Guys, How do you generate speed from a chest turn and don’t release your wrist ? I love your instructions.

They are releasing the wrist just with more of a slap move rather than a rolling over move

Just want to thank you all for incredibly helpful content. It was a video short that was a light bulb moment for better trail wrist angle at the top that helped increase my clubhead speed, compression, and club face control through impact. Helped me get my first eagle on a par 5 the other day. Second shot put me in position for 80 yard SW up the steep hill to the green, holed it! Thought my buddies were messing with me when I got to green and looking for my ball. Thanks a ton fellas!

Great stuff. Love the in-depth discussion. It would be helpful when talking about the wrist flexion/extension release pattern to show impact (P7) from a face-on view. Is there shaft lean at impact? Hopefully yes? If the release pattern is left hand extension (right hand player) through impact which results in the club head passing the hands, then there's a "scooping" action which has its own set of issues - club head bottoming out before impact, club face pointing left at impact, poor compression, etc? It would be helpful to show how you avoid these issues. In your construct, I believe the answer is the sternum pointing forward of the ball through the downswing rotation which moves the bottom of the swing forward of the ball but it would be helpful to show this and reinforce it? All great players have varying degrees of shaft lean at impact depending upon the club? Keep up the great work. Loved the show with Mark Immelman!

I used to play with what was called a stable release, but without what I will call the slap that you demonstrate. I just flattened my left wrist and rotated my chest while firing my right shoulder complex and right elbow. After a while I was able to time every thing up and hit the ball pretty much straight. The Driver I just added some weight to the heal which helped me to hit a push draw. I stopped playing about ten years ago to play tennis. Gave up tennis to play golf again about a year ago and now that I am 81, I am shorter. I was shown a roll release which got me longer, but with the inconsistency that you talked about. Looks like you have given me the best of both worlds I have been looking for. Now I just have to substitute the current roll with the slap you are showing. I could not be happier to find this video. I will incorporate the slap you have shown me and hopefully I can find the timing to be consistent with the distance. In time I will report back and let you know how I am doing. I texted you guys to see how your lessons work. Hope to hear back soon. TY.

You guys are putting out some of the best content right now, it's really helping to fundamentally understand the golf swing on a deeper level. It would be really interesting to see the mental side of practice (thoughts after a bad shot or a good shot, how to get the highest return on your reps, how to think about making corrections on the range, how are you focusing on hitting the best possible shots, what are you thinking about in between shots, how to go from range to course, mentally what you do when the range to the course doesn't work out as planned haha this would be my most watched section of the video). I'd also be really interested to see a lesson where one of you is the coach and the other is the student. From the students perspective it would be helpful to break down what they are thinking as they are being coached, it would be cool to see the thought process of how to implement changes, key take aways from the lesson as it's happening, mistakes average golfers are making during a lesson as it relates to learning the new skill, things that a good golfer is focused on during the lesson. I'm really fascinated by the mental side of the game because I think there is a great potential for high value .

One other video comment your position relative to the camera. Once more - Golden! The introduction part with the different kinds of wrist movements and what they do to the club face was a revelation. Seems obvious after the fact, but it really helped me further my understanding of the golf swing. I guess this ties in with a mental concept that coach Riley has been talking about before on Instagram - imagining the club shaft is filled with water and then emptying it of water in the down swing (from p5).
Can't wait for next week's episode! And yes, the sound was great!

    1. Can you explain what the head is doing during impact and after? Is it moving with the rib cage rotation or does it remain where it was at address. As a guy who tends to flip due to the body rotation stalling through impact it is difficult for me to keep turning without moving the head in the direction of travel.

Thx alot .. ive been slicing a long time, and I am sick of it. I now feel like im slamming the clubhead into the ground on my right side as l turn.. this has helped alot .. simetimes i feel that the clubhead gets unstable when I get to my 4i. I still have a slight fade but my smash factor is 1.36 7i and 1.42 ish with my 3 wood. Im afraid that im not using my body enough and too much hands to realese the club. The more i fade/slice the more i try to roll the hands...
I will try these drills... but should l not swing the clubhead at the ground? I feel this gives me my speed..
    Cheers
    Thomas

Absolutely Marvelous content. I am incorporating these ideas in my swing, but I'm still a little fuzzy on what exactly the wrists are doing at impact. I have always understood that a curtain amount of 'release', or 'breaking of the wrists is necessary in order to get that 'snap' at the bottom thereby generating the clubhead speed necessary for maximum distance. It's like snaping a towel, when the 'snap' is heard you know that for that fraction of a second, the end of the towel is moving extremely fast... Thoughts? Or.. is the snap really necessary with this method?

    • @elitegolfschools

OK, so there is a combination of RD & rear hand extension in the backswing, and you release that hinge as you swing through, turning into UD & rear hand flexion = stable face release pattern. Is there no rear arm supination in the backswing at all? I recall another video where you say to do kind of a circle move that includes rear arm supination after RD & extension in order to shallow the club as its was designed. Can you clarify?

    • @elitegolfschools
      @elitegolfschools  10 месяцев назад

We prefer to see extension and a small amount of pronation in the load phase. The unload would involve some supination if necessary and a passive flexion release through the strike and into finish. Because of that release at sol point (when the wrist moves into a neutral flexion/extension state) you’ll see UD.

You mentioned Hogan but because of the fascination of him is where supination and pronation started, everyone saw the pictures of him with the bowed left wrist, this has ruined
generations of golfers trying to get that bowed left wrist and then rolling of the club face, which requires hitting hundreds of balls a day to time it perfectly. Which is what Hogan did, anything that requires that much effort to get it right tells you it’s too difficult to do. So why do it? Wrists going into flexion and extension is the way to go, it’s nothing new, Mike Austin promoted this way back also Mike Malaska, talks about this all the time and I see it more and more lately.
