I snowboarded for years and not going to lie.. i recently bought this board as my first ever board. Was a bit worried about people saying how stiff it was and it not being easy to make short turns or quick turns, but i didnt have a problem with it at all. I made quick turns and short turns with ease on this thing. Not to mention, it was my first time on a stiffer board and im in love. The stiffness adds so much more stability in high speeds and much more responsive. I love this board. But the top sheet does seem to be a scratch magnet..
I picked this up earlier this year and was blown away by the stability at speed. This thing is great! I have had a little bit of hookiness in the nose when turning, I'm setting it back quite a bit for a big powder day tomorrow in Utah!
Love the first turns on the new board and it looks like great conditions for it!! Just a month left and I can get my first turns on my new ultra flagship!

Have you ridden 2024 Kazu Pro? I'd like to get a CAPiTA freeride board and I looking at 23/24 Kazu Pro, BSOD and Mega Death. Could you please tell me which one would be most approachable and least workout? Thank you.
I haven't ridden the 24 Kazu, sounds like they upgraded it this year though. The Kazu and BSOD are pretty aggressive. The Mega Death will be the easiest ride out of the three, most approachable and not work you too hard

Was really debating on grabbing the BSOD but ended up copping the "Kevin Backstrom" setup. 2023 CAPiTA Mercury with Atlas Pro bindings. Just set it up yesterday and can't wait to hit Powder Mountain tomorrow😎
Love the video! I have ridden the 2024 Mega Death. Surprisingly approachable & versatile board. My only negative is that while it cuts through the crud, you feel all of it. I wish it was a bit damper. It looks like the BSOD is more damp & may be more solid under foot. Do you think there is enough difference between the two models to have both in your quiver?
@ I’m going to Hokkaido in early Jan, so expecting that conditions might be a bit mixed. I was planning on taking my Gentem Mantaray, the Mega Death & one other board - I have a Kazu Pro & a HTH. Locked in board but had some real issues outside of blower or packed powder. Edge was tough on hard packed to the point heel or toe sliding out of control. Wasn't for me.
The BSOD is one of the few boards I have EVER bought multiple times, 3 times to be exact. Super GREAT board! I know you LOVE the Storm Wolf too, which is now my favorite and go to. How does the BSOD compare, other than the obvious?

It really depends on the ride you're looking for, I've been loving riding both depending on how I want to ride. If I want to be bombing, riding faster, and have my board boat through choppier snow I'm grabbing the BSOD. If I want to be carving harder and have a more maneuverable ride

Would this be a good complimentary board to my 158 custom camber? Really enjoy the custom but am looking for something just a tiny bit stiffer and floats better for pow. I was thinking of getting a 161? I’m light for my height at 6ft 155lbs and wear size 11 Burton Photons that make it tricky finding boards that are wide enough without being to much for my weight. I don’t live anywhere I can test out boards so I’m pretty much going off reviews and videos. Would this board be too similar to my custom or a nice choice/upgrade for the deeper days
Cool, this would be a great board to have too. Definitely different enough from the Custom to warrant having both. You might want to look at the 159 though, the 161 could be on the bigger side for your weight. I'm the same size as you and have been riding the 159

How do you compare this to the Mercury? Just spent 4 days on a 22/23 Merc and found it to be really twitchy at times, especially in variable snow conditions.
Love the review! I recently ordered a 162 BSOD, but I'm not sure if I should exchange it for a 159. I am 6 feet tall, weigh 186 pounds, and wear a size 10 boot. I mostly ride in Aspen, CO, and currently own a 156 Burton HTH and a 158 Jones Storm Wolf. Can you suggest which size of BSOD would be best for me? Do you think this board will complement my current snowboards? I was also considering the Capita Aeronaut, but was worried it might be too similar to my HTH. Both the 162 or the 159 would work for you, I weigh 150 and ride the 159. The 162 will be a little more stout. I may have suggested the 159 because it will be more similar to what you're used to riding. Regardless it will go great with your other boards and riding on Ajax. The Aeronaut is different from all these boards because it is softer and much narrower

Both are very similar and meant for the same type of riding. I'd say the BSOD is stiffer and the the HTH is turnier with more taper and a deeper sidecut. Can't go wrong with either

I switched to BSOD from 15 yrs old Burton. It's like riding a friggin Ferrari ;)

Awesome! De-tuning the contact points on the nose a little bit may help with the hooky feeling.

Love my 2023 bsod. But that top sheet is FRAGILE! Watch out in that lift line. So many chips already

Won't have access to a Kazu this year, but the biggest difference is the Kazu has a much larger sidecut so it wants to go straighter more often

Yeah for sure, I've got both and I ride each almost the same amount. They ride much different than you would think sharing the same specs

No it's actually 1.1 cm which I think is the perfect amount. I had it set centered

Very different from both. More directional than the Mega Merc and different flex pattern, and more of a stiffer charger than the Orca

It rips hardpack, the BSOD will probably be faster and have more elongated carves than the Aviator

This board is different because of it's directionality, so not as easy to trick on. It's similar in how aggressive of a ride it is

15, -15 22in. It's what my body is used to and comfortable with. I recently tested out more directional angles and it did not feel good for my body
