I want it for a very stupid reason, it's the watch that Tom Selleck wore in "Magnum PI" 😊
Raymond Reddington also.
Same reason I have it, watching the modern day Magnum PI
@@A_Brion I like the actor who plays in the new Magnum, but the writers were better in the 80's, and the fact that the star is now the British woman instead of Magnum sucks.
that‘s stupid indeed
Same.
The Ferrari and stache will complete the trifecta.
I just subscribed after the first minute of the video when Teddy laid out how he doesn’t make clickbait Rolex videos often, acknowledging the Rolex fatigue that is out there. That sincerity and empathy is rare, and he is definitely not doing what most other watch channels are in justifying the frequent inclusion of “Rolex” in the headlines in the name of improving the RUclips algorithm. Sure, that can then help get the word out for other content that the creators are really passionate about, but Teddy is sticking to his principles(and his audience) and just doing things his way, regardless of how it may affect his views. That is such a special combination of confidence and integrity.

Appreciate this comment, my friend. I bring up Rolex when I feel it is appropriate or if it helps with the framing of driving a point home but I also don't want to be the boy who cries wolf.
Feels like we also talk about Rolex do’s and don’t s marketing and AD / supply or culture wows as much or more than we talk about innovation or horology.
You leave watch finder out of this
My GMT ll has been with me around the globe for many years. This is one watch I will never sell, trade or leave my side, ever.
Teddy, just wanted to say I hugely appreciate sharing your take with us. Love how balanced your channel is and you give quality info for casuals and enthusiasts alike.
In this watch segment on RUclips, there is far too much clickbait, you're a breath of fresh air.
Plus, Teddy - you always win over Kevin when shopping for a collection. I think this "master vs grasshopper" idea of his is completely the other way around. :-D
I really appreciate this comment, my friend! Have a great rest of your Tuesday.
@@TeddyBaldassarre My pleasure Teddy, you absolutely deserve every bit of admiration we have for you. Not many people making videos about watch industry are that knowledgeable and pleasant to watch as you are. Thank you for what you are doing and please continue!
@@TeddyBaldassarre hi Teddy. Love the videos you put. I enjoy watching them and learning. What do you think of Revue Thommen watches.
@@TeddyBaldassarre i think the reason you're *clearly* more knowledgeable than kevin is because you do watches for a living. that is your expertise. for kevin, it's just a hobby. his expertise is finance, business and investment. he can't stay up-to-date on the watch world the way teddy can. but when you put the two of you together on-screen, it's magic.
Brilliant Teddy. I’ll add one more reason, a personal one: family history. My dad had a two-tone in the late 70s-80s. He moved it along at some point when I wasn’t paying attention. Probably my college years. In his mind, as a pilot, it was the ultimate watch. Great job!
Great video and content. I’m fortunate to own a Coke form 1998 and a Batman from 2016. They definitely have not strayed far from the original design cues. I fell in love with the Batman, and as a pilot I thought it brought a more appropriate colour-way to the bezel having blue for daytime sky and black for the night sky!
Agree!
I remember when I first got into watch collecting, the main watch that really captured my attention was the aluminum bezel rolex gmt. As I started collecting though that watch became more of a distant dream. Secondary market prices and disparity made this watch almost impossible to afford or find. After a while I purchased the tudor gmt and fell in love with that watch. Still though, this watch is beautiful and a true icon. Forever a grail
I feel the EXACT SAME WAY
I went out and bought the Tudor gmt when it came out in 2018 as well
Great review. I’m always amazed at how much information you pack into your quick cadence. Your pace always keeps my attention! Also appreciate your professionalism and attire. I’m old school and believe in sport coats and dress shirts. Lastly, I purchased the Pepsi after a nine month wait from my local AD. Quite frankly, I expected it to take longer and was surprised when it arrived, coincidentally, two weeks before my birthday. I bought mine on the Oyster bracelet, which, for me is the most classic and suitable selection for the GMT Master II. Cheers!
