 157 if you want it to be a bit easier to move around.

    • @maxschmid3712
      @maxschmid3712 4 года назад

      @@SnowboardRobot Thank you! Think i will go for the 160 as i really like to ride at higher speeds. Just one more question about the mercury: On thegoodride.com they say they didn’t like it weaving in and out of larger bumps. Can you follow this? So, do you think there are some disadvantages when riding uneven terrain or do you consider it still a flexible, playful board? It’s hard to get a feeling about how agressive it is when its described as pretty agressive... Thanks so much for your reviews And quick answers, these are helping very much!!! Will recommend you!

    • @SnowboardRobot
      @SnowboardRobot  4 года назад

      I haven't ridden the 2021 version, so it would all be a guess. Although it has the same look and name, it has a new shape, cores, spoon, a slightly better base and maybe a small change to the traction tech. It has the middle level of spoon (4mm) so it should have a smooth and easy entry to turns, and maybe the tiniest bit more of a surfy feel in deep snow. The spoon raising the contact points might make it a little slower to start a turn, but also give it a more forgiving and less catchy feel. I would guess that it wouldn't feel too crazy, because I didn't really notice it riding on groomers on the Hovercraft, which has even more spoon.
      The 2020 version will be a whole lot cheaper, especially at this time of the year, and there isn't anything wrong with it. If you don't care about having the newest stuff, the 2020 is pretty cheap now snowboardrobot.com/snowboards/jones-mountain-twin/#buy
      Though if you get a chance to demo the new one next season that would be good, but I think you'd be happy with the current model.

      I would get the 154cm, it will be the best size for riding a bit of everything.

    Hi
    When you say 9.5 boots is that US or UK 9.5s?

  • @Chaugar

    I'm 5'4" 170lbs, 9-9.5 US boot. 151 or 154 in the MT? Would I notice any big differences between the 2 sizes? I also ride the 156 Stratos and love that size. Never got to try the smaller sizes bc I bought it as an early release.

      It depends what you want to ride on the MT. If you have the Stratos for powder/highspeed riding, then it could be better to go for the smaller MT to have something different.

    I tested the Mountain Twin 3 years ago and did not like it that much - the biggest issue was that - for me and my riding - it felt a little "dead" and a little sluggish... However, it is still a good Allround Board but there are many other boards out there that are, in my opinion, better =)

      Agreed. Trying to learn carving. Second year owning this board and it was not a good purchase for me. Does not want to hold edge on carving, it is hard to feel/understand if it is side slipping or going into carve. Tried my friends Burton Process Camber and that is so much better for me. Wants to catch edge if I'm not careful but otherwise really rails into the snow and is more lively.
      However learing to ride when just starting out Mountain Twin is probably much more forgiving than on full on camber.

    Did You have an opportunity to test Yes Standard? If yes, how it compares to JMT and Mercury?

    • @bbolanda18
      @bbolanda18 4 года назад

      I would like it compared to the Yes Typo since the profiles are more alike. I think the Typo might have better grip as well.

      I've only ridden the Yes Greats recently, but the Standard looks to be a bit different with the wide nose and tail - the Typo does look to be super similar to the Mountain Twin/Mercury.

      @@SnowboardRobot and how did You enjoy The Greats?

    • @SnowboardRobot

      @@dz4sp3r It was pretty nice, it held a very good edge on icy snow, felt very smooth to turn but it felt just a bit too soft for what I prefer to ride.

    • @dz4sp3r

      It's a little bit weird as all of those boards are made in SWS Dubai. Yes Typo has only poplar wood core (and looking at GoodRide review the flex looks mediumish). Yes Standard and JMT poplar wood with bamboo and paulownia stringers added so I would expect from the Standard to behave more similar to JMT, which in my opinion is a mid-stiff board. Yes Greats on the other hand has similar core to the Yes Standard and from Your experience its softer than JMT what in my case would be a better pick. I think I'll go with the Yes Standard instead of Yes Typo or JMT.

    Hey I found a good deal for this board and I really want it, and they have only the 158w.
    I am 5.10 185lbs and size 10 do you think the size will be good for me?

    • @SnowboardRobot
      @SnowboardRobot  3 года назад +1

      You will be able to ride that size no problem, the little bit of extra width won't be a big deal with the boots you have. If anything it will help give it a little bit more float in powder.

    Sorry for this, but your body is not strong to ride faster smoozher with some confidence. This is all about slow speed ant. Stopoing ny uneven terrain. You could not even tiuch the spirit of the board by this kind of riding. So take care and practice on groomed tarain fisrs...👍
