Very clear, concise video without all the unnecessary padding it out. Even better the links are below video to order the exact same products shown in video. One of best videos I’ve seen on RUclips
I'm pinning that comment! Thank you very much for the compliment it means a lot ! Thank you so much for the comment!
No flashy start, straight to the point. This information is priceless when in a middle of a flight.
This is probably the best video ever done about this topic. Thank You so much!
You're most welcome! Thank you for watching
Yet again another great video. Looking forward to seeing you break the record with the PARAYAGI P2 EXTREME 2.4Ghz extenders!
Thanks Pete! You're links are in my description ! Honestly I know it's going to be beaten they gave such a strong signal ! Hopefully soon me and luke can get on with it!
Have liked and following your channel great advice on this video 😊
Just got a set of each, cant wait to test them, stock i was getting 600m ish so fingers crossed i can get way better but knowing my luck the little bugger will fly off never to be seen again!!
Thanks for the info mate , just lost signal completely , the drone came back to me automatically luckily , in a built up area 👍
Thanks for the video. It’s been very useful. Owing an FCC MM here in the UK (was a present so I’m using it despite the rules naught naughty) I suffered the inevitable software restricting the drone. I’m not really comfortable using a hack with fake GPS on my iPhone and so after watching your range tests I bought the 5.8 Yagi and am blown away by the difference. Thanks buddy...keep up the good work.
Thank you very much! No I don't think I would be comfortable with that either! Glad you found it useful it's really appreciated!

Followed. Brilliant tip.
Liked it. Subscribed. Great job. Thank you!
Thank you very much !
Thank you for video! I gave Mavic Mini and maybe I’m not going high enough but my range is about 350’ at 150’ altitude.
Good info, good job, I'm in. (subbed)
Thanks for the tips. I fly mostly in a heavy urban environment in Canada. I just got the reflectors and have had 1 flight with them.
I think it helped a bit, but I am interested in trying the Yagi. Like # 92!
Glad I could help, thank you for watching the video and the comment!
Your delivery is second to none 🙂✅
Thank you very much
I use yagi antenna and really good to enhance the signal.
Congratulations from Brasil🇧🇷
Indeed and thank you for watching
Great info thanks
Thanks for this very helpful vidéo !

Great great video. You did cut a lot of stories short, but great watch still. I’ve recently got a mavic. Set max height to 120M and it dropped out as soon as it got to it and RTH. Thanks for the recommendations for improving signal.
haha I did say that a lot! you're welcome! hope it works for you
Wow what a great video , thank you
Thank you!
Brilliant video thanks for explaining the signal strength as I was selecting the green signal withe higher level
Absolutely why I wanted to include it in the video! I see so many people thinking the higher the bar means its a better signal when in fact it means more interference ! I am glad you found it useful, Thank you for watching!
Going to try later if the weather is ok. I have also got the reflector as well so going to try with out then with thanks again
Let me know how you get on!
Really helpful advice, thankyou
You're most welcome !
Great review! Now that the M3P is out and having range issues I don't see how you can attach any extender to the new RC controller as there are no external antennas. Let us know if you figure it out please.
This video was very helpful. I will need to watch it again to make sure I clearly understand it. Does this apply to all drones? I fly a Fimi X8 SE 2020 and was wondering if getting a set of range extenders was going to be worth it. Currently I am in Australia but all my flying will be done in Vietnam
I was reading the fcc range , this is my first drone and didn't know there was different versions for different countries , paid £100 used
Hi Gavin, have you seen and tried the RC boost? Look up on YT "mavic mini ce boost" 🙂
Or purchase your WiFi drones from America
I did hear there is an update that has helped the range update been out couple of days now
good video mate very clear and concise I'm still using litchi for my urban flights and used parayagis few weeks ago 5.8ghz while in 2.4 ghz mode and kept furthest connection i have ever had? anyway keep up the good work.
I still think the parabolics anyway are an absolutely amazing piece of kit on their own! Thanks for the huge compliment, turns out I'm going to be trying a X-yagi which I've never seen before ! That should be fun ! Had to get one from Slovenia!
@@GAVINHR x yagi??? sounds interesting
Question why does my drone disconnect when I land 300m away but here's the thing my friends one is the same but clean connection at the same ghz and the same place. Note I was pointing in the same direction as him with the controller
Can you mod the transmitter and use a booster like you can on the bigger DJI drones?
Great video
Thank you for watching
I'm a novice since Xmas I thought the larger the bars the stronger the signal🥴 but had on auto, I got some Yagi but I'm waiting for a nice day when the tides right out, a nice dog walk and fly session from With to easington no people just the odd seagull which I stay away from, great videos pal✌🏼
Crap I got the 5.8 Yagi do I need the 2.4?
Im flying my dji mini SE just mostly set on auto, i live in the countryside and i can only get around 350 - 450m away from my home point before it fully dissconnects - not to mention after 200m the video playback on my phone is super delayed and laggy, is this normal becuase hearing people say theyre getting 1500m away is mad to me and doesnt seem to be possible
Hi if I live in the suburbs in the UK with lots of estates what do you recommend I buy and which transmission is better I still don't really understand what you were really talking about any suggestions?
Thanks for the great information friend 😀

