For the first story I would have gotten a restraining order against the sister in law so she has no way to contact my family or is able to see my baby. Because of her remarks.
Would have been interesting if they allowed her to take the baby and then reported her as kidnapped immediately after they leave the apartment

People told my white mom she wasn't the right person to raise her OWN black-ish children because she couldn't do our hair, which was untrue. She had my dad's sister teach her all about black hair as soon as I had enough to style. People are so stupid.

And yeah, as much as I wish I wasn't related to the man I'm 100% sure we have the same dad.
If I was OP (first story), I'd have used the attempted kidnapping of my kid by my soon-to-be ex-MIL and SIL to make sure I got full custody and that neither of them would be allowed around my daughter without at least my supervision, and I'd never let them hold her again! I'm glad and honestly surprised they didn't try to kidnap OP's daughter again!

My dad was very light skinned, green eyes, blonde hair. My mom is from Zimbabwe, she has a beautiful dark purpleish skin colour ❤ i came out redhead. When i was 6, we were shopping at the mall because it was my birthday and i was looking for some toys with my mom. There was a lady staring at us with a sus looking, eye peering. Minutes after that police arrived at the store and approached us, the officer asked my mom if she was BABYSITTING me, or why was the reason i was with her. My mom shocked almost in tears replied SHE'S MY DAUGHTER. That son of a bih didn't believe her and said we needed to go to the police station to "clear as much as possible this situation". I'll never gonna forget those words and. What you mean clear the situation? My father reached us, and told the officer he was my father and my mother his wife. He was shocked.

People used to think my dad was black because I always drew him with a really dark tan.

1st story: This reminds me of the times when my parents & I were harassed by "karens" who claimed we were NOT a family as my mom was light skinned, my Dad was dark & I'm golden skinned (olive colored)! Wish I had a million dollars every time that happened because I could put J.D. Rockefeller on Skid row!😅

With the Asian Grandma story, I'm a short woman, but I always feel so tall when I help a random Asian woman out in a store. Doesn't matter if it's in an Asian market, or a big chain retail store.
In my experience, and I've had this happen to me in three separate states in the USA, they ask so politely. Understanding that I'm not an employee, but they use the "grandma magic" and I can't help but to help.
Oh yes. The joys of being tall in public. I’m 6‘3“, although not many people ask me to help get stuff off of the top shelf I do feel obligated to help those I see struggling. At my Walmart, where they decided to double the shelf height.
That grandma sounded awesome, letting him stay past his bed time to see the premiere of Samurai Jack (One of the top 5 cartoons of all time, imo).

Story 3 - I chuckled a bit. There are two downsides to being tall: the first is that people always ask you to get stuff for them from on high, and the second is the daily destruction of your shins, as you can't see things below a certain height.

I'm absolutely awe about the sis in laws behavior in the first story its just horrible
Yet it happens all the time. Usually, it’s from strangers, not family. Asian people used to demand to know why my half Japanese baby was with me. Her hair was bone straight for the first 2 years. It never did curl. She could pass for Filipino; they claim her all the time anyway, and that’s what people usually assume about her. With my son, on the other hand, since he is darker, only other Blk ppl can tell he’s Asian because they actually notice that his hair and eyes are different from most Blk ppl while non-Blk ppl simply observe his skin color.

Like, I can get how recent immigrants or even people one or two generations removed but with a family that's still strongly tied to a culture that's generally really low on racial diversity could have some trouble with that. Not that I approve of their reactions, but I understand the logic they used to reach their conclusions at least. This is like racism WITHIN a race. Like the subatomic particle equivalent for racism. I feel like there should be a term for that. There probably is, I just don't feel like looking it up right now.

I was at the local grocery the other day and my older sister wanted Ramune but the area had people all over it, plus she doesn't really like interaction with public so i politely asked if they'd step away for a moment so my sister could come through, one of the looked at me and snickered, what sister what does she look .Ike cause I don't see her. She said it in the most preppy snobbish tone I've heard so I cut through and grab one and say as I left stupid karren. I hope she heard that too.

I saw one on reddit similar to this. The mother was black, the father was white. She was pregnant when the father died in a car wreck. The child was quite pale and the woman's former sister-in-law ACTUALLY kidnapped the child. But got caught at the airport when she couldn't provide a passport or any documentation for the baby. Then she tried to sue OP for custody, lost, and then when the kid was about 7 and in grade school, tried to kidnap the kid from the school and ended up in prison.
