I think what Oora is demonstrating here is ‘think modularity’ with your gear, not specifically what he has on the table. This could easily be a Zoom R8, a Donner delay pedal, a Zoom CDR, and a Mooer/Donner looper. Throw in a Koma Field kit and you are off to the races! It’s not about the cost, it’s the ideas.
Thanks Justin, you perfectly get my ethos. Gear is fun, but you can do a lot with very little. In fact, most of the music I do is made with few instruments and different ideas on how to use them!
Chase bliss does so many great pedals, I just don't get it why they still produce the Habit, Blooper and Mood only in mono … after all, it's 2022!!! At least the new Generation Loss MK2 announced for autumn will be in stereo, finally!
I asked my self that too, and I think is too keep price manageable. It is still a boutique company and If you go stereo you will have to double some components like the converters.
@@stephanrewind which company are you referring too? I would say Chase Bliss doesn’t have a comparison. They also went to direct sales in order to avoid price increases. Having said all that, I wish they were stereo too.
It’s simple because not everything has to be in stereo always. just maybe put a nice stereo rreverb at the end of the signal but that’s about it ….I keep hearing all this concern about everything has to be stereo. Lol. Something like habit which already has enough going on would just be complete chaos if it was in stereo. Chase Bliss knows exactly what they’re doing
A very good demonstration and I love how you play the possibilities together, but I do not feel any need to go buy these pedals myself. The result is just too undefined to me. Thank you for your work.
@@OoraMusic Oh for sure, and if this is what you are looking for I totally see the value! It just lacks a bit more control over the outcome, for some that might be a blessing, for me it would not. Keep on going strong, love your work.
Great video, Federico! Even watching that I was thinking how even with the same setup, you could change the order of these pedals from session to session with different results and benefits.
@@OoraMusic absolutely agree. The way the Habit can constantly references the past would give lovely coherence to a set that moves and morphs. Meant to say loving Habit on Octatrack cue outs: this means you can audition sounds you want the Habit to hear and then cue a track once it’s ready for Habit to hear!
For anyone moaning about the cost of these pedals and lack of stereo etc, you can do all this for free with software! There just doesn't seem to be many people doing this, maybe boutique hardware looks cooler on RUclips, or it's the 'lack of tactile control' with computers (just map a MIDI controller!), I don't know. Obviously I'd buy all of these if I had plenty of spare cash, because it's a cool way to work. I just can't justify this kind of gear basically!
tra tutti e tre l habit e' quello che tira fuori robe quasi finite. Purtroppo si, son pedali che consta cari ( e conta io ho solo avuto l Habit for free, quindi capisco bene).
Quick question: can you set Habit to record shorter than 3 minutes or is it fixed? And how can you stop Habit from recording or doesn't the loop degrade like in the Mood? I was thinking that if you like what you created in Habit and would like to record it somewhere, you'd need to stop Habit changing the loop. How can you accomplish this?
Fire video as always......inspirational and beautiful. So....... the difficult question - if you could keep only one of these pedals, which would it be?
In my experience if you want a fairly functional looper with wierd features get the blooper but I would recommend something else if you just want a basic looper if you want to be Ed Sheeran.
interesting.........get demo, but for me - I'm still always disinterested, because the output is just mono.............to me, it's just not immersive enough
@@stephanrewind Yeah, I think the only reason why you haven't released the best ambient album in the world is because of this mono obstacle! God Damn that CBA! The audacity they have to sell in mono!
@@stephanrewind Also all the great ambient granular pedals by Pladask Elektrisk, like the Baklengs, Draume or Feber are all stereo. And while I love the sound of the Walrus Audio Lore, I wouldn't buy it as it's only mono and most of my synths have stereo outputs.
Yeah, I think perhaps, because the company started by creating pedals for guitarists........These days, everyone seems to be cluing into the fact that synthesists and others are all 'effects addicted'
Yes, they sound cool, but the problem is that some people watch videos like this and think they need to spend thousands to just get started with sound processing, which is the furthest thing from the truth. This is not a reflection on your creative process, which I think is wonderful.
@@stephanrewind I don't have a problem with music creators using expensive equipment, but I do agree that some RUclipsrs' focus on high end gear sends mixed messages. If people believe that they have to pay top dollar for good, interesting sounds, they're missing out on a lot of vital experimentation and learning to get the most out of stuff that's readily available (and affordable). I know guys who buy Strymon pedals because they basically don't know what they're doing, and just want stuff that sounds amazing "out of the box". Once again, that's cool if you can afford it. But there are some spectacularly creative videos around using basic things like Zoom Multistomp pedals etc.
Dunno, I’m a bit non plussed with that habit pedal to be honest. It seems to take over everything. Everything else Chase Bliss releases is gold though. Nice demo all the same 👍
Can't wait to get my hands on the Habit. Bummer that it won't be in stock for at least another month or two. Federico, will you be updating your affiliate link once Chase Bliss starts selling it in-house?

This is by far the best explination of these pedals on the internet. Thank you for doing this.
Glad you think so!
I've been running my Minifreak through Thermae>Blooper>Mood mk2. So Fun. Just learned the Habit workflow and excited to add it to the mix.
Fantastic!
I am so envious of this setup! Absolutely love TE and Chase Bliss!

Mono also focuses the composer on the content. I quite like it as an initial discipline

Welcome back!
Yes, incredible demo! I feel like I finally understand these pedals! Thank you thank you thank you!
Happy to help!
Good video man! I’ve been tempted to add a Habit to my synth board but already own a Mood. Seems like they compliment each other well!
If you can , I'd say go for it!!
Very nice demonstration ✨ Love the dip switches of ChaseBliss pedals, you can even go deeper in this kind of generative music 🙂
100%

nice video as always federico. question: which 'stereo to mono' cable are you using? 3.5mm TRS to 6.3mm TS? or TRS to TRS? does it matter?
3.5mm TRS to 6.3mm TS , never had problem, but not sure what happens with phase ..

Nope. Mono only. But that is slowly changing. The Generation Loss II is Stereo and the newly announced Mood II is also stereo (ships by end of April)
