You just saw a 58-year old man, 6'4", involved in professional basketball for 27 years, break down on television because he feels powerless to face the neglect and hatred he and his peers are facing every day of their lives any longer. If that man feels impotent, imagine how a less well-off person facing the same adversity must feel. I honestly can't imagine it since I've never been in a remotely similar situation, but I hope that something can be done to fix these issues as soon as possible, since it's long overdue to do so.

I’m Australian and generally interested in politics, I watched the DNC with interest. After the first night of the RNC I couldn’t stomach any more so decided to clean my oven instead, a job I hate but more mentally stimulating than the RNC. Please USA demand more of your government not by violence but by voting on November 3. Every day our federal government and each state government ask people to get tested if they have the slightest of symptoms or suspect contact and to expect results within 24 hours. In our state if your tested and can’t work before receiving a negative result you are paid to self isolate, US citizens deserve the same.

I think the big worry to have is that we don't actually elect our President. Our Electoral College, which is appointed by the parties in power in each state, actually does. Whether or not they reflect their state's public voting is determined by state law (if there is any governing their choice). It is a reasonable fear that if Trump wins, teh only way to depose a new emperor is assassinations and violence. If he loses, his supporters have already made it clear they plan it and are already shooting people for being from the other side. With our military not supporting our President but our militarized law enforcement serving as his PMC, we are closer to civil war over here than most realize.

Therefore; when police neglects to be cautious concerning potential overuse of force, and these cases are pretty easily spotted- let the punishment be severe. That's the only way of stopping it. Badge gone- hallo prison! That must be the rule. What's the use of laws if they are only followed to look out for white people? No one, and especially not the police!, should be able to treat black people, or other minorities, like second class citizens- but that is the case today.

WTF!!!!!!!!! 1) An armed teenage civilian was out past curfew, shooting people! 2) The police, looking like the military, in an armored truck, who were afraid for their lives, asking if civilian armed white militia members needed water and thanking them for being there, even though the civilian militia was breaking curfew! 3) The head of the militia tweeting the police not to send them home when they showed up after curfew, armed! Unless the Kenosha mayor was in on the decision to allow the militia to be out after curfew, the first thing he should due is suspend the Kenosha police chief, pending an investigation. Instead of de-escalating the situation, the Kenosha police chief’s actions made the situation much worse. What a sad state of this Republic!

Rebecca Presti I’m not a conservative republican, but my father has been for over 40 years, and even he despises Trump and laments about the state of the party. I’ve been voting Democrat since 2016. I do not support the direction of the Republican Party in any way. Most, if not all of them seem to view this president as a messiah - the one to save the Republican Party from the “tyranny” of the Democrats. Both me and my father came to the realization that the Republican Party behaves like they haven’t won anything in decades and are desperately doing anything they can to keep the country Republican. As a German I got taught a lot in school about our history and I genuinely thought that there is absolutely no way that a free country could possibly shift into a dictatorship again. They are a republic and with the setup of their Senate which allocates the same number of senators to Rhode Island as California (pop 41 million bigger than Canada's) and their Electoral college, rampant voter suppression, and political redistricting along party lines, it could be argued they barely have a democracy at all.

@@ThoughtfulPotato Sure, well the Indian Parliament is based on the British Parliament except it's a constitutional monarchy as well, whereas India's Parliament is a little different not having a Queen and different names for their upper and lower houses. That being said if you google the British Parliamentary system it will explain how the Mother of all Parliaments is set up. Then google India's and note the differences. Canada's parliament is a constitutional monarchy but uses different names for its houses as well. The original British Parliament goes way back to 1215 AD, but its modern roots date back to the English Civil War in 1642, the beheading of Charles the first and rule of Oliver Cromwell. The end of the Divine right of Kings to rule. For the Americans, the Republic started in 1776 or thereabouts, much later. You can google the American Republic for a factual explanation of their Republic but understanding it's complexities is another matter, even Americans have trouble with the electoral college. Basically, the people vote for a president but the electoral college elects the president. It's complicated. Good luck.

Every day our federal government and each state government ask people to get tested if they have the slightest of symptoms or suspect contact and to expect results within 24 hours. In our state if your tested and can’t work before receiving a negative result you are paid to self isolate, US citizens deserve the same.

