I’m a Rolex fanboy, I own a couple and I suspect there’s more to join my collection, however, I will be the first to say their not perfect, but what they do do well, they do it perfectly, like their bracelets fit and finish, the robustness, durability, and reliability of their movements, the rich brand history, the status symbol that comes with it (which can sometimes be negative) and the fact that they’re so hard to acquire, it’s a joy to own even one. The places where Rolex falls a little short are just about everything Bruce mentions in this video, all I can live with.

Another fine video, keep up the great work. Just wanted to share a crazy day I had at an AD on March 31st. Walked in to check on what Rolex watches that were available. I struck up a conversation with the salesperson for about 20 minutes and out of the. Lie he said I’m going to make you a customer for like and went to the back and came out with a brand new Pepsi. $9700 I bought it on the spot. I asked why me, I’m sure you have several people that you could have called to pick up the watch. He said you seemed like a good guy. I’m still on cloud nine. A crazy day. You just never know.
Thanks for the review. The 2024 Pepsi has a darker duller red and blue color. Is there any way to swap the bezel with an earlier Pepsi without affecting the value? I can easily see the difference in color. Would it matter to someone waiting years to get one? Thanks
Wearing & enjoying my 42mm ceramic pepsi GMT Steinhart. Solid brand with respectable ETA or Sellita movements. Have owned Rolex & am a fan of the design & the brand, just not the hoops you have to go through to maybe, just maybe get on a waiting list. Life is just to short to bother with it. I remember when you could walk into an AD & walk out with a Rolex or Patek Nautilus & Aquanaut! I doubt if ever those days will ever return, certainly not at RRP prices.....
Excellent review. I think your comments on Rolex are pretty much spot on. Yes, Rolex isn't perfect and there are better finished and more complicated watches out there, but on balance--accuracy, ruggedness, style, value retention, and brand cache--I don't see any brand better than Rolex. Although many hater's won't admit it, much of the hate is just sour grapes over not being able to buy one on demand from the AD because demand far outstrips supply. And, I don't blame Rolex for deciding they are not going to get caught up in market ups and downs and risk over producing watches in a down market and hurting their brand. You, perhaps rightly, did not mention the other knock on Rolex--many people who buy them are neouveau riche loud mouths trying to show off. That, of course, is a whole other topic. I'm not a Rolex apologist, but I do think people need to maintain some perspective. Once again, a well balanced review.
Very well articulated. I too am I huge Rolex fan. I own an AP, Omega, Vacheron, Tudor and other cheaper watches. For me the top brands are still Rolex, Tudor and Seiko. Despite thinking my Royal Oak is the most beautiful looking watch ever made
I'm a Timex guy, but I do love Rolex videos. Don't want to own one, but I love how the Pepsi looks. Luckily Timex made the Q Timex with the same bezel. Love that watch.
Great video Bruce, thanks for sharing. Think you're spot on with everything except I actually think the Rolex movement is pretty good looking I mean is it as beautiful as your VC? Obviously not even close. But in an industrial way, I find it appealing.
I got the opportunity to pick one of these up from my AD and passed on it. I much prefer the BLNR model. I’m not a fan of the hue of the blue on the BLRO. I do think the jubilee bracelet is just fantastic though. It really pops!
Fair assessment Bruce. As a former exclusive Rolex owner the problem I have now is that, whilst they do still make some great watches, they carry such a burden of vulgarity that I refuse to buy another now.
The right Day Date 36 or DJ 36 with a faded Lacoste and some canvas Tretorns can still be just the right amount of classy, but otherwise I am sadly in complete agreement.
As an airline pilot I love the historical significance of the “Pepsi” within the airline industry. Is it my favorite color combo? No, but I love this watch for the same reason I love the Moonwatch. Nostalgia for a time I’ve never lived in. Men of significance wore these and it gives us all a piece of that history. These are pieces you can pass on to your children and their children.
Great video. I enjoyed the comparison against the Submariner as I have the same model. I had to laugh at you pointing out the quality issue on the dial of the Rolex and showing the Omega as a comparison which has a blob of red paint at the 6oclock marker 🤣
Great looking watch! I would want to own one but I personally find it too flashy. I wished they offered the oyster bracelet with glidelock, I would be willing to wait to get one. For now I will just continue to enjoy my Submariner 116610ln like I have been for the past 6 years and worn daily.
