    Brilliant explanation of all the board types and what it’s good/not so good for, I started snowboarding around 2 years ago and my board is a rocker board and I always wondered why I couldn’t pop up the same as some of my friends with a normal camber board but now it totally explains all things I’ve thought but not know was happening while on the board 👍🏻 but also kinda cool to know my board is good for nose/tail presses/butters and rails cause that’s my next step on getting better at riding.

    You’re also forgetting triple camber, directional camber and rocker.
    Libtech C2 should make it easier for you to rudder-steer tight corners with the back foot. Your weight is basically on the small real estate of rocker in the center because it acts as a pivot point. The board won’t dig into the ground because of the camber pocket when you twist your board. The camber pockets aren’t completely compressed like a single camber board.

The proteus board is great. I wish it could do hybrid but all the other stuff it can do is great. S profile and flat especially.

    Even if you don't do any freestyle or carving (wait, what DO you do?) I don't like reverse camber aka full rocker boards for beginners or anyone who wants to traverse. On hardpack, a rocker board will slide sideways downhill almost as much as it goes forward.
    Beginners like rocker when learning their first turns, since rocker isn't catchy and just wants to turn. But when they want to leave the bunny hill, rocker only can be a real handicap.
    Obviously, for flat ground tricks, it's a cool toy. But I'd call that a specialized board, much more than beginners seem to recognize.
    Just my 2 cents as an ex instructor who often got the "what should i buy?" question.😂
    My teaching board was flat. Still have it to play on. Very forgiving on landings, doesn't wash out badly if you know how to engage your edges actively.
    Great video! Thanks for laying it out and demonstrating it all in detail!

    Just was snowboarding in the swiss alps for a day and grapped my board, realizing itˋs a 24 year old burton seven raven with burton custom straps. Board is pretty banged up from freeriding 20 years ago and hitting some rocks. My spy googles frame just crumpled and left me with the lens. The board held up very nice, hit 80km/h easy with full control. Nothing broke, me neither. Rails were rusty and not really sharp so icy black slopes were not fun. But to be honest, not having ridden for 8 years, itˋs better to go full on carving down that stuff and just slide it, even if it hurts my pride.

    I feel like you kinda left a lot to be said for rocker boards. They are a lot of fun if you like to feel kinda "surfy" and "floaty." Yeah if you're gonna be carving on icy runs out east then a camber board is probably best but you can absolutely have a fun time with a rocker style board just gliding around and doing spins on a twin rocker board. That's a blast. I get it tho if you wanna carve on packed snow you'll have to dig in a lot more. Also they're great for helping beginners gain some speed and confidence because you're less likely to catch an edge on them since you don't have as much "bite" as a camber board. Put a beginner on a rocker board for a season and they'll fall in love with snowboarding, next season sell the deck and keep the bindings and buy a camber board!

    • @proteussnowboards
      @proteussnowboards 5 месяцев назад +4

      The whole adjustment system adds 6 ounces to the center of the board. We are able to make up this added weight by using ultralight Paulownia wood throughout low stress areas of our core to save an additional 8 ounces in the overall build.

    • @Johnny-Utah-91
      @Johnny-Utah-91 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@proteussnowboards thanks for the explanation. Love the concept but what if the whole adjustment mechanism stopped working?

    • @proteussnowboards
      @proteussnowboards 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@Johnny-Utah-91 Our design allows for any flex in the board to relieve tension in the mechanism. We've found that the board will snap in half before the mechanism fails, so you've usually got bigger problems. That being said, if one side of mechanism fails you are stuck with that side of the board in camber. The boards are by default an aggressive camber shape which gives you the best natural response and pop. The mechanism just allows you unlock all of the other shape possibilities.

    Not strictly accurate as you can have stiff as well as flexie reverse camber boards, and stiff or flexie full camber boards - each would suit a different rider as it's all down to personal preference, so just go demo some before buying one. The best thing a beginner can get is a soft, flexie board in either reverse or normal camber, as they'll need to learn now to flex it to turn which is easier on a soft board. Then, once muscle memory has it down, buy a more intermediate board. Basically go to a shop, be honest about your ability level and what you want to do, and they'll recommend the best board for you.

    I been on shitier boards whit camber thats carve worse then the rocker ones i owned. A nuddle camber bends more then a stiff rocker.and wheres the talking of the benefits whit it, eas, faster edge to edge and they ripp in pow.

    Just get camber, no need for anything else

    Dude, u keep commenting on qualities of rocker in powder and yet you are not in powder for a second in this video. The truth is there's no better shape for powder than full rocker, period. S camber is a compromise.

    Traditional camber is the only way to go. All the rest of that crap is a gimmick

    This is all BS. Go back and watch snowboard films like Snowboarders in Critical Condition or Creatures of Habit Part 2 (and a dozens more from around 1990+) and all there were was cambered boards. It wasn't even spoken about. Watch that wave of riders like Shawn Farmer, Shaun Palmer, Chris Roach, Mike Ranquet, Noah Salasnek, Nick Perata, John Cardiel, Dave Seoane etc. etc. They could ride & rip everything & anything with just cambered boards. These days people make it sound like if you want to ride a certain style then you have to get this specific profile. And back then us non pros mostly had one board for everything; powder, ice, slush, crust, groomers etc. It was unheard of to have multiple boards for different purposes.
    People waste too much time & energy in overthinking & over analyzing camber profiles. See if someone can do a blind test where they have different brands & models of different profiles then see, since they are experts, if they can pick out what profile it is just by riding.
    Just find an appropriate length/width board, check the flex & if the graphics pass muster - just buy it. Nobody's ever going to say (after their first day on their new board); "Dammit, I screwed up. This cambered board sucks, I knew I should have gotten a reverse cambered board - I can't turn, stop, do 180's, 360's, 540's, slides, rails etc. now."
    It's like basketball shoes; if you have the skill you can play ball & slam dunk - whether you have on $20 WalMart shoes or $300 Nike's. The shoe isn't going to determine how you play. Same with snowboarding; either you can do it or you can't - the camber profile doesn't mean anything.

    Man you scared me talking about the rocker earlier on, but then mentioned the hybrid profile being really good. Just bought a Riders Choice with the C2X, havent ridden for a few years, cant wait to rip it
