      The prices at their food court are actually pretty reasonable relative to the Strip as a whole. Obviously anything on the Strip is going to be more expensive than what's along Maryland Parkway or Valley View Boulevard, but when sized up to the food court prices in other five-star resorts and even three-and-a-half to four-star resort food courts on the Strip............they're actually decently priced.

    My understanding is that the reason why the Berlin Wall is used as a backdrop for a urinal is the fact that people used to pee on the Berlin wall In Germany as a way to express their disgust at the existence of the wall.

    Dicks had a location in San Diego in the Gaslamp District and they closed without telling the employees. Literally, one day they were open and the next day, they were closed and equipment and stuff was removed. Did not tell the employees - who only found out when they came into work, and it was closed and locked. A real Dicks move.

    You guys should talk to the Neon Museum and do an MTM meetup special event there as a fundraiser for the museum. They do that kind of thing all the time - you can have catering, beverages, they've even had some cool local music like Thee Swank Bastards from golden tiki at one event we went to. I’ve climbed Angels Landing three times - the first time was in 1998, and there was almost nobody on the trail. When we got to the top, there was just an old dude up there peeing off the edge. The second time there were a lot more people in that made it more challenging. Most recently it was very crowded. And the trail is very slow and kind of dangerous as a result. There was one spot where a guy’s girlfriend was holding onto the chains and wouldn’t let go and the only way to get by was to get around her and there was a 1500 foot drop behind her so that was not easy. She wasn’t there on the way back down so I guess he managed to get her to move. Anyway, Angel Landing is awesome but there are many other hikes in Zion that are also very scenic and a lot less dangerous.

    In 2007 I hiked Angels Landing with my daughter when she was 11 years old and she was just wearing tennis shoes, not hiking boots. I had no idea how scary this hike would be till we got to the section where its very narrow with a big drop on both sides. The worst part was when you passed people going the other way and you have to let go of the chain for a moment to pass. She was completely fearless the whole way!

    I've lived in Utah my whole life and have done Angel's Landing hike in Zion NP many times. It really is as scary as it looks, and just as beautiful. If someone wants to do the hike but avoid the scary part, they can get very nearly to the top and just turn around at the chains. You'll miss out on the epic 360° views, but you won't risk dying :)
    Also, it's quite a workout so come in decent shape, with lots of water.

    My wife likes the outdoors and does not gamble much at all. I made the mistake of taking her to Red Rock and Mt Charleston a few trips back.
    Now she says we have to go every time we hit Vegas. It is pretty out there, but it sure is cramping my time at the tables. (She needs a daytime boyfriend that will go hike with her while I occupy myself in the casino.) 😎🤣
    I told her the solution was going to be for us to stay 8 nights or more now (we both get 4 comp nights each), so we can do her hiking crap for 2-3 days and I still get to carry on with my degenerate ways.

      The commercials are also running here in Northern California. To be honest the ad looks too commercialized fake and like an unreal experience. It looks beautiful inside but so many bad reviews of service and food (which has devalued the location in Vegas). This hotel is either broke or does not have enough funding or experience especially fighting with Wynn. I will deduct one star immediately for fighting with Wynn. Regarding that story you wrote about Atlantis. I stayed at Atlantis in December of 2019. It is amazing what my experience was compared to yours. I did not use the free room option through Ceasers (not even sure they had it then) but I was pretty sure they would comp it all anyway after some late nights in the casino and I ended up being correct. We had a blast in that water park and you are correct the not lazy river is a great time! All said I am a regular traveler and we are heading to Vegas next week and staying at Wynn. I do know what a nice place is and did not see the decay you did when we where there. After the ordeal you had I am pretty sure if I go back to Nassau I would go to Baha Mar. We visited it when we where there, it had not been open very long and was super nice.
    Either way I am super sad about Atlantis because I do have fond memories of our visit and was planning on going once again in the next year or 2 because of the deal I could have gotten with the seven stars card.

    Considering that a deli sandwich in Vegas now costs $18, I shudder to think what Atlantis is charging - $40?

    • @Milestomemories
      @Milestomemories  3 месяца назад +1

      Yeah the food at Atlantis is other worldly expensive. Funny thing with Margaritaville in the news, that is normally our go to there for dinner at least one night. They do have a mall out there now and some decent options that don't kill you (full service restaurants are ridiculous), but there is no cheap way to eat at Atlantis.
      I LOVE the pools and water park even if the maintenance had been let go. I probably will go back at some point, but Nassau just doesn't do it for me on any level. I have also been to Baha Mar and like the hotel MUCH better, but its not enough to get me to jump on an airplane. Much better beach destinations I think and from the West Coast Hawaii is simpler too. The last few times we have docked in Nassau on a cruise we haven't even left the ship either. I am sort of over that place, but did really enjoy Bimini.

