People don't pay attention to the athlete just the wins. And for someone who wins at Simone's caliber you also incur those who don't want to see you win and come to watch you descend into chaos. I remember thinking in the midst of her struggles that this is going to open up the conversation about mental health, mental health in sports. If NBC along with other news media entities choose not to discuss the abuse at USAG and subvert to make this about Simone every time they speak of her name or her achievements, then the documentaries about what these athletes experienced definitely need more attention. Look how long it took the news to report that she didn't withdraw from all of the events...that she was the only American to medal on beam. There was no compassion at all. It was sensationalized as if they were hurt. The media is a large part of the problem. I would never want anyone to have that break in a space in time of that size, but none of the culpable parties deserved the Tokyo team medaling simply for the benefit of those who refuse to acknowledge that the abuse on that ranch is a wound that will take time to heal and there's no way to talk around it.
I want to say your so awesome 👌 and amazing for having the kind of empathy that most don't have ❤,you have so much respect for simone and the team ,it truly shows the kind, awesome human being that you are!!! You rock Braie !!! Great things are in store for you ,keep ✨️ up the great wrk and never change!!!
Why didnt nastia and tim get ahead if the narrative and talk right away about the twisties? They had an opportunity to help keep the haters at bay, but it was much later when people started defining and talking about what the twisties. By that time, the people who know nothing about gymnastics got to put out their BS narrative.
In cheerleading we call them mental blocks. It won't necessarily be on twisting skills but it can be on something like a back tuck. Even if you had done it in the past your body will go "nope" and you can't do it. The second I heard Simone had an even more complex version of it I completely understood why she dropped out of the competition. I saw too many injuries happen with girls being forced to do skills they weren't ready for.
@@Ayybraiebraie Yeah twisting technique in cheer is... questionable (especially standing fulls on a dead mat!) but it really sucks overall. I saw girls go through it on back handsprings and can't imagine going through it on something as complex as an Amanar.
I really have been entertained with listening to you. Besides sharing the same birthday ( birthday twin), your experienced, inteligent, sudbtle moxie, and media trained thoughts are well received. Keep on keeping on with your endeavors. GO USA! GO WORLD!

The fact that simone was the only gymnast who was abused and testifying while still competing is mind boggling!
That part.
Simones breakdown in Tokyo was the culmination of all our pandemic microcosms. So looking forward to Paris. Stay safe gymnasts!
Your level of empathy is amazing. You're so understanding. I could totally see you working as a sports psychologist or something.
Love this, Braie! I can't wait for more content! 😇❤

Good question. Idk if they even knew it get that bad.
I'm pretty sure I heard Laurie Hernandez mention it but she was the only one. I felt the same way as you.

Yes, totally a mental block! Mental block is like an umbrella term and twisties refers specifically to the twisting of any skill!
