Hi Reggie. Great well balanced video. I love your style and honesty in your reviews. Here's a vote for a video showing your settings for the X-S10. I've ordered one to replace my recently sold X-T2. Thanks, Reggie, great presentation! This will be my first non point and shoot camera (Sony and Canon so far), and first Fujifilm. Still deciding between the X-T30 and X-S10. Will begin with the XF 18-55 with either. I do mostly landscape photography on hikes. IBIS on the X-S10 could decide it, but I also like the idea of learning the traditional Fujifilm experience with the X-T30. Cheers, Steve

the battery life is definitely not its strongsuit. i have a lot of batteries because i own the xt3 and x100v. so one needs at least 3 - 4 just to make sure they can survive a full day (or a powerbank)
Thanks for the video. I am considering the xs10 and your videos are very helpful. Judy a question for you: can you make the film simulation dial to set ISO?
I do have X-T20 as well... the main reason why I do want to get this is the IBIS. But I am not really sure if this is really a good jump from x-t20 all other features wise. But with almost similar functions as x-t4, this is really a good camera IMO if you don't own a fuji yet. I am not a fan of PASM as well and I would really like to have those ISO, SS dials on top :D
I’m coming from a Sony A73. I’m looking into t3 I’m pretty much a run a gun,hiking,street & portraits,would a non ibis body really matter?… ‘Go Warriors”
Thank you for the video, very helpful. What lens would you recommend for a beginner like myself, the Fuji 18-55mm lens or the 16-80mm? I'll be mostly taking photos, not video if that helps. Thank you!
I'm really excited to get my hands on one myself. Definitely looking for something like this for vlogging, just super disappointed with the weird button layouts and dials. Oh well! Great video man! 🙏🏼
Great review! Reggie can you confirm, with the new Custom Settings C1-4, can you bracket them when shooting? Or is that reserved for only the standard available film simulations. Also if you ever apply the White Balance Shift, does that also affect the RAW files if you shoot both JPEG & RAW? Thanks in advance for the answers, because this looks to be an amazing camera.
I don’t have a solid answer for both your questions unforitnstley, I don’t think any fuji cam does what you’re asking (C1-c7 bracket snd/or wb shift for raw)
I just got my new XS10 a week back and ot rocks.....there is so much to do with the options. But it is suitable for new comer for photography as its dials are not retro.
Does it have clean hdmi out, and unlimited run time? For use with Elgato 4K Camlink on live-streaming. For instance can you disable the auto shut-off so it doesn’t go into sleep mode? Thanks for you input!
Great video! As always. Keep up the good work! What would be your comparison of the x-s10 vs the x100V? They seem closer then you'd think size wise. Primary camera is an xt4 with red badges
i use the x100v as my personal compact camera for stills only (as i'm fine with 23 as my sole focal legnth) and i use the xs10 as my personal camera for video or hybrid photo and video (and pair with the lightweight 18mm f2 or 35mm 1.4)
Excellent review. Thanks. So on the xt3 and x100v, to use the front command for iOS and the rear for SS, is there a setting on the manual controls that allows that shifts control to the command wheels, or does the wheel "override" the manual setting?
its in the button/dial menu. for the xt3 you have to change auto iso to "command" then set the front command dial to iso. for the x100v, set the iso dial to c and then the front command dial to iso.
Reggie great video and congrats on Ambassador status!! Does the XS10 feel high quality like the XT3 or does it feel more plastic and cheaper like the XT30? Thanks, Adam The New Woodworker
I have a XT30. Only passed on the XS10 because $300+ at the time I was buying. Thought the smaller grip would be an issue, but isn’t. Disabled the Q button and remapped it to AEL to solve that minor annoyance. XT30 with ‘charcoal dark’ grey looks cheap, IMO. Silver wasn’t in stock, so can’t comment. My XT30 is all-black and it looks/ feels as premium as xs10
@@Reggiebphoto Got it. What could be my first fuji lens? I like 27mm for price and size, but curious what you'd recommend. Your videos are amazingly soothing and informational!
Hi bro 👋 I m new to fujifilm xs10 system looking for either 23mm f1.4 R or 23mm f2, which one should I choose for better image quality, want your honest response, thanks alot 🤩
Hi Reggie, great video! I liked that you pointed out both the pros and cons of the X-S10. I currently own a Sony RX100 m3 and looking to get a better camera that will allow me to practice manual photography as a beginner and also shoot occasional videos while travelling. I'm leaning towards the X-S10 over the Sony a6400 because it has IBIS and I've read that the X-S10 can produce good JPEGs with minimal editing (is this true?). I also like the smaller size of the X-S10 over the X-T3/X-T4. Do you think this would be a good choice for me?
I think I must have watched every single xs-10 review on RUclips. This one is spot on. Thanks. I'll be getting the camera shortly (new fujifilm owner here 🙋🏼♂️). Besides the 18-55mm lens, how would you say this lens pairs with the 23mm f2? Especially if I'll be do some blogging as well. The small setup just would be perfect. Thanks in advance!
@@Reggiebphoto I honestly felt your review was sincere and genuine. Often the reviews can come across as generic and just basically naming the specs. It's good to hear actual pros and cons from the field. Glad I found your channel. Now I need to make sure I don't end up binging it 😁
That was my goal. I wanted to be critical of the camera even if I am an ambassador. Glad my honesty shined thru. As a couple week update, I’ve been locing the camera for what it is and it’s my daily use camera around the house with the kids ans for vidoe snd I also shot a successful pro portrait session with it