Had a 116610ln and loved it! Wanted something crazy, so bought the 126660 Deep Sea with Black Dial - like a tank wearing a tuxedo, tough...yet classy! Enjoy!
Rolex offers the perfect mix of luxury, affordability, quality style and brand. That is what they do so well. There are others that are cheaper, more stylish, more luxurious, higher quality and a more exclusive brand but they don't do all of these categories at the same time as well as Rolex.
Rolex for decades they have held value pretty well and now even more. They are amazing pieces, is like you’re getting paid to wear it because of the immediate equity.
@@andygregory2145 A steel Daytona and GMT’s have gone up in value. But this is all gray market value which is subjective to supply as well. The vast majority of those who hate the brand don’t have one because they can’t get one. It’s a curious thing. I can’t afford a Bentley but I’m not angry at Bentley about that. It’s a different story in watches for some bizarre reason 🤷🏻
Great video and Intro. I don't own a Rolex but do like their products (they are great). My only gripe is I can't get the one I want at an AD at MSRP (I would love too and would actually wear/keep the watch long term, and I have spent more than enough to get an OP and probably a Sub at MSRP). There doesn't seem to be a "fair" way for the everyday person to buy one if they want to as the AD tend to sell to "reserve stock" to those who spend the most which also tend to be the same people buying/selling immediately to grey market dealers with no intent to own/wear the watch they buy. Maybe one day I can get a Rolex I want at an AD.
Best watch brand in the world because they do everything well instead of focusing on doing one or two things well. In most instances regarding sports watches they are the original while everyone else is just trying to look like them.
Great video. Awesome close-ups of the watch. I am not a Rolex fanboy and do not own one. But, I do respect what they have done. This Pepsi GMT is a classic timepiece. I had a summer job hauling people's unwanted items from their homes and this one guy--who was a former astronaut--had a Pepsi GMT. I just kept staring at it while he showed my stepdad and me what he wanted hauled away. It was the same watch that Thomas Magnum wore on "Magnum P.I." Even though TV series had long been cancelled by then I watched the reruns regularly. The Pepsi fell off of my radar screen and by the time I looked into getting one the prices were so far out of my price range. Sadly, I do not think I will ever be able to get one. So now, I am currently modding a Seiko to make it a facsimile of the much-admired original. No, definitely not the same thing. But, it looks fantastic and at 5% of MSRP, I'm diggin' it.
I love the Pepsi. Rolex is desirable as a brand, but more-so because so many are actually produced, you end up seeing more people wearing them. People want what they can't have. Same can be said about Omega of course, but everyone knows you can just walk into a dealer and buy a Seamaster.
well, I guess I am in the middle then. Neither i have a Rolex but I love it as a company and what they do. I also like AP coz they signed Sachin and Messi
Sadly, Rolex over the last 5-7 years has officially become a commodity for trading. Speculators and new watch folks coming into the market realized this, and proceeded to purchase these models to artificially shrink supply and drive pricing up. You'd think it's already enough for people to drop $10K on a nice watch, but now (thanks to things like the stock market at all time highs), more people have disposable cash, and where else to put that money than luxury goods (even in a pandemic), real estate, etc. It's really more than just one issue here, there are several factors driving this Rolex situation, and sadly we're past the point of no return I feel. So get on that wait list for 2-3 years, or purchase grey at 100% markup, since those are the only two choices it seems.
I think they've also become a way to move wealth around outside the country. Someone once told me if you put on a gold green dial Daytona, you're all set.
If you’re a new client, you’ll need to spend a lot for them to consider you (unless you’re really lucky and they really like you) In that case, better to just pay grey market prices. Cheaper and less time consuming than buying shit just for them to consider you.
Say what you want about Rolex but that Pepsi is awesome and even looks better in real life. The fact it’s not available makes it even more desirable...but only at retail. Now that it’s available on the oyster bracelet again makes it the perfect sports watch.
I think the GMT master ii is great. One thing I'm curious about, can you just switch out the bezels on these, so that you can wear whatever color you want with 1 watch? Or is that just something that's frowned upon and you are not supposed to mess with? I was thinking it would be cool to get just one, but get Pepsi, Batman, Sprite, Root Beer bezels and switch them around from time to time.
