3 Tips To Get More From The SSL Big Six
Do you also use this in conjunction with a dedicated audio interface?
No the Big Six is the interface as well!
P3 and CK pattern is one of reasons i got it in the first place actually, as both event list based and step sequencers has pros and cons and are good for different usecases, its perefct to have both approaches in one machine. I always had two sequencers just because of this, with cirklon i finally got all I need in one sequencer. I honestly don't think cirklon lost anything with how market changed since 2011, if its the sequencer for you, there is no competitor that can do what cirkon does but better. But what changed is there is plenty pretty capable HW sequencers with different workflows so if Cirklon is not the one, you can pick different one with workflow thats right for you. back in 2011 market with HW sequencers was almost non existent
Honestly that is a very helpful comparison to make for the average consumer looking into a sequencer
Sick edit! Cool surprise how thematically harmonious the title and footage work together. Congrats!
You made it easy. Thanks brother!
I see the smile on your face!
I see you too, brother.
Great video! Thanks!
Bro chase bliss has sidechain capability lol 😅let’s go with chase bliss
I'm on your side, brother, but you unlock the potential of any device only after you remove the protective film from the screen.
Onward is a close comparison to the EHX Superego+ or Gamechanger Plus, Mood is a better comparison to the Microcosm.
im not getting into it either- too impatient- selling mine if anyone wants it
I love the combination of the Cirklon 2 and the Koma Komplex. Both powerful, but the depth of the Cirklon is unmatched and the Komplex is quick to get stuff going and still flexible.
Which pedal for plate? Plate is all I need... I'm curious how these pedals will perform in my loop at line level +4 to 0db
Bluearp dm mk1 does what you want. You change keys all the other synths change key with you. I also hate computers so i go dawless into a tascam model 24
sold mine. very happy with an Oxi One
"Too expensive" is all relative
The fun comes after the wooden side cheeks.
Yeah "distinguished character" is really subjective and I'd have to buy all of them to test side by side to compare that character. I wonder if that character is 3% 7% or 15% distinguishable if I'm hearing it blindly? I had the OB8Xm but the interface was terrible and buttons didn't work and wasn't modernized much at all however someone else might love it. I sold mine. The Deckard's Dream plays some character rich stuff and with the software it's instantaneous design which is lightyears beyond the CS80 including w/MPE. Pair it with the Osmose and bend notes side to side it's insane.
I didn't own a Moog and sure some of the mono units might sound better but I did get the Muse because I like poly more just because I play chords. I also have the PolyBrute12 and Deckard's Dream so they all sound so different. Since I didn't have a Moog the Muse fits pretty well. I'm sure they all sound the same as someone commented as it's analog with company components. Modular people probably love modular but I don't want to venture into that world and expense with patch cables running everywhere. There's something for everyone though as competition is good. The appearance and layout is pretty fantastic looking. I heard Moog One was overkill, poor effects and not as good dollar for dollar. Law of diminishing returns poster child, kind of unnecessary when you could own both a PB12 & Muse and buy a Meris effects unit for the same price.
I saw that you have a Samson patchbay. How are you connecting that to the i/o on the 500r8? Are you just doing xlr male/female to TRS? Have you run into any issues at all with that?
Can you run moogs delay through the zen???
You don’t get frustrated with Cirklon. Cirklon gets frustrated with you. Specially the v2.
Blue cat audio connector... ur welcome....... midi also
Spend more time with it bud. Once you get the muscle memory and can navigate the UI the Cirklon becomes more Fun
Really what a stupid video. Maybe you slept the last years. For every release there are some videos in the pipeline. Always and these shit videos for tge most part are always there with every manufacture. So maybe you where in coma? 2. moog did something very clever but also very usefull for all interested into synth. When the muse came out all videos where released at once and all the lost people could watch their facorite youtuber, find their style and got a lot of content right now. That was clever. YOU has to make video about it and criticize something that is very cool. In the development of the muse they included a lot of very different musicians or artists to help shaping this instrument from a musician poinz of view. In this size noone does it before and ut worked. The muse is an fantastic synth and there wouldn't be a hype if there was no substance at all. Its nice from moog that they focus on the perspective of musicians so much. And what do you here? Being the rebell who doesn't follow the hype? What you also don't understand is that the labyrinth isn't a common instrument. All the testers had no clue how to present it because tgey couldn't do their standart shit and patches. Playing their program. So it just was try and error just luck and no presentation. Stupid things like a filtersweep on a triangle. People are not used to such an instrument. Where the hell is the voltage lab2? You yourself have no clue what you should tweak or think of an folder/fm)ringmod square/triangle synth with no filter and random sequencer. Do what yoz will. But this video was really useless
I will remember this one : why don't you go on holidays this year? Yeah, you know, we live in interesting financial times 😂
Randomize note at 29.10 is not working coz everything is set to 0 bro
math?
