You almost NEVER hear of this happening, and the projects typically stay abandoned and rot after so many years of failed attempts and deterioration. Impressive
Atlantic City could be a very nice place with more hotel developments. They just have an issue with blighted abandoned structures which is unfortunate. Speaking of mega projects, Ford Motor Company is supposed to open an 18 story formerly abandoned train station in Detroit, Michigan on June 6, 2024. It has been a 30+ year dream of the Ford Motor Company to renovate Michigan Central Station into a office building and hotel. You might remember that area is nearby where the Southwest Detroit Hospital is sitting abandoned.

I just returned from a 4 night stay at Fontainebleau LV, and that resort is gorgeous! The staff were wonderful to deal with, and dined at several great restaurants around the resort. I highly recommend Mother Wolf and Miami Slice as my favourite restaurants.
I just stayed at the FB for a conference and… it was fantastic. The restaurants were great, the space was remarkably quiet in its luxury, and the staff were incredible. Washing Potato was fantastic.
I stayed there earlier this month. I really liked the room and the view. The food was great at 4 different restaurants I tried. The conference center did what a conference center is supposed to do. The Bleu Bar had great service and cocktails.

The Fontainebleau being incomplete always bugged me as a kid every time I would visit Vegas. Now that I’m 24years young I’m definitely going to visit it this year.
I was a kid back in 2010 when it had an incomplete glass cladding. This building is so huge and the tallest one. It wasn't its time back then to operate, now after setbacks, this blue themed resort is actually unique with spacious rooms than Palazzo.
I remember the first time I laid my eyes on an abandoned and creepy building right across the Travelodge my family and I were staying in during our road trip from Denver to LA in July of 2008. After years of being annoyed and kinda disgusted at the amount of waste that building was becoming, I am now working there. It's kind of crazy, who would've thought.
I worked construction in FB for over a year and a half. It was a nightmare for everyone involved with deadlines that were barely met. They were still working on the top floors when they opened.
The logo on that building was originally created to show case itself of what will soon to be the “new fountain blue.” I was told at my job (where me and one other person cut those pieces out) that it was going to be installed to advertise its grand opening on new years when TV’s around the world would panel on that end of the strip. It was made out of Vinyl with no lamination believe it or not. Surprised they were able to remove it without the windows falling or ripping off little by little pieces due to the extreme weather
Holy shit! I grew in Vegas and I remember this building just being an eyesore at the end of the strip every time I would go pick up my mom from work. I can’t believe it’s actually finished and open. Thanks for the video!

A wonderful looking place. It's very upscale. I play there but don't stay there/ The place was pretty empty, but with The Mirage closing 3 years, and the recent tropicana closure, there are an extra 6,000 rooms available! I watch all your content!

Because they all have absurd margins. They are like mattress stores, their product costs virtually nothing to make so if they sell a few products a week they can pay their labor and rent. If they sell more than that it’s all profit. Out of 3000 rooms they are going to get a couple sales. Vegas only exists to pick your pockets
The same thing happens with "boardwalk" areas at ocean-side resort towns. It's the same t-shirt shop, candy shop, beachwear shop repeated 20 times down the boardwalk. If you've walked 100 feet on most boardwalks you've basically experienced the whole thing.

