    I fat fingered the width of the reference stance in sizing. Sorry! Here are the correct specs.
    Front Insert: Freestyle 26.8 cm. Freeride 26.6 cm
    Back Insert: Freestyle 26.6 cm. Freeride 26.8 cm

    Thank you for the review and the content! I’m currently looking at the Jones MT and the UMT but can’t decide on which board to get. I’m an intermediate rider that’s looking for an all mountain board that wants the option to carve. Is it worth getting the UMT or should I pick the more playful board and get a directional carving board down the road?

    • @ironclad5181
      @ironclad5181 6 месяцев назад

      Is the UMT that much more difficult to ride?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  6 месяцев назад +1

      No problem. No it's not. We say it in the review. It just takes more work to get it to pop on an ollie or spring out of a turn. If you don't plan on riding switch much you will be much happier carving on the Frontier vs. either Mtn Twin. Hit me up here if you want to get into this in more detail and get proper advice. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

    Loved the review, exactly what i needed. Just getting mountain twin but now sure what size, I am doubting between 157 and 160

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks! I would strongly suggest getting the 162w or 165w for your specs. Do not get the 157 or 160. Those are too narrow for 11's and you will get toe/heel drag.

      @@thegoodridesnow ok wow thanks, i wasn't thinking going beyond 160 at all. is the 162w and 165w mainly for boot size or it's because my height/weight too?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yes it's for all your specs but especially your boot size. Toe and heel drag absolutely sucks and can get you hurt so you need to always size a board by your boot size firs, weight second and height 3rd but all are important. Go 162w if you want more control, see a lot of uneven snow and want to turn easy in it. Go 165w if you want more speed/float and you generally like a lot of board for good conditions.

    • @NilsenMouind
      @NilsenMouind 5 месяцев назад

      Maybe a 159W at 26.1waist width... Os ir it too narrow for US11?@@thegoodridesnow

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  5 месяцев назад

      162w would be better if you want no boot drag but still an easy board to turn/control for your specs. I would only go 159w if you don't carve hard and like smaller/easy boards control for your specs.

    Just ordered a Frontier. Retiring my 2008 burton custom which I bought second hand in 2011 - it’s pretty beat up. Hoping this will be a worthy replacement.

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hard to say coming from the Custom. You won't have the pop/camber but you will get a much better board in pow with a lot better grip. Base will be a little faster too.

    Ive got an older mountain twin (2016 i think) and i'm 6'1"and 220lb ..i find it a bit washy and also a bit chattery at speed, so now looking at either a frontier or stratos.. mostly resort riding on piste (with skiers!) .. like like to go fats and also play in the side pow/trees..what would you go for?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  4 месяца назад

      Boot size? No on the Stratos. It is very chattery for someone your weight. It was for me at 185lbs. So Frontier or Flagship for you. Those are much stiffer than the Mtn Twin and much faster. If you want to get into it more hit me here to give me the info I need to help you much better. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

    Great review, Thank you! Need your help!
    Intermediate+ rider, 150lbs, 5'8, 9.5Boots (Vans), stance 21, riding 70%Groomers/20%Pow/10%Park. Current board older full camber 154 dir.twin. Love medium speed carving/playing around, mostly on blue and red slopes, pow on open areas and side tracks, no interest on bombing blacks or doing big jumps.
    Looking for new one board quiver longterm - stable, damp, fun, lighter weight and forgiving (had knee problems in the past). Boards Jones Mtw, Frontier, K2 Passport, Salomon Dancehaul, Korua Otto, Yes Standard. Bindings Bataleon Astro/Blaster, Katana/Vice or Union Strata/Ultra/Force, something damp and comfortable. What do you advice & thank you in advance!
    All good to everybody!

Best to hit me up here if you want to do this right. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/ Otherwise I'm just guessing. Speaking of, if you don't ride switch a lot go Frontier or Otto and possibly Passport. Maybe the Standard Uninc. If you had Knee Problems go Katana or Union Force. They are less damp than the Atlas but more shock absorbent.

    How do you like these compared to the black snowboard of death?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  27 дней назад

      I like the 2024 and 2025 BSOD a lot but it's a different board compared to the Twins on this list. It's more comparable to the Frontier. The Frontier has better grip, is stiffer, better in uneven terrain and has a little more float. The BSOD has more pop, feels more light/dynamic underfoot and has a faster base. • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  4 месяца назад

      Depends on how reduced your boots footprint is. 159 would be better if you want quicker turn initiation but 158w would be better if you plan to carve really hard and don't want to boot out. It will be slower though in tight spots and uneven snow. If you want to get into it more hit me here to give me the info I need to help you much better. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

However, he is a little bit taller, standing at 5'11". Which size of Frontier should he go with? Alternatively, should he go with the Mountain Twin, but it might be a bit stiff for him?@@thegoodridesnow

      159 Frontier or 157 Mtn Twin depending on what interests him more but hard to say with the limited info given. Have him hit me up here as there is a lot more to factor in if he want's to start out his snowboarding journey correctly. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

    Just to clarify at 6:08 you state the Aviator 2.0 is more washy then both the MT and UMT. Is this true? I was going to purchase one because it is a stiffer, full camber technical board. And it cant do what it was designed to do? I need to know this!!

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  6 месяцев назад

      Yes because the spoon tech is more pronounced and the camber goes almost to the nose/tail so you feel it more. You feel it most in harder snow, but in clean snow, it's not as bad. If you click through and read the written review I talk about it more.

    • @thegoodridesnow

      Not in good snow but but mainly when you carve in hard snow. The spoon nose/tail can feel a bit washy if you dont center weight the turn. People who drive front footed or back footed out of a turn will feel it most. Check 4:30

    The airlines lost my board LY at vail and I had a mountain twin to ride for a day. It's a great deck, pure all mountain, good in all areas but excelling at nothing..Its solid but boring. Also, somewhere in this or the other video it's mentioned "its washy" or something along those lines. It's "washy" because you're out of the weight range on a 157. I weigh the same as you 185-190 and 160 was perfect and never washed out on anything absolutely ripping turns . Riding is preference but there's a reason those weight ranges are what they are.

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  6 месяцев назад +3

      You are on point with how it rides but completely incorrect about sizing and why it washes out. The newer models with spoon tech are washy in hard snow because the lifted sides bleed a little into the effective edge and can get washy if you weight your turn a certain way. I talk about that in the review and how to avoid it.
      I've actually owned the older models in 160 and 157 without spoon tech. The 160 was too big/slow to turn for me. I got the 157, and was soo much happier. It never washed out no matter how I weighted my turns. Had zero issues, being 5 lbs over the recommended weight range. Another reviewer, Peter (similar specs), felt the same as me.
      Yes, sizing is subjective, and it's clear what works for you doesn't work for me. I don't think there is one way to size a board. I agree with what Jones says on their site, and I recommend sizes to readers based on this philosophy.
      "To decide between two sizes, choose the smaller size if your priority is maneuverability and freestyle performance. Choose the larger size if you're focused on riding fast and powder performance. A shorter board will be easier to turn and a longer board will offer better float and stability riding off-piste."