Totally agree, plus the GMT in my opinion started the whole grey market boost. The comfort is sublime and the iconic bezel with platinum inlay is such a remarkable eye catcher.
Great video! I started with Rolex like many, buying Submariners. I didn't think it got any better than the oyster bracelet with the glidelock clasp that comes on the Sub. But the GMT, on the jubilee, is the most comfortable Rolex available. The articulation on the GMT is way better and I don't miss the glidelock as the easylink offers plenty of adjustment on the fly.
Something most people don't mention is the case back, it's flatter on the GMT vs something like the Sub, and it wears even better on the wrist as a result.
Also, when putting my GMT and Sub side by side, I find the Sub's bezel to look a little retro and outdated. The GMTs bezel definitely has a more modern font and look to it.
Love this piece so much, my favorite in the collection, next to my first one which is the Sub. Still looking for a Panda though, I guess these 3 together makes it the perfect Rolex (sport) collection! Speedy, esp. with the new bracelet is awesome as well! Just got the new BB Pro, but you're right, thinking about GMT, there's no other watch that comes to the mind as fast.
Great video Teddy. I have a 1675 from 1965 with the Oyster bracelet with the hollow links. It may be stretched and it does rattle, but I think it is one of the most comfortable bracelets out there. Keep up the great content.
Anyone else appreciate how logical Teddys reviews are? Great insight as always Teddy keep these reviews coming!
I really have to give it to you. You and the Urban Gentry are probably the only two watch youtubers (and „just one more watch“but he has some different target group) that do not annoy me when making a video about Rolex. I actually really appreciated the video because it seems like you just hide Rolex a little bit under your cuffs rather than being loud about it. When you make a video about Rolex it really feels genuine.
I for myself always wanted a Rolex and I really long objected from buying one because of all the negative side effects to it but I just have to say Rolex makes great watches. I always kinda hide my Rolex when I am wearing it because I don’t want the attention but I still love wearing it because of the craftsmanship, history and so on.
Same goes with videos, I hate those bragging videos about Rolex but when it is genuine, well thought and grounded I really love it. Great input to some great watch!
100% agree teddy. I still appreciate other brands and am happy I’ve been introduced to other brands through you I would not have run across myself. Great video as always 🔥
I’ve worn both the Jubilee as well as the Oyster. I can say I’ll take the Jubilee bracelet all day long. It molds so well around your wrist that it’s not just the most comfortable, but the most practical. The oyster shows scratches too easily while the Jubilee disguises them.
Same, I regret swapping my jubilee pepsi for an oyster batman.
Agreed. I’ve been wearing a Submariner for years and just picked up a BLNR GMT today on a jubilee bracelet. It’s night and day for fitment.
Love your channel Teddy. I've learnt a lot, and really enjoy the way you go into detail, whilst keeping it interesting. Keep up the great work
The 16710 Red/Black is, and always will be my favorite. It was my first desire and first Rolex love. Not many were left on dealer shelves in 2008, but I found a Black one. I have by now acquired the other factory colors, but this will always remain my favorite.
I can confirm everything he said about the GMT. I was lucky enough to try one half a year ago, my first thought was wow this wears really slim. The lugs and height give it that impression, plus the jubilee makes it wear light and airy but still a feeling of quality.
Got my GMT Master ii Pepsi - 2 months ago, retail from an AD. I walked in 8 months ago and was asked by a totally newbie store clerk what I was looking for? I kinda scawffed at first but thought, what the hell. Told her what I wanted and gave my name and number.
I absolutely forgot about this interaction and consigned myself to this watch being a pipedream. So much so I went and purchased a Tag Monoco & Tudor BBay 58 with an order for a Cartier Santos.
Then out of the blue I get a text from Newbie clerk at AD letting me know my watch was IN!
I was blown away and have been just over the moon to wear this beautiful timepiece.
Does your new GMTs have anti reflective coating?
Completely agree - when one thinks of a GMT in steel with a Pepsi bezel there is only one your mind thinks of initially.... many other brands have emulated it at all manner of price points, but there is only one true reference - a Rolex GMT.