Yeah but Bruce would you pay $19-20k for it after market to get it. That’s where I’m at bc my ad is all over the place with even getting me a black sub. Said 6 months but it seems like now it’s all up in the air.... it’s been 4 months. Idk If that’s like that how am I ever going to get a Pepsi then...?! That’s why I’m debating on getting one from a Gray market dealer.
Nice homage of my Cronos....if a little on the steep side. Seriously though....it's actually not an insane price for what is, in my opinion a beautiful Rolex. I thought they were double this price...plus change.
I was going to purchase a ticket to the London watch show but then the realisation hit me that even if I viewed a Rolex and fell in love with it, being a normal customer I could never find a dealer who would sell me one .
And on IG lol how many buckets and briefcases full of hulks and Daytona’s do we see everyday... rolex is loosing its luster everyday. Wealthy gift watch. A high end gift for a woman. That’s about it at retail. Never pay overs for a mass produced product. “Luxury” or not lol
@@Wooooosaaaaaa theyre hyped. if those watches had been sold to someone who enjoyed it instead of flipping it then people would stop buying to just flip.
@@MT-kx2uc it's a game to get one for sure. But the watches are good. And if there wasn't a game, value retention would collapse and that would make them less affordable depending on how you manage your momey.
Agree. Initially i wanted the blro as i find it looks beautiful with the red and blue bezel.. but after trying the pepsi and the batgirl at my ad, i chose the Batgirl..
Great review! I love the watch but am really interested in the movement. Is it really that much different to an ETA on performance, service cost etc.. I get it is better but as a full package, find a disproportionate value that comes with the brand and then some, for a manufactured movement.
Hi Bruce, I do neither love nor hate Rolex and their watches are well built, no doubt. But do you want to feel like a supplicant when you are willing to spend thousands of $ or €? I do not and I guess there are a number of other brands that do value you as a customer. BR Uwe
I love Rolex just as much as I love Omega or any other brand with a rich and varied history. I hate the hype though. I feel like I'm in the majority when it comes to both of those opinions.
I’m a 1675/0 fan. The case, with its slim profile, warm matte dial, and plexiglass crystal are so much appealing to me than the flat sapphire crystal and ceramic bezel. That flashy look screams ‘new expensive watch here!’. I’d only buy one if I had the opportunity to get it at retail; rather unlikely.
They’re still the kings and Omega just can’t compete on a branding level. Omega also have lots of QC issues when you watch the macro videos. Only GS seem to be more consistent
I like the Yacht Master which I bought. I also like the Day Date which I might get at some point. Apart from that I don’t really care for the GMT/Sub/Daytona.
Side by side, the Hulk looks the star of the show. If anything, this video has put me off the Pepsi for good, it’s way too blingy for my liking. Finally I’d just like to add my biggest annoyance with Rolex sports watches, they should ALL have the glidelock clasp, period. 🤬
I think I'm at the point in my watch enthusiast journey where I'm back to appreciating Rolex, after thinking they're simply overpriced status symbols for a few years 😂
Well, first, let's understand Rolex is not Haut Horology. People needs to understand this. We love Rolex because it's a great tool watch company with historic designs, and great materials.
I'm hoping for 2025 they slim the lugs down, AR coating on the inside like they do with the new Submariner, and a mini glidelock clasp like they've done with the Daytona Oysterflex would make this watch perfect.

So now, I am currently modding a Seiko to make it a facsimile of the much-admired original. No, definitely not the same thing. But, it looks fantastic and at 5% of MSRP, I'm diggin' it.
Just get a repo. There are some insane repos of it for about 500 bucks or less that look basically identical to the original.
'Made by Angels in Heaven'
Maaan I loved it
you think that's hard to get? try getting the white gold, meteorite dial version...
Truth
Love it. Thanks Bruce, nice video.
Very nice watch bet they go for good money
I love the Pepsi. Rolex is desirable as a brand, but more-so because so many are actually produced, you end up seeing more people wearing them. People want what they can't have. Same can be said about Omega of course, but everyone knows you can just walk into a dealer and buy a Seamaster.
New Sub41s have an AR coating.. good video.
Great video! GRNR or BLRO?
