When Osage Beach operated this engine, it was assigned to a rural portion of their district, rather than near the Lake of the Ozarks. This engine was designed to run through fields to farm ponds, and then draft from the pond to supply water for suppression. That is why it had 4 wheel drive and multiple front suctions. Originally, it was set up for highway driving with conventional duals in the rear and highway super singles up front. It was part of a large, multiple truck purchase from E-One for Osage Beach in the mid-80's.

This thing would make the ultimate RV if you ditch all the pump equipment and the rear boxes then drop a refrigerated truck box on it. One can dream I guess…..
That is one awesome looking and tastefully modded fire engine. I recently acquired a 1985 GMC 7000 fire engine myself. It doesn't look nearly as cool as this beast though lol.
You live right next to foxfire I drove past that thing many times and always thought it was really cool😎 never thought that I was ever going to see a video of it though
Cool truck u did good getting this one too also another idea u can get someone to make u some aluminum finder flares to match that silver aluminum diamond plate look over the tires so cool keep walking tall prayers 4 yall and bless great healthy peaceful safe journeys travels happy camping and happy building 🚐⛺🌌🌄🏞👍👍💪🙂👍👍
Probably couldn’t. Since it’s a retired/bought out fire truck for non fire department or police station ownership, I believe it’s illegal to use a fire siren or use unauthorized fire truck lights on a truck that is residentially owned and not under business ownership.
I spent a career riding in trucks just like that. Even back in the days when you could ride Tailboard. Good times for sure! So I don't really care about pumpers...... However, I'd buy that truck. Yeah you need to put the Q2 back on it. Love that Q
Looks good. Have you thought about a Back Up Camera System? That Button to the right of the 2 Starter Buttons, does that work a Car Horn at the rear of the Fire engine?
It would be great as is for a offroad pumper truck for here in California for the next seasons wild fires. Might get a little better mpg if change the 4spd Allison to a 6spd, better ratios/ overdrive.
@jonniessink1 Would it need the whole trans replaced or just gearing. Also with going to taller tires would that not mess up the power curve, speedometer and shift points? We could use one of these where I live as well but North of California. This year could be a bad year. Seems like a waste to use this truck for something other than off-road firefighting.
If you consider letting go of that Deck Gun setup, Please message me! If we can find the right price I would love to grab it for our new to us engine which didn't come with one when we got it. Those things new are expensive for small departments and out of our budget.
I kinda like that truck 🚒. Not sure y pump is only a 750gpm -6 inch due Intakes r nice. I could use it ! For pumping my pond. Keep me busy ...👨🏻🚒. Cool truck.
What a neat truck! Do you know the model of Allison? I'm thinking HT740 but could be wrong. Can you please do a super long ride along video of your truck? I'm super interested in hearing how it shifts through all the gears at different RPM's, cruising, and jake braking (if it has a jake, that is). And remember, no talking, just that pure Detroit 8V92 sound! Please let me know ASAP.
And am I correct on the model of Allison? Please do the super long drive video ASAP, I want to hear more of that amazing 8V92 Detroit sound! Please let me know ASAP.
Checkers Garage , I watch the previous video and you mentioned that, your fire truck has got to be the most unique vehicle I’ve come across on you tube , definitely will be an interesting build series to watch - good luck , I’ve got 1500 hours into my overland build but only plan to start a channel after I’m done , good luck.
13:00 i think you should take out the water tank as you said but make a smaller one in it like really small probably 120 gallons just so if you ever have a fire somewhere at your house or a campout fire that gets out of control you can use that
Get rid of that old 4 speed non overdrive trans. You can find a 8 speed or 10 speed eaton ultra shift for a reasonable price. Will give you way better mpg and a cruise speed of roughly 65 @ 2000 rpms. If your plans are camper? The 13 speed ultra shift will give you some insane crawl capabilities that the 8 speed won't.
@@nephilly87 the 10 speed ultra shift is $3,500. Gives a better gear spread and improves the mpg on a truck that size. It can be programmed for his truck pulls and his highway cruise.

I spent alot of time on that truck. It was my favorite in the fleet. Water moving workhorse for sure.

Pump primers shows can always come in handy for that fire engine unit pump primers is a show for all the old fire apparatus and ladder units as well
That is one sweet rig thanks for posting
I used to work on a neighboring FD to Osage Beach FD. That pumper was quite handy.
If you have any stories of it I'd love to hear them!

I just happened across this video and to learn that this truck was in the area from where I grew up
Awesome truck!! The lift and the tires really set it off...
Yes it does!
Very nice, at first glance I though it might have been an airport fire rescue truck with those tires.:)
I watched one of your pulls. That's one crazy beast. I love the camper idea.
Nice truck good vision from you.
I've seen this every time I go my buddies cabin on the lake and glad to finally learn about it

That is one unique truck, a lot cooler than the E-1s pumpers I have driven.
Very cool looking truck
Should have turned on the lights.

Gorgeous Machine! I wanna drive it once!!!
Wow, that is an ace thing to own and it loves the lift :o)

1500gpm rated but did 1950gpm

Yup back up camera is is the works, just in time. That button is actually the engine stop button. It does have a backup beeper but that's it
Awesome truck but u need to put your caps on all open pipes or the rust problems will be real lol.
New drinking game every time he says umm slam a shot see how long you last b4 your wasted. on side note badass rig.
Only half way and drunk

I appreciate it!
That looks like it is a fire truck from up north. That E-one is similar to one that the department I volunteered at had, minus the lift kit.
😂 she's come a long way from Florida!
Off the ranch Matt would of been happy to take this fire truck off your hands for a great price
So cool !

I talked to you at Golden sands speedway. Are you still planning on using it for going off the beaten path for camping??
Yes in the long term, pure fun for now 😳
Wait a minute, I recognize this truck, I've drove by it lots of times.
Fill it with beer and you'll be set for a big party.
Genius
Great looking rig, but 430 hp may be a little weak with all that weight, but I'll still take it!!
He said he put big injectors and more timing in it and sits at around 600hp
Sled pulling firetruck is something different.
I like to think it's a good different
For a moment I thought that was a ARFF. Cool truck though.
Love to turn this into a overland camper
That's the plan!

Use the water cannon to water the yard. Imagine how fast you could wash your car with that. Lmao .i want it.
Blow the doors off the car! Ha some serious water off that deck gun
How do you put in 4wd
toggle switch on dash to engage the power divider. Can show in a video soon
Ah when fire trucks had jump seats

Nobody takes a Allison auto out of a truck to put a 13spd stick in
@@nephilly87 do you know what a Ultrashift is? Or did your lack of reading comprehension skills miss that part?
@@bladenrexroth2555 yea the transmission alone would be more money then the whole 1989 fire truck is worth sounds like a good plan

No wonder she pulls like king Kong its got a unlimited detroit and awd i bet that fuel pump is wide open.

Do you know how to operate the pump? Why did you buy a fire Engine if you do not use it as a parade vehicle or as a working fire apparatus?
Are there some rules about owning a fire engine no one told me about? And yes I know how to run the pump