Very impressive knowledge, passion & fluency on ⌚️there is so much choice available today. 🙏😎
Great video Teddy, I recently picked up a GMT Master II 16760 on jubilee from 1987. I love it and is the first GMT Master II model and the first with the coke bezel. Keep up the great work with the videos!
Excellent video content and editing. And a great summary, history, of this incredible watch. I love mine even more now. Thank you. Subscribed.
Great video as always, Teddy.
The GMT Master II is definitely my favorite of the Rolex tool watches because it's the only one you can always get with some color. The plain black of the sub just doesn't do it for me. It feels too austere. Ditto for the Explorer and Air King, although I do admire the Explorer even though I'd never get one. I like my watches simple (time only, please), but not that blank of a canvas. I do, however, have one area of concern. I want a Coke bezel and I'd always have a voice in my head wondering if this is the year Rolex brings it back.
The good news is that I have a greater need for dress watches than sports watches in my life, so that's not something I need to worry about anytime soon.
Love ❤️ your videos. They’re the perfect balance of fact, history and opinion. Closing my eyes, I picture the BLNR which I also have been fortunate to purchase recently at retail. Stunning. Watch.
Veey true Teddy.
The Rolex Explorer II might be the closest thing to a luxury GMT alternative to the GMT Master II, but even then it's still a tool watch with a GMT hand slapped onto it.
Thank you for your amazing work Teddy. Regards from Malta 🇲🇹
I was very very fortunate to buy this exact watch from my AD at retail late last year, and it’s exquisite. I’m still in love with it and feel tremendously lucky to have it in my collection. Thank you Teddy for sharing your passion and helping me develop mine!
how much did you spend at the AD?
Hello, i have a question for you. Dont you find the red and blue a bit limiting in terms of your outfit? I have a submariner and since it's black I can wear it with everyting
@@TyrionDiessame and I want to add another watch to my collection , I’m looking at the root beer potentially
awesome content as always Teddy!
What a great and interesting take on the GMT, I agree with all of the refinements you have pointed out, as well as the history. As for me I really enjoy my 16710LN (good video on it btw), and love the comfort of it even on the oyster, but that jubilee simply looks great, I've hade mine since 2013 and have enjoyed every minute of it, just my two cents, thanks again Teddy!
Very thoughtful and informative video as always Teddy,, thank you. Over the past year, I have been unsuccessful in my search for a for a GMT II. I travel extensively for business and take the opportunity to visit watch retailers when possible. Since January I have visited 15 Rolex dealers nationally and internationally, and quoted 2 year wait times and huge mark-ups. However, hanks to your video, I will keep searching and with luck, I will find my watch.
Well done, Teddy . I agree 100% . The originality and history of the GMT stands for itself.
Another great video. A well thought out opinion on the GMT Master. I also appreciate how you truly try to showcase other brands besides Rolex.
Nice. Loved seeing you take a bit of a creative risk with the “close your eyes” segment. Keep pushing in the format big man 👍🏻
The only red/blue GMT that comes in at a distant second place is the Tudor version. And to be honest, that’s mainly because it looks like a vintage version of the Rolex Pepsi.
Great video, Teddy. Keep them coming.
Definitely agree with you, the gmt master 2 and the explorer are the only watches I see my self buying in the future. The gmt master 2 for the gmt function and the stunning bezel and the explorer because of how simple of a watch it is.keep up the great work
Excellent video as usual. Summed up my exact feelings towards this watch.
Great watch. Amazing how much they have increased in cost, and appreciated in value over the years. Nice review. Thanks.
Great video Teddy. I also love the GMT 2,although my particular preference is the Rolesor Rootbeer. Luckily my AD called me recently… it’s my grail watch. Keep up the great content. 👍🇬🇧
Great video. Agree with your 4 points, especially the last one. Thanks.
I have just purchased the GMT Batgirl, jubilee. I know people say on jubilee is should be a pepsi, and for the black/blue it should be on oyster. But for me, the batgirl is just a beautiful, sexy, sporty and yet refined watch. I love it! Great video, thanks for posting.