New subscriber" i just bought the mm one in the US good explanation on signal really enjoy this little guy but I bought mine used like new it has the motor covers under propellers are they nessisary? will motors run cooler without them? Thx again for taking time for new flyers
Thank you for the sub I really appreciate it! So in my honest opinion there is no need to have them on, the issue is there is threadlock on the propellor screws which is why you should use new screws every time you replace them if they get damaged etc. Basis the above I would probably leave them on until you need to change your props then at that moment take them off and leave them off. Hope this helps!
Gavin for someone living in London realistically can i get 500m - 1000m from the yagi antenna and if so is 2.4 or 5.8 the one for me? thanks buddy
I have recently brought the alientech power booster antenna and modified my RC, but I am not satisfy with the range. I live in Brooklyn, NY. Lot of interference, but for the price i purchased the antenna i thought i could reach at least 2 miles. Do you have a comment?
How does one check which version you have for example if its second hand?
Great video a lot of information, Thanks, but I have one more question, what if we would use (American version) Fcc remote in Europe, would it extend range of the signal ?
Hi and thanks for watching! Sadly not as there is no hardware differences between the FCC and CE region drones like there was on the Mavic mini it all works on GPS location
Do the yagi range extenders work with dji minni se?
HELP#
HI!
I always fly over the bay at Miami Beach, FL. There is a way to set a "LOW TERRAIN, LOW ALTITUDE WARNING" on the Mavic mini2 or Air 2.
I get very distracted and lost all altitude while moving the left joystick to rotate the drone. A "low altitude warning" would be life-saving for my drone. I could set it to any altitude I want. The idea is to increase altitude if I get below, e.g., 5 or 10 meters. Then prevent it from crashing into the water. I already lost the Mavic mini and the Mavic 2. I can't retrieve them from the bay floor. I am afraid to buy a new one and make the same mistake.
I lost signal with my Mavic Mini about 80 mtrs out, good job RTH kicked in and brought it back, as even with me moving the controller around and pointing it at the drone which i could actually see, it wouldnt reconnect, any ideas what might have caused this? I was near to a pubs beer garden at the time, would mobile phone signals affect it??
Hi gavin
Thanks for your really good videos. I have a Mavic Air which also is wifi only, i struggle to get good video connection beyond 600m, how do you get 1500m with no extenders?
I have not been putting my phone into airplane mode, would that would make a difference? I am going to try range extenders to see if they help.
I do not really want to fly 1000m or more away but i do want a reliable video feed upto 600 -1000m.
Thanks, keep up the good work.
Which sort of environment are you flying? Around a city or out in the countryside? One of the methods will be as I stated in the video, if you are flying in a city select a manual 5.8ghz transmission - one with low signal interference so that's the green bar as low as possible, and for the countryside select a low green one. Make sure you are always pointing the controller toward the drone with the flat sides pointing upwards. Airplane mode in my opinion is a myth so don't worry about that! Sorry if i sound like I'm teaching you to suck eggs I'm just not sure how much you know so trying to cover most bases
Great video, quick question I live in America and have this drone, I'm thinking about getting the yagi + extenders combo, I mostly fly in cities so should I leave the settings as is? Also if I'm flying in a wide area do I have the option to change it to 2.4 for better connection or is it set to the 5 that we have in the US?
Sorry for the late reply - in the US you only have 5.8 on the mini but it has more broadcasting power then our version so you will get a stronger signal more of the time
@@GAVINHR OH alright, thank you
Is it possible to set up some sort of repeater system via the mobile network and enlist the help of your subs to change out the batteries and then fly it right around the entire coast line of the States then maybe the world? lol
Very informative. The other option is to wait and see if the Mavic Mini 2 has Occusync2. Apparently this is quite likely.
Absolutely! I may be a bit late to the party with this video but I figure there will be an influx of new mini one users who may find this useful. If the MM2 has occusync I think that will be a game changer, it will most definitely have 4k and I think it will have to be 249g still. I'm very excited!
I honestly don’t know as it will increase the price range
If it gets occusync and stays around it's original price point with. 4k I will certainly upgrade. Active track would be so useful but there's no chance of that as it takes away from the MA2.
@@GAVINHR yes your video caters for all current mini one owners . The occusync source was from tech drone media channel and he is usually pretty accurate. To be honest I have only had my MM for 6 months. Liltle bit annoyed that after a year they are already upgrading it. Will probably wait a while . The wife will go mad if I upgrade after 6 months. Maybe it will take a nose dive and I can upgrade that way...😂
@@GAVINHR honestly if you are thinking about a new drone in future go for at least the mavic air 2 or the mavic 2 range whole different performance all together
I was giving the mavic mini as a Christmas present last year from my wife.. flew it once screen started to break up and lag put it in the box sold it I fly my mavic 2 pro all the time and in strong winds never had a problem
Mavic Mini is a great we drone no question but it can’t do the work I want to so I use the mavic 2..I’m off the coast line here in Ireland with winds over 30mph
I did the DJI assistant 2 update on my mini 2 and controller yet I still lose signal at 30ft.
Great video
Just a question my handset charges for about three hours shows four lights .
I go to the field it immediately turns on just three ?
Any ideas please
Yes that's fine :) I went into the field on only 2 lights!
@@GAVINHR it's charging your phone while connected. Another plus for the mini 2, that problem is gone. So be sure your phone is well charged before flying.
Wow! I never even noticed that! I always change my phone to over 90% before flying however thank you very much for the tip!
If you are from Europe I would recommend using a fake GPS Spoofer with an older version of DJI fly from an APK file browser, this will switch your drone into FCC mode, you will see only 11 signal bars as apposed to 13, this will help with range a lot.
Its works? Whats the results?
What about using Yagi's and leaving it on auto channel? Would it still improve signal?
It absolutely will! Providing you are using the right frequency yagi antenna for the frequency the drone has chosen on auto the. You're good to go! 👍😊
@@GAVINHR thank you. I've got the same ones you have on the video. Just haven't used them yet👍🏽
@@Through_The_Lens when you get round to it you will find a big difference - I did a follow up video you may also find useful on my channel :) similar sort of thing but just shows how the drone can get the auto channel wrong
Hi
Before your flight you choose Chanel manually but after this are you switch back to auto or you stay whole flight time in manual?? Thx
On the Mavic mini you are locked in so once you take off it's locked to what you put it on
@@GAVINHR
Sorry I didn't mention I have got spark
I've seen various other tips suggest putting your phone into airplane mode. Do you do this?
I think that shuts off notifications mainly. So there isnt any distractions. Nothing to do with range.
How di yaggies connect to drone
A lovely, clear explanation. Its also best to remind viewers that flying beyond 500m is illegal and when you fly at 5000m you are endangering other air users....
Don't forget how long ago this was filmed, there was no restrictions back then providing you was using Spotters in radio contact etc, you only had to have eyes on the general area then whereas now you specifically Habe to be able to see the drone as the remote pilot.
@@GAVINHR I thought line of sight/eyes on, without additional visual aids had been the rule since the days of Phantom 2s and either beyond, or extended VLOS using radios required CAA authority?
Got a range about 400m in urban area at 5.8GHz🫠. Bought both extenders just hope for some more range.
I have a question, how do you change the mode from 2.4ghz to 5.8ghz and vice versa?
All you need to do is go to the settings, click transmission, then click it in to manual then click on the number that has the lowest green bar
@@GAVINHR All right...I have another question. HOW DID YOU MANAGE TO ANSWER ON MY QUESTION IN 30 MINUTES? That shows how determined you are on what you are doing here on RUclips. thats a sub from me dude keep up the good work
Basically because on my channel I try my best to help people - even if that means taking time out of my day to respond. I've often asked for help and never had replies or responses in the past so I was determined to make sure on my channel as answer as much and as quickly as possible. Sometimes I miss comments as yoube randomly filter them out but I try my best. Thanks for the sub it's very much appreciated :)
Hi how do I order these as I don't use FB ? I fly in both urban and country side with the mavrick mini 1. Thanks for the great info
Hi there, which one was you thinking of ordering ? The details for all these are in the video description you can order the parayagis via email and the others are via Amazon :)
Hi the one with them both out together please. Sorry at work so looking on the sly lol. I will look at the email address. Thanks again

