    What are your thoughts about this camera? Did Fujifilm make a mistake with the PASM dial?

      Congratulations on becoming an X-Photographer :)
      I prefer direct controls operationally and aesthetically, but I think it was a smart move by Fuji to bridge older SLR people over, or young people who are accustomed to using the family superzoom. It's still a very nice looking machine compared with Sony/Nikon etc.

      I have a XT30. Only passed on the XS10 because $300+ at the time I was buying.
      Thought the smaller grip would be an issue, but isn’t. Disabled the Q button and remapped it to AEL to solve that minor annoyance.
      XT30 with ‘charcoal dark’ grey looks cheap, IMO.

I've ordered one to replace my recently sold X-T2. Had the X-T2 for 4 years and loved it, however the X-S10 is much better suited to my needs than the X-T2. Such a good point at 9:31, the lack of ability to program video centric settings on the C1-C4 slots. That could be solved via updates, right? Or has Fujifilm already delivered???

  • @Nessunego
    @Nessunego 3 года назад +1

    With X-S10 you can set a custom mode C1 to C4 by simply rotanting the pasm wheel. In those custom modes you can save a lot of parameters that you cannot save in any other Fujifilm camera, such as aperture, speed, autofocus mode, type of shutter, drive mode, photography mode (aperture priority, manual, speed priority), face/eye detect and many more. Imagine how fast it can be to customize this camera and changing from settings you use inside the church to settings you use outside the church by simply turning one single wheel. It is the ultimate event photographers' Fujifilm camera.

    • @Reggiebphoto
      @Reggiebphoto  3 года назад

      Changing the settings between inside and outside the church actually isn’t a difficult thing at all in manual exposure.

    • @Nessunego
      @Nessunego 3 года назад +1

      @@Reggiebphoto Maybe inside church in low light you are using single point af-s as the people are mainly stuck in place and af-c struggles in low-light, maybe you are using single shot drive mode, moreover you are probably using mechanical shutter to avoid banding due to artificial light and avoiding face and eye autofocus as with many faces one near the other you don't trust face recognition and suddently you have to exit outiside, you probably prefer burst mode, af-c with area tracking, face/eye af, electronic shutter. Those are all things you have to change one by one if you don't have C1-C4 with everything saved together.

    I had the x-t20 in the beginning but, because of no IBIS, I had to get expensive Fuji glass or pray. The X-S10 was the cheapest of the line that had IBIS thus making it the most valuable Fuji camera for folks whose pockets were not so deep. And I have had absolutely amazing results. The PASM dial was easy to get used to. it also made the jump to the X-H2 much easier since the system is basically the same.
    The compact size, even with larger lenses, because of the grip, is why I still cherish this camera. The images are absolutely stunning.!

    So on the xt3 and x100v, to use the front command for iOS and the rear for SS, is there a setting on the manual controls that allows that shifts control to the command wheels, or does the wheel "override" the manual setting?

      its in the button/dial menu. for the xt3 you have to change auto iso to "command" then set the front command dial to iso. for the x100v, set the iso dial to c and then the front command dial to iso.

Many times I would shoot with my non IBIS X-T2 in low light with the kit lens and have to bump up the ISO to get a reasonable shot as I could not shoot hand held below about 1/30 sec. I loved my X-T2 and in a lot of ways I will miss it but I see the X-S10 as close to the perfect camera for me right now. I should receive my X-S10 early next week. Had shortlisted the A6400 and the X-T200, but inclined towards the X-S10 since it packs a lot more punch for the extra $300. From what I know, the a6600 can't film in 10bit 4:2:2. The x-s10 however can do it via an extarnal Recorder. In my opinion the only real advantage of the a6600 is the Autofokus and the big Z Battery. Everything else is kind of better or the same on the x-s10(USB-C, IBIS etc..). In terms of photography I can't say a lot about it.(Hope this comment was helpfull)

  • @SwitchbackGuitars
    @SwitchbackGuitars 3 года назад +1

    I love this camera but the control limitations have me thinking hard about the XT4.
    The lack of full-customization of all the controls in all modes is the big one. You’re stuck with shutter speed being on the rear dial in one shooting mode and the front dial in another, for example.
    But also - auto ISO in movie mode, there’s no min/max/ss settings. Not sure if that’s different in the XT4 but it’s annoying.
    The lack of custom movie modes - even if they were accessible on-screen only, and the C1-C4 on the mode dial remained stills-only, seems a no-brainer.
    There’s no full factory reset option. Would be nice on a camera with so many modes and deep menu options.
    When you hit the movie record button in one of the stills modes, your exposure settings go out the window and it just becomes Auto. And there’s no indication what the shutter speed is, it ignores your ISO settings etc.
    When in full movie mode, it would be nice if when you’re in auto ISO and then want to adjust the iso, that the selection would start at wherever the iso currently sits. But instead it makes you scroll from the bottom (auto). For example if you’re in auto iso and it’s currently sitting at 3200 and you want to lock it at 1600, you hit the iso button, and you have to scroll up through 160 to 1600.
    On the bright side the image quality is fantastic. It’s so small but the deep grip makes it super easy to hold securely. The IBIS and autofocus are both really, really decent. Lots of reasons to like this camera, especially for the price.

    • @Reggiebphoto

      @Reggiebphoto  3 года назад +1

      yes, but even the x-t3 has single card record. i'm always on the fence with backups because photo and video backups to two slots is a fairly newer technology. back in the day I used to use external hard drive/sd card readers to backup photos on site.