Great review! This will be my first Fuji camera and my last one was a Panasonic G7, so won't notice most of the drawbacks. And btw I came here from the Fuji X-S User Facebook group, mine should come tomorrow or Saturday!
Thanks for the honest and detailed review. Fuji is getting weird with their cripplings-wouldn't storing video settings in the custom modes be exactly what users of a camera like this want for content creation? And I know you shoot manual exposure, but I was really disappointed to see that Fuji didn't fix their worst-in-class minimum shutter speed implementation (another thing that would benefit target users of this camera no doubt).
@@Reggiebphoto thank you very much.. I am contemplating for quite some time now whether to go for the flagship or this one. Hight appreciate your response
I'm really disappointed that you cannot save video settings to those custom modes. It seems like the c1, c2, c3, c4 modes were put there to save different types of video settings. Thank you for the in-depth review!
Superb review Reggie. I'm in the process of replacing my A6000 with a camera suitable for occasional content creation. Had shortlisted the A6400 and the X-T200, but inclined towards the X-S10 since it packs a lot more punch for the extra $300. How do you think this compares with the A6600 as a package for casual photography and the occasional youtube video?
From what I know, the a6600 can't film in 10bit 4:2:2. The x-s10 however can do it via an extarnal Recorder. In my opinion the only real advantage of the a6600 is the Autofokus and the big Z Battery. Everything else is kind of better or the same on the x-s10(USB-C, IBIS etc..). In terms of photography I can't say a lot about it.(Hope this comment was helpfull)
Thanks! I come from a sweet X-T2 but the AF really let me down on so many family shots. I like the compromise and finally I hope my wife will use it because of the AUTO mode! For years there is seldom proof that I exist because I am always behind the camera 😁
I'm like you. I sold my 4 year old X-T2 to "upgrade" to the X-S10. I wanted better AF and IBIS. Many times I would shoot with my non IBIS X-T2 in low light with the kit lens and have to bump up the ISO to get a reasonable shot as I could not shoot hand held below about 1/30 sec. I loved my X-T2 and in a lot of ways I will miss it but I see the X-S10 as close to the perfect camera for me right now. I should receive my X-S10 early next week. It's a bit slower hitting the stores here in Australia.
Hey Mike, how funny that we share exactly the same experiences :). Same Reggie does as he said. Low light is not that big issue with Fuji but indoors I often ended up with ISO of 12800 and that does not look nice. Great to hear! I was lucky to find a Store in Germany that had it suprisingly early. It arrives today and feels like early Christmas Eve :-P Have a good time with your X-S10! Cheers from Germany!
Great review! Now I really want one. Try setting your photo settings at C4, then you only need to move one click to get to video mode. That might work.
Hey mate you might can help, I received my xs10 however realising that when I shoot video in Manuel on video mode the aperture settings aren’t on the lens they are on the front dial. And I can figure out how to enable the aperture ring on the lens. Can you help ? Appreciated
Thanks for the review Reggie, even though I bought it on the 17th. I've only owned the X100F so I wanted more flexibility with the lens; got the 16-80mm, it's wonderful. I get a bit overwhelmed with all the possible settings so I would like to hear how you set the camera up! Thanks!!!
Amazing review. I have never owned a fujifilm camera but this information that you gave made me understand those cameras a lot better. Also the x-s10 looks like a nice b camera for video work.
I love this camera but the control limitations have me thinking hard about the XT4. The lack of full-customization of all the controls in all modes is the big one. You’re stuck with shutter speed being on the rear dial in one shooting mode and the front dial in another, for example. But also - auto ISO in movie mode, there’s no min/max/ss settings. Not sure if that’s different in the XT4 but it’s annoying. The lack of custom movie modes - even if they were accessible on-screen only, and the C1-C4 on the mode dial remained stills-only, seems a no-brainer. There’s no full factory reset option. Would be nice on a camera with so many modes and deep menu options. When you hit the movie record button in one of the stills modes, your exposure settings go out the window and it just becomes Auto. And there’s no indication what the shutter speed is, it ignores your ISO settings etc. When in full movie mode, it would be nice if when you’re in auto ISO and then want to adjust the iso, that the selection would start at wherever the iso currently sits. But instead it makes you scroll from the bottom (auto). For example if you’re in auto iso and it’s currently sitting at 3200 and you want to lock it at 1600, you hit the iso button, and you have to scroll up through 160 to 1600. On the bright side the image quality is fantastic. It’s so small but the deep grip makes it super easy to hold securely. The IBIS and autofocus are both really, really decent. Lots of reasons to like this camera, especially for the price.
