$52 for a plain pizza at Fontainebleau food court, $40 parking on the strip. Wouldn't surprise me if they put a water meter on the toilets in the rooms and start charging $5 a flush. No wonder gaming is down. The future is bright for tribal casinos where the parking is free and food prices offer value.

Many of those "tribal" casinos are managed by the big casino companies (Caesars & MGM). Also, tribal casinos are often unregulated and may have lower slot paybacks and rigged games (eg short shoes, unbalanced roulette wheels).

I work at a Tribal casino. The largest in WA. We are totally self managed. Our liquor license is tied to the gaming license so everything we do Is very much above board and in compliance with state regulations. If we lost one-we would lose the other. One thing I’ve not heard much of mentioned in MSM is that several tribal casinos have been victim of cyberattacks over the past few months.

Lol...not even comps will bring me back to the strip. The outrageous prices/fees & diminishing value not only offset the comps, but also upset the mood. Been going to local casinos for a while now...much better value & encourages a much better spirit : ).

The one time I stayed at bellagio in the spa tower, the shower handle came off when I went to test the water pressure. I immediately called maintenance because I didn’t want to get accused or charged with breaking it. After a 45 minute wait, it got fixed and I got a $50 food/beverage credit.

Assumed someone would have mentioned this, but I suppose not. One big reason the check-in lines at Caesar's properties are so long is because THEY penny-pinch a $25+ early check-in fee if you check in before 4:00 PM even if your room is already clean and sitting there; consequently, most people wait until that time to check causing the bottle necks at all their counters.
Many MGM properties (and others) will allow an early check in (no extra cost) if you're room is ready. If it's not, they take your phone number and text you when it's ready--this falls under excellent customer service. Since the Caesar's properties were purchased, the new owners have cut services, lowered tier status benefits (remember Diamond Lounges with unlimited drinks and free food?). My friend complained to me after waiting in a check-in line at the Flamingo for almost an hour, when he finally got to the check in desk and asked for a water. The clerk gave him one of those small bottles and said it was $2. WTF?

Yes, it's obviously not a high end hotel but every time I have managed to get an acceptable room which is clean but showing some wear and tear. It is no surprise that gaming revenue is down and may continue that trend. The cost of just being in Vegas , rooms, food, resort fees poor comp programs
etc has increased to a point that average players have less to gamble with.
My last trip Sept 2019BC it was still reasonable financially. I used to go 1 or 2 times a year from Canada, and I don’t need to go into the cost of buying USD, which puts us down 30+- %off the top. Today the costs are non sustainable for the average player, now,you have to chose your entertainment more precisely, therefore gambling dollars decrease and you attract more non gamblers as patrons. Big money player are not what keeps Vegas going, it I used to be the hundreds of
Small time players who come , play $5000 to $100,000+- during their stay, they used to get good room comps, food credits and the hospitality was great, not today. I have been to Vegas 49+ times from 1978 the glory days is to bad to 2019 and may not be back, it is too bad to see how corporate greed is destroying the vibe of Vagas.
Disneyland should move to Vegas and make it final.

Diamond at ceasers isn’t difficult to get if you concentrate your play during the 5x and 10x tier multiplier time periods. Of course the benefits of being diamond is not nearly as good anymore

The unfortunate truth is that *some casinos outside of Vegas offer better games.* Vegas used to offer better games (eg blackjack with surrender, single zero roulette, 10X odds on craps, etc.). Now, Vegas gaming is about the same, or even *worse* than local casinos (eg 6 to 5 blackjack, triple zero roulette, double odds on craps/crapless craps).

I’m not surprised revenue in Downtown Las Vegas is declining. When your core clientele are massive drinkers, they spend most of their time drinking, sleeping, and recovering from hangovers. I like how the Plaza and Circa operate, and the Cal is small and friendly, but there’s no other place worth spending time on Fremont Street while trying to avoid drunks, pickpockets and druggies.

I just got back from Atlantic city and i noticed that the three Caesars casinos there have changed their room rates to under $100 per night (all in, resort fees, taxes) from Sunday to Thursday and have $15 min blackjack. I wonder whether they are changing their philosophy across all of their properties including Vegas as i noticed their AC casinos were busier than usual for this time of year, as it is not yet prime time in Atlantic city. It seems like they are trying to fill up the rooms to get more gamblers in the casinos. It seems like Golden Nugget and Ballys in Atlantic city are matching Caesars with hotel rate price drops. Perhaps this strategy change is going to spread to Vegas. Parking at Caesars AC is free with 10 points from gambling (it takes about 10 minutes of video poker). Perhaps Caesars will do this in Vegas as well?

At best, you need 2 breaks at Barstow and Baker although I take additional breaks at Victorville and Primm. Usually, I drive leisurely 6 hours trip. So to get there in 2 hours 10 minutes from Rancho Cucamongo is a game changer. It makes it possible to continue to play in Vegas into the evening instead of leaving early morning to beat the traffic. Non-compete has to be very geographic, industry, job-function and time-period specific to be enforceable. Any too broad or unspecific items in those areas will render a non-compete null and void. Also terminations usually render any non-compete much less and close to NOT enforceable in most states. I was told by employment lawyers that most judges will grant motion to dismiss for termination-based non-compete lawsuits and most companies would not even consider suing for terminated employees. Non-compete is mostly for employee resignation.

Mark loves caulk and Shawn loves Horrors!
I don't know why you'd need a non-compete, a contract should be your non-compete! If employee X signs with Wynn for 5 years at $500,000/yr he's there until Wynn buys him out, fires him for cause or the employee or new company pays Wynn to poach that employee away. In Mark's father's case the non-compete should have been null and void. After being laid off or fired you're no longer competing, they don't want you!
If a wobbly faucet in a room is the worst thing there it's a great stay!
I've always thought the steak tables look like ying/yang tables.
I like driving to Vegas from California, but the train would be nice if you need to come back during an extended stay and not have to drive. The casinos should subsidize the train ticket prices since they'll obviously be benefiting. It could even be a new comp. Free or discounted round trip with prepaid booking, maybe even free shuttle service from station to hotel.

Cold, corporate calculations versus welcoming, friendly environment. Nickel and diming customers--pay to valet, pay to park, raise those food prices, keep raising those bogus "resort fees," pull almost all VP machines off the casino floor. No wonder gaming numbers are down. But I'm betting Station casino's numbers are up. Why? Because they treat their customers with kindness and respect. They don't charge them to park and they welcome VP players with floors full of VP machines. Guess where my gaming $$ has been going lately?

You said the big wig at Wynn resigned with no real indication of where he was going. I am up in the Northeast and saw in the Boston Globe they are building a Wynn property on the Boston Harbor. There is already an Encore in a suburb of Boston, pretty close to the Boston Harbor, and now here comes the Wynn. I wonder if he is coming East to run the new Boston Harbor Wynn? What a nice relaxing job change that would be! Get out of the Vegas craziness and run a property along a harbor. We don’t have casinos up here, so I find it interesting it’s the Wynn and Encore that are the first. If I were him I would 100% get out of Vegas and enjoy working his pre retirement years by the harbor. I don’t know his name but am curious if it is him. It’s just being built so I don’t know how soon they bring in the big wigs in. It sure would be a much more relaxing job. All the ritzy hotels are down by Boston Harbor but it’s pretty quiet compared to Las Vegas
