    I am 180cm tall, around 70 kilos and have size 10.5 boots. My rieing style is sidehits and freestyle in general. I will get the 153 wide. Is that okay or do i get the 156 wide?

    Hey guys I’m currently looking for an upgrade to my Capita Outer Space Living 161w. I’m 5-8, 215lb boot size 10.5. I learned to ride on the OSL and and a pretty true all mtn rider. Groomed blue and black not bombing but do open it up occasionally, small -med jumps and side hits. not a ton of powder where I ride. I’m looking for suggestions on an upgrade to OSL (sintered base, better edge hold on hard snow, maybe a touch stiffer flex) leaning towards jones mtn twin as it seems to fit the bill for those things without being to aggressive and losing to much maneuverability at slower speeds. If you think mtn twin is a good fit where do you suggest I land in size? I was thinking 160. If you don’t think mtn twin is a good fit any other suggestions are appreciated! Thanks

      Mtn Twin is a good fit and a nice upgrade from the OSL. It has a faster base, more grip and a little more directional float in pow. So if it calls to you go for it. If the 161w OSL felt easy for you to turn and didn't feel too wide I would probably go with the 159w JMT. If I didn't know you were riding a 161w OSL I would have recommended the 156w. Not ideal for your weight but boot size is most important. It's better for your height too and will be easier to turn, spin etc. 160 is pretty long for 5'8" and so is 159w but if you like a longer directional twin then go for it as it's all about what works best for you. @@thegoodridesnow thank you so much for the reply. I do believe the OSL 161w is probably to wide for me! It’s the board I learned on and purchased strictly by my weight- as a shorter bigger dude I heard weight was the more important factor but appreciate the advice I’ll size down on the mtn twin! I’m excited to see how much more maneuverable I’ll be on an appropriate waist width!!!

      Right on! Yeah it's boot size first, weight second and height 3rd when sizing a board. If it comes down to a board that fits my boots vs. my weight I generally choose boot size. With traditional width boards like the Jones Mtn Twin its best to have your toes/heels near the edges to it turns properly.

    Hello,
    for mountain twin is it better to have centered or little bit setback position for carving?
    regards

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  8 месяцев назад

      It's really all personal preference. If you are trying to switch carve too its best to be centered on sidecut but still fun to directional carve centered just as much as set back. Its best to experiment to find out what you like and then go with that.

    Hey guys, I have a boot size 14… I’m 6”3 and about 190lbs… what do you recommend for the sizing? I’m currently riding a burton custom 158W and I still got quite a lot of heel drag as my heels stick out… I was thinking about going with the 159W or the 162W… currently right now I’m super super agile on my board and I want to keep that as I am much more of a tree skier than groomers haha
    Let me know what you guys would go with

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  11 месяцев назад

      Yeah that 158w is super small for you. No the Jones Mtn Twin in a 162w is too small and so is the 159w. 14's are really big boots and even the 168w would barely fit. Your choices are limited but I'm not sure if the Jones Mountain Twin is the right call for you. Hit me up here because I need to know a lot more about you to help properly shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/.

      If you're willing to go with a more rocker dominant profile, you should look at the Lib Tech skunk ape. I believe that even the 157w has a ww of 26.8 cm. The C2x profile will make it super nimble in trees and bumps as well, even in the longer lengths.

      Good call. The Skunk Apes does well with bigger boots. You might even like the next size up.

    Hi, nice review, one more time. :)
    You said about the Aviator "it's a Mountain Twin on steroids" and I'm wondering if a Mountain Twin shouldn't be on steroids to react to my weight like it reacts to a lighter rider it has been designed for... ^^'
    I'm looking at many references and it appears that being 5'10, shoe sizing 9 "large", so your comments are pretty adapted as we got same sizes. But I'm weighting 215 lbs, and I will never lose 55 lbs to have the optimal weight designers aimed. I got some belly, yes, but large and dense bones... I weighted 190 lbs in my 20's when I was very fit, and getting in my 50's that wont happen again. ^^'
    157 would be perfect size, 163 is what Jones say I should get despite my boot size being a bit too short, and only referring to my weight I should get a 165W (and have 11 boots XD)... So I wonder if wanting to have most of the benefits of a Mountain Twin as reviews describe, I shouldn't get an Ultra Mountain Twin...
    What is your opinion about influences heavy weights have on boards reactions ?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  Год назад +5

      So yeah being 215 with size 9 boots makes it really tough to size your board. For a while I got up to 210-215. At the time I rode a 160 Jones Mountain Twin. The 160 felt slow edge to edge. Even with more responsive bindings. When I sized down to the 157 it felt much better. When I changed my diet and got back to my normal weight I'm at now (180-190) I felt even better on the 157. The way I see it is to always size your boot first, weight second and height a distant third. You get the most leverage/turning power if your boots are close to where they should be on the edges. Weight helps too but I found I still can't turn a wider board for my boots super easy just because I'm heavier. So if you want to control the board I would choose between the 157 and 160. The board won't last as long at 215 but you will have more fun while you have it.

      @@thegoodridesnow Thanks a lot for your comprehensive answer !
      So I guess I also should take more in consideration board's esthetic to enjoy it when it ends up on the wall after having been pressed flat. XD
      I'll start a diet too, I surely can find 10 pounds to lose, likely 15, but above 20 would be a miracle... anyway that would be better for the ride and for me.
      Thanks again. Cheers !

      Great review, I’ve been all about Bataleon in the past, just love the forgiveness when flat basing on faster cat tracks of the 3bt. Having watched your review I’m really drawn to the mt, it sounds ace, does the slight spoon shape offer any help when flat basing cat tracks or are you still wanting to be on an edge cos it’ll catch if you’re not careful ?
      Thanks