@@Reggiebphoto So on the XT4 the video auto iso doesn’t offer any min/max? That’s a bummer but you may have just saved me a pile of money. 😄 You can save custom video modes on the XT4 though, right? That you’d be able to switch in the Q menu?
Great review! I’m planning on selling my Sony a6400 and sigma 16 and 30 mm f1.4 primes and going with X-S10 and 2 primes. Debating between Fuji 23/50 f2 or the Viltrox 23/56 f1.4. Main use case if family photo and video run and gun like you! Recommendation on Fuji or Viltrox primes?
Just got the 16mm 1.4 after watching your vid. Actually, I ordered it first and found your vid later to get hyped. I think there is a HUGE untapped market for new parents trying to up their photo game. FYI. As the above comment mentions. All I really care about is photos of my kids. Kick it around as an idea for future vids. Also photo library management. Thanks and good luck to you and your family!!
@@brianswitzer totally agree on the market for family photographers wanting to up their game and on photo management. I’ve cobbled together a decent workflow using Lightroom CC and Apple Photos. After coming from the Sigma 16mm 1.4 I have a hard time justifying $900 for the Fuji equivalent. Plus I sort of alway felt that 16mm on crop sensor was a little wide for my taste.
Please do a breakdown on settings on this camera😇 I have an entry level Canon and looking to get something a bit better, this seems very enticing! Love the channel bro. New sub🤙🏼
I guess that for professional work, especially wedding videos, another problematic thing would be the fact that there's only one card slot, so if one card fails, no backup. But for serious work, one would record externally via HDMI anyway.
yes, but even the x-t3 has single card record. i'm always on the fence with backups because photo and video backups to two slots is a fairly newer technology. back in the day I used to use external hard drive/sd card readers to backup photos on site. And should i actually shoot critical video footage, a pro would likely have an atomos for duplicate footage or an on-site backup plan
Coming from Canon World, Psam mode is the reason I'll switch. I still doing wedding photography with a Canon 6D, with 11 focus point with great result so this S10 would be good for me. At the end of the day. The best camera is the one you can afford.
for weddings, just be aware that the buffer limit of this camera isn't the best. if you shoot a lot of continuous frames, you might find yourself waiting for the buffer to clear and missing a moment.
i was confuse about X-S10 & XT3 on sale , im a videographer & i have some tremor in my hand XS10 have an ibis but it said dont have WR but XT3 have WR but dont have an ibis for now i dont use camera in extreme situation , i mean if i choose xt3 i can have a long term usefull function. can anybody help me for preference? im sorry for my bad english 🙏🏻 thanks for helping
Doesn’t the X-S10 offer more/better lens selection than the Z50? Nikon is new to the crop sensor game. That was a major consideration when I was trying to decide between the two. Also, I really like the out of camera JPEG images, film simulations and Fuji color.
@@007UA16 yeah I ended up trading my Z50 in for the XS10, greatest decion! I will be set for quite some time with this camera is reckon, it is amazing.
@@Reggiebphoto the only problem is changing the settings on the pc app. The X-S10 has slightly different settings than the ones shown in the guide. I've followed the instructions exactly right but it still doesn't work. Also tried things in different orders. Maybe it's not 100% available yet
Oof. Loved the detailed review. This is exactly the style of camera I was hoping for from Fuji, but parts of the cons list made it a little bit of a deal breaker for me personally. Might not make a bad B cam, but I'm hoping for a "big brother/pro" version of this camera with a PASM layout to replace my XT3!
Many fuji users want the same control mechanics. They aren’t deal breakers but I like to give all the details so that if someone cares, they can’t say I didn’t warn them
@@Reggiebphoto yeah I get it, don't worry. But I still think many people research specs and spend way too much time contemplating what to get, you know? Just get a camera that is clearly enough for you and start shooting.
Hi! Great review!! But there’s a thing that I didn’t see anyone talking about this camera, how it behaves in sport photography. I am very interested on the X-S10 but I’m afraid that the FPS and the buffer won’t keep up! I would be using it to shoot horse dressage events, do you think I will be fine with it or it’s better to start thinking on sell a kidney and buy the X-T4?😂 Keep up the good work and by the way your kids are beautiful!!! Thank you for the help.
The main difference for sports is: 1) 11 fps vs 8 fps and the UHS-2 slot on the xt4. If you aren’t peaking the buffer, I think it will do fine in the af department
@@Reggiebphoto i’m sorry but I think I saw that the X-T4 was 15fps mechanical shutter or I’m I wrong? I’m very confused on what camera to get, the more I see the more confused I get!🤦
Xpro has still the best ergonomics in Fuji line up.Only idiotic thing is the text delete next to the button. This text, dedicated button and function should be removed permanently from any camera.
How can it be with that stupid side hinged screen.... you’re doubling the width of the camera nearly as soon as you take it out. This needs an unobtrusive tilt screen not the selfie pull out screen.

