    I tested the Mega Merc against the Arbor Wasteland Camber 2022 for 1 day and in the end bought the Capita.
    The Arbor, no doubt, is a great aggressive all-mountain board that carves well, is stable for high speed riding, has an ok pop and looks great. If the Wasteland was a car, it would propably be a Mustang: solid engine, rides fast, decent quality - nothing wrong with that. But the Mega Merc is a 911, always more agile, more direct contact & feedback for the rider and especially a lot more agile when it came to changing from toe to heel edge. Also, it has exactly that level of stiffness that you want for a decent recound at the end of a toe side. I might add, that I tried boh boards in the Austian Alps on a day that started very cold / icy and ended up so warm that the snow almost felt like spring riding. For all conditions the Capita was a blast - tremendous grip on ice, easy to "surf" on wet & heavy snow and, just like a 911, always giving you the feeling that there would even be potential for more. So if you still can find one - get it.

  • @uniwertz
    @uniwertz 2 года назад +3

    I live in Russia. I'm an intermediate rider. Got my new 161 mega merc (+union strata) a month ago.
    Already ride it at green (6km, Roza Khutor), blue (2km), red, and one black track (GLK Sok), through the forest.
    Previous board - Outerspace Living 2021/22. (not fitted my weight)
    My experience of Mega:
    1. I ride through a forest and didn't fall, not a single time. That's a record for me in that forest (GLK Sok). This board kinda reading your mind and doing it really fast.
    2. Terrifyingly fast. No one passed me over while driving mega.
    3. Incredibly light and poppy. Really strange feeling.
    4. "What do we say to the ice, Mega?" - "I don't give a f**k"
    5. Pleasant noise which is fairly like Bugatti Chiron breathing. (you heard it, I know)
    The only thing I regret is that I'm heavy - 90kg. I can't do jumps.
    Actually, I don't even try jumps, because I keep in mind that this is AN EXTREME SPORT, and jumping while you're 90 kg IS NOT THE SAME when you're 70 kg.
    Even after 10+ years of a skateboard and 2 full years of a longboard, whatever.

    Board. I’m thinking I might be better suited for a smaller board??.. I ride a bit of everything from powder to groomed trails and park and and not sure if I should go 159 or 157. Anyone got any thoughts or guidance they could give me?

  • @Goenatxo
    @Goenatxo 2 года назад +1

    Hey Angry! I have been following your reviews for a while and I bought the 2021155 Mercury with the union falcor last year after watching your review. Before I was riding a 159 Forum Nugget and I definitely noticed the improvement regarding board reactivity, playfullness in the park and response in powder, but I felt like I lost control when giving it all in a fast pist ride. Maybe is due to the change in size, but I weight 76-77 kg and 182 cm so I should be inside the specs for the 155. Anyway, I am considering to either change it to a 157 or to take a Mega Merc. I mainly throw myself off pist, make big jumps but almost no complex tricks and love carve and go fast when in pist. What do you think?

    Hey, I haven't ridden anything but super stiff directional camber boards since the last time I bought a snowboard, these rocker thingmajigs just started coming out :D So yes, rad dad category probably with 20 years of riding. But I find myself in too small hills these days to enjoy as much high speed carving as I'd like to so I'm getting back to more jumps and buttering, playing around. Do you figure this would be a good fit? I will not sacrifice a good carve and as much speed as possible, but I want some playfulness and relaxation too. Also considering the assassin pro.

Im not as into freestyle riding as I thought I was going to be, I really enjoy hard charging and moderate to fast speed carving down groomers but I find my current board and binding set up gets bucked around quite a bit when I get up to speed. Looking for a board that can handle charging down groomers and laying some carves but also won't hold me back too much if I want to learn some basic freestyle tricks. I was thinking looking at getting either the Capita Mercury or Mega Merc, or any other suggestions you may have. Also thinking about pairing this board with a pair of Union Falcors or Union Atlas or Rome cleavers, dods or katanas, which would be a better binding to pair with this type of board ? Thanks in advance!

    Mega Merc or Ultra Mountain Twin? My other board is a 151 Magic Carpet, looking for something aggressive to compliment it (size 9.5 boot 153/154 board size respectively) id ideally like to be able to lay it over so i was thinking mega merc for the width. Plus I assume that width makes it pretty comparable to the ult mtn twin in powder with its spoon

    Looking for some advice… I’ve been an east coast snowboarder my whole life. I’ve exclusively rode super flexy flat/rocker park boards. Never really looked that deep into snowboard tech, I just wanted to hike park. I’m spending my first winter in Colorado and I want to expand my riding horizons (jumps, free ride, groomers, etc.) without sacrificing my roots in the park. Right now I can only afford 1 board and 1 set of bindings. Is the mega merc right for me or would I be better suited on something different? Thanks.

    Im around 200lbs, 5"9 with a size 10.5 boot. I think im going for the 157 mega merc if its big enough for my foot size or would you recommend the 159 for a more allmtn, buttering and side hits rider?
    I own the 2021 jones mercury bindings size M, are they good with the mega merc or should i buy other bindings?

    The review I have been waiting for thanks man. I was about to pull the trigger on a 2021 BSOD but can't find one in my size in the UK. Was considering a 2022 but from your comments in this review it sounds like that's a different board? Assumed after the 21 changes it would stay the same for a year? Now thinking the mega might be good for me? Really wanted the extra edge hold and speed I'd get from the BSOD but seems like I get that but a bit more switchy buttery doodah from the mega?!? • @anz80
      @anz80 10 месяцев назад

      Hi. Could you please explain what makes the difference between those bindings? I had union stratas on my huck knife, and they where ok, but felt kind of strange. Then I switched them to rome vice, and I was like what the hell, this is how a binding should feel and ride. The biggest difference between stratas and vice is the adjustable footbed, and the ankle strap. Also the highback feels different. In stratas it's like the ones used in the -90's, and especially when going slow, it doesnt feel right 🤷‍♂️

    • @JustinUrban1
      @JustinUrban1 10 месяцев назад

      I can’t speak to the Vice bindings, but I do own the Stratas.
      Main differences are the Katana’s flex being stiffer and made for more all mountain, whereas the Stratas are a softer flex.
      The base plate on the Stratas also could make the difference as they are the mini disk, giving them more of a surfy feel. Or the Asym wrap.
      Another major difference is that the Romes have a great amount of adjustable options for the heel strap. This helped me get the perfect fit for riding different styles or conditions.
      I’m no expert on the matter. These are just the things that I noticed while owning both bindings referenced in your comment.

    • @anz80
      @anz80 10 месяцев назад

      @@JustinUrban1 Vice is pretty much the same as Katana, but less adjustable. I didnt feel much difference in their flex, except the mini disc. I also had a problem with stratas, because they have a harder foam edge in the heelside of the footbed, and my boot was resting on it. So thats why I didnt get the most of the dampening from it, and it also made me feel like Im all the time up on my toes. So what was wrong with forces?

    I am not sure which snowboard to pick out of these three:
    Capita Mega Merc
    Capita BSOD
    K2 Alchemist
    I am an expert rider with the following riding styles:
    - bomb down groomer going at high speeds (very rarely paired with a little indie grab or so)
    - carve deep in mid to big turns at high speeds
    - when conditions allow go off piste in powder, or off piste besides groomer inbetween treues/through wood
    (very rarely doing little tricks, 180’s and switches); but finally it must be considered that these perfect pow days become more and more rare -> then it’s left to bombing groomers
    - After half day riding groomers and piste usually get messy and bumpy so the Board should handle crud and chunder like a charm.
    Do you have any final advise?
