    I have a 2015 Tundra Crewmax 4x4, 5.7, 80k miles. I took into the dealer last month for servicing, and the sales manager came to me and said he'd give me $35k for it. He said that he could sell my truck quicker than anything he had on the lot. Meaning the new Tundras. I bought my truck back in 2015 and paid it off in 2018. I'm never selling. My 5.7 has gotten me out of a lot of terrains. From the snow in Detroit to the desert of Nevada. No issues! I'm not getting rid of her.

      I have a 2016 SR5 4x4 with only 36k. Only upgrade are TOYO tires with 5k and a adjustable rack. All service done on time and in immaculate condition. Paid something like 34 (I think). At oil change last week and I was held up waiting. Apparently they were looking it over closely and made me an offer of 32k. I turned them down

      @@jonathanratliff4780 Ford quite basically said "F*** you" to the government. They don't care beacause they know that this isn't the way things will be. They want whats best for the customer. Also the i-force V8 can be tuned and modified for better MPG's. Ford's 5.0 Coyote somehow manages to meet emissions standards, General Motors doesn't care when it comes to the 5.3 or 6.2... I just got a ‘21 TRD Pro LR, Clean Car Fax, from Chuck Hutton Toyota in Memphis. Drove it back to Tulsa. It was off a lease in Katy Tx. (Houston). Took it to my long time, trusted paint and body guy to get some superficial stuff done and he informed me it had some front-end sheet metal work done, to include a repainted hood & right front damage, new non-oem head lights. It’s going to be $9,500 to fix all this. Sucks to get jobbed like that, but we live and learn. The original owner in Katy, Tx got one over on me. He needs to pray our paths never cross!

    • @jgmullins1
      @jgmullins1 15 дней назад +1

      Yes, Carfax is not going to pick up all the damage. I don't ever report damage - I just pay out of pocket and save on both depreciation and insurance. My wife and daugher have combined for over 20 accidents and maybe three got reported when I could not intervene and strike a deal with the person they hit. It's a small town so I usually just say I'll cut you a check for any shop you pick no questions asked. Need to pull trigger on a good paint thickness meter that will pick up paint work and body filler. Seems to be a must have if I'm looking at 50K for a used truck. Sorry for your issue - maybe take a look at those meters if you go that route again.

    • @Mike-vd2qt
      @Mike-vd2qt 11 дней назад +1

      Car Fax does not catch work done independent of insurance claims or DMV records. That aside, how is it the original lease holder's fault? All they did was turn the vehicle in, or trade it in. That is your fault for paying top dollar on a leased vehicle. Lease holders are basically renting the vehicle for a period of time. They treat the vehicle like a rental car, beat it, don't change oil, no services. Buyers would be better off driving a hard deal on a new GM or Ford and if you're afraid of failures, trade it in at 100,000 miles. Interesting how in the Bible Belt you threaten someone that you never met, a person that did nothing to you. Peace

Opinions will always vary and at the end of the day, we're all Toyota fans for one reason or another. Most people fear change but in reality, it is the only permanent in life.

    I'm seeing the exact same pricing here in SC. With any type of milage under 30K it's right around the new MSRP back three years ago. I like the truck and may get one. Have the money to strike a check but it's a tough pill to swallow. Don't really need to tow so the smart money would be a heavily discounted Nissan Pro 4X Frontier. Just can't get that excited about the looks. Just for looks like the new Tundra or a GMC Sierra but both have issues. The DFM and transmissions on the GMC (and Silverado) are a total crap shoot. Will be dead soon, so really need to hold my nose and buy a low milage 18-21 1794 since that's what will be both reliable and have some looks.

    I have a 2015 tundra I purchased at 120k miles, currently at 144k, never had transmission drained and filled. You think it’s okay to leave it alone since it’s never been serviced?

    • @pauldiesel4582
      @pauldiesel4582 15 дней назад +1

      Get it serviced. Transmission fluid has a finite life. Particularly the detergent package. At this point it should have been serviced at least twice. You will find it shifting smoother after it is serviced.

      @@pauldiesel4582 I don’t run the risk of creating issues now since it’s been neglected so long?

    • @pauldiesel4582
      @pauldiesel4582 15 дней назад

      @@CoreyLoggins-mj7qy If you’re really worried you can just do a drain and fill once. Run it for awhile and see how it does. You are not getting it all out anyway, like a third. You will be freshening it up with new detergents , base fluid and other additives. If the fluid is somewhat red/ burgundy you should be OK for sure and the transmission is just very over due. Run this for a month and get the benefit of the fresh detergents cleaning up all the tiny passageways. I would repeat this 2 more times and you should see pretty much a blood red color of very clean fluid. I wouldn’t recommend having it power flushed. If it is brown to black it really needs servicing and I would do the same steps. Here you are verifying that the transmission is in dire need of a fluid change. There is a greater risk of transmission failure from bad fluid than somehow making it worse with new fluid anymore than if we were doing the same thing with engine oil that had been greatly neglected. We all would say change it right away. Toyota transmissions have a drain plug, an upper fill plug, and a level inspection plug so it is easier and less messy than most other trucks.

Software that doesn’t spy on you, like the Reddit guys 2023 that reported his son driving it to insurance when he borrowed it. Twin turbo dime a dozen all are that now from on. Stay away from the flex fuel tundras. Start issues. Oddly enough the start issues did not happen until later. Later, meaning like 6 year later. HMMMMM...
    NOW that I am typing this " saying out loud" this issue did not start til after I got the truck paid off. I continued taking truck for service after paid off. Wonder if dealership had anything to do with that?? Like maybe they did something on purpose to make it have this issue to get me to trade and spend MO MONEY with them!!!???? I say this, cause for the first 6 years I had no issues. Anyways just my thoughts, not accessing anyone, just think why so long before issue started.
