    Hey bud, amazing videos. I’m very new to midi and midi clocks but you are starting to open my eyes!
    Say hypothetically I had only one chase bliss pedal on my board, could I negate the need for the midi box and run a midi clock patch from the microcosm? Say - microcosm (thru) Strymon timeline (thru) line 6 DL4 (into) mood or rev mode c?
    Then if I want to run both 2 chase bliss pedals I’d need the midi box 4? Is that all right? Looking forward to your reply. Cheers.

      Chase Bliss requires midi over TRS so you need some way to convert 5-pin to TRS. There are several ways to do this including a 5-pin to TRS cable.

      @@thepedalcollaborativethanks for your reply, really appreciate it.
      So to get this straight - I could possibly run midi thru the timeline AND line 6, and then into a chase bliss pedal or boss sl2 at the end of the midi chain (providing I have the correct midi cable for the final pedal)?

    Hey ! Thanks for the video ! Do the Chase bliss pedals receive midi clock automatically or do you have to do a particular manipulation ?

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  3 месяца назад +1

      Hey there, great question! The Chase Bliss pedals receive MIDI clock automatically, so there’s nothing you have to do. You just have to make sure you’re sending MIDI over a Ring Active MIDI controller. I use the Disaster Area MIDI Box, but other companies make ones as well.

      @@thepedalcollaborative thanks for the answer, I have the Chase Bliss midibox so I guess it should do the trick, right ? Will the microcosm pass on midi clock from an external device (Elektron Syntakt) ?

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  3 месяца назад

      @mrthingamabob8117 oh yeah then if you have the Chase Bliss box you’re golden! The Microcosm passes MIDI thru automatically, but you can change the global setting to deactivate sending its own clock and just transmit through the clock it receives. Hope that helps!

    Thank You! I’m just about to implement midi on my board’s 😊 I have the Morning Star MC6 for midi controller. This was a great confidence booster as well as a tutorial… the way you explained it was exactly what I thought the process would be… including the Chase Bliss using the opposite tip/ring on the TRS cable than MOST other companies 😅. It’ll be a HUGE improvement in my playing and writing material - the ability to save patches on pedal’s that don’t have normal access and expand other’s. Clock will be inspiring and well as time saving, ALSO using midi to load patches onto the LVX from Patchstorage that other’s have shared! The Zoia community there is awesome - hoping the LVX will keep growing as it’s off to a good start!
    Thank You for taking the time to share your knowledge of this process!

      You’re totally welcome! The MC6 is amazing and you’ll be able to do lots of fun midi stuff! I like using a button to latch all the freeze functions on all the pedals at once but that’s just me ;)
      Happy playing and thanks for commenting and watching!

    Hey thank you so much for showing this. I have one of those spaceship boards and now I'm trying to think of a solution to sync up all of my tap tempos without adding more space to the board. Do you need a midi controller (like an MC6) to sync up everything or could I just use the Microcosm (as the midi controller) and the Midi box for the midi clock sync? And would I have the option of overriding the midi clock on any of the devices like once I sync them all up what if I decide to take the habit or the LVX on a different tempo?

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hey there! Congrats on your spaceship board! They're so much fun! Ok, so you don't NEED something like the MC6. The Microcosm will send midi clock out, which is universal across all 16 channels. The midi box would be for TRS midi like Chase Bliss. The only way to have a pedal ignore midi clock is if there is a way to set that up in the individual pedals. I know the LVX and MercuryX have that option. The Chase Bliss stuff would need a Midi CC message sent to the right channel to have them ignore the midi clock, and for that you WOULD need more than just the microcosm. A DAW or the MC6 that could send CC messages would be needed. Hope that helps!

    Hello! If you just want to send tap tempo via midi to the lvx without the disaster area box, would it work? In other words, no 1/4 midi pedals in the equation. Please let me know, thanks!

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  Месяц назад

      The Microcosm sends the midi clock via 5-pin, so connect a 5-pin to the midi out of the microcosm and the other end to the midi in of the lvx and you’re good! Just be mindful of the globals settings and if the lvx is set to listen or ignore midi clock

    • @thepedalcollaborative

      Make sure the subdivisions aren’t set to send faster than the bpm you’re wanting to send. The time/tempo knob affects the clock

      So glad it was helpful! I connect to my computer through my Audient Sono interface. Since I do mostly stereo stuff I need a 2-in interface. The Sono is 2-in but expandable via SPDIF/ADAT
      I don’t connect GarageBand into the midi chain but could with a USB-midi interface like the iConnectivity Mio, which I use to connect my OP-1 Field to the midi chain
      Any other questions let me know! Happy to help 😃

    You have excellent tastes in pedals :3
    I personally have the Microcosm, Habit, Empress Reverb, and Generation loss myself (and a really boring compressor pedal but he's getting sold soon cause he's too boring =w=). I'm hoping to pick up the Mood later this year cause of how pretty it sounds

    • @thepedalcollaborative

      Thank you! I enjoy the vast array of sounds these pedals can make! For reverb I’m using the Strymon Nightsky as my main and have Reverb in deck from from pedals like the EQD Avalanche Run, Mood Mkii, Microcosm, Walrus M1, etc.
      Don’t discount the “boring” but necessary pedals like compression. I tend to always have one on (Barber Tone Press) because it helps craft my clean tone the way I want!
      Get the Mood Mkii when the time suits you. It’s absolutely incredible!!

      @@thepedalcollaborative that's what I thought would happen too but it's so inconsistent with the clock coming into my Microcosm it is hard to nail down. The light might be post time manipulation. I was able to confirm midi works though with the synth mode and my midi keyboard. Just need to figure out what parameters would syncopate up. The inconsistent nature is kind of what makes this fit so well in the mix for me. Like when the clock is present it's just enough and not too much.
      How that makes sense. Lol