So much patching, ugh. Why can't someone make a modern version of the Mackie Onyx, Midas Venice or A&H ZED-R16. We want 16+ channels and at least 16 USB or TB I/O.
yeah, it's incredible. Love Needham's stuff
The Pro-3 sem filter made me buy the OB-6, never going to sell it. Never thought buying the OB-6, because I have 6 sequential synths, but the OB-6 is just that much different that I could not have it.
I feel the same way about the ob6. I love how it doesn't necessarily have to sound vintagey to me to sound its best.
I agree… I’m allergic for these Influencers… And although moog deserves great marketing, they failed to show the Muse in a musical way. The Muse needs indeed the community and artists to show what it can sound like. It’s a great instrument. Not the next gadget…
Everything they release sounds the same.
a lot of my favourite artists/ bands use Moog products, and i like the sound they get from them. i personally however, never wanted to buy a Moog product just because i rather spend my money on something else. if they release a Muse desktop, then perhaps i might be interested.
This may be a bit long...so my apologies for that. I got into synths and in general music production few months ago. So I entered youtube to research gear setups, midi controllers, sequencers you name it. Coming in fresh like that into "community" feels like these are just people who are trying to help you on your journey. And don't get me wrong, even by watching influencers "not trying to sell" gear I learned a lot. But. As an example I spent a lot of time trying to pick my first proper midi controller. I bought used MPC mini mk3 and it was shockingly bad. The keys, the pads. No one in reviews made a complaint about the quality of the device. Keep in mind that I was new to the hobby so didn't have an idea how much money buys what level of quality. Anyway, I gave it to my brother in law and bought myself Arturia keylab 61 mk2 after long and extensive research. If you don't know, keylab series is their flagship series of midi controllers. To be fair I love it, but it has one major flaw that not a single video has covered and I watched a lot. I mean...pretty much every review I could find on youtube. The pads on it are shockingly bad. They are hard as a rock. You need to slam them to get consistent drums. Luckily for me I already had launchpad pro from Novation, so shitty pads didn't bother me as much. What bothers me is that no one spoke about this huge flaw in otherwise great device. It's so glaring, that I don't believe that no one noticed it. And this to me means that basically everyone was either told not to speak about it or paid. In the end of the day Keylab mk2 costed 550Euro at the time of purchase. And that MPC mini I mentioned before (costs sub 100 Euro) had way better pads although still shit compared to Lauchpad pro. Now. Recently there has been a flood of new gear: Novation and Arturia released new generation of their midi controllers, Moog released new Synth. Now that youtube algorithm learned that I'm consuming synth content, I saw a lot of all the channels that I watched previously looking for advice, spitting out content like crazy about all this new gear. Now that I learned my lesson, I see it for what it is: advertisment. Don't get me wrong, there are some good channels out there, Loopop, XNB, Bad gear ;). But they are far and few between all the generic crap that feels almost like it is AI generated content.
Great insight bro
The problem is what sounds these devices are being immediately locked into by big influencers and one shot uploaders alike. Start counting the number of Labyrinth videos that have "techno" in title or description and let me know when you fall asleep. Listen to the Muse demos, factory and user, and tell me exactly what makes it stand out against analog polys modern and vintage alike(bonus points if you compare moogs). People need to start pushing these devices off the rails out of the box. If you're making your device sound like something it's NOT supposed to be, you're beating the algorithm. Example: If everyone had JUST used roland x0x machines for their intended advertised sonic purpose, modern dance/electronic as we know it wouldnt exist.
