I was 16 when Trump won the oval office. I couldn't vote, my religious family didn't and I knew it was because they were taking their democracy for granted, under the false pretense of comfort. I voted this year, and so did a good chunk of my family that didn't last year. 2016 showed us what happens when we take things for granted. Let 2020 be the year we take back democracy.

I sure would like to trust the polls, but I won't. That's what happened last time.
The polls are an educated guess. They just ask 100 people what they think about a certain topic. There's error involved obviously, but it is an indicator. Clinton won the popular vote last time, but not the electoral college. Polls poll voters, so it's accurate that more voters went with Clinton than Trump last time.
The polls in 2016 were within the margin of error on a statewide level. They did their job.

Its been years since I watched the interview I am thinking about, so I am sure I am going to butcher the quotes, but he said a few things that just stuck with me, because he talked about some real meaning of life stuff and the man is without a doubt smarter than me and likely everyone watching this video. He said something along the lines of "In first world countries, people only really need to work 15 hours a week to live how they live....and maybe instead of teaching people how to work, we should be teaching people how to not work".
I am relatively liberal, at least for living in a red state, but I dont think even I am ready for Andrew Yangs idea of paying people, but socialism and communism are two very different things. Socialism isnt anything new to America, a socialist policy is simply the government paying for something that we as individuals can not provide for ourselfs. Roads are a socialist policy, so are schools and all sorts of other things you use every day. I dont understand why universal health care is such a hard concept for some people to wrap their heads around.
The future is on its way, you can not stop it. If you think machines have displaced jobs today, what do you think it will look like in 50 or 100 years? Like I said, I dont think we are ready for the government to start passing out checks to people every week, but we do need to start preparing for a future where people work because they enjoy it, and not just to earn a living. I am not sure what the answer is, but I do know that screaming "communist" when people start talking about universal health care is NOT the answer.