Really love this review, such an accurate view of this watch. Its a beauty!
well, I guess I am in the middle then. Neither i have a Rolex but I love it as a company and what they do. I also like AP coz they signed Sachin and Messi
7:58 *Chronergy (not "Chron Energy") ;)
Ive got the Pepsi on my list not sure if i will ever see one from the AD time will tell
If you’re a new client, you’ll need to spend a lot for them to consider you (unless you’re really lucky and they really like you)
In that case, better to just pay grey market prices. Cheaper and less time consuming than buying shit just for them to consider you.

Hi Bruce, I like the watch. what is the daily accuracy on the hulk?
Say what you want about Rolex but that Pepsi is awesome and even looks better in real life. The fact it’s not available makes it even more desirable...but only at retail. Now that it’s available on the oyster bracelet again makes it the perfect sports watch.
I like every bit of it, except the current market prices.
I like Rolex and I only own a DJ.. I can see how people can hate but they make a great watch.
Not a fan of the GMT myself but for that money there are so many options
Excellent video
I hopefully can pick mine up soon, it’s been laying in the safe of the ad since December.
Nice homage of my Cronos....if a little on the steep side. Seriously though....it's actually not an insane price for what is, in my opinion a beautiful Rolex. I thought they were double this price...plus change.
I just got the Cronos homage to this and it's fantastic. The quality is very good and the ceramic bezel colours are beautiful.
I can't decide which I like most - this or the Root Beer! The more I see images of this, it edges out the Root Beer.
The Root Beer colors don’t match and it’s too bland.
@@vika0194 To each their own!
I was going to purchase a ticket to the London watch show but then the realisation hit me that even if I viewed a Rolex and fell in love with it, being a normal customer I could never find a dealer who would sell me one .
It’s possible. It’s my next watch. Saw my AD on Saturday
They’re a dime a dozen in the diamond district in nyc
Yes. For double retail 😫😫😫
Thanks to the ADs selling to flippers
How the hell are there rolex haters really? Yeah it's a mass produced product, but for their price... its a great product.
@@MT-kx2uc it's a game to get one for sure. But the watches are good. And if there wasn't a game, value retention would collapse and that would make them less affordable depending on how you manage your momey.
Still prefer the BLNR jubilee ( I think it has a more subtle combo) ...
In the end, yes, but most of us who can only dream about owning a GMT II always lust for the BLRO.
I agree, I would not change my Batman for the Pepsi.
Love it . Iconic is overused in my opinion . However this is truly iconic
would love to buy rolex hulk.. let me know if you have it
such an inspiring video
It’s really the only gmt id care to own . A perfect piece .
Love this watch
They’re still the kings and Omega just can’t compete on a branding level. Omega also have lots of QC issues when you watch the macro videos. Only GS seem to be more consistent
Let's be honest every one loves and wants a Rolly Polly irrespective of what they may say.
Pepsi is a very very good watch, but Rolex market is tooooo high for now .
It's another 25% higher now ;)
I like the Yacht Master which I bought. I also like the Day Date which I might get at some point.
Apart from that I don’t really care for the GMT/Sub/Daytona.
Do you ride a yacht ?
Beautiful watch.
Side by side, the Hulk looks the star of the show. If anything, this video has put me off the Pepsi for good, it’s way too blingy for my liking.
Finally I’d just like to add my biggest annoyance with Rolex sports watches, they should ALL have the glidelock clasp, period. 🤬
Agree that all should have glide lock clasps.
Ive got both. Glidelock is certainly more convenient, but it's huge. I have a 7.25" wrist and it's just too big.
I think I'm at the point in my watch enthusiast journey where I'm back to appreciating Rolex, after thinking they're simply overpriced status symbols for a few years 😂
Welcome back!
damn that hulk is so nice
cool video
A GMT is the only Rolex I would want. I prefer the BLNR but I wouldn't say no to a Pepsi :D
Bruce is doing a Great Job.!!!
I hate that I love the Pepsi so much. Why couldn't the hype have missed this one so I could have one via reasonable means?
Well, first, let's understand Rolex is not Haut Horology. People needs to understand this. We love Rolex because it's a great tool watch company with historic designs, and great materials.
I'm hoping for 2025 they slim the lugs down, AR coating on the inside like they do with the new Submariner, and a mini glidelock clasp like they've done with the Daytona Oysterflex would make this watch perfect.