One of my favorite Rolex to be sure. The jubilee is the most comfortable bracelet I’ve ever worn, and I don’t like the brushed center links on the oyster. Well done Teddy, great vid!
It's a very nice homage of the Steinhart Ocean 39 GMT ceramic.
Well done Teddy. I really enjoy your channel would love to have this watch. I had an opportunity and passed as was a gift my mom wanted me to have my Datejust 41 fluted blue dial after my dad passed away. Thanks again for the great content!!
Have a BLNR on oyster - absolutely love it. So much more interesting than the 114060 I owned.
One could argue that Rolex defines all of the category of watches you mentioned. They may not always be the first to it, but they certainly excel in it.
Take the Daytona. Where else are you getting an automatic chronograph at ~12mm thick with a 100m WR and has the same pedigree? I’ll borrow your words, “it’s a masterclass of fit and finish” for the category. The 4130 in itself is possibly the most reliable auto chronograph ever built.
I agree with you on this watch, it's an icon, made popular to me by Magnum PI.....
Got this watch two weeks ago and it is incredible. Love everything about it. The AD made it a great experience so it was a wonderful way to end the buying part of this hobby for me.
Great analysis. Fully agree, esp. regarding the "no equal peer" category.
I never was initially drawn to this modle,, until a couple months ago my AD asked if I wanted to try one on. OMG, I instantly understood what all the hype was all about.....it is simply gorgeous. I immediately expressed my interest in the model!
After years of waiting, I got the call and can’t wait to finally pick this beautiful piece up from the AD next week.
Hi Teddy, great video as awlays! Just wonder whether this is Chris's watch? Haha
I just got a steel and gold one from my AD yesterday, not as desirable as all steel I know, but it shows it is possible to get them at cost. I was not keen on the pepsi due to the colour bleeding where the red and blue meet on the bezel.
how long did you wait
@@AtayMLG first question anyone asks
@@AtayMLG around 6 mouths, but over the last year I have built up a very good relationship with my AD. I retired around 12 months ago and didn't even have a watch. I went to my local AD (not so local its 100 miles away.) to talk about putting my name on the list for a steel and rose datejust 41 explaining exactly why I wanted that particular watch. Someone had turned down one that day and I was offered this, which of course I bought. From that moment I was hooked. Since then I have bought 3 watches, all different brands and styles, totalling around £7500. When buying then I explained to them the reason I wanted that specific watch and I always had my datejust on. It's all about getting that relationship, be honest and be patient. I just been incredibly lucky
Congrats Harry! That is a killer watch and I am glad to hear stories like this.
@@harrymc9263 Great to hear your story… mine is very similar. I also have just managed to secure a GMT Rolesor Rootbeer retail from my AD, after having secured a DateJust for my 60th birthday previously. No prior buy history, no silly games, just an honest chat with a very decent family business. Being upfront and transparent goes a long way imo. 👍🇬🇧
You’re hardly just a regular guy Teddy 😊 but respect for your knowledge for all the timepieces you talk about 👍
Hi Teddy
Even if I'm more the Speedmaster, Spirit, Sinn etc. type of watchguy, I'm also glad to have a Glycine Airman and a Combat Sub Bronze. These are great and very interesting watches that diserve to be mentioned more often... specialy in the maybe best watch channel of the world.
while i love watch content on youtube, this channel also has me coming back for teddys articulate and genuine ability to communicate his perspective.
Great episode ! Passionate and professional
I did play the close your eyes game 😅 Diver : Certina action diver (want one) Chrono : My black bay chrono
GMT : Fortis F-43 GMT (want one)
Great video Teddy 👏🏻
This was a really refreshing take. Thank you
Such a beautiful piece with so much history and as you said the Pepsi fully owns the space of GMT timepieces.
Thanks for the review. I just schedule my appt to place an order
Too true Teddy! Another great and informative video.
