The Liberty Quadruple covering her was HILARIOUS!! Her begging for the ball in garbage time is absolutely shameful. What an embarassment.
Its embarrassing as if the goal is not to win the game in the right way.. this was degrading in the spirit of the sports
And shame on her coach for keeping her "star" player on the court when the game is already over just to extend a meaningless streak, when she already has the record. A coach and team with the right values would not have been doing this.
She got that Clark treatment only difference is Clark still was putting up numbers with defense priorities was to stop Clark.
CC got her triple-double rookie record last week against the Liberty so I wonder if they were at least a little bit motivated to NOT give up another record to another rookie this week.

Do you know how ridiculous it is to have a “streak” which involves only getting a fifth basket in a game? She had 8 points. The Sky were down by 13-15 points. I watched the end of this and she is so childish, demanding the ball and so forth. I’m not a hater- she’s a heck of a rebounder and she was a steal to be picked at 7th. But this supposed streak is or was dumb.
You don't play basketball, you couldn't get 10 at a pickup game at the park. It's hard to to do especially in the paint on a professional level as a rookie

Which one??? She has 2/3 of those every game, no basketball skill except knowing that her shots are missing short so she’s in position for the off rebound. She is an average def rebounder, CC has almost the same amount of def rebounds (the most of any guard in the league), has more blocks (the most of any guard in the league), is second in the league in assists (until the next game at this pace). Please!!!
Hey Mick! Angel reeses biggest flaw is that she cant handle adversity. She cries and screams like a child when she doesnt get her way. Its so clear that Angel reese needs to work on all aspects of her game and mature before she can take that next step. Begging for the ball to get to ten points at the end of the game again is showing rhe whole world she isnt anywhere near the player the media makes her out to be.

I'm questioning the Sky coach. Why is she forcing the ball into Reese for the final 5 minutes of that game when she's shooting 3-13? Even the coach cares more about Reese's personal success than winning the game

Carter was dumb for that cheap shot to Clark, earlier in the season, but props to her for saying naw to the nonsense the last 2 games.
Carter might have a few screws loose but she can ball her butt off and was never handed anything in the W, so she wasnt for this stat padding BS....
This is also a big difference between Clark & Reese. Caitlin is trying to help the team win and Reese is just trying to pad her individual stats.
It was the only thing she has been playing for. Only thing she has been desperately hanging on to. She will likely suffer from a sense self identity. I honestly believe that. Because without that DD blanket, who is she? The pedestal has been taken away and she will have to stand from here on out. I know she'll continue playing but only time will tell how well that plays out. I wish her luck too. Hopefully she can work on other skillsets of her game because 4ft shots, 8in vertical, and sloppy movements won't last long. She contributed to that loss

I've been saying this. Angel is NOT a "COMPLETE" basketball player. She can do ONE THING really good, because she wants the rebound more than the other women. But Caitlin can do "EVERYTHING." Clearly Caitlin is the ROTY.

Yes she can get her own rebounds really well. You would think that for someone who takes ALL of her shots in the paint, she’d make more baskets than she does. Hence the NEED for her to get her own rebounds.

It's all about her. CC is top 20 in the 5 important metrics. Points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. And...she leads the league in Most Points Scored or Assisted On...not just rookies. CC is the most important player in the WNBA both as a complete player and financially.

