Things you don't know about this video: that was the last video with blue hair! Even though blue is one of my fav colors, my skin looked so green and pale next to blue. I guess that's color theory in a nutshell?
Also the first page you saw me inking in this video made me feel SO proud. Like I truly had no idea I could draw/ink something like that. Because I want the publishers to like this book, I've been very intentional about wow-ing them, I truly hope they like this proposal.
Also also: bangs are not for me. They look awesome when you're fresh out of the salon, but I'm not very skilled when it comes to styling them myself.
the "intimidating page" is absolutely gorgeous! All the manga studies definitely paid off, and the brush textures are so fun
That's exactly why I prefer traditional art. It's like life. You make a mistake, you live with it. You try and make the best of it. And because of the permanence you really have to be present and aware with every stroke. I think we have become way too comfortable with digital art and the option to always undo and correct however many times we like. We have the luxury to not care because we can try hundred times anyway. Well, in real life, we can't. If you said something, it's said. You cannot take anything back, you cannot undo what has been done. And that's the beauty of it in my eyes.

Watching you ink your Graphic Novel is so very calming. With the new paper size you can see so much details of your brush strokes especially in the clouds around the moon 🤤. You will absolutely wow-ing the publishers! 🩵

Hi Fran, I’m not an illustrator, Howe I’ve always been a perfectionist. So, the idea of making something not perfect made me crazy. Now, I have embraced the idea that imperfections are fine and give character to all things, including art. By the way, could you make a video on the supplies you’re using and loving at the moment? Love the hair! Would also love a new video about current favorite art supplies you're using for both the novel and for other/pleasure. The parallel glider, the pencils/pens, what paper are you using, why you like them, etc. I like the videos in which you go art supply shopping or do a deep dive on replacing your favorite discontinued gel pen! Thank you and please give kisses to your kitty-man!

I understand so well the fear of trying to do anything in a physical medium. Having no “undo” button is terrifying.
The amount of control you have with brushes, maintaining thin and thick lines is inspiring. And those textures on the sky and tree bark! Amazing! Good job, as always!
40 pages for a pitch??? that's an extremely high number, Fran. That's so much work you're doing without the guarantee of publication. I really hope they let you use those as final art as well in the project. Just for reference, for my first graphic novel, I sent in 12 sample pages, a sample script, an outline and character studies. Your pages look absolutely stunning, btw!

The shaking and nervousness are not visible at all. I have to say, watching you work is actually very calming and soothing. I feel motivated to try and finish some projects now! 🌟
I am not an illustrator, or anything like that, but I do love to doodle, and inking any sketch is always the part I dread the most. Kind of like writing an essay during an exam. The pencil draft comes out easily without having to use an eraser, but as soon as you take out the pen to write the final... Corrector all over the place!

Your hair looks beautiful! I love all the pastel vibes you put your hair through.. it's such a great look for you. The cut length is awesome too, both in the main vlog and in the skillshare part where it's a little purpler and styled with a slight soft messy curl. Ooooo, so lovely. And the clips are adorable. (also got lots of words of praise about your awesome artwork, but this is a hair complimenting comment)
Ok, I have to comment again. The cut length of your hair looks so good i have to say it twice. I looks so good. I'm considering cutting my hair again - thanks for the great reminder of how good that length looks.

@@sorryangelina I believe it's the pentel fude brush pen. they're just a little pricey in the uk since they're imported, plus you then refill them with ink 🥰

it's been a really long time since last I work with pen on paper but inking will always be one of my biggest fear since I cannot undo things anymore. admire the control you have with your pens. keep going, Fran, you got this!
Before you ink, make copies with a scanner/printer. It will make you feel better. ❤

This is exactly the type lf thing ive been meaning to work on. Ive been creating characters mostly and i enjoyed the jazz.
Scaling up the page size makes your art look different to me anyway, I noticed the page size but I also noticed the details in your art style which is lovely.

Maravilloso el proceso. De hecho, cuando antes se hacia todo mediante el método tradicional, los dibujantes hacían las páginas en un tamaño algo más grande que un A3 (incluyendo sangres y líneas de seguridad) así que has hecho bien en aumentar el tamaño. Yo hace poco hice una minihistorieta y la hice toda a tradicional y termine sintiéndome incomoda con el tamaño folio.

Estoy aprendiendo a tatuar, te entiendo jaja. Hacer una línea, un punto, requiere de mucha concentración porque no hay vuelta atrás. Aún estoy aprendiendo a lidiar con los nervios jaja 😭

I can only work traditionally, I can't draw digitally (I tried, but it wasn't for me). I love that 'flaws' can be part of the process/beauty. #WabiSabi ❤️
Igual tenga cuidado con los detalles...porque si achican el tamaño para la publicación.. perderá los detalles. O la textura que aplicas quedará muy juntas, puede perder la "textura".
Espero que lo hayas probado achicando con la impresora para ver los resultados.
