    You should show more complex geometry, problems dont arise when youre straightening something simple.

      Do you mean if the polygons are more curved and maybe different sizes?

      Did you watch the one I recently posted? Maybe it will help you…

      Curved Mesh into Straight UVS”

      @@uistudios In some sense yes, but not entirely. I mean for example lets say youre making a bookshelf and you bevel all the edges, when you break the model down into sections and unfold them it creates a curve naturally in the object. This is what straightening solves obviously, but what follows the straighten is now you have distortion in your map. Even when its something like a pipe, unfolding and then straightening will cause distortion sometimes.

      @@vizardshi1863 yes I think some distortion will usually happen in complex situations, but you can always attempt to minimize it by cleverly cut the uvs.

    where is this uv toolkit?

      Hey 👋 When you open the UV EDITOR go to the top menu within the Editor and click on TOOLS > Show UV Toolkit. You should see it appear, I like to drag it into the UV EDITOR interface and park it on the side so they open together. Also Save your WORKSPACE layout in the very top right to save your interface preferences as you drag stuff around 😎

    im trying this on a bottle and it doesnt work

      For the bottle, split the body where the label goes into a separate section… don’t do it as one solid unwrap

    why should I straighten uvs in the first place?

    • @uistudios
      @uistudios  Год назад +1

      Hey, this is usually a good idea if you need to apply a very specific seamless texture in Substance Painter. Like stripes for example or some kind of pattern that requires clean straight seamless uvs :)
