I watched this series over the weekend and Honey.. I have always been a fan of Simone Biles but now even more. The acknowledgement of mental health and her personal journey from her childhood trauma(being the child of an addict, entering into the foster care system to finding home with her grandparents) The young lady embodies resiliency, perseverance on and off the mat. I was waiting for you to break this one down.. Thank you
I can't wait for Part 2. I hope it's more than 2 episodes too lol. I am so proud of her and I support her journey. Thanks for watching! Any other suggestions on movies/TV shows I should review?
I saw Simone training as a junior and I told everyone that 2016 would leave them gobsmacked. And here we are. Prior to her first Olympics in Rio, she was setting up world domination. She works hard and has earned every accolade.
Well said!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Great analysis!! From personal mental health experiences, I second what you talked about with her support system! They really helped get her through in the same beautiful way my support system has gotten me through. It's beautiful to see Black families supporting their family member's mental health. It was really touching to see the Mom's reaction once Simone told her she's leaving the competition. 🥹🥹
Thanks so much for watching & commenting! Can you imagine how dope the world would be if more ppl had a support system like you & Simone did? Especially in the Black community
I dont recall anyone having an issue with her body type. Your average elite gymnast is 5'1 tops. Her age also isnt an issue as there were many Russian gymnasts who competed at almost 30. Dissapointing was Black women who came for hair. Im soooo glad it was addressed honestly and with the disdain it deserved. Too much concern about her edges. She is throwing het body all over the place. How ya'll want her hair to look?
I saw a few ppl talk about her body type because she is small and petite (4'8 ish). Ppl were saying she has the body of a teenager. She briefly talked about her age and being "older" in the episodes. I agree with you about her hair! There's no way your hair can be perfect when you are sweating & flipping all over the place. I'm sure she just wants to make sure it is out of the way & not in her face
I'm proud of her. To be honest i've only made it part of the way through. But I grew up truly enjoying the Olympics. So I keep an eye out for some of these athletes. To me, it was about the strength it took to say, I cannot continue feeling the way i'm feeling. It would have been really easy for Simone to say. I don't want to let "other folks" down. She could have tried to people please and crowd please. We could have seen this play out much much worse. I have developed a mindset that the best you is better for everyone. Too often we humans show and give worst of ourselves. So who does that help?
I would rather her withdrew from from an event then to compete in a competition and injure herself dangerously. They are looking at their bottom line, which is the money and not the fact that a wrong move could cost her her life. The fact is gymnastics is a dangerous sport.
Gymnastics is very dangerous. I don't think we look at it that way though. She made a great decision to pull out even though I'm sure it was the hardest thing ever! Ppl are just so judgmental and mean without knowing the full story
@@KiaundraJackson I thought it was revealing of his character when he mentioned he was impressed with her Land Rover…. But shocked at how small she was. He seemed to make fun of her height …. Maybe I’m reading into it …
Comment Below: What are your thoughts about Simone Biles Rising Part 1?
@@Optimistic-369 I think Lifetime attempted it. I didn't watch it but I would love a movie or even s more thorough docu about her life

I’m blessed to have witnessed Simone and Dominique within my lifetime.
I agree! It took me all the way back when they showed clips of Dominique Dawes.💕

I loved watching it and can’t wait for the rest
I was annoyed they only gave us 2 episodes🤦🏾♀️

This was a good one! I do need to finish it up

My favorite part was watching her mom do her hair.
That was the best! We all know Simone could do her own hair or hire a professional but it was about bonding😍
@@KiaundraJackson
It touched me because my mom did my hair all of my life.
@@SheniceSays214 awwww! That's beautiful. Hair is so important in the Black community

More episodes are coming. Either during post Olympics. That seemed pretty clear after episode 2.
Yes, there will be more episodes in the Fall. I talk about this in more detail towards the end of my review in the final thoughts

She also used to date former gymnast, Stacy Irvin.
I never knew that but I also never heard of him before🙈
Can we talk about her husband ….
Yes, please! What are your thoughts?