Great content and great advice that we should try but I am kind confused. So I bought a Mm two weeks ago and with the update of dji fly 1.1. 8 and 1.1.9 I never saw in the transmition tab any 5.8ghz channels and it only shows channel 1 to 11 So I am from Portugal and in the dji forums here there were others that complained the same in manual mode not to be able to change from 2.4ghz to 5.8ghz due to a bug in this new dgi fly update. Could tell which version of the dji fly app are you using just to know? I saw the videos you mentioned. Great stuff. Greatings from Portugal.
Hi João Paulo,
I'm from Portugal as well and have both frequencies. If you didn't mess with the firmwares you should have channels 1 - 13 in 2,4GHz and the 5,8GHz option as well.
If indeed it was a firmware issue (didn't notice it so far), you can always downgrade the firmware to the previous version with the dji assistant 2 (for Windows).
Hope it helps.
P.S.: Se precisar de mais alguma dica, contacte-me e terei todo o gosto em ajudar.
Hi Joao, my firmware is 1.1.10 however my last few have all shown the 5.8ghz channels? This is very strange indeed! I would only back up what Carlos has said and maybe roll back the firmware version and hopefully that brings the option back?
Sim claro.
Thanks Gavin so you talking about the transmiter firmware... that s it? Thanks for your help.

