You are clueless. New teachers see 350 kids a day in grade school. Class sizes are now at over 45 kids per class. There are 20% of kids that are special needs, and when you were a child, there were LESS than ONE percent. Each child has something the teacher needs to remember... So... with over 50 kids with problems, and NO ONE in the entire school helping the teacher, NOT EVEN THE PARENT.... of course she is going to fail. Yeah, her dumb ass daughter CAN die... and did she do ANYTHING to help? Nope. She, like YOU, just assumed the teacher ddnt want to help. Teachers have rules by the SCHOOLS.... not up to the teacher. I have had a diabetic kid eating a snack in my class and got written up for allowing the child to eat a snack!! I got suspended for breaking the school rules, and when I finaly met with the principal and the union rep, all I got was a "Gee.. sorry, ddnt know you had an IEP you were following." On the cursing story: I REALLY don’t like cursing, and do find it offensive, especially when kids are around. However: I do not expect other people to feel the same way. And understand that it is understandable for someone to curse if they are startled or hurt. I had a friend in high school who was Catholic, and felt the same way about swearing. She got her hair stuck in an auger while helping her dad with yardwork, and ended up shouting out the F word a couple dozen times. Her little sisters and brothers were around, and heard her, and no one held it against her. It is a perfectly understandable reaction.

Story one: Not the jerk. Diabetes is not something to joke around with, speaking as someone who's had it for a few months now. I got diagnosed with Type-2 diabetes when I was in the hospital with an infection in my right middle finger and needed surgery (more accurately, 2 within 24 hours of each other). Either your sugar is too high and you get dizzy when you stand up too fast, or drops too low and you get dizzy and physically sick to the point of collapse. I would definitely have taken the complaint to the school board regarding that teacher's behavior.

@@cnervip I've basically lived all of my adult life knowing I have hypoglycemia. I was diagnosed with it just before I turned nineteen. Which I never know when it's going to dropout on me. Plus I don't always recognized when my blood glucose level is dropping. My daughter can recognize the one or two potential symptoms which is my stutter becomes more obvious or I'm shakier than normal. But she also knows that's not always the case, as she also knows if I'm very angry (it's never been directed at her thankfully), either or both can get worse, or if I get very stressed. Low blood sugar can be very deadly, and some people thinks it's not a serious issue. Which shows how misinformed they are about people with any type sugar issue.
The worst type are those who read an article or two, and thinks that they're become experts and are more than qualified on the matter, to give advice on how to treat it, and believes in homeopathic medicine, and that "by following the right plan" such things can be cured. What a laugh, as there isn't a cure for either type of diabetes and the rare individuals born with low blood sugar.

the first story reminded me of the one time my middle school biology teacher had some pollinating willow branches in a vase on his desk, since they look nice and are somewhat of a symbolic thing during easter here, they however made me have a fairly immediate allergic reaction, thankfully he was NOT an asshole, took immediate notice and made sure to open every window, get the branches out of the room ASAP (I think he ended up moving them to the teachers lounge) and insisted I go to the nurse's office instead of staying in the class, since the damage had been done and there was enough pollen in the air for my allergy to potentially worsen, so as much as I love biology, I had to sit that one out.
(also a few years after that I realized how bad it would've been had I not caved and gone to the nurse's office, since during high school one morning I woke up unable to breathe which ended up being anaphylaxis, after having left the balcony door open for fresh air without checking any sort of forecast, which would've immediately said that the pollen levels shot sky high that night)

Cursing Story: Why was the BIL sitting at the "head" of the table? Typically that's where the owner of the house sits (so either OP or their husband should be sitting there). Guests don't ever sit there, plus if it's a family gathering where everyone typically helps out, again why were they sitting at the table instead of helping?
Last Story: There shouldn't have beeen a reason why OP was left when they were younger. All that tells me is that their parents didn't want them with them at all while on the trip. Based on that, it's their own fault that they were excluded later when OP went when they were older.

For the brother in law. Not the jerk.
Also she swore, she didn't curse.
Curse words in the English vernacular are usually words like "damn" like "god damn it, Jesus Christ, son of a bitch" basically meant to morally damn and demoralize someone spiritually.
Saying "shit!!" When you burn your hands, or stub your toe..... Doesn't count.
Have had this argument with my brother who is a pastor, and his friend who is a friar.... Picture the van Helsing joke irl between them "I'm just a friar, I can curse all I want....... Damn it" now me I'm not religious, hell my brother's inlaw have referred to me on more than one occasion as "the dirty heathen" happen to know "ALL" of the curse words that piss them off and delight in reminding them what they are when they try this same argument with me😊

Of course the school fired her for creating a huge liability issue. If OP's daughter had gone into hypoglycemic shock due to the teacher's actions, the school would be wide open for a lawsuit.
It wasn't OP who fired her. It was the school board. They saw how big of a problem what this teacher did was, and we don't know the teacher's reaction to being reprimanded. If the teacher wasn't a huge AH, she would have apologized and made some kind of indication that it was a mistake on her part. Presumably, that didn't happen, so the teacher got herself fired.

In my family, family takes care of one another and you always offer assistance no matter what. But although I don't agree, I still respect his opinion about not wanting to be hospitable to the one who almost entirely left him.

I just wanted to comment off of the first responder to the first post. When the responder mentioned the kid with a nut allergy hypothetical. I want to make one thing very clear, it is the responsibility of the person (or their guardians) with the allergy to avoid the allergen. It is no one else's problem. It is solely yours. If you don't want to be around your allergen, say for example peanuts, then you don't tell people at the cafeteria they aren't allowed to eat their peanuts, you don't go to the cafeteria. Which means you must plan around not eating at the cafeteria while people are in their who may be eating their peanut butter and jelly sandwich. You don't get to dictate what others can or can't enjoy just because you have a allergy. Classrooms can be considered different because children are required to be there, but that's why the responsiblty falls upon their guardian, in a classroom that person is the teacher.

Story 1: Sure, why not? Every teacher at this school seems to understand diabetes and how dangerous it can be for type 1 patients to not eat a snack when they have to, but of course the NEW teacher thinks they have a right to power play and know everything better. Does she have a medical degree as well? The teacher was fired for her incompetence and endangering a minor, not because of OP.

First story: OP is absolute NTA. The fact that the teacher not only put the child at risk by not allowing her the snack despite being aware of her medical condition, but had the audacity to blame the parent and the child for her getting fired over it, and even calling the child an entitled brat, just proves that they had no business whatsoever being in charge of children. I had a teacher once who treated me terribly one school year, and even she did not talk to me or my grandmother like that after she was fired due to how she treated me. I hope the teacher in the first story not only lost their job, but also their certification as well, because they do not need to be in charge of any classroom, now or ever.

Also- dude the mom in story 3 is so entitled!!! Not only is she harassing OP but she's also telling her to change their work hours to fit their schedule and on top of that they're only offering $10 an hour???
