    Do you know if the other chase bliss stereo pedals with dip switches follow the same design?

    • @thepedalcollaborative

      All the small box stereo pedals from chase bliss all have TRS I/O as well as MISO and SPREAD DIP switches. Is that what you’re asking about?

    Hi, great video - i'm having all sorts of issues trying to send the tempo from my disaster area micro.clock to either my da midi box 4 or straight to my chase bliss ownard - any ideas?
    Is your disaster area tempo box sending the clock out via midi, to the midi box 4? (my micro.clock doesn't have midi out so I may have to get whatever your disaster area tempo thingy is!?)
    Many thanks in advance

      Take a look at the micro.clock user manual here: static1.squarespace.com/static/5ffa32e2e3802f025d87246d/t/5ffa5f9a4807cb16b93c4f77/1610243996424/micro.clock+Manual.pdf
      You want to set up the red multijack to send midi out to Chase Bliss which also requires the adjustment of the DIP switches on the micro.clock. Then I believe a TRS cable is all you need.
      Start there and report back if you keep running into snags!

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  3 месяца назад +1

      My answer was a response to your questions. Did it not come through?
      Your micro.clock and a TRS cable SHOULD be all you need, but since I’m not associated with either manufacturer, please reach out to them specifically for deeper questions.
      That said, here’s my guess to possibilities:
      1: you’re not using TRS cables
      2: you’re not plugging the TRS cable into the midi jack on the Onward
      3: you don’t have the micro.clock set up to send midi to chase bliss appropriately.
      My smart.clock is set up using 5-pin to the midi box 4 and then TRS cables from there to the Chase Bliss pedals. I have to make sure I each midi box 4 output that the DIP switches for that output are set correctly.
      Also, even when done correctly, the LEDs on the Onward may not blink in any sort of synchronized manner to show you it’s receiving midi clock. I’ve noticed this on the MOOD as well and you just have to use your ears to know it’s working
      Hope that helps. If not, you may have to reach out to Disaster Area or Chase Bliss as they design and manufacture their products to communicate with midi in specific ways and if something is working right within either unit, you can DK everything correctly and it still won’t work

      @@thepedalcollaborative Thanks for the detailed response - is your TRS cable a special one (I bought a TRS stereo cable), i've adjusted the dipswitch and done the settings in the micro.clock but i'm certain it's not working.
      I have reached out to the manufacturers of both, thanks, but seeing as yours is the only video I can find where I can see a similar setup, I thought i'd reach out to a fellow guitarist.

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  3 месяца назад

      @TimStanley1978 100% get that! My TRS cable isn’t special, you may need a special TRS to 5-pin midi from DA to connect the micro.clock to midi box.
      Do you think there’s a chance that the Onward has “midi clock ignore” turned on? I don’t know off the top of my head how that command is done but just in case?
      I don’t want to send you down a ton of bunny trails though :/

      Hi, having messaged Disaster Area support, I've managed to get it working (so it seems!)
      Method to connect micro.clock to chase bliss onward:
      1) I had to update the firmware for the micro.clock (firmware and instructions on disasterarea website support page)
      2) Followed guidance to update firmware.
      3) Changed settings in micro.clock (via setup menu) to JC = MdR (this option wasn't available until I updated the micro.clock firmware.
      4) Adjust the dipswitches on the micro.clock (top to bottom - ON, ON, OFF OFF, OFF, OFF)
      5) Used TRS cable out of Red output on micro.clock to midi input of onward.
      Now when changing the bpm on the micro.clock, the onward appears to follow!
      Many thanks for your help, hopefully the method above may help others (albeit a niche setup!)

      It affects the timing of the Drolo side, as in it clips the micro loop and/pr triggers it within the BPM given by the clock. It’s more obvious at certain settings than others. It may be easier to explain by making a video. I can put it on the list of things to make. Stay tuned

    I would hate it if this was a listener's only exposure to the sounds of Onward... I think you really do the pedal a disservice by only demonstrating what it sounds like on "full error." It really is capable of so much more (as you may have demonstrated elsewhere).

      Yes if this is the only video in the series you’ve seen I get that. It’s the fourth on the Onward I’ve done. I hope the others do more justice. Usually by the time we’re at the 4th video we’re getting VERY specific. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    I find the onward to sound not very musical but way too digital. I don't get the hype. the outward had mor interesting stuff going on, but was too complicaated, noisy and not well designed. But it was cheaper. Its a 500 bucks delay and freeze pedal. Not a single demo sounds very musical or displays convincing use cases.

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  5 месяцев назад

      The Onward seems to be a love it or not thing, and I wonder if those who have had experience with Outward are biased one way or the other. Idk, I never tried the Outward

    • @tokiboi6777
      @tokiboi6777 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@thepedalcollaborative I don't think so. The capabilites are just pretty limited. The Freeze function was just one mode of many in the outward and while I love it, I think it could have been taken to another level. The glitch side is also limited in its behaviour and musicality. Everything has this piercing digital sound. There is no way of dialing more vibey stuff. I do own the lossy, mood, gen loss, microcosm and others. I think this release is quite the rip-off.

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  5 месяцев назад

      Again I’ve not tried the outward. But I can totally see where you’re coming from. This ones seems limited.
      And with everything else in your roster, you’ve got these sounds covered 😎

    • @BrockDavisson
      @BrockDavisson 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@tokiboi6777 I disagree. Glitch side can do many things from different types of patterns, rhythms, glitches, and even act as a delay. Also in this video they have the texture set all the way left, which is giving it a bright bit-crushing sound and obviously going to sound more piercing / digital. Playing with the size and the sensitivity, and also the ducking and sustain brings in a lot of musicality for both sides, then throw in the dip switches and reverse the glitch side and use the 1/2 dip switch and even more options!