Love the abandoned content and really appreciated this video. However, it's tough to evaluate a casino hotel and it's place in Las Vegas on your first trip to Las Vegas. There is no better location than where the Bellagio is on the strip, it will always be full as an icon at nearly the heart of the Strip. The Resorts World and now FB are pushing the strip north and it's still kind of crummy with Circus Circus and other lesser properties working against them. Also, it takes time to fill those retail spaces. I'm not promoting FB, but only 4/5 months in no space is 100% full, it needs time and as a Vegas aficionado I'm pulling for the property. Keep up the great work!
Going with what you said about the AC units, another thing that’s interesting is the elevators here. They were installed back in around 2007 or maybe even before that. They were sitting, fully installed or almost fully installed for 15 years. They had to modernize them before the hotel opened, but they kept a lot of the old parts and added new parts.
thanks for the update, glad to see it is done, went to Vegas during Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival and saw both of those towers, and thought of your videos seeing them XD
As someone who has been going to Vegas 2-4x a year since 1994, I too am shocked and amazed this project finally opened. Turned out mighty nice honestly given its history
Hey, I've been binge watching your back catalog and almost every video i had to resub to your channel. RUclips kept unsubbing me. Thought you should know. Good content.
When I visited Las Vegas in late December just before Christmas I walked to the Fontainebleau. I signed up for a player's card and racked up some decent points and managed not to lose money. There's not too much near it except Circus Circus and Resorts World. They've had at least three or four high-level Executives leave already. Then they had nachogate. I don't know that I would go out of my way to go there again
I always think about being a retail worker in these quite desolate places. Like I think I'd go slightly insane being in a mostly empty concrete maze with no windows.
Great info! Had no idea about the history. Stayed at this hotel recently for a great price on a Sunday. This might answer why I felt the TV's in the room were dated with no chromecast capabilities or smart apps installed. Assuming they did the deal like a decade back and had many of the items stored away until it officially opened. 🤔
So wild. I've been visiting Vegas frequently since 2013 and would always see it when it was an eyesore imagining what could have been. To see it operating after so many years is mind blowing. I'm looking forward to visiting it next month
I’m so so excited to get back to Vegas and see this place full of life!!! Abandonment structures have always been interesting to me and Vegas is my happy place so naturally I’ve been obsessed with the Fontainebleau for years now. If feels like a child of mine😭
I am happy that it made it back to life. Was driving by that place the last 10 years and always wondered if it ever will get finished. However, the City Center complex, would still be way more expensive at todays money and actually does look way more modern.
The interior design is quite nice. I was expecting an incredibly generic “modern” design (aka a random hodgepodge of fancy things that’ll likely to appeal to most of the Vegas crowd), but it really doesn’t seem that way. It weaves together modern and more classical elements much better than most casino hotels nowadays. I can see it being decently successful, especially with all the marketing.
I was just in Las Vegas last week for work and didn't get a chance to check out Fontainebleau. It looks really nice lit up at night from the Westgate. It's a crazy 17 year journey for that hotel though. I'd like to think of it as the oldest new resort in Las Vegas. The North end of the strip seems to have a bit of a cloud around it given the struggles with both FB and RW to finally open. I've stayed a RW a couple times since its opening and I really like it, and even sneak my way over there for the cigar lounge even when I'm not a hotel guest. Nothing wrong with more rooms coming online in Las Vegas.
Good news indeed. There is something sad when buildings fail to make it at all. Such waste. I remember your 2021 video and since I liked the look of the design it stayed with me thank you for the update.
Nice to once see an abandoned building being finished after all. Because usually it's financially such a huge task, almost like building it all new from scrap, that it just not worth it. There must have been some deeeeep pockets they could open up! Thanks for the update!

I have watched many of your videos and it is heartwarming to see a project actually open. So many of your stories show projects that cost a lot of money and are never finished which is such a waste of time
I was in vegas last month for a big poker tourney and was gonna stop and check it out to tell you. glad you enjoyed it. The blue lights at the top of the resort definitly stand out on the strip. salute!
I really enjoy your updates. It’s fun to see what happens to these places that have so much potential.
Excellent update, Jake
Remember seeing ads for this at DFW International, was surprised since I remember your other video
You know what the most impressive thing to me is about all of this? I *live* in Vegas 2/3rds of the year, and I had no idea they had re-started construction and that it had opened 3 months ago. (Granted I only go to the strip about once every 3 months, but *still* I feel like this is something I would have heard about over the last year.
Local here, I stayed at this hotel and it was well worth the wait! I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
I’ve been waiting for your video on this, you never disappoint
It's pronounced "Font + ay + ne + blo". City in the south of Paris with a beautiful forest and a magnificent castle. ;-)
I thought I was watching Bright Sun Travels lol that's not a bad thing cause really I think an episode is needed for both Vegas hotels now that they're open!
Thanks for the update. Great video as always.
Every single "fountain blue" had me wincing.
Yeah, actually painful 😅
He really likes putting the letter U in words that don't have them. Fountain instead of Fontaine, Fairmount instead of Fairmont
That’s how everybody says it
How do you pronounce it?
@katesclabassi3857 in English it would be pronounced fon-tane blue. Not fountain. There isn't even a U in Fontaine
Nicely done, I drive past it 5 times a week. Didn’t know it was open until just now with your video. Never gave it a second thought.. thanks for sharing this story..😊

Thanks for watching!
We were waiting for this update, Awsome! Enjoyed your Disney price update the other day as well. Keep up the great work Sir
Hey, I've been binge watching your back catalog and almost every video i had to resub to your channel. RUclips kept unsubbing me. Thought you should know. Good content.
I'll totally consider getting a room here next time I go! I'm seeing a lot of rooms with a view of the sphere, and I'm sold on that alone.
Thanks so much for this update!
Thanks for the update on this old /new hotel !!!!!
As a Las Vegas resident, I didn't even know this opened. Shows you how much I keep up with the local area. Neat!
I just saw a commercial for the hotel today and instantly thought of your video.
Was just there a few weeks back. It is gorgeous
Thank you for this update. For some oddball reason, I was just wondering the other day what happened to this.
Loved this video! Keep it up!!! 😍
I always think about being a retail worker in these quite desolate places. Like I think I'd go slightly insane being in a mostly empty concrete maze with no windows.
Amazing. I hope it becomes successful.
Absolutely amazing city!
I’m so glad they made it happen. It felt like such a waste sitting there empty.
Great input, thank you!
Aaaaaaaaah! It is here. The video I was awaiting for the evening here in CET. x'3
