I appreciate how real it all sounded, and this is definitely a game I've been keeping my eye on long before this video. Hopefully it's something you end up liking later.
Really happy to see them finally actual variety to the character lineup. One of the things that bothered me the most about genshin is that EVERYONE was stuck in the same 3 boring bodyshapes so things quickly gelled together and became very boring.
Combat seems the best incarnation out of the action games they made so far.

Genshin was made in Unity with assets. After making tons of money they bought the asset creators. If you compare their animations to other games like DMC, Bayonetta, and Nier you can tell where it was all copied from as well.
MHY is also a CCP committee that has contributed millions to CCP projects and actively helped track down protesters during the HK riots. They only made a branch in Singapore, they're still based in HK.
I don't support anything they do.
Single player games can absolutely be pay to win, can't wait to see how all the best characters are pay walled behind RNG timed events triggering FOMO.
Your comment sums up my thoughts perfectly. This game looks great, but the F2P aspect has me highly suspicious that the game will just periodically beef up the enemies to insane levels necessitating either grinding or spending more for lvling resources/better characters/equipment. Lemon probably should have waited until the game released to review it.

I feel like the worst parts will be there will be a stamina system and the fact I guarantee farming in this game will feel like a second job and you'll be restricted
If you want to get all the best character theres no denying that, its most likely a gacha game after all. Most of the character released has competitive value to them (they did my boi Cyyu dirty tho) and they rarely give us a character thats too broken. If you mostly only want to play for the story, as long as you dont mind the time gated stamina system, hoyo has a good record for not spiking the difficulty too much to the point you're forced to pull for units, heck hi3 doesnt let you to use your character most of the time in story mode (you could still use your own if u have the same character as the story). Overall if you're worried about p2w stuff it aint a problem most of the time. NOW if you're thinking of FOMO and chore impact however... Its your own psyche, you mostly know what you have to do wether to commit, skipping dailies or events, or ignoring the game's existence is always up2u

This feels like... A commercial? I'm only saying this because I've never gotten this vibe from your channel before and you seem open to feedback, this is all coming from a place of love: this isn't what people want here. If you were providing some actual hands on experience and opinions then sure, fine, that's sponsored content. This is just regurgitation of marketing materials; those are two very different things. All you're really able to do in a situation like this is look at what the company says their game is and repeat their points in your own words. Frankly, if I wanted that I'd just go watch a trailer and save myself the ten minutes. I normally really love your content and I'm trying to put this out there in a way that's constructive, but this is way too far. This video isn't a review, it isn't really even a "my impressions of ___" thing because you haven't played the game. It's like a review of an album based on the record company's opinion, or a review of a movie from somebody who's only seen the trailer: incomplete, impersonal, and heavily biased in the favor of those who stand to make money from the success of the piece of media being reviewed. This video isn't helpful to anybody except hoyoverse, and that's a bummer compared to your normal content. All the best.

Personally It gets a pass from me cause Lemon gets money and ZZZ is actually a good game so far. If he was doing an ad just like this for a game you were highly anticipating you'd probably give it a pass too
Mihoyo's games always look good.
But then the slimy black tentacle of monetization slithers its way in and things start to get ugly.
Their gacha is bad, their stamina systems are an insult and everything is an RNG based grindfest so you buy more stamina.
If they can keep their usual bullshit out of ZZZ, good. But I'm genuinely curious if Lemon's opinion changes once the game is at a release state.
Genshin is pretty bad with what it gives out for free, only 10 pulls every anniversary. But Honkai Impact is fully willing to give meta characters out for free and Honkai Star Rail just can't stop giving out 10 free pulls every patch. along with the 600 premium currency as an apology for just doing patch maintenance.
Though from my highly critical point of view on Genshin's monetization I would say it's far from the worst, game's sorta grindy, but I've only ever spent $60 total on the game at release and since then I've gotten every character I've wanted, that's a full price video game. There's better things Genshin can be criticized for, like rigging artifacts to where less useful stats have a higher chance to rolled, It's a good thing ZZZ's version of artifacts will have fixed stats.
At the end of the Genshin's monetization is manipulative and the Abyss is psychotic whoever is handling that needs to be fired, but the game's monetization will only be an issue if you have an actual gambling issue, then I recommend staying away from gacha games.