I love my GMT master 16700 with black bezel and oyster bracelet that I got from Bucherer in Zurich, Switzerland for $2400 in 1991 brand new. The best souvenir I got from Switzerland when I was only 15 years old at the time.
I like my gmt ii with the oyster bracelet, probably because I bought it new 30+ years ago and wore it nearly every day.
Great video Teddy! You're making me think I need to start the hunt again!
My guess for a definitive example of another category is the Explorer line as well for tool watches. The only major segment that I can think of that Rolex doesn’t dabble in are Pilot watches. Although the GMT is technically catagorized as an aviator’s watch
Teddy this is the first Rolex I was able to acquire. The journey to obtain this one is a great story that just adds so much to my connection and love for this watch. Anyways your video is amazing. I love how far you have come in your career. Your a natural and your sincerity and honesty comes through. Great content as always. A real pleasure to watch you.
Sir, could you be kind to share your anecdote with us? I really love this stories, that's why it makes watches unique.
The gmt is still my favorite complications. Looks good, super useful for me. I am in Hong Kong, one glance at my watch and I know the exact time in California and Vancouver, plus 2 hrs I know my family's time in the Midwest. And my gmt hand is set at London time, where I have family and friends at.
GMT is my go to complication when I go looking at watches. The other one would be the world time complication, but the dial is too messy. I like the GMT as the dial is more clean
Teddy you've built so much more than just a channel, congratulations.
Great watch. I personally like it with the Oyster bracelet. Think it's more fitting for a sporty watch but the polished center links spice things up a bit.
Great perspective which is unbiased and realistic . This watch is an icon and is arguable the standard for Gmt. In the industry . Love the aesthetic, functionality, and practically of this timepiece. I purchased this watch at my AD last year and I am delightfully happy with this purchase . The jubilee looks at home on this piece but I am on team oyster all day.
Congrats. And I agree on the oyster bracelet, I much prefer it
@@joshs3916 👍🏿
I bought my Pepsi from my AD in April (Tourneau / Bucherer) after about 3 years waiting. My first piece was a sea dweller after two years waiting followed by (2) Panerai’s (both boutique exclusives). THEN I got a Pepsi allocation. It was worth the wait AND I am happy with the hunt. Next up … I have an IWC Perpetual Cal Mojave Desert on order and am waiting for an allocation on the new 36mm explorer.
Thanks to Courtney I landed into ur channels I m into watches not possessive but yah upto some extent u r doing a great job keep it up gmt master II is looking dope.
Wonderful video, thank you.
Great reasons and I agree the GMT Master design is peerless. Thanks for sharing. My favourite model in their catalogue is the Submariner and this is largely due to the glidelock clasp.
Well put, that’s a reasonable perspective. By comparison, fit as nice an offering you get from Tudor for example, the proportions aren’t quite there. That isn’t to say Tudor’s GMT isn’t a good watch or value, but it’s lacking a few intangibles, little details that really make this special as well as out of my price range.
On a side note, Bell & Ross have a GMT, that in terms of proportions, it’s quite thin, has a domed sapphire Crystal,, it’s maybe a bit overlooked. It might be a bit expensive given it’s simply an ETA or Sellita inside, but likely reliable and a good value pre owned
Excellent video. Great points. I went with a Tudor gmt root beer.
Right to the point. But as I am fan of dual tone, I went with Guiness. Love it.
My lovely Wife bought me a Batman version of this watch in 2012 as a birthday present and I absolutely love it, I wear it most days.
I have been offered 3 times the original price by various watch shops where I live in the UK but I would never sell it.
By the way great video as always.
Teddy is there a difference between the 126710blro and the 126710BKSJ ? I was checking out a site and saw their both the pepsi setup/design yet model #'s are different. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Can’t wait getting mine this week 126710 BLNR. Oyster bracelet .. my last GMT was an early 2000. Share please what automatic winder should I use .I have also a OMEGA Planet ocean 600 chronograph with a 9900 caliber
Teddy you are a weapon with your watch interpretations for people in general.