I have been looking at it for a year now and love it to have along with my Apollo x4. I already want to buy it, but I came across someone on "Reverb" who was selling it because he wanted the 500adat. And I asked him why? because the 500r8 seems to me much more complete than the 500adat. According to me, it has the same, but apart from that, it is interface. So his answer is as follows: He has an Apollo, and wanted to use it as an extension. But that the clock was not synchronized well with his Apollo. I thought that was rather strange since one of the features of the Cranborne is that it has an incredible WC. So I told him that maybe he could configure the Apollo to have the master clock on the Cranborne. But then he tells me that inside the Apollo console, the Cranborne 500r8 does not appear. So he wanted to sell it because it wasn't working well for him. And he asked Cranborne and they say that the 500r8 is not optimized to be adat or slave of any interface, they are made to be the main one. I was looking to have the 500r8 as an adat for my Apollo, with my Apollo x4 being the main one. But also to have the ability to take the Cranborne 500r8 anywhere and not have to take the whole rig along with the Apollo. What do you think?
"Should not mistake consumerism for a community" - What a great statement, and so true.
not hearing anything in Labyrinth - but Muse is stunning TBH. I do have one in person so Im speaking from hands on experience.
Not surprising to hear that it sounds good - I dont have anything bad to say about the synths but more the marketing ... from the Super Bow photol leaks to the synchronized RUclips reviews ... turned me from totally stoked to lets be content with the Matriarch.
@@MKDVB the sync's youtube reviews are normal for any major release TBH. Thee superbowl thing was daft.
What really holds me back is space. Getting new gear now adds clutter and stifles my creativity.
Sounds awesome! The acoustics are amazing, and that place looks like it would be a great place to film a Mafia torture sequence, drug deal or David Cronenberg/Lynch movie. She was dressed to match her mood, her strawberry blonde curls kissing the tops of her red couture jacket as she click-clack clicked her way across the dimly lit room, her cigarette and perfume the perfect answer to an imperfect dream. "Hello Tubbs, did you bring it?" she said- her voice echoing off the walls like bullets caught in a freeze frame theater. Tubbs looked up at her, the yellow blouse and cherry red lips seemed like a distant memory.. "Yeah I got it, Lil. Did you bring the money?", he snarled, trying not to remember that night five years ago. The saxophonist played on... That kind of thing 😂😂😂
Ive always wanted to play in a lynchian jazz combo, 😆🙏🏼🙏🏼
You're not wrong. The last decent synth Moog made was the Voyager
I like the Matriarch!
The last great synth they made was the Muse. Beautiful instrument… lots of character.
@@oscarvanderburgh9915 Nah the Muse is a just ok synth
Maybe it’s subjective at least…
I don't think the Muse is too much hipe, it's a sound design tool that I haven't seen anyone use it's biggest sound design feature, the jacks in the back! A fully weight kebed that's 61, and CV Gate connectable! I'm ordering one for use of all my eurorack. It's a fill in the very big blanks tool, lol.
Seems like the Matriarch would fit better for eurorack. That's one of my uses for it.
We should not mistake consumerism for a community 🔥🔥🔥
Shillionaires all around us
I feel fatigued with all the hype. I don't respond well when I am force fed marketing material day in and day out for weeks on end. It tends to irritate me a lot. I have gone from being really positive about the news to being put off it because of the oversaturation. I like your attitude. Subbed.
Very sad. Are you still in the age where you dislike something because everyone likes it? I know what you mean it is so childish. Its just important what you get out of it. Buy it or not. I am more concerned how all synth channels talk about synth like it is a new smartphone. The better one is on the way. And how these influencer poisen the synth community so that you have thoughts like that. But don't be worried. No matter how many muse are sold most buyers are skilless idiots who are happy just to own it. Then they play a preset every week and in a few month the next thing is hyped and they want to buy that and the muse is just another synth in half a year or a year. Better make music and ignore these youtubers. Most of the can talk.but they can't make sounds. Even guys like starskey do so big failures in their videos and noone seems to notice. What do you think do people do with the muse? Not much. Filter sweeps, play factory patches or they make some simple sounds which impresss simple people very much because they don't know better. Enough time for you to make something great and don't give a fuck what youtubers say. The muse is present maybe two times than its vanished on all big channels. End if the story. These newbie synthtuber are just copys of copys talk about sensless unimportant stuff and you should leave them behind.
