I think Tony writes these things for him to spew out on Twitter and his podcast and newsletter like they are fact when in fact attendance is down, ratings are down, ppv buys are down, merch sales are down, the demo is down, fan feedback is down, everything is down but according to Dave "Everything is great".

The entire point of the Mariah May turn happening so early is because everyone expected it to happen much later. The belief was that Mariah would win the Owen and then it would be a “will she won’t she” story with Mariah as the hometown babyface. People expected it be a slow build to the turn but this moment caught everyone off guard because we all thought we knew what was going to happen. Now there are plenty of intriguing questions going into dynamite like “why” or “was this the plan from the start?” And the new rinkle that Toni is a face now.Not everything needs to take months of build to be interesting.
If TK wanted to do this whole angle with Toni Storm and Mariah, he should have started at Double or Nothing. You could build a compelling story in that time but no. An angle that comes out of nowhere works once in a while sure, but if you are treating All In as your Wrestlemania (until WWE gets to Wembley) then you need to bring the story up sooner. And while all the “angles” going into All In are fine in the moment, the stories WWE is telling going into Summerslam are gonna stick with people

I enjoy both brands, but WWE to paraphrase the words of our tribal chief, “we’re making fillet mignon not fast food.” AEW has had very little rivalries and means the build up as you said. You just get the turn and BAM match, awe, onto the next. AEW does feel like fast food as sad as I am to say it.
Some people need to stop watching wrestling and social media stuff for a while. Spend a month, just reading whenever you are looking for entertainment. Try to remember what the basics of stories are and how they unfold. Are there really people that watch wrestling just to see the matches, and not the driving forces behind the personalities? Do people who watch purely for wrestling get invested in the actual people? Cause I feel like maybe amateur wrestling would be better to watch. Where at least it is truly a sports competition.

If the program as a whole isn’t over, it’s hard for any one segment to get over. Lots of bad stuff in the attitude era but with Austin/Vince at the top of the card and DX as the upper mid card the show was over so I was willing to sit through a dumb segment or two. AEW doesn’t have that. What’s the can’t miss angle? This three way women’s match with a goofy champion? Jeribloat? Gross. I’ve got other shit to do with my Wednesdays.