I think the big worry to have is that we don't actually elect our President. Our Electoral College, which is appointed by the parties in power in each state, actually does. Whether or not they reflect their state's public voting is determined by state law (if there is any governing their choice).
It is a reasonable fear that if Trump wins, teh only way to depose a new emperor is assassinations and violence. If he loses, his supporters have already made it clear they plan it and are already shooting people for being from the other side. With our military not supporting our President but our militarized law enforcement serving as his PMC, we are closer to civil war over here than most realize.

WTF!!!!!!!!! 1) An armed teenage civilian was out past curfew, shooting people! 2) The police, looking like the military, in an armored truck, who were afraid for their lives, asking if civilian armed white militia members needed water and thanking them for being there, even though the civilian militia was breaking curfew! 3) The head of the militia tweeting the police not to send them home when they showed up after curfew, armed! Unless the Kenosha mayor was in on the decision to allow the militia to be out after curfew, the first thing he should due is suspend the Kenosha police chief, pending an investigation. Instead of de-escalating the situation, the Kenosha police chief’s actions made the situation much worse. What a sad state of this Republic!

I do not support the direction of the Republican Party in any way. Most, if not all of them seem to view this president as a messiah - the one to save the Republican Party from the “tyranny” of the Democrats.
Both me and my father came to the realization that the Republican Party behaves like they haven’t won anything in decades and are desperately doing anything they can to keep the country Republican. Here's some expensive medical advice:- take some vitamin B-12 pills, or maybe switch from spirits to beer, cider, and wine. Eat a decent diet; don't let that Irish cream become a food substitute. Naturally, if you should have a seizure, proceed to the A+E/emergency room immediately and ask for librium and/or valium, and DON'T let them fuck you around! I think so many people feel like this. I know I just get so annoyed and frustrated watching the news, or especially going on twitter - seeing how these terrible leaders are in charge (Trump, Johnson...) , doing what they want, getting away with it, and just feeling helpless. All while brainwashing their gullible, cult like followers with fear and lies - who are all too stupid to see they're being taken advantage of.
America has to get rid of Trump this year. Then that might knock on to other countries and wake people up from making stupid decisions. It already seems too late for Brexit (I almost wish I wasn't British with how embarrassingly incompetent the Government has been), but something seriously needs to change soon. We've already seen what happens when right wing parties get too much power, and that doesn't need repeating.

That show sent shivers down my spine. As a German I got taught a lot in school about our history and I genuinely thought that there is absolutely no way that a free country could possibly shift into a dictatorship again. I'm glad that so many people stand up against it and I'd wish more countries would do the same and call this administration out. I feel like in November we (the whole world) will be on the brink of something devastating. Please don't let it happen and keep fighting!
I'm an Indian... We haven't got out democracy right here either but we are trying... I was stunned to find out that our voter turnout was higher than the US! The oldest democracy in the world is definitely at risk!
Also, I don't know much about your leader, Angela Merkel when it comes to her policies but she has stood up to Trump! She has shown more gumption than a lot of the other world leaders and I appreciate that... And you are right... The whole world is watching now...

They are a republic and with the setup of their Senate which allocates the same number of senators to Rhode Island as California (pop 41 million bigger than Canada's) and their Electoral college, rampant voter suppression, and political redistricting along party lines, it could be argued they barely have a democracy at all.

@@ThoughtfulPotato Sure, well the Indian Parliament is based on the British Parliament except it's a constitutional monarchy as well, whereas India's Parliament is a little different not having a Queen and different names for their upper and lower houses. That being said if you google the British Parliamentary system it will explain how the Mother of all Parliaments is set up. Then google India's and note the differences. Canada's parliament is a constitutional monarchy but uses different names for its houses as well. The original British Parliament goes way back to 1215 AD, but its modern roots date back to the English Civil War in 1642, the beheading of Charles the first and rule of Oliver Cromwell. The end of the Divine right of Kings to rule. For the Americans, the Republic started in 1776 or thereabouts, much later. You can google the American Republic for a factual explanation of their Republic but understanding it's complexities is another matter, even Americans have trouble with the electoral college. Basically, the people vote for a president but the electoral college elects the president. It's complicated. Good luck.