Looks interesting, though it should be noted that most of if not all of Hoyoverse's products that have made it overseas are gacha games, where your money is spent on currency to randomly roll for characters. I'm personally waiting for Honkai Star Rail to drop on console but this should be fun to keep an eye on.
given mihoyo's track record, the grind will be there and it will feel just painful enough to tempt you into spending, without forcing you to. the worst kind of grind imo.

Mihoyo didn't ask him to review the game, just to take a look for a sponsored video. This video is not a review, but an overview. I can honestly respect Mihoyo for giving Lemon what seems to be mostly creative freedom for this sponsor
As someone who plays and has played a lot of gacha games, Mihoyo makes some of the absolute best in terms of visual quality and gameplay, and their writing quality is pretty up there too.
The main downside though is that typically speaking, they are very stingy with their gacha currency and rates, meaning that unless you plan on spending hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars, you aren't likely to get more than a character every now and then that you actively want. If you're fine with playing knowing that you might miss out on a character you really want, and you have the self control to keep from spending more than you can safely, their games are good. It's just that even as far as gacha go, there needs to be that extra warning.
Weirdly, I feel like their gacha stinginess actually really hurts their games, usually when combined with long times to build/gear characters, because it's hard to get and gear up new stuff to try out, so even if there's a variety of team comps to experience or whatever, you kind of settle into the one or two you have and have gear for, and it makes it easier to get burned out than it might be if they were a bit more generous in that regard.
@@thaddeusgenhelm8979 Oh yea, the stinginess does really hurt the game overall. It's a big part of why I eventually drop all their games despite liking the gameplay, characters, and world. I was just saying that their games are well designed if you can get past that. As far as gachas go, they're pretty much the stingiest out there other than cheap licensed cash grab ones.
Genshin and HI3 suffer from that stinginess a lot. HSR though has actually been pretty lenient with their f2p side. I am a purely f2p player, and while I usually don’t even get a single 5 star in 2-3 banners with Genshin, for HSR I’ve actually been able to get a lot of 5 stars despite having caught up with all missions and events. I think a big part of that has been because the simulated universe, unlike the spiral abyss, is VERY f2p friendly and is a good source for jades. That gives me hope that this game, if it has any gacha elements at all, might be even better in terms of that f2p leniency.
@@davidpotts7116 Star Rail has been interesting in that regard because I largely haven't gotten much in the way of 5*s because, being used to Hoyoverse games (and my terrible luck), I don't really roll on anything unless I *really* want it, and the game hasn't been doing a great job of presenting me things I really desire. Mostly just lining up the Quants at present...
Though I was interested in Kafka enough to set my 50/50 with her. ... So I got a dupe of one of the 2 generic 5*s I have. Because I really needed Yanqing E1 when I'm running Seele e_e

THE GACHA TAKEOVER
I kinda hate that hoyoverse games have real and fairly enjoyable gameplay.
Like I want to hate them on principle alone because they’re gacha games and those should never be supported, but then I play them one day because I’m bored and have a decent time because they have fairly fun gameplay.
You have to realize though that the culture in Asia is much different to the west. Gambling and gacha is extremely normalized over there, and most people are neutral to it.
Anyway, if you are completely opposed to supporting gacha games, just don't spend money. They'll hardly benefit from you if you stay f2p, and you still get to experience the gameplay for yourself
You can clear all content that matters in Genshin Impact, Honkai Impact and Honkai Star Rail without spending money, however playing their games is still a form of supporting the devs since you pump their player number up by doing that, so if that doesn't sit well enough for you to enjoy their gameplay.
It looks awesome, but I already have two gacha games on my phone and seeing how this games need daily grind, I doubt I can fit it into my daily routine. I wish some of this games allowed for a more casual experience like with regular games instead of making you feel like you are losing resources if you miss a day or a week.
So, if I understand this correctly: You were asked to make a video for the game, but you weren't provided a demo, current B-roll footage, and there isn't even a release date? What the heck was Hoyoverse's thought process on this; I'm completely baffled.
But in exchange they gave him nigh complete creative freedom, I'd say this deal is not as bad as it sounds, especially considering the paycheck.

The art style looks right up my alley, kinda like Scarlet Nexus. Will try this one.
Was pretty much my first thoughts, especially after the setting being the last bastions of humanity live in cities while the outside world has hostile enviroment that turns people into monsters, and also build relationships with your teammates. After thinking about it more, that studio’s previous game, Code Vein can be summarized with the same description for the setting.
This does seem to add the different element of running a slice of life shop at least.