Look at the stat lines for Caitlin vs. Reese at this point of the season. It's not even close. It's not only on paper that Clark is so much better, but just watching them play, you can SEE Caitlin is a far better and more complete player.
How Reese acts, says everything you need to know about her. She is so focused on herself, it's embarrassing. Reese deserves the disdain fans are giving her.
Respect to the Mystics for actually playing and not pandering to the fraudulent importance of that record.
Mick, don't give Reese credit she does not deserve. One of the main points against Clark is her turnovers. Yes, she has a lot. But she does so well in other areas and is clearly the most impactful player on her team. Reese's shooting is horrible. Her shots come from under the basket and her FG% is WORSE than Caitlin's who is taking shots much further out and often contested. Almost a third of her rebounds are because of her horrible shooting in which she is right under the basket and grabbing her own misses. To me, Reese's misses to rebounds is the same thing as Clark's turnovers to assists. In terms of ROTY honors, it's a wash to me.
Now compare. It's not even a close contest. Caitlin scores more points by a good margin. She gets a ton more assists. Clark is a floor general that has taken over her team and leading them to wins. Reese is not that. Clark is a point guard to Reese post player and Caitlin still averages more blocked shots. Clark averages more steals. Oh, and you know what? Clark can also rebound. Her numbers aren't at Reese's, but considering Reese hangs out under the rim and Caitlin doesn't, Clark gets a lot of rebounds, too. Yeah, not even a close contest for ROTY. The gap is only going to widen in the second half of the season and people are going to feel dumb for even thinking Reese could have won the ROTY award.
Clark is no doubt Roy I admit that as a Reese but dude this is not healthy 😂

Domantis Sabonis had 53 consecutive double doubles last year in the NBA and didn't make the all star game. Nobody who actually has a working knowledge of basketball puts any significance on double double streaks.
The WNBA and ESPN had to play it up to make Reese relevant otherwise CC would've left her in the dust, which she did anyways. 🤭

Finally a serious team that took pride in saying ‘not on our watch’.
Given her hideous shooting within 5 feet of the basket -- 5/17 & 3/13 respectively the last two games, I've come to the conclusion that a double-double in points and rebounds is simply a quite easy feat for a pro and should not be remotely considered remarkable.
She had multiple opportunities to get that last bucket. 😂

Thought I saw that 6 of her rebounds were from her own missed layups. If she'd have just made 2 of those 6, she'd have been to at least 10 points

Rebounds are also not as valuable of a stat as assists are. Assists mean points were scored. Rebounds do not

How are rebounds counted? Because she misses so many shots, she rebounds her own misses. Does every time she tries and misses a shot count? For example, she shoots and misses and rebounds her own missed shot, misses the shot again and rebounds, does it again before it finally goes in. Is that 3 rebounds?
You don’t need to always mention that AR is a really good player because she isn’t.
The whole streak was a farce, it wasn’t organic and now we won’t appreciate the previous holder of the record, but more importantly, it has stunted the growth of cardosa and Chenedy carter even marina because all eyes on 10-10. They were 6-9 in that streak. Not good for the sport and the team at all.
Hopefully now they can run some real sets and she can improve on her assists if she commands attention in the paint, get some wins and secure a playoff spots.
CC’s game boosted her teammates numbers and now they’re all-stars. Spread the love Angel, there’s still games left in the season, get some blocks and maybe next season you get a smoother jump shot
You keep saying "Angel Reese is a brilliant defender!" She is a joke as a defender. She has far less blocks and steals than CC. Players like Nneka, Napheesa, Aja, and Breanna score on her like she isn't even there!

The "calling for the ball" is the least of her stat padding. Most of her rebounds are from her own missed shot. Caitlin mostly shoots from the outside so her getting her own rebound isn't likely. Almost all of Reese's shots are 4ft and in so she is right there for the rebound. Caitlin leads her in almost everything except rebounds, but she still gets her fair share of those. All those misses just shows me she gets frazzled with the competition. She should be passing that ball to the girls waiting to take a 3. Caitlin effects like five aspects of the game while Reese effects 2. There isn't any metric you can show me that supports Reese's claim to ROTY. Turnovers are a thing i admit but let's look at them in context. She is trying to get her pathetic team the ball and they are just now, in the last 5-6 games, been doing better at catching the ball. Think how her stats would look with a competent team around her that can catch a pass and then convert it to points. Holy hell wouldn't that be fun to see?

poor sportsmanship. I don't know what stat padding is, unless it's deliberate missing to gain a rebound. I just think TRYING when everyone else has made a tacit agreement to run the clock is "bad sportsmanship." If everyone is still PLAYING HARD, it would ok. You're risking an injury to the other team to get your record - if she shot a 3, I wouldn't care as much, at all.