Are you sure that channels can change in-flight? There are a cuple of threads on dji forum that says they cannot. (i.e. forum.dji.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=212022)
Also when you manually change channels, there is brake in connection for a few seconds. Never seen this happen in-flight.
I've read multiple times that the channel cannot change in flight however to clarify for my own knowledge I asked DJI directly who claimed it does. Unless the person told me it can was wrong themselves then I don't know but I 100% was told by DJI it can.
To follow up, obviously after testing the auto Vs manual transmission I do always fly in manual mode anyway, from what DJI explained the transmission is locked in IE 2.4 - 5.8 but the channel can change in flight. Again, I'm only quoting what I was told directly when I asked them for clarification
👍👍
Yes this one! Glad you found it
@@GAVINHR I heard u can change it to FCC by downloading a fake GPS app is that true
Everything I heard is that the hardware wax different but that's not to say it doesn't work I just never tested it
Get the Mini 2 if you haven’t got one yet
Should i get the FCC or CE version of mavic mini both are available in my country!
If you have the choice then 100% the FCC ! It has more broadcasting power so you will get a stronger signal
@@GAVINHR will surely remember to get yagis too
In all honesty with the broadcasting power of the FCC you are unlikely to even need them! The FCC only works on 5.8ghz so its the shorter yagis you would need !

Will these work with holy stone 720e please
Not very well.....
Should i get 2.4Ghz or 5.8Ghz Yagis? (I live in Europe)
It depends where you fly... In a city 5.8gjz I'd better, if you are flying out in the open away from WiFi interference from houses for example then you want 2.4ghz
How to fix range get mini 2 with Occusync
Absolutely! That is one way to do it!
Yeah buy the mini 2
Did someone try his innovation?)) Is this really fly for 5000+ km?
flew my mini out to a mile yesterday, without any extender. i was out in the country so very litte interference
Got link for the extenders you are using
Yep I linked them in the video description:)
Link isn't working
But the green and red thing just goes up and down, how do I make it still?
You can't make it still as it's constantly analysing interference - just pick the most stable low green one
Mine has both frequency's, also has 10Mhz and 20Mhz selection in manual and I'm in America.
I'm now wondering which is better, 10 or 20Mhz.
6:19 i thought the higher i went the less signal would be able to reach the drone....i was doing everything wrong
Good job you found this video! Thanks for watching
@@GAVINHR well you got a new subscriber. i think most people underestimate how much other people know. i don't think any video explained the signal thing in that detail and for the "Higher more signal", i thought the height would add to the distance.

@@GAVINHR hi mate! Thanks for replying. So I do remember last night I actually forgot to select a manual channel. It was only my second flight. I was so gutted, with parayagis and only 600ft before it said weak signal. So you think if I remember to go to manual channel I should be okay? I'm in a suburban area with lots of trees. Yeah try it on a 5.8ghz manual channel, which parayagis do you have? If you have the 2.4 ones in a built up area they will struggle
@@GAVINHR I have the short ones! I'm guessing they're 2.4!! And a pair of longer yagies? So a parabolic paired with the shorter ones and some longer yagies on their own. Really appreciate the advice!
first of all you wont see 2.4 in the app if your in the usa you need to use a fake gps spoofer while flying and block your drone on start up with foil to stop it from changing it back.. then take off the foil after 30 seconds so that it gets a lock where your at.. theres tutorials on this or you can pay drone hacks .com i think it is i did 24 bucks usd 20british pounds you pay a conversion its 24 and change.. and youll get a boost 1.8 watts if this is real i dunno i paid em its still 5.8 but tells the transmitter to max out the power..
The problem is, i dont Get more than 300 meters:(
even with the steps detailed?
No the 2.4ghz can fly farther then 5.8
bad range? the drone easily flies well out of line of sight
I've yet to haveI have any range issues yet... But I also just got mine. Good to know, thanks! Check out some of this mini footage I took
