As a retired police officer in Baltimore, it’s not as easy as it used to be to get a man arrested on the allegations when the police r called. Most of the time the woman will go to the Court Commissioner and get an ExParte order to force him out of the house. In Maryland, women are starting to get arrested and removed from the house. I once told a couple I was going to arrest both of them because I could not determine who was the aggressor. She changed her story real quick.

She and him were leaving for a trip that weekend and said "We'll talk about it when I get back". While she was gone, packed all her stuff in boxes, and had them waiting for her in the dining room when she got back. She ended up moving into an apartment with him (he was married too), and of course the relationship failed within a few months. I'm also in Florida, and all marital assets are pretty much split 50/50. The judge will probably force the sale of the house, and they will each get half of the equity.

Men need to process the fact that woman, balance of probability, will plan their exit. They'll have people in their ear coaching them & they will start walking thru the play book long before you may know what she's doing. This is a high stakes situation guys get caught up in, maybe the most serious one they'll be engaged in during their life, act accordingly.

Not always the case in Canada, but divorce here is costly even when she doesn't.
I barely made more than my ex, she neglected her diabetes shortly after she moved out. No problem asking me to take her to a doctor but refused to ask her friends and family. I told her if she thought her life was better without me, she needs to experience life without me.
She wound up hospitalized a week later when she finally decided to ask someone else for help. Over the next 2 years she, used the fact her foot had been infected and was at risk of being amputated as an excuse to try to take 1/2 my income for the next 20 years to life.
My lawyer suggested when he realized she was on welfare just before the court date, to settle.
There was less than 15k equity in the house because we were allowed to use the value on the day she moved out as opposed to the covid housing market value, so I got the house for only $6k. It's current value is about 200k more than when she moved out.
My lawyer craftily negotiated an interim spousal support that was on 1/4 my salary, but the court Master had advised my ex's lawyer she shouldn't have negotiated; so we expected a big fight over spousal support... but in the 2 years since then, her lawyer pawned her off on an inexperienced associate. I assume it was a combination of my ex being caught making some serious false accusations I could disprove with documentation and that she couldn't really afford this lawyer. The associate graduated during covid and my lawyer had over 40 years experience in family law. He negotiated a lump sum equal to a little less than 1 year of my base salary. I think the only reason this got accepted was because the associate was intimidated by my lawyer's experience and reputation of being like an angry pit bull in court.
She barely got enough to cover her legal fees, it at all.
However, my lawyer had explained if we went to court with her being on welfare and potentially facing amputation, a judge would view the case as a man with a decent job vs a disabled woman on welfare and side with my ex.
I am not even sure the amputation prognosis was legit. Her old lawyer, the experienced one with a reputation as a ball buster, sat in the board of directors for the hospital the doctor who issued the prognosis was working in. I suspect even if he wasn't in fear for his job, she had him in her back pocket witj her position of influence at the hospital.

Rich, what you don't mention is, there's probably another guy in the picture. That's why she wants him out of the house. Like you said staying in the house will likely compel her to bring false accusations. The police remove you from YOUR house and she changes the locks, protection orders ensue. Now she has effectively removed you from your house.
Gentleman, when it looks likely that you are heading for divorce. The first thing you need to do is maintain your composure. That way she won't be able to call the cops on you right away. Then slowly begin to remove items most precious to you that she would not, notice. Got a thousands dollar baseball card collection, expensive watches, clothes, sneakers etc. Get them out of the house and give them to your friends. The houses and cars are gonna go to her, especially if you have kids involved. Again, removal and hiding your treasures must be done before she is able to get you out of the house. And, Rich is right keep seeing your children REGULARLY as this will factor in greatly how much child support you will have to pay. Remember gentleman, the state issued marriage license is her prenupt agreement. Once you sign it the marriage power dynamic shifts to her.
When it comes to marriage and divorce today you have to be just as deceitful and cunning as she is.

    • @jamesballard6564
      @jamesballard6564 2 месяца назад +7

Your correct about everything but one item. When she filed a DV report that immediately cuts you off from her, your house AND your kids. You will have to wait till your first court hearing to plea your case in order to see your kids. Those odds will be against you. This is what happened to me before social media (2002) so I had now idea what was coming. This is the exact tactic lawyers and DV shelters will teach your soon to be ex. Expect this as the norm, not the exception.

Better yet, stay single, do not cohabitate, do the things that bring you joy, and put a huge dent in the universe.

I didn't leave - i moved into the spare, used a spare bathroom. She cheated on me and came to find out she told everyone i had cheated on her. She has a little plan all set and was forced to negotiate with me to end the marriage when she realized i wasn't going to just stay with my folks and give her space. Got married to a 22-year old with a high school education. She wanted to further her education, so after a year of marriage she went to university to get her education degree while I supported her. After 4-years, she graduated but couldn’t find a job and decided to move to another city (a 3 hour drive away) saying she “wasn’t going to waste her degree”.
Saw her most weekends for the next 2-years until one weekend (her turn to come “home”) she didn’t show up. Wouldn’t answer her phone or reply to texts and then called me 5-days later saying we had to “talk”.
Met at a restaurant when she told me she wanted a divorce and told me the only reason she married me was to get her degree… literally called me a “sucker”.