I'm so happy this streak is over. Not that I have anything against AR at all. But I was tired of the elbows to team mates to get rebounds. Cardosa not being in the painton offensive RB, just to give AR a chance (and still get double doubles herself) and the team feeding AR passes that she was outmatched to make in the paint when she has one of the worst made shot % in the league.
I am just waiting for AR fans to go after Allen on not continuing to feed her those last seconds. Any other team or player would have dribbled the time out as well, it's good sportsmanship and gives a nod to the other team for besting you.
AR got her one chance at the end and couldn't make it happen. And if she made any of her other 13 missed points in the rest of the game this wouldnt have been an issue... I'm tired of seeing AR only really try when it benefits her Stat line. Half the game she was walking or not posting up. Until she realized her streak was in danger. Then she stepped on the gas, but the Liberty wasn't allowing her to make the easy baskets. And she got sloppy woth fouling.
She'll continue to make double doubles but yeah. Now they can focus on winning again instead of marketing for ROTY

Angel Reese is one of the dirtiest player in the WNBA. Her streak was crafted by Chicago and their opponents. Ban them for life for fixing games like they did Shoeless Joe.
Just going to say during her so called amazing streak the team went 6-9(6-10) if you want to count today. During her streak she shot 40% or less in 10 of them and 30% or less in 6 of them.
Only 5 of her last 16 games would I call above average to good.
Mick you obviously haven’t really looked at the stats, she had 10 games of the streak where she only had 10-11 points or rebounds.
Finally the players of NY Liberty had enough of the double-double mockery of Angel Reese.
Wilt Chamberlain had 227 DD's in a row...almost never mentioned.
He's been dead for a while and most here weren't even alive when he played.

I have a sneaking suspicion 10-15 games from now, the ROTY will be all but decided, Angel Reese won't even be remotely close and we'll be able to look back and draw a direct line to the Streak* (and the blatant stat padding) being what ultimately ended her contention for the ROTY. Of all the things people think, bad or good, about Angel Reese, there are two things about her that seem pretty undeniable: she's an amazing rebounder and she craves attention and recognition. Nothing has gotten her more attention and recognition than the Streak* and I just have a hunch the streak ending will not change her belief that she has to get double doubles every game to reclaim the attention and recognition of the Streak* .... especially if CC continues to play remotely close to the way she's been playing (and doesn't get injured) which will just add more pressure for Angel to get the stats.
On top of that, the blatant attempts at stat padding to artificially extend the Streak* clearly doesn't sit well with all of the WNBA players, evidenced by the Liberty today (even if some players seemed to help her get her stats before today). So there will be a combination of more pressure from CC's success, the burning desire to regain all the attention and recognition from how much was made by the media about the Streak*, and a lot her opponents starting to give Angel the same "my personal mission today is to stop you above all else" kind of defensive effort CC has gotten in every game since day one. I think she will continue to struggle like the last 4 games for most of the rest of the season.
She's the WNBA's Rodman (which is amazing on it's own), so she'll still get loads of rebounds and occasionally her layups will fall at a percentage higher than 30%, but I think this Streak* has ruined her for the season. While CC has gained a lot of vet respect (no doubt started from Taurasi's public praise signalling to the league that it's ok now to give Clark some respect), I think Angel's blatant stat padding for the Streak* has lost her a lot of vet respect and it will show how a lot of players will start defending her harder.
It's just a prediction, I guess time will tell, but there's no doubt she'll still be good for 10+ rebounds in most games. She's obviously still a valuable player, but I just feel flirting with a double double (and probably getting it most games) will be her new norm, not 20+/10+ kind of games.

When you say it’s getting harder to make a good faith argument for AR, it’s a conclusion you could’ve reached a month ago, when the ROTY combo started. Like desperately trying to get to 10 points?