You knocked this one out of the park Teddy! When I close my eyes and picture a GMT nothing but Rolex comes to mind! Great video
Great video and agree, but prefer it on the PCL bracelet 🙏
Great video Teddy! I’ve definitely got a soft spot for the Pepsi! ❤️
Amazing video. This is my favorite watch in my collection. It will leave me when I die, and It will go to my son....love it!
Teddy, “spot on” although I own a 70’s vintage Date just, I am not a Rolex fan. That being sad I am on a list at 2 AD’s for the Pepsi. BTW “the close your eyes “ was awesome.
Teddy is the goat. I could chill with teddy. Great guy and great channel. He is the reason why I am into watches. Fell in love with watches after seeing teddy's channel.
Teddy, I have been as a hobby for many years come across really cool chronographs that are manual. I have seen valjoux 7733, 7734, 7736 and Valjoux movements... Very cool and very complicated too. I own two 7734 watches at the moment which is the Gruen 770 Cal and the ZoDIAC 842-888. They seem to go up in price because of limited availability too. Have you owned models like this before and what do you think about them?
Nice review - fair and balanced.
Went to an AD a few days back, just to approach one…and I saw two : ! One with an Oyster bracelet and one with a Jubilee, both in Pepsi configuration. I prefer the oyster bracelet, making it look more for what it is : a tool watch. On my opinion, the jubilee is more convenient on a dress watch, like the Dayjust. Besides, it’s nearly impossible to get one : you have to wait at least 1 to 3 years… no wonder the secondary market works so well ! I was told that it would be easier to have one if I was already a Rolex customer ? Change my mind Teddy !
This video reminds me of the yesterday's Watchfinder video, in which they mentioned that they should talk about Rolex and put Rolex in the video title for the video to be available to most viewers and that's sad. Anyways Teddy can make a video about a piece of chalk and make it watchable and enjoyable. Kudos to you.
I have the last steel bezel.
Probably the best deal for a watch I have ever gotten because I have worn it more than 4000 times.
Although I hate the image Rolex conveys now, I am quite glad I got it.
As much as things have changed with the gmt2 from 18 years ago, I don’t have any desire to upgrade now nor in the foreseeable future.
I guessed that’s what timeless means.
great video!
Teddy is just right on this one, it’s my personal dream watch - maybe one day 😍🇺🇸🇬🇧🍻
Agree. I went with the Rootbeer. Personally my favorite Rolex back then and now in the current catalog. The case and 20mm lugs wear so well even on my 17cm wrist. When I close my eyes and think Rolex I see the Rootbeer and a fluted black DJ on jubilee.
Did you go TT or solid Gold?
@@joshs3916 two tone.... A lot more understated and versatile than you might expect. Not quite an everyday watch but I wear it a lot.
@@jeremydahm2124 Nice, all gold isn't exactly understated lol, Enjoy your gmt TT :)
Batman jubilee all the way.
@@silveriver9 I would definitely not pass on jube batman. Awesome
1:18 and I really really thank you for that and please don't start to. It's one of the main reasons I watch your channel. I own two Rolexes (including the updated GMT master II Batman on oyster) but honestly fatigued with all the undeserved hype and how hard it is for people to get one. I also don't really wear mine because I live in a major city and crime for them has become ridiculous to the point where I can't wear them without feeling like I'm wearing a sign on my back that says "pistol whip me and then rob me, please". I'm considering two things. Move from this major city where Rolex crime has become rampant, or sell both of them and enjoy other fine timepieces that are better than my Rolexes, less well known, and more understated. I'm lucky enough to have an honest local AD that I've been going to for a while. From personal experience, I can tell you that these are very very few and far between. This whole fiasco started because of the ridiculous grey market that shady ADs have created with flippers (which is about 90 percent of ADs when it comes to Rolex). So thank you, thank you ADs for creating this wonderful Rolex market for people to enjoy. This whole fiasco has really turned me off from the brand.
Great clarity
If I could buy today, Defy Extreme, GMT II or Omega DSoTM?
Great review of a great watch. Glad you could get one from an AD.
Awesome job!!