My thoughts:
ZZZ Looks good. And I've been moderately interested since it was announced.
But I played Genshin Impact when it came out. A lot. But it was grindy. Which is okay, I don't mind grinding. Until I reached the (at that time) end game. And the end game dungeons, while initially fun, did not increase the drop of low level grnad mats (or at least not that I noticed). And the high level grind mats were worse. So I put it down. And only went back once, to grab the Horizon crossover.
If it's worth anything; ZZZ may be taking more after Honkai Impact in terms of systems

That's similar to saying TF2 is if Quake and Half-Life had a baby with microtransactions, you're boiling down the game to a singular aspect, oversimplifying it without seeing or considering it's other aspects. The amount of detail and style that has gone into the 3d animations of this game is highly impressive, surely one can appreciate that?

It looks interesting and I personally liked Genshin Impact from the same studio, but... Hmm... I don't think I wanna dip into another gacha again and it's most likely gonna be a gacha game. I don't wanna have to farm or pay to get the characters I want, that are gonna become obsolete when new ones release and difficulty ramps up when trying to use older characters.

Hey I'm a subscriber and I like Hoyoverse games! I quite liked both Honkai Impact and Genshin Impact. I don't pay any money for them, so I don't get the Super Duper Ultra Special Rare characters and weapons, but I still think they're really stong games, and I think the characters are really charming.

There isn't much guessing involved when the majority of the info he talks about was part of the beta test last year.
They probably just asked him to do a promo vid talking about it, these sponsors usually don't give strict direction on what to and not talk about.
9:30 ngl, didn't have too strong of an interest in playing before, but I found the characters interesting especially since so many people I've heard talk about it was popping off over the wolf many and learning it's F2P makes me curious to try it out. honestly, I thought it was gunna be a fully paid for game sorta deal, but I also thought it was gunna be a Fighter game like MK or Street fighter. lol

Know you have to pay your bills but even without MP PvP it still is a F2P and very much absuive pricing and manipulation gacha. Also Hoyo makes billions of of it's gacha games so anything but high quality assets and horrible dev crunch periods would be unexpeted.
My only hope is that it comes to xbox.
Looking at the controller scheme it looks like a possibility, but when it comes to Mihoyo they only put there games out on mobile, Playstation and PC. But here's to hoping.

While the graphics look gorgeous and the promis on heavy character interaction sound amazing, I have a few things that I'm not sure, if I'll like em.
First, the combat looks a bit to much like Hack n slay to me. The party swap is probably going to be only really useful on bosses, so normal mobs are gonna be a normal attack spam (or so I fear).
Second, I... kind of dont like the jogging animation ( see 2:19) its looks to floaty and weightless to me.
Last, of the 2 MCs, all footage I saw here, the girl looked super active, chippy and fun, while the boy was... there. He was her counter balance I guess. I want to play guys in games like this, but he just seems so uninteresting.
But its still early. Since its f2p, its currently on my, "who knows, maybe I'll have a look" list.
1: Ever played Genshin? Party swaping is needed at some point to beat normal enemies too ..unless u want to spend 20 minutes fighting ice monster with ice character xD

3: I dont even think we are gona be able to play as those 2. I mean they are not appearing as "fighting" characters on the website from what i know ...For me it owuld be more like stuff we got in Warframe ...u have "yourself" behind the armor ..buut u dont rly use him too much

As for the game, looks neat! But i also have no idea how solid its gameplay loop will be, so i can't tell if this will be great or terrible, especially with factoring in the microtransactions. But, I'm hoping it's good for anyone who plays it!
Game looks fun from the video , though its Mihoyo so expect soul sucking end game grind that feels awful at times . Will probably try out the game when it comes out , for a month .
Eh, genshin isn't that bad in terms of grinding.
I'm not opposed to grinding though as long as the base gameplay is actually fun and enjoyable though.
@@AB-jt4rs i dont mind grinding but it's an awful experience trying to get good substats ( dont even get me started on high rolling the good stats ) in both Genshin and Star Rail. Honkai Impact and Gakuen are a lot better in the endgame grinding but thats a different era ( doe i havent played the games in years ) , 99% of the systems will be copy pasted from GI and HSR .