    1. In almost all US states, if the house was purchased after the date of marriage, it's their house, regardless of the name on the deed. 2. Video cameras are cheap, and hugely helpful in false assault charges. They can quickly change you leaving in cuffs to her being cuffed for filing a false report. 3. I'm days away from being divorced, and she pulled every trick. "A gentleman would move out", etc. I bought the house before we married, so my response was "fuck you, i'm not leaving. You have plenty of friends. You move out".

The way divorce laws work in most states, ALL marital assets are split. It wouldn't matter if she bought the home 3 years before she met you in only her name. The equity built up through principal reduction and appreciation gets split between the two of you, as of the date you got married.
So, if she bought a $500K house and put $100K down on it, then you two got married, and at the time it was worth $600K and she owed $380K on it, that $220K equity is all hers, but any equity that builds up on top of that, is split.
So, if 5 years down the road the home is worth $1 million and she owes $300K on it, then you split the $480K equity ($700K current equity - $220K equity she had at the time of marriage) increase since you got married.
Doesn't even matter if you contributed to the mortgage payment or not. Just like housewives that make zero money, still get to split the marital assets with their husband.
I had to split my inheritance from my Great Aunt with my ex, because I got it while we were still married, even though she obviously had NOTHING to do with it.

My house, my car, the car I bought her, my bank accounts, my stocks, crypto, just everything of value. I own practically nothing on paper. So if she decides to dump me, she would get nothing in a divorce. Because I own nothing hehe. Best thing she doesn't know that. Just be smart guys and have a good relationship with your family. And this model has many more advantages in other places. And never make debts if possible but if you have to, debts should be the only thing registered to you. So if something happens you just own a bunch of debts and nothing else. I guess many of you can see by now the many options this model can give you.

My mother for years needs a magnifying glass to see writing, couldn't drive, glasses. But as she was getting older and I began to take care of her, I noticed she didn't get any state benefits for being blind. So I call up her doctor to get paper stating she needs the benefits. Read Florida legislation before you do anything. Don’t trust Canadians, and stay away from your “ex” without leaving your kids. Be cold, and polite; no arguments. Sleep in a way where you can physically protect yourself from attack or being accused of attack. Keep any plans about your post-divorce living arrangements to yourself until you have to share in court.
It will suck staying in the home, no doubt, but the demonstration of fortitude to all parties will pay benefits in the end. “No” is a complete sentence, and no further words are required: learn this, and use it. You nailed it!
She already knew this was where it was going long before you did.
She will keep the divorce going as long as she can to keep the drama going (if it works in her favour).
The drama already started when she wanted to get married.
Unfortunately, it probably even started before that.
Wise up men to who you trust your life with.

Happened to me. I witnessed every dirty trick in the book and eventually lost everything.
I’m in a much better place now and by the grace of God I have my own place and am rebuilding. Sure she got the family home, so I put this out to the universe and karma in the hope that she will eventually pay the price for what is basically legalised theft. But I won’t hold my breath because years later she seems to be happy as Larry. 🧐

Yep. Florida is horrible for men in divorce. I got thrown in jail on the fake dv charge to get me out of the house. She got greater than 50% of my 401. I got the house because she couldn’t pay for it but I couldn’t move back in until I paid 50% of all equity in everything we owned. Which knocked out the rest of my 401. I sold everything and moved out of Florida. Her debt load is zero as is her taxes. I paid 100% of everything including her lawyers.

I think you gave him a good advise. Mine is - while staying there - don`t eat anything she give to you or which can be poisoned. This applies to drinking too. Also is better to expect violent visitors and yourself to be recorded. So basicly act like you are always on camera and don`t say anything which you don`t want to be exposed.
If you see she wants you to get emotional - it is a trap, know it and the better way to act is to NOT be emotional. Often this causes the manipulator to get even more angry at you, just provoke her with short and smart triggering questions and back off.
And realise if you did not do something like cheating or as of this level of seriousness - she may be evil and she wants to take your staff, she don`t want to take responsibility, she is basicly ruining the family for HERSELF, so don`t give her comfort, give her discomfort by not playing on her plan.

Never leave your home and record every conversation and interaction to prevent false accusations and never leave your lap top out she may try to put stuff on there to F you up. And change all your passwords and for GOD sake keep your own separate savings account at a different bank without anyone's knowledge gentleman please be smart at all times and don't get caught slipping

When my ex told me she wanted a divorce, I told her that if she wants to leave then she can leave. So, she left. I kept the house, but I did have to buy her out.
