It’s going to be really interesting to see what they do for the teams liveries since they filmed most of the driving last year with reshoots this year. Like will sauber be the old colour or the new bright green?
it turns out they’re going to be using footage from the teams and then replacing the teams car with their own recorded footage, it’s gonna be an amazing cut out job. I assume if theyre going to include any crashes with other teams those are going to be their own set off stunts.

Scott has a point of this being a marketing opportunity for F1, show it on the hollywood big screens to bring in people who aren't familiar to the sport. i agree no one in the racetracks speaks like that, but thats how Hollywood make dialogs and it works, Ford vs Ferrari has this level of cringy dialog and the movie was a hit.
On the other hand, Hollywood writers arent gonna bore us with F1 technicalities, they have to make it simple, otherwise most of the people who could watch this in the teather wouldnt understand.
And lastlyt, i dont know about F1 simulators, but most racing video games are like that, some cars are good on the straights, other ones are good in the corners and so on, in order to compensate and thats how racing videogames are balanced (that and slingshoting, but they cant portrait that in a movie).
Anyway, just enjoy the movie guys, no need to be hating.

unfortunately when the trailer has “so we need to be faster in the turns” and “a car built for combat”
I’m not expecting much. I mean they didn’t even say “corners”. like come on… if you really spent 12 months getting immersed in F1 then you’d know to say corners not turns. smh
that is a huge tell that whoever wrote the script is not an F1 fan and doesn’t know much of F1 or racing. so that also makes me pretty pessimistic about the quality of the story.

Nah if its V8/V10 then definitely yes. The V6T Hybrid sounded nice but Queen's guitar rifts there is super cool to match with the mood of the trailer. In the film they shouldnt, but I hope they turn it up LOUD for the scene because V6T Hybrid is actually way louder in person than what F1 broadcast can translate since they have commentaries to overlay on top. The movie should at least try capture that.

I have a feeling the "we need a car made for combat" line is part of a much bigger conversation. What it REALLY means is probably building a car that's really good in dirty air, in the sweepers, with mid/low-speed grip that can make the car actually perform well since it won't be able to pass on the straights with DRS. And yes, part of that mindset means building a car that can bang sidepods and not fall apart, as it were.

lets see if it can match up to the 1966 movie "Grand Prix". It was a blockbuster and extremely innovative AND realistic, with great story lines and human drama... as well as some great racing drivers and teams and racing scenes and footage... a true classic in the all time great films about motor racing. "F1", hopefully, will live up to the standard set back then. I watched "Grand Prix" as a kid in 1966 in the theater in "Cinerama" which was kind of the "IMAX" of the day, as a kid of 11 years old and have been hooked on the sport since. Still highly recommended today. I still get goose bumps seeing all of the driver greats of the era in the movie. "F1" does the same thing... very happy about that some 58 years later. looking forward to 2025! I hope some of the "Drive to Survive" generation takes the time to watch AND appreciate the classic film, as well as the sacrifices that have taken drivers lives to help make the sport as safe and great as it is today.

I dont understand why the F1 onboard cameras are only 720p? The tiny camera on the tiny 249 g DJI Mini 4 Pro drone shoots at 4k 60 frames per second so why F1 cant at the very least move up to 1080P I have no idea. Having said that I watch formula one on the Channel 4 hightlights and I recon that is only streamed at 720P, but thats a guess. Other wish list items, a little in camera stabilisation would make it better to watch and make the footage look more like it looks from the drivers perspective, not getting rid of all the shake, just the insane brain juddering vibration we currently have.

See, the problem for me as someone who follows F1 is that, well, I follow F1.
I LOVE the level of immersion they've gone to in this movie from what I can see, and I love even more that F1 allowed them to do it (the occasional diss from certain other real F1 drivers forgiven, of course). I love the camera angles they're showing us, the intensity, the realness, and the the impression of speed. God knows one of the problems of real F1 broadcasts is that any impression of the speeds they're really running with are flattened by the cameras.
That said, I also know that the car is not an F1 car, and I can never un-see it. I hear "we need to build a car for combat" and it rankles. I hear "Who said anything about safe?" and I can only imagine a world where the fatalities of the 1960 Belgian GP, and Jackie Stewart's crash at the same circuit 6 years later, didn't prompt Jackie to engage in an epic and legendary safety campaign in F1.
This of course means a world where modern F1 would still be a horrific sport where drivers are morbidly celebrated and admired almost as superheros for putting their lives firmly on the line at every race, with few curbs and safety barriers, and trees around every corner. A world where those drivers that manage beyond all odds to survive each year in Formula 1 keep dreading the inevitable fan favourite race at the unmodified and deeply unsafe Nüburgring Nordschleife.
A world where no safety campaign ever ultimately led to the creation of the Halo, which thus never saved the life of Lewis Hamilton from the spinning wheel of Verstappen's RB16B in their epic WDC battle that year, and as such this movie was never created.
I will enjoy this movie, no doubt, for what it is, and I will enjoy it's depiction of the speed and competition of F1... but I cannot honestly say that I am going to be able to suspend my disbelief and accept it as being a meaningful representation of what F1 actually is, despite the many and numerous things about F1 it appears to go to great lengths to get absolutely right.
It makes me sad, a little. It tries so hard and achieves so much, but by giving in to the temptation of just those few Hollywood tropes, it lets itself down so badly: I mean, I'm sure it's still great... but why settle for great if you were aiming for perfect!

I know this is a teaser trailer, but there's something concerning about the F1 trailer from a story point of view and that's the film doesn't seem to feature an antagonist or a conflict outside of this 11th team. I've heard the story is about an old driver who comes out of retirement to help a rookie make a name for himself...which is a pretty tired storyline...but it still needs something else. Take the movie Grand Prix (1966) that featured fictional drivers at BRM, Ferrari and Honda fighting for a championship. Ford Vs Ferrari was literally about Ford verses Ferrari. Even Days of Thunder had Tom Cruise against a nemesis in the form of a driver. The F1 movie seems to be about team developing a car in isolation from the rest of the F1 grid. That's not going to be that interesting if it's just about the ins and outs of the 11th team. Just my 2 cents worth.

I don't think this one will be in either of those categories. The opening minutes of Le Mans and the quality of Grand Prix will forever stand as the absolute pinnacle.