@@markus6409 Hehe very true. I will probably buy one at some point when the hype has died down. The synthfluencer community reminds me of QVC or the Home Shopping Network of the 90s mutated to a new platform and social media. Sham Wow!! And yes you are right, I can imagine a lot of tech bros buying these things to have in their $1.5m one bedroom studio apartments to impress their guests at a soy latte party. Hahaha, what a world!!
The deluge is a polysynth btw.
Ha, youre not wrong but so is my phone with an app pulled up. Had to draw a line somewhere.
I think you hit the key point early in this "not feeling it" commentary. You said the Muse and Labyrinth don't fit your work flow. As with any product but particularly with musical instruments if they don't fit your use case or indeed you just don't "feel it" nothing is going to change your mind. I watched Andrew Huangs Labyrinth video ruclips.net/video/ej2jLErKsWc/видео.html and aside from the title stating "Their best release in years" it was really just a run through of the synth, how it's unique in the Moog ecosystem and how it worked well in HIS work flow. Not saying you are wrong in how you feel about the synths or Moogs marketing. It always comes down to our personal preferences.
Honestly, not fitting my workflow has never stopped me before from trying stuff. The marketing just helped me move where I want to be anyway, which is being content with my already amazing rig.
complaining about synthfluencers while making synthfluencing videos (which like it or not is exactly what this is) is just absurd to me. it becomes more glaring when talking about not wanting a poly analog because its not a rompler... what? lol. and then complaining that it needs to be a more "distinguished character" synth... without having ever played it. I see this sort of content as no better than shill content to be honest. its an opinion piece that lacks self awareness or perspective. not trying to sh*t in your stew but come on you mention wanting something like an ob6 ... how is that any different than a muse in terms of what the product actually is. how do those have "more character" ...
It’s an irony he addressed in the video…
Yes, I recognized the slight irony in releasing a YT video to complain about YT vids 😆. My experience is that for analog synths, the character decreases proportionally with the complexity. Maybe the Muse bucks that trend ... it's all personal preference anyway. And I've had three OB6 and a Juno 106 that I loved the sound but still didn't keep them. Not seeing why Muse would be diff for my personal preference.
@@MKDVBI bought the muse because I loved the sound of the matriarch but struggled with the paraphony. The muse and the matriarch have a lot of common ground in their components, vco, vca, filters etc. I was also just annoyed by the leaks and feeling stupid because the lack of information from moog in the start, but that does not actually affect the instrument itself. Right now you kind of let the influencers get to you 😘 It is a great instrument, and for me it is what I missed with the matriarch. (I have also owned the prophet x, juno 106, OB6 as a reference by the way, and of course you know they are no better or worse than the muse) I love the "philosopying" in your video, though 🫶🏼 Food for thought for all of us 🙏🏻
If you can solder, the MIDIbox Seq v4 is at least as powerful, much easier to build than it looks like, has many more features broken out to dedicated controls (depending on the panel design; the V4+ layout is kind of Cirklon inspired has more menu diving than the older layouts), and pretty inexpensive depending on the choices you Make for the enclosure. I went with milled aluminum for a standard front panel and self-designed rear panel and it almost doubled the cost of the build (but it was still only around $600 total). I've looked at the Cirklon a lot over the years. It's obviously a really high quality sequencer but even if the price and wait time weren't prohibitive there's just too much menu diving for me (and I'm a big Octatrack user, so that's saying something). Those buttons seem really nice, though.
Thanks for the tip. I'm very basic when it comes to soldering. Cirklon probably isnt more menu divey than Octa but Elektron boxes are more intuitive and consistent which helps alot.
Synth Mafia 💰 vs Synth Renegades 💀