Having played a couple of their games previously, I'm very concerned. Other people have said it better than I can, but if you've played Genshin or Honkai I suspect we will see alot of those same practices here.
That do be looking interesting, however I m afraid they will do the gacha™ moment™ where you can either pay about 250 euros or try to roll once after farming 8 month for that 0.5% chance to get another character (May or may not talking about Genshin who knows)

I appreciate the "Zzz" joke, but when i first glanced at this video's title i thought it was "zzz is a snooze fest" so it kinda doesn't give a great first impression... maybe change it to something that at first glance sounds more positive? Like "ZZZ is a welcome wake up call!" idk.
Totally love the review style so I dont mind the genre tilt. I will say not a huge fan of reviews where you haven't played it yet, but also totally fine with you snagging sponsorship money this way as long as it isn't all the time.
I am a MiHoyo/Hoyoverse fan and WILL test the game at least.
Despite the general view on HV games being “ew gacha” Star Rail is actually really generous with free pulls (i haven’t spent any money at all on it and have like 7 five star characters) so hopefully ZZZ will be as well?
and on the similar note while people will still argue “oh but having power creep on characters is pay to win” in most cases it doesn’t really matter? All the Hoyoverse games don’t really do content that gets harder per update, literally in all their games the highest difficulty is technically in base release for a high enough player level and even now most characters in Genshin from 1.0 are on equal damage ranking with new characters, it’s been literally years and Zhongli is still the best shielder in the game (the only exception was the Dendro characters in 3.0 onwards but thats because it was a new element) and some 4 star characters are capable of doing high damage (Fischl being the prime example as she’s still one of the best sub-dps characters)
People get a false idea about Genshin and Star Rail having insanely bad power creep because of the kind of youtubers who make clickbait-y titles like “(new character) is the most overpowered yet” or “(new character) is a must pull” when a lot of the time the characters dps is on par with other characters, as far as i’m concerned for games like Genshin, Star Rail, and ZZZ the proper way to play is just pull for whatever character you like and ignore the clickbait telling you what characters you “need to get” (case in point: i pulled for Hu Tao cause everyone calls her the strongest character in the game, i barely use her cause i don’t like her playstyle and instead use characters deemed as “not as good” like Tighnari or Cyno)

Hey, Lemon, I know the linear progression and how the story changes slightly in NG+ probably makes it difficult, but would you happen to be considering doing any kind of ACVI challenge runs in the future? I’d love to see faction-themed runs like RaD, Arquebus, or Balam mechs, maybe even some character ones, like “as Cinder Carla,” or “As V.IV Rusty” since you can unlock AC Data to use in game

When it comes to Hoyoverse's games many of them have an aspect that's S tier.
Honkai Impact has a surprisingly incredible story with one of the greatest villains in anime history, that's no exaggeration.
Genshin Impact nails the Minecraft-like feeling of exploring then suddenly having music start playing that causes you to take in the sights around you.
And Honkai Star Rail is fantastic with it's dialogue and comedy, some of the most entertaining moments in that game is just characters standing around and talking about nothing of import, hell there's an entire questline based around that and it's one of the best.
I genuinely cannot wait to see which aspect Zenless Zone Zero truly excels at
I will say, having gotten... Pretty deep in Honkai Impact, I feel like it does have the slight flaw that as strong as its villain might be, they sure take their sweet time to show up as I... Have no idea who you're referring to despite having gotten a bit past the time skip, and done most of the special zone content (Raiden Mei plot, PHS, etc.) stuff too. Though maybe I was just befoer they were established when I stopped playng? I dunno, the way gacha gear in that game worked ended up killing it for me.

Still hope for this game to be good, but having no PvP / Leaderboard, can make the devs aim for a casual audience and not invest in an endgame. Hope it's not the case.
Its a hoyo game, so 100% is for a casual audience. Its basically the cyberpunk editionof genshin, except instead of a massive open world, you're running in instanced stages. It looks fun, but hoyo is known for having not so great gacha rates.

The game got me interested off of the style, I don't like genshin and this could just end up being a genshin thing where the characters cost a hefty chunk to roll and get but if it isn't and it has a solid story beat I am gonna most likely grind the hell out of it. Love the combat look! You giving a preview gives me more hope it'll fit what I am looking for. Hope they send that vinyl lemon :)
It looks more like a Honkai Impact with a bit more open world. It will be a good game, great for some... other will bounce because RNG. Just your normal Mihoyo experience
