    again.. you go to wonderful length to do things best.. removing the radiator just to get that last remaining volume of coolant.. I'm curious as to why aluminum radiators are not preferred?

      I think maybe some qualify issues with the alloy ones, leaks where the plastic ends are and not as thermally conductive as copper.

    I guess now majority of your work on sprout is done but didn’t you find it expensive using those small bottles of gas on the mig? I bought a HobbyWeld5 bottle for mine which I think is a bit more economical and it’s big advantage was how long it lasted.
    Sprouts looking great, thanks for taking the time to make the videos.

      £ per Litre the HobbyWeld bottles are much cheaper but then the 220l bottles I used work out much cheaper than the 60l hobby bottles. I think I spent about £60 on gas.

    What an awesome and inspiring set of videos. Absolutely amazing work and I've learnt so much - thanks ever so much. One question though - what are your thoughts on self tapping screws for the grille surrounds? I hate putting them in and they never last. What have you done with sprout or what will you do?

    • @classicminiworkshop
      @classicminiworkshop  4 года назад

      I use large head stainless self tapping screws and I only do them just over finger tight to stop them enlarging the holes. I guess it would probably be better to use small riv nuts or something. I might look at doing that on Sprout

    I just shook when you took out that grinder and the sparkes went flying,and Sprout was 5 feet away with no cover on Keep up with the great videos.Any updates coming on Marks car?

      LOL, I was being a bit lazy really, should have moved it out while grinding and welding. I did direct the sparks at the wall LOL. Yes should be lots of updates coming on the ERA, obviously it's a bit difficult meeting to collect SD cards so Mark is posting them to me.

    Hi keith, having never owned a mini later then late eighties, just wondered if the cut out in the front panel, i presume for the electric fan, is standard? If so, it looks like one of those engine conversion minis where the all the components are shoe horned in.........bizarre 😉

    • @classicminiworkshop
      @classicminiworkshop  4 года назад

      Yes the MPI mini front panel is slightly different to accommodate the front mounted radiator

    Hello guys,
    How to remove the air inside of the system ? How to purge ?

    • @classicminiworkshop

      Run up the cap loose and the heater on hot until the thermostat opens

    Keith, you use copious amounts of brake cleaner where do you source it from or should I not ask lol. Really enjoy your content 👍

      @classicminiworkshop  4 года назад +1

      I buy 5l Polygard brake cleaner from e-bay. Its only £13 so not too expensive

    Just a question I’ve also got an mpi mini like yours..
    when draining and cleaning out the coolant system.. do you just remove one of the radiator pipes at the bottom of the radiator and then take the thermostat off.. “I’m going to replace with a new one” with a new gasket.” Will that empty most of the old coolant
    Flush it through with a hosepipe and then put it back together and then fill it back up with 50/50 coolant and its done?
    I’m a rookie so any advice will be greatly appreciated

    • @classicminiworkshop
      @classicminiworkshop  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, you can just disconnect the bottom hose but its also worth disconnecting the heater hoses and giving those pipes a flush through too

    Do you unscrew the gas bottle so you dont need to change the settings?

    • @classicminiworkshop
      @classicminiworkshop  4 года назад +1

      I'm paranoid about slight leaks from the regulator so when I know I'm not going to be using it again for weeks / months I just unscrew it. Good point though about keeping setting, I hadn't thought of that
