    I recently got a Mind Expander Twin and rode it a few times. Coming from Customs and a Flagship, I knew little about the board and was surprised how easy it is to ride in general, even on steeps and groomers. It's a fun board. Great review; thanks for sharing!

    If Jones could add better edge disruption on the Mind Expander twin for carving or least competent edge hold it would be perfect.

    Great review and content, Advice on sizing for the mind expanded twin. 158 or 162? Says to size down on jones website but unsure.
I’m 6’3 98kg size 13 boot.

      Thanks! So they dont make a size for your specs. You need something much wider. Hit me here if you want to get into it more and give me the info i need to fund you the right board. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

    Sweet review. I already have a Hovercraft (160) as a powder/carving machine, and I'm looking for something to ride slush/park/side hits/cruise. I will pair it with Orion Bindingds and 32s Bandito boots. 175lbs, 6ft, 11US boots. Which board and what size should I go for? Mind Exp. Twin, Mountain Twin, or Tweaker? Thanks a lot.

      Thanks! I think it depends on what you want out of this next board.
      Mind Exp Twin 162- Stiff but forgiving. Fun in Pow for a change up in shallow pow vs. the Hovy.
      Mountain Twin 159w or 162w- Better groomer board than the ME Twin. More camber. more pop. Probably the better call.
      Tweaker 157w- Pretty soft/playful. Not an ideal fit for your specs.

    Freeride/freestyle pack question . Freestyle is centered on side cut, would freeride be 4cm back on side cut, reference if you split the difference be 2cm?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  7 месяцев назад

      On sidecut? not sure. Don't have a board with me to check. I think it's only 2cm back from freestyle. Basically the furthest you can set it back with a full size disc is 4.445cm if you go as far back as you can.

    Hey man! I have a question if you don’t mind? And hopefully you see this!
    I currently have a Capita Super DOA. I find it to be a very hard charging aggressive board. I’ve been heavily considering getting the Jones Mind Expander Twin. I feel like it’s a good board to pair with my Capita because it’ll be better in powder it’ll have easier turn initiation and be less catchy because of the rocker and spoon. Overall I think it will be a bit more playful for those days where I’m not looking to be constantly riding super hard, which is what I find the Capita almost forced me to do. Does that make sense? Or do you feel like I’be made a bad assessment. Thanks in advance! Much appreciated!

      Sure happy to help. It really depends on what kind of rider you are and how you like to ride powder. If you want to know for sure hit me up here so I can learn more about you. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/. If not this is definitely more forgiving and floay than the Super DOA. Especially if you want to ride more centered or switch in pow. It will have better grip but you will miss the pop of the SDOA on an ollie.

    I am 5 ft 6in, 180lbs, us8.5 boots. I am intermediate advance and have been going to japan regularly for a number of years. I am considering riding this in niseko japan. I am looking at the 158. What do you think?

      Man. You are in between sizes. The 154 might be a little better for you but tell me what make, model and size do you ride now?

    Hello, I am curious to your thoughts on the mind expander twin vs the sb powder twin. I am looking for a board for powder days and backcountry riding that I can also throw some jumps and powder butter and ride switch into the mix. Basically I want to do freestyle type riding on powder days and be able to hit backcountry runs and I wonder which one would work best.

      I like the Pow Twin better for mostly pow riding and the Mind Expander Twin if you want to ride groomers but still have a competent pow board. Hit me here if you want to get into it deeper shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

    I tried this one and I found it disappointing. Although I think it was my fault, because they only had a 154 for test, and I am pretty sure that this is one of those boards that are not very "size forgiving", if you know what I mean. Giving the fact that my all mountain optimum size is 156/157, I guess I should try it again in 158 if they had one this next season. Especially because of the early rise, which is something we talked about when I asked you about the Santoku and the Double Dip, so maybe 154 was too short. I don't know, I tried a K2 Bottle Rocket in 156 and it felt like the fkg Titanic under my feet lol, but again it was my fault because that board has no early rise, it's flat, and they recommend shorter sizes than normal (being mine a 152 for that board). So I thought that 154 for the Mind Expander twin would be nice, but nope. Proof that volume shifted boards can be completely different from each other too. But, overall, I found it not playful at all, at least in groomers, and that was a big no from me. The same at carving, I couldn't go for short aggressive radius, but the turns were long and washy. But again, it could be the size, I don't know... I hadn't the chance to test it on pow.
    I guess that this board is in the same category as the Amplid Dada?... Another board that I've been always very curious about.

      @thegoodridesnow  11 месяцев назад

      Yeah it's not really your type of ride and I don't think it's the right size. I think you put up your specs in another post and I think you are more my size but with bigger boots. If so the 158 is the call but it's not the style of the Pin Tail rides you mentioned in other posts. Not sure on the Dada because I haven't ridden it.

      @@thegoodridesnow 176 cm (5'7 I think), 74 Kg (163 punds), and size 9 foot. Yeah it was too small. Not for my feet but yeah, I'll try to test it in 158.

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  11 месяцев назад

      I'm 178cm, 42EU/9US and 84-85kg so we are pretty close in size. I'm not sure if either will work for you. You might like the 158 in powder but if you liked the Santoku 156 then you might not like the 158 MET.