    As an F1 fan for over 20 years, when it comes to F1 & Vegas, I really think that if this year's race does not do well for whatever reason, it will be dropped from the schedule. There is precedent for this in the past as races in both South Korea & India were dropped after a few years due to declining attendance. Another reason why Vegas would be dropped is because F1 is starting to realize that the popularity of the sport in the US is starting to decline (especially when it comes to TV viewership) to the point where I think they will reduce the number of races in the US from 3 to 1 (likely keeping the US GP at Austin) in the next few years. If Vegas wants to remain on the F1 schedule, they need to have both a good race & decent attendance this year.

      @Milestomemories  3 месяца назад

      It is very interesting. I do expect we will get at least the 3rd year, but I could totally see it ending after that. One interesting thing about F1 is that pit building. They could leave the market from a race perspective and still use it as an F1 museum/tourist attraction, but they did sink a lot of money into that building.

    Fontainebleau's new offer is basically printing money and stealing! I'm quite impressed by it to the point where I almost considered changing my August trip to late July instead (I ultimately decided to keep my August trip because my offer then was also solid and I like having some breathing space between my EDC trip and my trip after that).........but yeah: it's an early sign they're already pivoting their approach to court more mid-rollers as well, not just high-rollers. 🙂
    The wide open spaces and natural parks is honestly one of the main reasons I'm planning to move to Vegas. I love the juxtaposition between the centralized glitz and glamour but also requiring no more than half an hour to reach the outskirts and explore them to my heart's content! It's somehow, in my opinion, the single most underrated aspect of Vegas life. 😊

    If you go to a reputable supplier any cactus that is indigenous to this area, especially the red barrel cactus, is sold with a special tag to show it came from a legit source and wasn't stolen from the desert or somewhere else. I believe it is actually illegal to sell them without the tags. If anyone is trying to sell you a local cactus like a red barrel and it doesn't have a tag please don't buy it.

    Angels Landing isn't a difficult or dangerous hike, you just have to not be stupid on it. I would avoid it in inclement weather and wouldn't bring kids, but otherwise it's an incredible and fairly accessible hike.

    I have an off-topic question. I saw a video on social media where the slot machine had the option to transfer money from an account directly into the machine. I took some screenshots. Can't locate the video now. It was unclear where he was, even if he was in vegas. He was making $750 bets on a slot machine. Is this even allowed in vegas?
    Thanks!

    • @Milestomemories
      @Milestomemories  4 месяца назад +1

      No I don't think it is allowed under state law but there have been proposals for it. I will say there are some cashless systems that allow you to transfer to your casino account directly from your phone. Stations has that for example as does Resorts World. One more step than loading direct to the machine, but essentially the same thing. Some casinos ATMs also allow you to get the money directly as a gaming voucher which I think is a little too much as well.

      Yeah everything is "normal" as of now. Took about a month to tear down each (maybe a little longer for F1). They say F1 construction will start about 3 months out so that should be about August sometime.

    • @markostermann6632

      Locals still get room offers etc. will just depend on your level of gambling.

    • @Milestomemories
      @Milestomemories  3 месяца назад +1

      It depends, but anecdotally we get less offers than others, but one thing I have learned is that often people play more than they say so it is hard to compare. I know with MGM/Caesars we almost never got offers when others I know well who had similar levels of play got them. One reason we don't really spend money there anymore. Cosmo is great with locals comp offers as long as they are still independent.

Do you think their contempt for you is because they are probably paid poorly, and to them you are an entitled rich American? They are not connecting the dots. Tourists are funding their paycheck. What can you do if asking for a manager or supervisor and they don’t care either?

      I'm not sure and it is one of the cases where I had to use my social media reach to get a resolution. I suppose without that I could have gone to the desk during the day and found a manager. I just think she was a really rude person. One of the few people I have ever interacted with who just needed to be fired or transferred away from customers. It has been 4 years and they have spent money supposedly to fix it up so I do have hopes things are better.

    All you comments about the reward programs makes me nauseous on how ridiculous and complicated it has become. As a mob guy said tome once in 1978, “they come here for a good time, we want to give it to them, the more they eat, the more they drink, the more the win , the more they spend, we get it all back and more. Don’t I hop and dime people, it’s not good for business. And, hey, when they leave with little or know money, they’re happy, why, because the food and booze was cheap and they hit a small jackpot or two, meanwhile we have their money”.