Thank you for the video, very helpful. What lens would you recommend for a beginner like myself, the Fuji 18-55mm lens or the 16-80mm? I'll be mostly taking photos, not video if that helps. Thank you!
I prefer the 18-55 but that’s just my preference
When is the review for the 10-24 mk ii droppin'? 😎 Ps. Thx for this vid, great review and what lens are you using here?
Haha hopefully soon.
Did i miss the part where you speak about the Left Dial?
What is it for, is it programmable?
By default it’s for film Sim, but it can be customized to be most other fn commands
I was waiting for a video like this ❤️❤️❤️ thank you so much !!
Yes!
hi reggie! what gimbal do you recommend for fuji xs10 with 18-55 kit lens?
I haven’t used any gimbals so just check the payload and go from there
I'm really excited to get my hands on one myself. Definitely looking for something like this for vlogging, just super disappointed with the weird button layouts and dials. Oh well! Great video man! 🙏🏼
Yes, hoping they can fix this in later updates. It’s workable but kinda only a teaser about how good it can really be.
@@Reggiebphoto No problem, I think you are right. Thanks!
Yeah I’ve tried the xt4 and those are not functions. So if those are important to you, it’s not possible on any fuji camera
@@Reggiebphoto Wow thanks for trying! BTW, I would still love to see a video about your X-S10 recommended settings. Thanks :-)
I just got my new XS10 a week back and ot rocks.....there is so much to do with the options. But it is suitable for new comer for photography as its dials are not retro.
Thanks for a great review. You mention that ISO can’t be set to front command dial. Is there any way to get ISO assigned to the rear dial?
Top left fn dial can be changed
Does it have clean hdmi out, and unlimited run time? For use with Elgato 4K Camlink on live-streaming. For instance can you disable the auto shut-off so it doesn’t go into sleep mode? Thanks for you input!
Sorry for the delayed response yes it does
@@Reggiebphoto great, thanks!
Thanks,
Adam
The New Woodworker
I haven’t tried the xt30. I would say it would be best to head to a store and hold it In your hand
Trying to buy my first camera to shoot children/family photo/videos, which one would you recommend between X100V, XS10 and XT3?
It really depends on how much weight or frequency you’ll shoot video. But as a family camera for both photos and videos I think the xs10 has the edge

