    First test: Blooper was best/most useful I think compared to the Habit when turned right, but when turning the "Noise knob" to the left, Habit had something else or extra that I liked. The Blooper in this test is competing surprisingly well with other lo-fi pedals that has many knobs to achieve something similar, Like for example shallow water, that I got and love.
    Second test: Of limited use I think as the delay on the octave seems to have an envelope on it, like adding a pulse or beat. ( Hope this made sense ).
    Third: Different results but both good. A tie.
    Last: I think Blooper won here.
    So for these types of "lo-fi" use I guess Blooper winns. However, From watching demos and tutorials on both, I think Habit would work best for me. Partly because Blooper seems more complex and harder to comprehend, use, + that much of what Blooper can do seems really fun and all, but not that easy to implement musically.

      Thanks for the comment. I'd have to say the Blooper is my favorite "vintagemaker" pedal but it can't do it in realtime so it's never going to replace Shallow Water for me. And the SW on synths does something different than guitar, I think ... not so much adding lo-fi but more bringing them alive.
      I will say after these last few weeks, I would pick Habit over Blooper as well. Music just comes pouring out of this thing!
      What are you rocking in your rig currently in addition to the Fairfield?

      @@MKDVB Hi and thanks for your reply : )
      Yes, some pedals can or will do weird things to synths, like for example distortion often make the sound smother. So yes again, I also discovered that SW as you say can alter the sound in unexpected ways. Something to bear in mind I think is that rather cheap pedals can do wonders to mediocre synth sounds.
      I use A.L.M's S.B.G as a bridge between my eurorack and a small pedal chain: SW + Demedach T-120, or El Capistan atm. I also got an Eventide Space for general ambience, hooked up as a send and return device to an outboard mixer. That last one is really throwing pearls before swine on me because I only use it as a set and forget pedal.
      The "weirdest" pedal I got is a Boss pitch shifter. What tempts me most in this field is Tensor by Red Panda, Otto Bit jr by Meris, and this one banana coloured from Chase Bliss.

      @@jonaseggen2230 Like minds! Just picked up an Ottobit jr & looking forward to digging into it after my temp studio relocation. How are you routing all that?

    • @jonaseggen2230
      @jonaseggen2230 2 года назад +1

      @@MKDVB Rather straightforward really. Just one or two cables from eurorack case to mixer. Space is in a send and return loop in the mixer.
      A send and return module lets me send sounds safely to a pedal chain. The order of pedals and what I use might vary.
      I'm also thinking about this one, Old Blood Noise Signal Blender, but for now I'm more focused on getting a couple of modules for my case so no more pedals for a while. I think..

    I have Habit into Blooper, and I absolutely agree with "they complete each other"...
    I had Blooper but struggled to get it to do quite what I wanted (and mostly ended up using it as a funky delay), then got Habit but found it almost inspiring (and a bit frustrating), but now I love them together. I particularly like sending sequences of tempo 60/90/120 into Habit so that autoscan comes up with synchronous additions.

      @MKDVB  2 года назад +1

      Nice! Thanks for the tip on the using tempos at multiples of 30. I am going to try that out this weekend to see if I can get something more harmonious out of autoscan.
      What modifiers do you have loaded on Blooper? I am going to reverse the chain because it turns out I really need a sampler for this track I'm working on so we'll see if the Blooper> Habit can replace a Deluge!

      God bless you, friend!
      I don't have a Mood anymore. I had borrowed a friend's to do a Blooper+Mood vs Microcosm video but I blanked out on any actual ideas. The Mood does that to me for some reason. My friend loves it as do others but I've always had a hard time pulling sounds that touch me in my special place.

      If you get another one, please report back with how you get onn with it!

    Great review, you really nail the differences. I crowdfunded the blooper and quickly realised it difficult to use live, you can set a loop but you still need to interact with it on the fly in a live situation to get the most out of it, a pain if yr a guitarist.

    • @MKDVB
      @MKDVB  2 года назад

      Yeah, I rarely use it as an actual looper but its been awesome as a sound mangler after the Habit. They make beautiful sounds together though.
      Did you keep your blooper?

    Yeah, they do some similar things but I don't see them as being very similar in application. I do prefer the blooper's stability sound. It'd be more useful if the modulation could be separated from the noise, though. At 5 o'clock the noise is still usable but I don't think I'd ever use that much vibrato. Second one I don't know what to say- they both lose and for what CB charges you'd think they could provide modulation or pitch shifting in real time. It's not like it's impossible. For instance EHX's offerings track perfectly. And third test is apples and oranges and really highlights the differences. In that regard the Habit is more like the Mood.
    Great video. Especially highlighting the lag and differences in stability effect.

    • @MKDVB
      @MKDVB  2 года назад +1

      Totally agree on the Blooper's stability + modulation. I once had an idea to lofi a beat with Blooper but the modulation took the beat off-rhythm even when I lined up them up in the grid!
      🙏 for your insights and kind words!

      'I do prefer the blooper's stability sound. It'd be more useful if the modulation could be separated from the noise, though.' As he says in the video. you can literally do this by using the editor.

    Crackle/hiss: blooper better (better mix-can hardly hear the crackle on Habit).

      Love that I can set the noise level on the blooper. There are some tracks where I don't want just the warble and no noise at all because when I send it through the Wombtone after, the noise really gets accentuated to the point of distraction.
