I do wish the Mixamp had a mute button on it. My favorite part is having it linked to my PC and being able to control the balance between my XSX, PS5 and PC.
I've done some experimenting with the mixamp with and without optical (from my tv) and I came to the same conclusion you did. Its seems to be slightly better, to my untrained ears, with optical. But I found the Dolby Atmos app makes the most noticeable changes to either setup. Also slightly from game to game. As you know when using optical and PC mode, you can use the EQs on the mixamp. I don't know anything about EQ settings so I use the neutral one, all in the middle, and rely on the Dolby Atmos app. I'd be interesting in learning but looking for videos in the hopes of finding one that goes through all the sliders and explains what they do, they're all obsessed with foot steps. Personally I'm more concerned with enjoying environmental sounds and voices, so I tend to just use the Movie setting on the Atmos app and set it to Balanced. But I don't really know if that's the best one. I've noticed you've made one so I'll try that. Thanks again for all your help. Hey you are most welcome bro! I know what you mean about footsteps, I myself prefer the whole ambient experience where fire direction, friendly call outs and even sounds of different weapons make it immersive and give you a competitive edge. So far the mixamp is my favourite audio experience on Xbox. For the EQ, it really depends on the headset you are using, if a headset is very bright and shooting your gun makes you want to lower the volume, you can eq that so it’s not too harsh. I myself prefer a balanced neutral sound and as it happens a lot of gaming headsets tend to be not so flat. My everyday drivers are the epos H6 pro open and sennheiser HD598. Both of them have bass under control and not over bearing.

Hey the new consoles don’t have optical ports but you can use HDMI optical extractor, this way you feed the device with true 5.1 optical signal than then gets processed by the device. Also over USB the hdmi audio mode gets locked to headset format and getting hdmi Dolby digital means you need to power the device separately and use a hdmi audio extractor on the series s/x. I did try the optical setup with Dolby access and compared to usb, I found the optical sound processed by console with Dolby access was only 5-10% clearer I’d say. So I ended up using the usb connection only with Dolby access app using performance mode.
@@thephototechy Thanks again. I appreciate it. I don't have the confidence or knowledge to experiment with things, not knowing what I'm doing, but my OCD compells me to fiddle endlessly, to the point I can't relax and enjoy the game. So this advice helps a lot.
Bro please help, mine won’t update i’ve even contacted support

Have you fixed it yet?
@@strengthculture4030 Nope
@@BEAZM0DEdid you try using the Astro command center in the Microsoft store?
Does the mic work when doing this?
Will this work with my vzr model one?!
Woah man that headset is on my radar, can’t afford it atm though 😂. Yes this would work with any headset that has 3.5mm connector. TBH honest any good wired headset on Xbox needs this.
I’m about to shoot the comparison of Astro mixamp vs the steelseries gamedac gen2 very soon.
@@thephototechy sweet! I’ll sub and watch! Yeah I really really need to get a better balance of chat/game volume for when I’m on apex. The chat volume has been too loud and fake not loud enough plus I’m sure it’ll make it better all around!