Sounds like the camera may be a good fit!
Was it the same or different than the others lol

Genuine question:
Should I pick X-T4 if I'm getting one in special deal only 250 Euros more than X-S10?
It depends on what you want/newd
Thanks for the honest and detailed review. Fuji is getting weird with their cripplings-wouldn't storing video settings in the custom modes be exactly what users of a camera like this want for content creation? And I know you shoot manual exposure, but I was really disappointed to see that Fuji didn't fix their worst-in-class minimum shutter speed implementation (another thing that would benefit target users of this camera no doubt).
yes even better is if they would just put a shutter angle mode in the camera. problem solved!
Hey reggie, do you think its a x-s10 a good update from x-t20?
Yes I do.
@@Reggiebphoto thank you very much.. I am contemplating for quite some time now whether to go for the flagship or this one. Hight appreciate your response

It’s a tough decision tbh
What are the best budget lenses for the X-S10 for travel vlogs? New to the channel, sorry if you answered this in a previous video.
The kit lens
I'm really disappointed that you cannot save video settings to those custom modes. It seems like the c1, c2, c3, c4 modes were put there to save different types of video settings. Thank you for the in-depth review!
yes, i'm really bummed. I sent this feedback to fujifilm directly (since i'm an ambassodor). who knows if they'll take action tho
Honestly I’ve never tried the a6600. But I would assume it’s got the same capabilities with better color science.
Arriving tomorrow and I am really excited :-)
Btw: Thank you for that great review, Reggie!
Exciting! It’s a monster camera in a tiny package. Enjoy!
Thanks! I come from a sweet X-T2 but the AF really let me down on so many family shots. I like the compromise and finally I hope my wife will use it because of the AUTO mode! For years there is seldom proof that I exist because I am always behind the camera 😁
Yes the af is blazing!
It arrives today and feels like early Christmas Eve :-P
Have a good time with your X-S10!
Cheers from Germany!
Fantastic review man! I'd love to watch your review of the M6 mk ii,,,,hint hint.
Haha no thanks

Great review! Now I really want one. Try setting your photo settings at C4, then you only need to move one click to get to video mode. That might work.
Hey mate you might can help, I received my xs10 however realising that when I shoot video in Manuel on video mode the aperture settings aren’t on the lens they are on the front dial. And I can figure out how to enable the aperture ring on the lens. Can you help ? Appreciated
There’s a couple way to decouple the physical adjustments from the camera to the menu. If you can turn this off you can regain your aperture control
@@Reggiebphoto man appreciated, I’ll gonna have another dive into the menu and will do a hunt 👍 appreciated
Yeah, it’s actually something new. I had it happen to me and was able to turn it off. But j don’t remember exactly how I did it

This is true
Amazing review. I have never owned a fujifilm camera but this information that you gave made me understand those cameras a lot better. Also the x-s10 looks like a nice b camera for video work.
Yes it definitely is!
Can i use Cinematic Fujifilm Profils without color grading for Video ? I hate color Grading 🤨
Yup definitely can!

Half the complaints you listed are true on the xt4 as well - regarding auto iso and custom modes for video
@@Reggiebphoto So on the XT4 the video auto iso doesn’t offer any min/max? That’s a bummer but you may have just saved me a pile of money. 😄
You can save custom video modes on the XT4 though, right? That you’d be able to switch in the Q menu?
Nope it doesn’t
And no you can’t set custom vidoe modes. Just custom film sims

Yeah 4k 60
Needs the uhs-2 slot which the xs10

Great review! I’m planning on selling my Sony a6400 and sigma 16 and 30 mm f1.4 primes and going with X-S10 and 2 primes. Debating between Fuji 23/50 f2 or the Viltrox 23/56 f1.4. Main use case if family photo and video run and gun like you!
Recommendation on Fuji or Viltrox primes?
Big fan of the 16 1.4. Check out my review on this.
I’m open to ideas! Definitely want to educate that segment of the audience because I live it daily

Please do a breakdown on settings on this camera😇 I have an entry level Canon and looking to get something a bit better, this seems very enticing! Love the channel bro. New sub🤙🏼
Thanks my friend! Looking to do the settings video soon!

Fuji XS10 or Nikon Z50?
I personally haven’t tried the z50 so I can’t comment
Doesn’t the X-S10 offer more/better lens selection than the Z50? Nikon is new to the crop sensor game. That was a major consideration when I was trying to decide between the two. Also, I really like the out of camera JPEG images, film simulations and Fuji color.

Yes honestly I’m such a bad ambassador lol. Maybe I’m too honest lol
The cons were literally so minor that I don't understand how they could be deal breakers lol. Some people overthink so much
Many fuji users want the same control mechanics.
Yup I agree.
Hi! Great review!! But there’s a thing that I didn’t see anyone talking about this camera, how it behaves in sport photography. I am very interested on the X-S10 but I’m afraid that the FPS and the buffer won’t keep up! I would be using it to shoot horse dressage events, do you think I will be fine with it or it’s better to start thinking on sell a kidney and buy the X-T4?😂
Keep up the good work and by the way your kids are beautiful!!!
I’m very confused on what camera to get, the more I see the more confused I get!🤦
Ah perhaps it does. I don’t have an xt4. I only have the xf3 which is 11 fps .
Xpro has still the best ergonomics in Fuji line up.Only idiotic thing is the text delete next to the button. This text, dedicated button and function should be removed permanently from any camera.
